- DirectorGuy HamiltonStarsSean ConneryGert FröbeHonor BlackmanWhile investigating a gold magnate's smuggling, James Bond uncovers a plot to contaminate the Fort Knox gold reserve. It would be Blasphemy not to put this as number one. While Dr. No and From Russia With Love may have invented the formula for BOnd films, Goldfinger perfected it and did it the best and most entertainingly. Not to mention the first bond girl that wasn't just a damsel in distress. And let's not forget about the beautiful Aston Martin, the awesome gadgets, and the best henchman ever. Silence is truly golden.
- DirectorMartin CampbellStarsPierce BrosnanSean BeanIzabella ScorupcoWhen a powerful secret defense system is stolen, James Bond is assigned to stop a Russian crime syndicate from using it.This one almost made number one from me, however I have to say that if it weren't for goldfinger, we'd have no goldeneye or bond for that matter. If it wasn't for this film, Bond would have gone out on a mixed note after Dalton's tenure. This film was gritty, realistic, but also didn't take itself too seriously, blending a great amount of danger and humor all into the same movie before things started to get ridiculous later on. I love the chemistry that Brosnan and Sean Bean have as Bond and 006. And of course the unforgettable tank chase as well as climax on the antenna cradle. We all love you Pierce, you were a great Bond. ONly somewhat ridiculous (albiet somewhat hot) point would be a girl who can kill you with her thighs. (Nice nod to the Roger Moore films there.)
- DirectorMartin CampbellStarsDaniel CraigEva GreenJudi DenchAfter earning a licence to kill, secret agent James Bond sets out on his first mission as 007. Bond must defeat a private banker funding terrorists in a high-stakes game of poker at Casino Royale, in Montenegro.Let's make one thing perfectly clear. Daniel Craig is a great James Bond. He absolutely nails what Bond is in the books and blends a perfect amount of every other Bond before him. There's even a little bit of George Lazenby in his performance if you ask me. Add to the fact that he's the only actor who actually had a film career before playing the role and still does. What he may lack in looks (depending on what you like) he makes up for in charisma, dry humor, and ability to kick ass. He's no Connery, but for me he ties with Pierce for Bond. As for the film itself, it's a well paced thriller and doesn't really feel as long as it actually is. Those who complain it hasn't enough action, (there's a little thing called plot development.) If you find that boring, you may as well be watching a *beep* film like Transformers 2 or any Fast and Furious movie. Points also for having one of the best torture scenes in modern cinema, as well as possibly my favorite Bond girl. Why do I put it under Goldeneye? Because damn it, Goldenye popped my cherry, and I just can't betray that. :)
- DirectorTerence YoungStarsSean ConneryRobert ShawLotte LenyaJames Bond willingly falls into an assassination plot involving a naive Russian beauty in order to retrieve a Soviet encryption device that was stolen by the organization Spectre. Why do I put this under Casino Royale? I'll answer that question with a question? Why the hell do we need a scene in which the Bondtheme crescendos while he's in his hotel doing absolutely nothing?! Aside from that annoying hiccup, a near flawless James Bond film. Possibly one of the only one that actually feels like an espionage thriller. Plus the most brutal fight scene in almost any Bond film on board the train. The boat and helicopter chase towards the end. The knife shoe. When the hell can he get a break? You gotta love every minute of what a perfect buildup to a climax is. Could Tanya have been a little less of an annoying hinderance to Bond tho?
- DirectorJohn GlenStarsTimothy DaltonMaryam d'AboJeroen KrabbéJames Bond is sent to investigate a KGB policy to kill all enemy spies, and uncovers an arms deal that potentially has major global ramifications.Dalton is easily the most underrated good James Bond out there. He never was the most humerous like Moore or Connery, but the series kind of flew off the deep end way too far after View to a Kill. It was time for a revamp, and they succeeded. One thing I love in particular about this one apart from Dalton is the theme. It's just so damn fun and dangerous at the same time, and a little bit romantic in a weird way. It was probably the first time the villain wasn't trying to destroy the world rather than just make a quick buck. Nice change of pace if you ask me. And a great plethora of memorable action scenes to boot. Also enjoy John Rhys Davis's role as Pushkin. If there's anything to nitpick, pacing does drag in some points unneccessarily, but it doesn't hinder it from being a good Bond film.
