He was a dashing romantic heartthrob of the 1960s, the scion of illustrious show business parents. Thomas was born in Dresden, the son of pre-war Ufa Film matinee idol Willy Fritsch and the actress and dancer Dinah Grace. He studied drama, ballet and singing in Hamburg and made his theatrical debut in 1963 at the Stadttheater Heidelberg. Success in films soon followed. Opposite screen icons like Lilli Palmer (Adorable Julia (1962), Das große Liebesspiel (1963)), Daliah Lavi (Das schwarz-weiß-rote Himmelbett (1962)) and Senta Berger (Full Hearts and Empty Pockets (1964)), Thomas became one of the most popular juvenile leads of the decade. As early as 1962, he won the prestigious Bambi Award as Best Young Actor. He gained further cinematic exposure through co-starring in European westerns (The Last Ride to Santa Cruz (1964), Legend of a Gunfighter (1964) ) and international co-productions (Uncle Tom's Cabin (1965) ). After he was conscripted to military service in 1966, his fortunes began to wane. By the time he was able to return to acting, public tastes had changed and his type of screen personae was no longer in demand. A projected career in Hollywood also ended in disappointment.
Following several years in the wilderness, Thomas made a comeback on stage as the star of light satirical comedies. By the mid-70s, he had also reinvented himself as a TV character player, often alternating sympathetically roguish with comical roles. His popularity with audiences was ultimately re-established with recurring roles in shows like Drei sind einer zuviel (1977), Rivalen der Rennbahn (1989), and Our Charly (1995). Moreover, Thomas frequently popped up as assorted suspects in the ever popular crime series Derrick (1974) and The Old Fox (1977). He also enjoyed a lengthy tenure as the narrator of children's radio plays and animated films. As a voice-over actor, he became familiar to millions, dubbing (among many others) for major stars like Tim Curry, Jeremy Irons, William Hurt, Russell Crowe (as Maximus in Gladiator (2000)), Alan Rickman, Alec Baldwin, Jeff Bridges and Ian McShane.
In private life, Thomas avidly supported animal welfare. He maintained residences on the island of Mykonos and in Munich where he died on April 21 2021 at the age of 77, having been diagnosed with dementia two years prior.Jeremy Irons, William Hurt, Russell Crowe, Jeff Bridges- Hermann Ebeling was born on 6 April 1928. Distinguished German actor of stage and screen noted for his rich, sonorous voice and gentlemanly bearing. An architect's son, Schoenfelder studied acting at the Prussian State Theatre in Berlin under the direction of Gustaf Gründgens, making his stage debut in 1936. His career was interrupted by wartime military service and he spent one year as a prisoner-of-war, being released in 1946. For the next decade and a half, he performed at numerous theatres throughout Germany, often in the role of the bon vivant. His warm voice, distinguished bearing and prematurely graying hair lent further credence to his typecasting as gentlemen about town in musicals and boulevard comedies.
Schoenfelder first acted on the screen from 1949, initially in leading roles. From the 1960s, he was seen more often in TV productions playing prominent secondary roles, usually as benevolent aristocrats, judges, professors or diplomatic envoys. He also became a perennial favourite as a voice-over artist for English or American stars from Alec Guinness and Henry Fonda to Vincent Price and Peter Cushing. He also did the German narration for such popular nature documentary series as "Wild Kingdom" (1963), dubbing for Marlin Perkins. On the stage, he acted for more than seven decades in anything from German-speaking productions of Shakespeare (usually in aristocratic roles) to comedy, such as 'Pension Schoeller' and 'Harvey'. From 1961, he made more than 1,200 appearances in 'My Fair Lady' at the Theater des Westens in Berlin, first as Colonel Pickering and later as Professor Higgins. An irrepressible performer who loved his craft, Schoenfelder was last seen on stage at the age of 91 in the play 'November' by David Mamet at the Renaissance Theater in Berlin.- Actor

In addition he has participated in numerous broadcast and television productions. Since 1990's smash hit, "Pretty Woman", he has been the German synchronous voice of Richard Gere as well as speaking in the X Files, Full House and as Kittridge in "Mission Impossible".
A self professed perfectionist, Hubertus lends his talent and time to reading for various German children's charities and lends his voice to play the lead character Gil Grissom in the German dub of the popular hit series, C.S.I. He has also starred in the German television series, Der Landarzt playing the character of Peter Detlefsen. In July of 2001, Hubertus read from the Hollow Skai novel "In A Da Da Da Vida" in Aachen and has also lent his voice to advertisements for the Donau Shopping Mall in Regensborg and also for international telephone answering services for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
