Great story and perhaps one of the greatest gangster films that isn't recognized that well. And based on a true story! 9/10
- DirectorBen AffleckStarsMorgan FreemanEd HarrisCasey AffleckTwo Boston area detectives investigate a little girl's kidnapping, which ultimately turns into a crisis both professionally and personally.Excellent Movie with superb acting and a great story from writer Dennis Lehane. Ben Affleck's directing debut was a great success. Great acting from all especially Amy Ryan who was nominated for best Supporting Actress. The ending really leaves you thinking for days about morals vs ethics. This should definetly be in IMDB's Top 250 as well. 9/10

- DirectorJ.J. AbramsStarsChris PineZachary QuintoZoe SaldanaAfter the crew of the Enterprise find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one-man weapon of mass destruction.Great Science Fiction film that is probably in the top 5 of the last 20 years. - DirectorRichard KwietniowskiStarsPhilip Seymour HoffmanMinnie DriverJohn HurtA bank manager with: (a) a gambling problem and (b) access to a multimillion dollar account gets into a messy situation. Based on the story of the largest one-man bank fraud in Canadian history.Philip Seymour Hoffman is in top form as an addicted gambler. His performance is perfect and the film as a whole portrays gambling as it really is. Not glorious and that one can get deeper and deeper until they are at rock bottom. John Hurt also plays a casino owner with expertise. 8/10
- DirectorNiels MuellerStarsSean PennNaomi WattsDon CheadleBased on real life events, Assassination is set in 1974 and centers on a businessman who decides to take extreme measures to achieve his American dream.Absolute tour de force performance from Sean Penn. snubbed from award recognition and very relevant film today with the advance of conspiracy theorists… 8/10

- DirectorSteven SoderberghStarsGeorge ClooneyBrad PittMatt DamonDanny Ocean rounds up the boys for a third heist after casino owner Willy Bank double-crosses one of the original eleven, Reuben Tishkoff. Not on par with the first one but still great and entertaining. Also has Al Pacino joining the all-star cast. Great acting of course and a great twist to the heist like always. I was so happy this one wasn't like the 2nd one which was a huge disappointment. 8/10
- DirectorFrank OzStarsRobert De NiroEdward NortonMarlon BrandoAn aging thief hopes to retire and live off his ill-gotten wealth with his lover when a young kid convinces him into doing one last heist that comes with a large payout.Great performances, great script. This film was one of the best of the year. Jeremy Renner had an explosive performance and I learned a great true story that made me curse the old CIA after this one. Great informative movie with stellar supporting performances along the way as well. 8/10

Definitely the best mobster film in recent memory since The Departed. Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. 8/10
- DirectorDavid BowersStarsZachary GordonDevon BostickRobert CapronBack in middle school after summer vacation, Greg Heffley and his older brother Rodrick must deal with their parents' misguided attempts to have them bond. When I saw it in theatres I laughed my ass off the whole time. I thought it was humourous the whole time and I viewed it once again at home to see if it had the same effect on me twice. And yet it did. Perhaps the best family movie series of its time. Good fun! 8/10
- DirectorJohn Erick DowdleStarsChris MessinaCaroline DhavernasBokeem WoodbineA group of people are trapped in an elevator and the Devil is mysteriously amongst them. The most intense thriler of all-time!!! How is this not in IMDB's Top 250? M. Night Shaylaman's best film since the Sixth Sense has intensity thorughout the entire film by placing the setting in an elevator shaft with 6 people. And it is revealed that one is the devil!!! 8/10

When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself.Neil Blomkamp does it again! Emotionally driven with great acting from two new unknown actors. Co-driven by strong performances by Hugh, Sigourney, Dev and Sharlto. Holden falls for her, but his hopes are crushed when he finds out she's a lesbian.Kevin Smith's best film. Captures the young relationship aura of modern day quite accurately. Some unforgettable and emotional scenes. 8/10
- DirectorShawn LevyStarsBen StillerCarla GuginoRicky GervaisA newly recruited night security guard at the Museum of Natural History discovers that an ancient curse causes the animals and exhibits on display to come to life and wreak havoc. The sequel was a huge disappointment but this one was a movie that was unlike no other. The perfect movie for all ages has some memorable villains a.k.a Dick Van Dyke, Bill Cobbs and Mickey Rooney and some humour with other fun characters such as Theodore Rosevelt, Sakagweea, Christopher Cloumbus and the dinosaur. I know it's not an academy award winner or anything but I can't stop loving this movie. 8/10
- DirectorTaylor HackfordStarsKathy BatesJennifer Jason LeighChristopher PlummerA big city reporter travels to a small town where her mother has been arrested for the murder of an elderly woman for whom she worked as a housekeeper. All of the actor and actress performances are stellar, how none of them were nominated for this film blows my mind. A depressing film with themes that still resonate today. 8/10
- DirectorAriel VromenStarsMichael ShannonChris EvansJames FrancoThe story of Richard Kuklinski, the notorious contract killer and family man. When he was finally arrested in 1986, neither his wife nor his daughters had any clue about his real profession. The acting, the cinematography, the story and the flow were all very well done. Michael Shannon deserves at least a nonimation for best actor as he is superb as the stone cold killer. Ray Liotta also puts on a good show something he hasn't done in a while. 8/10
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsJodie FosterKristen StewartForest WhitakerA divorced woman and her diabetic daughter take refuge in their newly-purchased house's safe room when three men break-in, searching for a missing fortune.Great thrilling plot and film with very simple structure. They are forced to figure out who is good and who is bad to stay alive. This film was very entertaining and had an interesting plot and several twists but not too many to keep me interested. Also had many good character actors shining in their roles, (Joe Pantoliano, Barry Pepper, Jim Caviezel, Greg Kinnear, etc.) 8/10
- DirectorRicky GervaisStephen MerchantStarsChristian CookeFelicity JonesTom HughesA 1970s-set comedy centered on three young working class friends in a dreary suburb of Reading. It has the perfect balance of comedy, sadness and character development. You empathize with the characters which means when that happens the director is doing a phenomenal job. Check this out you won't be disappointed! 8/10

The survivors are left to fight for their lives as they attempt to escape the sinking ship.Intense remake of "The Poseidon Adventure" (1972) has acting as good as the original in my opinion. The special effects are great in this film. Like Ebert says all the actors are professionals and there is nothing wrong with their performances. I believe there is nothing wrong with this whole movie. Totally underappreciated and underated. 8/10
- DirectorRobert RodriguezStarsCarlos GallardoConsuelo GómezJaime de HoyosA traveling mariachi is mistaken for a murderous criminal and must hide from a gang bent on killing him.One of the lowest budgeted films of all-time.