- DirectorTerence YoungStarsSean ConneryUrsula AndressBernard LeeA resourceful British government agent seeks answers in a case involving the disappearance of a colleague and the disruption of the American space program.Bond, James Bond. No one could have said it better. Maybe I'm cliche, but i still get a much deserved chill hearing him say that even today. No one can forget Ursula Andress coming out of the sea or Joseph Wiseman's (please tell me I got that right) performance as Dr. No. Classic Bond written all over it. And holy hell, amazing car chase WITHOUT gadgets. Top that Die another Day. What hurts this film so much though is the fact that it was still finding it's way and the soundtrack feels so out of place to me. I know they're in Jamaica, but by the millionth time I hear "Under the Mango Tree." I wanna off myself. Still a solid effort though.
- DirectorRoger SpottiswoodeStarsPierce BrosnanJonathan PryceMichelle YeohJames Bond sets out to stop a media mogul's plan to induce a war between China and the United Kingdom. It'd be unfair to put every other Pierce Brosnan flick in a worst category. This one actually feels like a classic over the top action adventure. The chases are memorable and creative, the plot is easy to follow, and it's a fun movie. If there's anything to hate is that maybe it goes too far at times with the puns or the fact that the villian is a bit too opposite of what Trevelyan was previously, but at least he had a goal in mind, even if it was more far fetched and crazy. There were even some good dark moments in there to balance everything out. This was also the first bond movie I saw in theaters and compared to all the other crap that was coming out at the time, this movie was almost a godsend for me being 8 years old.
- DirectorLewis GilbertStarsRoger MooreBarbara BachCurd JürgensJames Bond investigates the hijacking of British and Russian submarines carrying nuclear warheads, with the help of a K.G.B. agent whose lover he killed. One of the Only Roger Moore Films that I can consider good. It's kind of on the same par as tomorrow never dies. Power hungry villian, antagonist, but flirty female agent, fantastic locations etc. Great formula for a Bond film. Highlights for me are the Lotus car chase, ski chase in the beginning, and Jaws. The puns weren't too over the top either and were actually. Great Bond film for the times.
- DirectorPeter R. HuntStarsGeorge LazenbyDiana RiggTelly SavalasBritish agent James Bond goes undercover to pursue the villainous Ernst Stavro Blofeld, who is planning to hold the world to ransom.I know I know. Start throwing stones at me for considering this a good film, but I've gotta ask. What's really bad about it besides the fact that Lazenby isn't as convincing a Bond as Connery is? It was the guy's first movie, and he wasn't even a trained actor or anything of the kind before this. it's hard to really blame him so much as the producers for leaping without looking. Diana Rigg is a fascinating Bond girl, and I actually like Bloefeld in this one. There's a lot of great suspense and sometime violent moments in this. Lazenby may not be Connery, but damn I felt bad for the henchman getting their asses handed to them. Gotta also give applause to a great ski chase sequence, and probably the first film that had the balls to kill a main Bond girl. People have to admit, did anyone really think the marriage was going to last long? It was a great sense of misdirection, and I just can't see this a bad film. That's just me though, disagree all you want. It's a free country.
- DirectorJohn GlenStarsRoger MooreCarole BouquetTopolSecret service agent James Bond is assigned to find a missing British vessel equipped with a weapons encryption device and prevent it from falling into enemy hands. This one surprised me after watching the abysmal Moonraker. It was surprisingly gritty for a Roger Moore Bond film, and it felt like a great back to basics espionage plot ala Russia with Love. It's not as classical or memorable as some of the others on this list, but it does what it intends to do.
- DirectorTerence YoungStarsSean ConneryClaudine AugerAdolfo CeliJames Bond heads to the Bahamas to recover two nuclear warheads stolen by S.P.E.C.T.R.E. Agent Emilio Largo in an international extortion scheme. This one was a great peaking point for Connery as Bond. Great place to film and have a bond setting as well. A plot where the world's safety is at stake. Can't forget the jetpack sequence at the beginning. Wish there was more of that though. The only thing I can point out for me is that it's not as memorable as some of the earlier connery flicks, but it does entertain enough to get the job done.
