- The festival includes the previously independent festivals Anima (for animated films) and Bangkok Short Film Festival.
- The Golden Kinnaree statuette was designed by Preecha Thaothong, a renowned Thai artist and an assistant professor at Silpakorn University.
- A Kinnaree is a figure from Thai mythology one of which combines the attributes of a woman and a bird and is believed to come from heaven.
