Though the odds are overwhelming for many who call the "forgotten part of D.C.," home, the characters of Anacostia remain hopeful, drawing strength from their complicated, yet resilient friendships.

(Sean's husband who was killed in an explosion on their wedding day). Despite his admittance of being a sex addict, Carlos makes love to Nancy. Afterwards, Evan aggressively confronts Carlos for his rape of Sean which was not part of Evan's plan. Carlos assures Evan there is nothing that can link either of them to the crime. However, Nancy gathers Carlos's clothes from the bedroom floor and a wedding ring attached to a chain falls from one of his pockets. In an effort to find Alexis (Martha Byrne) after her kidnapping, Dominique threatens to expose a local Senator's secrets if he doesn't comply to her demands of acquiring surveillance footage from the city's neighborhood traffic cameras. Alexis sees an opportunity to escape her captors and takes it, only to be stopped when Eva (Elizabeth Hubbard) sadistically reveals to her that she has kidnapped Alexis' 10 year old son Caleb and uses him against Alexis as leverage.

Nancy confronts Carlos about the Wedding ring and he devises a story to cover his tracks. Later, Nancy is confronted by Dominique and tries to share her concerns about the gentrification of Anacostia. Evan has a unpleasant encounter with Desiree' at her office. Sean feeling isolated and alone goes to get an HIV test only to be overcome by his own fears and has a breakdown in the clinic. Scott tries to reason with Michael about the well being of Mia. Dominique get an ominous call from Alexis.
- DeAnna and Desiree' seek the help from their cousin Melissa who tells them what happened to Sean. Later, DeAnna blames herself for what has happened to both Mia and Sean. Maurice agrees to visit with Jennifer at the psychiatric. Jennifer begs Maurice to forgive her for shooting both him and Mia which placed her in a coma. Jennifer doesn't remember the incident...or does she? Nancy visits with her brother Michael and tries to make peace with him. However, Michael has other plans. Evan meets with Carlos and asks him for yet another favor. Michael starts to unravel and takes drastic matters into his own hands regarding Mia.

Evan confronts Carlos about his lack of effort in getting access to Nancy's money. A new couple (Kenneth and Megan Brooks) moves into town to start over. Carlos devises a manipulative plan to get access to Nancy's money.
- Mia tries to reconnect with Sean but their reunion takes an unexpected turn for the worse. Dominique grows frustrated by the failed attempts to locate where Eva is holding Alexis hostage. Nicole gets encouraging news from her estranged husband. Nancy discovers why she hasn't been feeling like herself lately. Salina succumbs to her dependency to alcohol which results in tragic consequences.

Michael confronts Sean about his conversation with Mia. Cliff and Que may have found the missing link they need to find Eva and Alexis. Nancy has a very unpleasant encounter with Dominique. Scott seeks ways to dull his pain.

Dominique, Que, and Cliff question a woman from Eva's past, finding out more than they bargained for. A conversation with Michael accidentally unlocks an emotional memory for Mia. Sean gets an unexpected visit, heralding the beginning of the end for Carlos.
