- Having run astray from his faith, John is given a faith prayer to return him to his good nature. After having trouble understanding why he must pray for himself to someone else, he replaces divine words in the prayer to personal pronouns. He changes "In your name..." to "In my name...". Thus ensues his dark descent into an overwhelming Messiah complex. What results is an act of religious defiance through self-faith of the most abnormal sort.
- In the mind there are two places: the light--riddled with confusion and greed and the darkness filled with man's dark desires. Between the two is a wall, a barrier between good and evil. The only thing capable of breaking this wall is the corrupter of all man - insanity.
- After the death of his father, Aaron Zephyr is in a critical state of mind. He and his late father, an Air Force pilot, never truly had a concrete connection, primarily on Aaron's side. Nevertheless, his father made sure to tell Aaron how much he loved him till his passing due to lung cancer. 30 years old, Aaron's newly emerging depression causes him to question his relationship with his father and from this, he makes it his every effort to connect with him now. This obsession overtakes his life to a point of distancing himself from the ones he loves, including his wife, who struggles to be by his side. Aaron's grandest idea is to fly in an airplane up into the clouds and capture in a large glass jar the air, in the hopes of capturing his father's soul to bring back home. His obstacle is his wife, Terra, who urges him to realize the insanity in the thought and while she understands it as a coping mechanism, it is not the best logical method. The plot ends with Aaron going into the plane while his wife stays at home miserable. She finds squirreled away in a closet the jar Aaron was going to use for his plan. Aaron is high in the air, enjoying the same feelings his father once did up there. Though he wanted to bring his father back home in any way possible, he soon realized his need to move on and embrace the time they had together with the new connection granted in the clouds.
