Oh Oscar what are we going to do with you???

Anne Hathaway has only been nominated once in In 2009 for her performance as Kym in Rachel Getting Married. While the other nominees, Kate Winslet(The Reader and Winner), Angelina Jolie(Changeling), Meryl Streep(Doubt) and Melissa Leo(Frozen River), all had great performances, but Anne acted with such talent, ability, and passion that was truly beyond her years. Unfortunately the Academy didn't see this and they gave the Oscar to Kate.

Although 2011 was a great year for best actress which such amazing performances from Annette Bening(The Kids Are All Right), Jennifer Lawrence(Winters Bone), Natalie Portman(Black Swan and Winner), and Michelle Williams(Blue Valentine) only one performance seemed to stand out more than others. Nicole Kidman's Performance as Becca in Rabbit Hole was a truly amazing portrayal of acting ability. Part of the time her performance was all in silence and you could read it in her face and eyes. The other part of the time she showed it with her whole body. The Academy for some reason didn't really notice the true beauty in her performance and didn't give her the Oscar.

While Sally Field's performance as Norma Rae was a truly spectacular performance, there was another that year who was far more deserving of the Oscar. In The Rose, which was her first leading role, Bette showed such skill and range that i truly don't know how the Academy even considered anyone else's performance. In one scene Bette went from scared to happy to angry to sad and then start all over again. And all that was in less than a minute. While i do agree the other nominees were good, Bette was the true Oscar winner.

While Mary is typically known for her character on her show with a cheery disposition, in 1980 she got a chance to show off her darker and angrier side in Ordinary People. Playing a mother that either can't or simply won't love her child Mary portrayed a truly sad character and how she seemed immune to all of the heartbreak around her. With this she gained her only career nomination, yet she lost to Sissy Spacek in Coal Miner's Daughter.

In 2000 Julia Roberts gave the best performance of her career and won a well deserved Oscar. The only problem was that in the same year Ellen Burstyn gave not only the greatest performance of her career as well, but one of the greatest performances of all time. Playing a woman who becomes horribly addicted to diet pills and in the end she finally loses it all, Ellen showed such range and it was almost truly scary how perfect her performance truly was. This is the perfect case of how the Academy thought it was Julia's time and then didn't give it to the person who truly deserved it, in this case Ellen Burstyn. Other nominees were Laura Linney(You Can Count On Me), Juliette Binoche(Chocolat), and Joan Allen(The Contender)

In 1985 a then completely unknown Oprah Winfrey auditioned for the role of Sophia in The Color Purple. She won the part and played the role with such skill and ability. Her acting was so beautiful in a way words simply can't describe, one wouldn't even think it was possible for any of the other nominees, Margaret Avery(The Color Purple), Angelica Houston(Prizzi's Honor and winner), Meg Tilly(Agnes of God), and Amy Madigan(Twice in a Lifetime) had a chance. However, due to her being a newcomer and the Academy being a little biased, the Oscar went to Angelica. I've seen Prizzi's Honor and I can honestly say that between Angelica and Oprah, Angelica can't even hold a candle to Oprah's Performance. Oprah was robbed.

When I heard that Gabourey Sidibe was nominated for a best actress Oscar in 2010 i couldn't believe it, i was so excited for her to win. It was her first movie and I was sure not one of the other nominees, Sandra Bullock(The Blindside and Winner), Meryl Streep(Julie and Julia), Carey Mulligan(An Education), and Hellen Mirren(The Last Station) had a chance against that great of a performance. Apparently I was wrong. Even though her performance was truly beautiful, skillful and heartbreaking, and done with such ability that is beyond her years, the Academy must not have payed too close attention to her performance because they gave the Oscar to Sandra Bullock, and anybody with half a brain who saw Precious and The Blindside knows that Gabourey deserved the Oscar.

In 2009 Penelope Cruz won an Oscar for supporting actress for her performance in Vicki Christina Barcelona. However there was someone else more deserving that year. Penelope however did have one year where she was the rightful winner and that was in 2006 for her performance in Volver. Her emotions were perfect and most of the time you could just look into her eyes and all you could see was the pain, sadness, suffering, anger and pretty much anything else all in just one look at her eyes. Although the other nominees, Judi Dench(Notes on a Scandal), Meryl Streep(The Devil Wears Prada), Kate Winslet(Little Children), and Hellen Mirren( The Queen and winner), all had good performances Penelope's truly shined more so than any of her fellow nominees. The Academy must not have noticed.

