International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA)

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Notes

  • The festival takes place since 1988.
  • Since 1988 the festival traditionally asks a filmmaker to compile a program of his or her favorite ten (Top 10) documentary films which then will be screened for the festival's audience.
  • Since 2001 the festival has abolished the distinction between video and film and initiated one competition for the long documentary (exceeding 60 minutes) and one for the short documentary (60 minutes or under).
  • Since 2005 the festival has a section for mid-length documentaries (30-60 minutes) and a section for short documentaries (30 minutes or under).
