- DirectorMartin CampbellStarsDaniel CraigEva GreenJudi DenchAfter earning 00 status and a licence to kill, secret agent James Bond sets out on his first mission as 007. Bond must defeat a private banker funding terrorists in a high-stakes game of poker at Casino Royale, Montenegro. My absolute favorite film of all time. It has great action, an amazing script, and fantastic direction and acting. This is by far the best 007 film ever and my favorite film ever.
- DirectorGeorge LucasStarsMark HamillHarrison FordCarrie FisherLuke Skywalker joins forces with a Jedi Knight, a cocky pilot, a Wookiee and two droids to save the galaxy from the Empire's world-destroying battle station, while also attempting to rescue Princess Leia from the mysterious Darth Vader. This was my favorite film for a long time, that is until I saw the one at number one. This George Lucas classic has touched the hearts and captivated audiences for over 30 years.
- DirectorPeter JacksonStarsElijah WoodIan McKellenOrlando BloomA meek Hobbit from the Shire and eight companions set out on a journey to destroy the powerful One Ring and save Middle-earth from the Dark Lord Sauron.I'd put the whole trilogy in this position, but since IMDB doesn't have a page for the whole trilogy, I've put my favorite one of the series in this spot.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy reawakened the fantasy genre and studios were quick to produce their own fantasy series. The success of the trilogy gave paved the way for films such as The Chronicles of Narnia and Eragon. - DirectorGuillermo del ToroStarsIvana BaqueroAriadna GilSergi LópezIn the Falangist Spain of 1944, the bookish young stepdaughter of a sadistic army officer escapes into an eerie but captivating fantasy world. This was an absolute masterpiece and probably deserves the number one spot on the list. Guillermo del Toro has created a the perfect fairy tale for adults and is an absolute masterpiece.
- DirectorAlfonso CuarónStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintHarry Potter, Ron and Hermione return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for their third year of study, where they delve into the mystery surrounding an escaped prisoner who poses a dangerous threat to the young wizard. This was the very first Harry Potter film I ever saw and loved it. Despite being the third entry in the series, it's also a good starting point for newcomers (but do make sure you check out Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets).
POA is also a favorite among fans. It has the highest score out of all the Potter films with a 90% approval rating. - DirectorTerry GilliamStarsChristopher PlummerLily ColeHeath LedgerHaving made a deal with the Devil himself for immortality many millennia ago, the now decrepit mystic Doctor Parnassus fights for the freedom of his only daughter's soul. This is probably best known as the final film Heath Ledger ever filmed. Though he doesn't give as great a performance as his Academy Award winning role in The Dark Knight, Ledger does not disappoint.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleHugh JackmanScarlett JohanssonAfter a tragic accident, two stage magicians in 1890s London engage in a battle to create the ultimate illusion while sacrificing everything they have to outwit each other.Christopher Nolan is without a doubt is my favorite director and this is probably my favorite film of his. This an absolute piece of genius with twists that you don't see coming. An amazing film from an amazing director.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleHeath LedgerAaron EckhartWhen the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, Batman must accept one of the greatest psychological and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice.Christopher Nolan delivers yet another masterpiece. This sequel to Batman Begins gave a new side to comic book films that was never seen before. The Dark Knight was a critical and commercial favorite.
Some even considered this film might be a real contender for a Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards. It is thought due to the uproar caused that film didn't receive a best picture nomination, led the academy to expand the best picture nominee list to include 10 films. - DirectorJames CameronStarsSigourney WeaverMichael BiehnCarrie HennDecades after surviving the Nostromo incident, Ellen Ripley is sent out to re-establish contact with a terraforming colony but finds herself battling the Alien Queen and her offspring. Before Avatar...
Before Titanic...
Before Terminator 2: Judgment Day...
There was Aliens.
This is one of the few times when a sequel manages to out do its predecessor. 'Aliens' helped catapult James Cameron's career (which would only continue to rise with his later releases).
This film is perfect: horror, sci-fi, survival, war. 'Aliens' tackles many genres. And also has 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
