- An elite unit, led by an ex-homicide cop, which is linked to the Miami-Dade Police Department, uses all possible resources and skills at their disposal to solve complex crimes in cross-cultural Miami.

- Two bodies are found, strangled to death by the same killer. Evidence from the second crime scene leads the detectives to a house with a third live victim who is paralyzed and is only able to blink.

- An environmental terrorist group bombs the home of an electronics recycler, and his daughter is killed--but the daughter is part of the terrorist group. Meanwhile, Danny considers proposing to Lindsay again.

His co-workers include Dr. Miranda Foster, a surgical specialist with a rebellious streak and fiery temper who strives to live up to her deceased father's excellent surgical reputation; Dr. David Lee, a womanizing surgical resident who's broken as many hearts as he's replaced; Ryan Abbott, the inexperienced new transplant coordinator who arranges the intricately choreographed process of quickly and carefully transporting organs from donor to patient; Dr. Sophia Jordon, the dedicated head of surgery who has no patience for anyone who hasn't sacrificed as much as she has for the job; and Pam Acosta, Andy's no-nonsense operating assistant and best friend. In the season opener, a young pregnant woman's life hangs in the balance when she suffers a massive heart attack and Andy tells her that the only way to save her is for her to undergo a heart transplant. When complications arise with the donor's family, whom is a fatally injured construction foreman, Andy races the clock to save not only her life but that of her unborn child.
