Lion - [link]http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3741834[/link]
So far Juicy's choice for Best Picture at the Oscars, and this is fair as Juicy usually sees all the best pic noms. So far this IS the best. Have not seen Moonlight or a few others, yet. Juicy is fair on Oscars and will see all, if his opinion changes, will let you know. But so far none of them are meh. Really enjoyed most. LA LA Land, not sure I enjoyed, as much as respected (music is so amazing, as acting, as are the dreams that come true, and don't, like life.)
Moonlight - [link]http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4975722[/link]
Also the animated French coming of age movie up for Best Animated
My Life as a Zucchini - [link]http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2321405[/link]
For what its worth, finally released.....in a two part dvd (the first part is worthless)

Quiltys' Recommended Reading:
The Enchanter - Vladimir Nabokov: [link]http://www.amazon.com/Enchanter-Vladimir-Nabokov/dp/0679728864[/link]
First Love - Joyce Carol Oates - [link]http://www.amazon.com/First-Love-Joyce-Carol-Oates/dp/0880014571[/link]
From Quilty - "A dark and sure-to-be controversial little tale of Josie, eleven-years-old, who comes to stay at the home of her great-aunt in upstate New York, where her 25-year-old cousin, Jared, Jr., also resides. A seminary student on temporary leave from school, Jared, Jr. has only the most perverse plans for Josie in between his bible studies. And so one summer afternoon, by the bank of the river at the back of the house, a distinctly sadomasochistic sexual relationship blooms. A darkly erotic, almost gothic tale. With illustrations by Barry Moser."
Quiltys' Favorite Photography:
Jock Sturges - Misty Dawn: Portrait of a Muse: [link]http://www.amazon.com/Misty-Dawn-Portrait-Jock-Sturges/dp/1597110744[/link]
Graham Ovenden - Childhood Streets: [link]http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1888425105[/link]
From Quilty - "When Ovenden was a teenager, he spent many weekends roaming the streets of London (mostly the East End) with his Brownie camera photographing children. Thirty-five years after the fact it is obvious that the work was not only brilliant artistically, but it constitutes an important historcal document showing, in pictorial form, life on London's streets before the social effects of "urban renewal" and the proliferation of the automobile. Some of the work is truly astounding and also presents a rarity in the history of photography: the eye of the photographer-youth."
Nancy Buirski - Earth Angels: Migrant Children in America: [link]http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0876540736[/link]
From Quilty - "Nancy Buirski portrays the lives of children of migrant farm workers, an almost forgotten part of American society. These are children caught in a life of poverty who nonetheless maintain a spirit that transcends their difficult childhoods. 144 pp. of color photographs, text by the photographer, as well as quotations from farmworkers and their children."
Loretta Lux - Loretta Lux: [link]http://www.amazon.com/Loretta-Lux/dp/1931788545[/link]

!WARNING! Due to the nature of the movies, parents should be aware of the content of these productions. Many movies here, even though acted by children, have violence, profane language, and child nudity. Most U.S. parents do not give a s*beep*t about language and violence so Juicy will designate those movies showing the sick human child bodies and sexual content that should be avoided by placing a "H" for Hell on the comments for the movie.