In 2009 the woman who was most deserving of the Oscar for supporting actress was Viola Davis for her performance in Doubt. While the other nominees including Penelope Cruz(Vicky, Christina, Barcelona and winner), Amy Adams(Doubt), Taraji P. Henson(The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), and Marisa Tomei(The Wrestler) all gave truly amazing performance, Viola's was completely beyond amazing. Her role only had ten minutes and five seconds of screen time but in only that she made such a huge impression. Five seconds of it is just her silently crying in the end. The other ten minutes she has with Meryl Streep and she somehow manages to outshine Meryl in every moment of that scene. Not many people have that ability, and it needs to noticed when the person does. The Academy must not have noticed this because they gave the Oscar to Penelope.

Amy Adams has been nominated three times now for best supporting actress all for great performances. However, the one i truly think got away was in 2011 for her role as Charlene in The Fighter. While her fellow nominees including, Melissa Leo(The Fighter and winner), Jacki Weaver(Animal Kingdom), Haley Steinfeld(True Grit), and Helena Bonham Carter(The Kings Speech) all were great performances, as 2011 was a great year for acting, Amy's role was her best to date and it was her most different role so far too. She had such great power and in every scene she was in she always seemed to steal the show. The Academy seemed to overlook this and then gave the Oscar to Melissa Leo.

Oh Academy why do you hate Glenn Close so much? Five nominations and no wins. She deserved most of those, however the one she deserved above all is for her performance as Alex Forrest in Fatal Attraction in 1987. While portraying the other woman who absolutely refuses to be brushed off after a one night stand, Glenn showed such amazing skill, ability, talent, and emotional range in so many places that it seemed her fellow nominees, Cher(Moonstruck and winner), Meryl Streep(Ironweed), Sally Kirkland(Anna), and Holly Hunter(Broadcast News) wouldn't stand a chance. Sadly the Academy gave the Oscar to Cher and as much as i love Moonstruck, I really don't know how Cher did that.

Teri Garr's only career nomination came from when she was in Tootsie in 1982. With not very much screen time she showed us just the right amount of crazy and insecurity to make her character not only loveable, but superbly acted. While not the best year for supporting actress other nominees include, Jessica Lange(Tootsie and winner), Lesley Anne Warren(Victor/Victoria), Glenn Close(The World According to Garp), and Kim Stanley(Frances), Teri's performance was the best out of the bunch. Yet the Academy decided to award Jessica Lange's decent but truly mediocre performance in Tootsie.

Although she may already have two Oscars, in 1981 Meryl Streep starred in a movie called The French Lieutenant's Woman and she was simply amazing in her first leading role. Showing off that beautiful talent and ability that she has, she showed great vulnerabilty and suffering, that fellow nominees, Diane Keaton(Reds), Katherine Hepburn(On Golden Pond), Susan Sarandon(Atlantic City), and Marsha Mason(Only When I Laugh) shouldn't have stood a chance. The Academy however decided to make history and awarded Katherine Hepburn her fourth Oscar for her cute old lady performance in On Golden Pond.

Oh Academy, why do hate Judy Garland so much. Judy gave the greatest performance for and Actress in history in A Star is Born in 1950. Not a single other nominee that year, Grace Kelly(The Country Girl and winner), Audrey Hepburn(Sabrina), Dorothy Dandridge(Carmen Jones), and Jane Wyman(Magnificent Obsession), could possibly come close to her. In A Star Is Born, her character started out with such innocence and after meeting Norman Maine she starts to crumble as he does and the portrayal of her losing that innocence was truly such an amazing performance that the Academy just had to give her the Oscar right....wrong. Even though simply her singing The Man That Got Away was worthy enough, Grace Kelly still managed to get the Oscar.

In 1975 Ann-Margret was nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of Nora Walker(Tommy's mother) in The Who's Tommy. Every one of her lines was sung, and the sheer amount of emotion coming from her in every syllable was truly and completely amazing. When she had no lines all her emotions poured out of her eyes, body, and actions. The other nominees that year, Louise Fletcher(One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest and winner), Glenda Jackson(Hedda), Isabelle Adjani(The Story of Adele H), and Carol Kane(Hester Street), didn't even begin to come close to that magnificent of a performance. Now Academy did Louise Fletcher do good? Yes i think she did. Was she good enough to win an Oscar? Not when this performance was in the race.

