Most Outstanding Breakthrough In Movies

This little boy I first saw as Forrest Gump Jr, and he made his terrific breakthrough in The Sixth Sense, so right in the sci-fi adventure AI: Artificial Intelligence. After this two great movies - he just diseappered from almost everything...

I first noticed Christian Bale as young boy in Empire of the Sun in 1987, but didn`t see him for several years. It happened i 1998 in the strange movie Velvet Goldmine - Bale is back. And in this millennium he became a superstar, specially as the magnificent Batman.

I admit it. I didn t noticed Jesse Eisenberg before Zombieland, there he was very good, and the movie gave me big laughs. Later I catch him on DVDs in The Squid and the Whale - and in The Village, and I will absolute see Eisenberg in The Social Network in time.

A little girl catch my eyes when I was watching I am Sam, and she was very good along with Sean Penn! She followed up as the young Reese Witherspoon in Sweet home Alabama, the thriller Man of Fire, and Dakota Fanning was stunning in both Hide & Seek and War of the Worlds. Great little actor!

When I saw this guy in 28 Days Later, I knew he will be a man for the future, and proved it again in Batman Begins and Red Eye. Last time for me with Cillian Murphy was in marvelous Inception.

Great Anna Paquin was just a little girl in her break on the screen, The Piano gave her an Oscar and made Anna well known. But it was in the trilogy of X-Men she became a superstar in the A-Class - and I really love her in the outrageous TV-show True Blood...

A struggling actor in the 90s, but he didn`t catch my eyes before The Brave One along with Jodie Foster - later I saw him in Hart`s War, and of course in Iron Man - I think he has a future on the screen..

The now well known action man Bruce Willis was just a smalltimer when he landed in Hollywood with a big bang - he got the attention in the TV-show Moonlighting, but with Die Hard in 1988, Bruce was The Man, the rest is history.

I was surprised of the young girl in Bend it like Beckham, and I wonder: would I see her again? Sure I did - in the trilogy of Pirates Of The Caribbeans, she got her nominasion for Oscar in Pride and Predjuice, and won Golden globe with Atonement, Yes - she is good. And she impressed me as macho woman in King Arthur...

Jamie Bell, the young kid with his breakthrough in Billy Elliott (Haven`t seen), but he got my attention in King Kong in 2005, and I believe he will build his movie career well and careful

First time I saw Sean Penn was in Bad Boys in -83, then in At Close Range, but was it the breakthrough? I`m not sure, but he became very well known when he married Madonna. Penn is an actor who developed his career pretty slowly up to the top, maybe he became superstar in Dead Man Walking - from there Penn got better and better!

He made an outstanding debut in The Client i 1994, and I thought something would bring him up to the stars. After Sleepers Renfro did something great again in Apt Pupil along with Ian McKellen - and then what? Small roles in Ghost World and The Jacket - he went down in the gutter, It`s a shame.

Sean Connery was in the 30s when he became a superstar, and I`ll never forget 1962 when he landed as Agent 007 James Bond in Dr. No. After several Bond Movies, he dropped the caracter (last in 1983), Connery build his career in different directions - he became more than just Bond, my favorite is The Rock..

I seem to remember one or two movies with bodybuilder Big Arnie in the 70s, but it was indisputable as Terminator in -84 which gave Schwarzenegger the direction to stardom. He became the new Action Star, he put Stallone down from the throne. Big Arnie made som funny stuff too, liked him in Twins and Junior..

Ewan McGregor got his break in British film with Shallow Grave, and followed up controversial Trainspotting. In Velvet Goldmine he show himself completely - and became international well known in the new trilogy of Star Wars. But my favorites with Ewan are Shallow Grave and Stay..

For me came Clint Eastwood in with the trilogy westerns directed by Sergio Leone - A fistful of Dollars and two more. Later I saw some episodes of Rawhide, but these spaghetti westerns gave Clint his stardom. Later as Dirty Harry - and his career is unik, he is a legend in the world of movies - as actor and as director.

First film for me directed by Martin Scorsese was Mean Streets, and I was really impressed. Later came the magnificent Taxi Driver - I believe that was Scorsese`s breakthrough. But he didn`t stop there. films like Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Gangs of New York and The Departed, and Scorsese finally got his Oscar - he had proved his talent long time ago. My favorite from Scorsese is absolute Gangs of New York.

There isn`t much to say about Marlee Matlin, but when I saw her in Children of a Lesser God, she proved she had the talent. But I thought her career stopped there - Matlin became became involved more in TV-shows like Picket Fences, The West Ving and The L Word, her career on the big screen didn`t go so well, and maybe her hearing problems took her away from that - a shame..

Edward Furlong impressed med in his debut with Terminator 2 - I just said wow! The same happened when I was watching American History X. But what happened next? I always watching CSI: NY - and suddenly there was Edward Furlong in some episodes as a revenger and killer. I`ve noticed that he is a part of Green Hornet, so maybe I`ll see that one..

