Movies I like, but everyone else hates
Just to get one thing straight, it's not that I find the movies I listed to be masterpieces, it's that I find them to be enjoyable, entertaining, and worth a watch. If you flat-out hate any of the movies I listed (and chances are that you do), that's fine. Just don't label me as an anti-semite with no taste in movies.

- DirectorAndrzej BartkowiakStarsKarl UrbanRosamund PikeDwayne JohnsonSpace Marines are sent to investigate strange events at a research facility on Mars but find themselves at the mercy of genetically enhanced killing machines. Most people hate on this movie for not completely following the game's portal-to-Hell story and instead went for a viral-outbreak plot. I can understand that, but let me ask you something. Do we really play Doom for the story? Let's face it, we all play Doom just to kill a crapload of monsters and to see some carnage. For the movie, I expected mindless action & bloodshed and that's exactly what I got.
- DirectorMcGStarsChristian BaleSam WorthingtonAnton YelchinIn 2018, a mysterious new weapon in the war against the machines, half-human and half-machine, comes to John Connor on the eve of a resistance attack on Skynet. But whose side is he on, and can he be trusted?Yes, that's right. I like this. I liked the action, I liked the effects, I especially liked the CG-Arnie cameo, and I liked the little references/homages to the previous Terminator films.
I don't understand why people were bashing this movie. Yes, it felt more like a post-apocalypse movie rather than a Terminator movie, but personally, I was okay with it. I mean, it was based around the beginning of the war with the machines instead of the now-tired-thanks-to-T3 two-terminators-are-sent-back-to-kill-this-guy plot line. So, of course it was going to be different. - DirectorRoland EmmerichStarsMatthew BroderickJean RenoMaria PitilloFrench nuclear tests irradiate an iguana into a giant monster that heads off to New York City. The American military must chase the monster across the city to stop it before it reproduces. Now, to be honest, I didn't really know much about the Godzilla franchise when I was growing up. I was mostly watching a lot of action/horror movies at the time. When I first saw this, I liked it (Of course, I was a kid) and it sort of got me interested into the Godzilla movies with the help of Godzilla 2000. Well, now that I'm an adult & I know more about the franchise than I did back then, I decided to give it another watch. And...
It's still entertaining. - DirectorUwe BollStarsJonathan CherryTyron LeitsoClint HowardA group of college students travels to a mysterious island to attend a rave, which is soon taken over by bloodthirsty zombies. No, your eyes do not deceive you. This is one of the movies that put director Uwe Boll on the gamers' most-hated list. Personally, I thought it wasn't too bad. I enjoyed the gore, the action, the T&A, and even some of the techno score.
I don't understand why people expected "Oscar gold" from a movie based on a RAIL-ON SHOOTER. If you think of it, the games also have their share of bad acting and generic plots (mad scientist causes zombie apocalypse because mankind is imperfect or some s*** like that). So, why do so many people find the movie horrible when it's so obvious that the games the movie is based on are just as silly? - DirectorBruno MatteiClaudio FragassoStarsMargie NewtonFranco GarofaloSelan KarayAfter an experiment gone wrong, a virus that turns people into zombies spreads throughout New Guinea. A female reporter and her cameraman, and a team of four commandos sent to investigate try to survive the onslaught. Now, I will admit, I also didn't agree with most of the movie. The dialogue, the plot, the dubbing, and the overtly stupid characters (Why can't most of the swat guys remember to shoot a zombie in the head?). Although, aside from all that, the movie is quite entertaining. I enjoyed most of the gore effects, the character Zantoro is awesome, some parts actually made me jump a little (the scene with the cat bursting through the chick's gut), and despite being a Dawn of the Dead rip-off, it does try to do its own thing.
- DirectorMichael BayStarsShia LaBeoufMegan FoxJosh DuhamelSam Witwicky leaves the Autobots behind for a normal life. But when his mind is filled with cryptic symbols, the Decepticons target him and he is dragged back into the Transformers' war.I have never seen a movie this hated and/or taken this seriously. Most people complain about the juvenile humor and the bad acting, but I don't mind all that (I actually got a laugh out of the robo-scrotum part). I mean, it was about robots from another planet whom come to Earth, turn into cars/trucks/planes and blow each other up. What were people expecting? Hamlet? Citizen Kane? Godfather? Did everyone fall asleep during the good parts? What about the scene where Optimus Prime was fighting of those Decepticons in the forest? That was awesome!
If you decide to go watch this, don't try to take it seriously and enjoy it for what it is, braindead action at its finest. - DirectorJoel SchumacherStarsVal KilmerTommy Lee JonesJim CarreyBatman must battle former district attorney Harvey Dent, who is now Two-Face and Edward Nygma, The Riddler with help from an amorous psychologist and a young circus acrobat who becomes his sidekick, Robin.Trust me, this is Rambo: First Blood compared to Batman & Robin.
- DirectorRob ZombieStarsScout Taylor-ComptonMalcolm McDowellTyler ManeAfter being committed for 15 years, Michael Myers, now a grown man and still very dangerous, escapes from the mental institution and immediately returns to Haddonfield to find his baby sister, Laurie. This is one of those movies targeted by the I-hate-remakes bandwagon. Personally, I LOVED this one. It made me jump as much as the original did.
Speaking of the movie, when Rob Zombie contacted John Carpenter about him remaking this, Carpenter told Zombie to make it his own film and that's exactly what he did. - DirectorRob ZombieStarsScout Taylor-ComptonTyler ManeMalcolm McDowellLaurie Strode struggles to come to terms with her brother Michael's deadly return to Haddonfield, Illinois; meanwhile, Michael prepares for another reunion with his sister.Same thoughts like with the first one, but more as a gore fest.
- DirectorSamuel BayerStarsJackie Earle HaleyRooney MaraKyle GallnerThe spectre of a disfigured man haunts the children of the parents who murdered him, stalking and killing them in their dreams.Yet, another movie targeted by the I-hate-remakes bandwagon. A lot of fans of the original were disappointed that Robert Englund didn't come back to reprise his role, but he said that he felt he was too old to continue with the role (and he also supported the remake feeling that the story could be told better with today's special effects). Many people also said that the original was so perfect that it didn't need a remake, but personally, I didn't think it was 100% perfect. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the original as much as I did with the Friday the 13th movies, but lets face it, after the first one, it just got sillier and sillier and sillier with each sequel.
Anyways, onto the movie. Personally, I didn't find it all that horrible. Sure, most of the teen cast is pretty Twilight-esque and at times, the dialogue was bad ("He brought us here so we could remember what he did to us." WTF?), but there were some great moments of horror, Jackie Earle Haley does a great Freddy Krueger (*cough*Watchmen*cough*), and the ending is one of the biggest "Oh, snap!" moments I've ever seen. - DirectorRussell MulcahyStarsMilla JovovichAli LarterOded FehrSurvivors of the Raccoon City catastrophe travel across the Nevada desert, hoping to make it to Alaska.