Ronee Blakley got her only single career Oscar nomination for the incredible Robert Altman film Nashville. Fellow Nominees include, her co-star Lily Tomlin(Nashville), Lee Grant(Shampoo and winner), Brenda Vaccaro(Once is Not Enough), and Sylvia Miles(Farewell, My Lovely). Ronee played country singer Barbara Jean whose star is shining, yet her life is slowly dimming. Her breakdowns throughout the film in private, or on stage are truly heartbreaking and she makes you feel as if you are breaking down with her. The Academy gave the Oscar to Lee Grant for Shampoo and i just have to ask you Academy, WHAT IN THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING???

Juliette Lewis gave one of the most stunning and terrific performances when she played Danielle Bowden in Cape Fear. This being her big breakthrough performance, Juliette showed the movie industry and critics alike how talented she truly is when she ad-libbed that whole scene with Robert DeNiro in the auditorium. That was only the tip of the iceberg however, cause through the rest of the movie she kept your attention focused and her every word, emotion, and action. I can honestly say that none of her fellow nominees, Kate Nelligan(Prince of Tides), Diane Ladd(Rambling Rose), Jessica Tandy(Fried Green Tomatoes), and Mercedes Ruehl(The Fisher King and winner) did that in any of their performances. Why Academy did you not give her the Oscar?

Queen Latifah earned a well deserved Oscar nomination for her role as Matron "Mama" Morton in Chicago. The only problem was she didn't receive her well deserved Oscar. Other nominees include Kathy Bates(About Schmidt), Catherine Zeta-Jones(Chicago and winner), Julianne Moore(The Hours), and Meryl Streep(Adaptation). While Catherine truly did an amazing job as Velma Kelly, Queen Latifah seemed a lot more captivating and had a much better performance with considerably less screen time. Queen Latifah was robbed.

I used to think Renee Zellweger deserved the Oscar for best supporting actress she received for her role as Ruby in Cold Mountain. Then I saw House of Sand and Fog, and i was immediately corrected. Shohreh had such a truly beautiful yet heartbreaking performance that when you first see her on screen she so much as looks up from the table and your attention is captured. Throughout the film her performance is so delicate like a piece of glass you keep squeezing as it cracks and cracks and eventually it finally breaks in the end. Her fellow Nominees, Renee Zellweger(Cold Mountain and winner), Marcia Gay Harden(Mystic River), Patricia Clarkson(Pieces of April), and Holly Hunter(Thirteen), came absolutely nowhere near that truly great of a performance. Shohreh, i'm so sorry the Academy is blind.

So I know I already have Nicole Kidman as who I wanted as the winner, however I'm now thinking a tie was in order. Jennifer Lawrence gave such a spectacular performance in Winter's Bone, It pretty much paved her way as an actress and rightfully so. At only twenty she acted with such skill and precision that Her nomination could have (and should have) easily won her an Oscar. So Academy, I ask you this, What is your problem with awarding young actors, because you should have started correcting yourselves with Jennifer.

Alan Alda has had what could quite possibly be said as one of the most interesting careers ever. Sensational in MASH and just as good in his own films, he scored only one Oscar nomination in 2005 for his performance as Sen. Owen Brewster in The Aviator. He gave one of the greatest performances I've ever seen him give, and he rightfully could have won, and should have won, the Oscar that year. Unfortunately the Academy saw it as Morgan Freeman's time and gave him the Oscar for Million Dollar Baby. Now with all due respect to the Morgan Freeman, if you're going to award him give the award for a role where he earned it like The Shawshank Redemption. Alan Alda was robbed.

The year is 1954 and Judy Garland made a huge comeback with A Star IS Born, yet she got screwed over by the Academy. However, she wasn't the only one that got screwed that year. James Mason, her co-star and the leading man of A Star is Born. James Mason gave such a heartbreaking performance as Norman Maine. Mostly acted with silent emotion, you could see the pain heartbreak, disappointment in his eyes as he slowly went on a downward spiral, never to come back up again. He acted with such skill and precision that nobody could match him that year. Not even Marlon Brando who the Academy gave the Oscar to.