Kirsten Dunst is very well known from the trilogy of Spiderman, it was obviously her breakthrough in Hollywood. But I saw her first in Interview With a Vampire, and I thought: Who is this little terrible girl? Then in Virgin Suicides, she gave a new impressive performance - and the last film so far I watch with Kirsten Dunst, was Elisabethtown..

Whein I first saw her in Miami Vice, I felt very good with her performance, and then in Hannibal rising, this china woman deserve more, I really do like her å lot. Not just for her beauty, but she has the talent.

This kid star made his break in Home Alone in 1990, and a sequel two years later - and everybody loved him, what a boy! I first saw Macaulay in Uncle Buck, but didn`t impressed me. But then he just disappeared from the spotlight - just two average films in My Girl and Richie Rich...

I was in my 30s and a family guy when I watched Tiger Bay on the telly with my kids, and I notice this curly girl - she made me impressed. And later on in The Parent Trap with a double role - but then, I saw her never again. What is really happened to most of the child actors?

Steven Spielberg was a young man when he really scared me with Jaws, and later I watched his Sugarland Express and Duel, two good movies on the TV-screen. And what Spielberg have done later - and up to now, it`s just stunning. I guess Jaws is his breakthrough, and my favorites is unbelieveable Jaws - and Jurassic Park..

What can I say? Marisa Tomei was superb in My Cousin Vinny, her absolute break and got her an Oscar. Anyway, maybe her career didn`t turned out that big as she wanted, but she has done some great performances through the years, last in The Wrestler - my favorite with her...

Drew Barrymore is one of these kid stars who manage to bring her career into her adult age after a difficult childhood, and she does it well commercial, but I don`t aprove her choice of movies - I really hate Charlie`s Angels! But I really loved her in the breakthrough ET, and she was good in Firestarter...

Freddie Highmore is still young, now around 18 years I believe, he got all the time in his world. He was outstanding in Charlie and the Chokolate Factory along with Johnny Depp, and very good in Finding Neverland, again with Depp. Get it on Freddie...

Elisabeth Taylor - the ikon, the diva, the super glamour star, the woman almost every youth had s poster in their bedroom. She started with Lassie Come Home, she became a star - and she had a marvelous career, and my favorites with her is Cat On A Hot Tin Roof - and Who`s Afraid Of Virginia Wolf? Great films...

When I watch the movie Hope and Glory i 1987, my first thought was, this is a boy for the future, he was really good. But believe or not, this became the only movie he played in - that`s too bad, and disappointing.

Ron Howard a well known director who had done some great films, and maybe his famous came with Splash and Cocoon, but I think his best are Apollo 13, The Missing, Cinderella Man and Angels & Demons. But Ron was also a good child actor - I remember the TV-show Happy Days, and the movies American Graffiti and The Spikes Gang..

Hilary Swank started her career early in the 90s, but in 1999 she became almost a superstar with Boys Don`t Cry, and she followed up with good movies like The Gift, the marvelous Million Dollar Baby and The Black Dahlia - I think she is just great...

The child actor who came around with Mermaids and The Addams family, and Christina Ricci got her break as adult in The Ice Storm. I remember her best from Sleepy Hollow and the great movie Monster, they my favorites with Christina..

Jodie Foster is for me one of the greatest female actors in all time. She her fantastic breakthrough in Taxi Driver - she was fun in Freaky Friday, and as adult Jodie impressed me in The Accused - and of course in The Silence of the Lambs. and she can do actions too, in The Brave One Jodie was fabulous again - great actor!

I have to say I have just seen two movies with Judy Garland, and she was very good in both. Nobody can really forget her performance in The Wizard of Oz, a classic adventure the family viewers. And the other on is Judgment in Nuremberg in 1961 - another good movie of Judy Garland...

Everybody know Elijah Wood from the trilogy of The Lord of The Rings, but my first view with him was in Forever Young along with Mel Gibson, later in The Ice Storm, a great movie. But he has done some other strong performances too - he was really nasty in Sin City, and Elijah Wood was pretty good in The Oxford Murders...

The daughter of a famous mother - and even more famous stepfather, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. And she started her own career great with Almost Famous, her breakthrough. She did good in The Four Feathers - even better in The Skeleton Key - but not so in You, Me and Dupree, maybe comedy isn`t in her line..

I`m not specially fan of Meg Ryan, but I`ve seen her in good movies, and I suppose Meg got her break in When Harry Met Sally, her presentation of a fake orgasm in a cafè was the highlight of the movie, nearly worth the whole show! But she had movies like Top Gun, Innerspace and Sleepless in Seattle - worth a view...

Ralph Macchio was The Karate Kid, he hasn`t done much more since that trilogy. He did som good in My Cousin Vinny later, but in profiled, well known movies he didn`t got anymore - and I can`t say I miss him. But he was good in the first Karate Kid, nothing else...
