- DirectorRian JohnsonStarsDaisy RidleyJohn BoyegaMark HamillRey develops her abilities with the help of Luke Skywalker, as the Resistance prepares for battle against the First Order.(01-01-18) (L). Seen once more within a different venue and company. On a second viewing, it comes across as a plausible member of the Star Wars canon. Not too bad.

- DirectorAdam RobitelStarsLin ShayeLeigh WhannellAngus SampsonParapsychologist Dr. Elise Rainier faces her most fearsome and personal haunting yet, as she is drawn back to her ghostly childhood home where the terror began.(24-01) (H). Seemed to need a few more minutes to expand the story, even with its running-time as it is, then it would then have been a little more interesting. Not too bad either.
- DirectorAlexander PayneStarsMatt DamonChristoph WaltzHong ChauA social satire in which a man realizes he would have a better life if he were to shrink himself to five inches tall, allowing him to live in wealth and splendor.(24-01) (H). - DirectorDavid AlonsoEnrique GatoStarsMichelle JennerAdriana UgarteÓscar BarberánTad Jones, the most awkward explorer, must rescue his beloved Sara from a millionaire who is looking for King Midas' necklace.(03-02) (L). Okay but it feels a tad plain in its imagery.
- DirectorWes BallStarsDylan O'BrienKi Hong LeeKaya ScodelarioYoung hero Thomas embarks on a mission to find a cure for a deadly disease known as "The Flare".(05-02) (H). A tad over-long with the possibility of perhaps twenty minutes being cut. A dull affair with the exception of its ending, simply because...it ended. No need for a rewatch for this no brainer.
- DirectorRyan CooglerStarsChadwick BosemanMichael B. JordanLupita Nyong'oT'Challa, heir to the hidden but advanced kingdom of Wakanda, must step forward to lead his people into a new future and must confront a challenger from his country's past.(13-02) (L). - DirectorJohn KrasinskiStarsEmily BluntJohn KrasinskiMillicent SimmondsA family struggles for survival in a world where most humans have been killed by blind but noise-sensitive creatures. They are forced to communicate in sign language to keep the creatures at bay.(11-04) (K). Silence has never spoken so loudly with this creature-feature that packs an intense narrative and opposing viva voce.
- DirectorSteven S. DeKnightStarsJohn BoyegaScott EastwoodCailee SpaenyJake Pentecost, son of Stacker Pentecost, reunites with Mako Mori to lead a new generation of Jaeger pilots, including rival Lambert and 15-year-old hacker Amara, against a new Kaiju threat.(11-04) (K). Extremely formalistic and adherently obeying every rule in the book. Even with its minor point's this can be an okay film that can, also, have time for a yawn or two by its final act.
- DirectorAnthony RussoJoe RussoStarsRobert Downey Jr.Chris HemsworthMark RuffaloThe Avengers and their allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.(26-04) (S) (IMAX 3D). Hiding within the guise of 3D IMAX could not hide the fact that this is simply an outstretched franchise that turns in on its self with repetitive narrative. Certainly not worth a rewatch but it does kill a rainy afternoon. Why do they bother? Why do I bother? Where there's muck, there's brass.
- DirectorBrad PeytonStarsDwayne JohnsonNaomie HarrisMalin AkermanWhen three different animals become infected with a dangerous pathogen, a primatologist and a geneticist team up to stop them from destroying Chicago.(27-04) (H). Fun and not too taxing, if at all, worth a second look.
- DirectorAnthony RussoJoe RussoStarsRobert Downey Jr.Chris HemsworthMark RuffaloThe Avengers and their allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.(29-04) (L). Deadpool) assembles a team of fellow mutant rogues to protect a young boy with abilities from the brutal, time-traveling cyborg Cable.(25-5) (H). Has its moments but cannot live up to its first installment. Tries too hard to become what its first was; witty, fun and breaking the fourth wall wasn't quite the bore, as too, the external film references' was during the first. Time to pull the plug on this pool?
- DirectorRon HowardStarsAlden EhrenreichWoody HarrelsonEmilia ClarkeDuring an adventure in the criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his future co-pilot Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian years before joining the Rebel Alliance.(27-5) (L). A real surprise here, Disney are pulling out all it has to perpetuate the Star Wars saga, and this piece of the jigsaw is no loss. Dark, gritty and exciting, both visually and within its narrative; a real space-cowboy sci-fi action film with an added Star War zest.
- DirectorJohn StevensonStarsJohnny DeppJames McAvoyEmily BluntGarden gnomes, Gnomeo and Juliet recruit renowned detective Sherlock Gnomes to investigate the mysterious disappearance of other garden ornaments.(03-6) (K). While okay for one showing all would be bored on a second viewing, as too the storyline and dull graphics. Nice try...
- DirectorJ.A. BayonaStarsChris PrattBryce Dallas HowardRafe SpallWhen the island's dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen and Claire mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.(12-06) (S-3D-VIP). Finally, a film within the franchise that works, to a point, on an adult level that involves more than the repetitive concept already seen. Risen, not fallen here.
- DirectorPeyton ReedStarsPaul RuddEvangeline LillyMichael PeñaAs Scott Lang balances being both a superhero and a father, Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym present an urgent new mission that finds the Ant-Man fighting alongside The Wasp to uncover secrets from their past.(03-08) (S-VIP). Pardon? Seriously? Extremely weak plot that only involves a more than short cast too bring this film to its knees. Unadventurous and dull. Shame.
- DirectorJon TurteltaubStarsJason StathamBingbing LiRainn WilsonA group of scientists exploring the Marianas Trench encounter the largest marine predator that has ever existed - the Megalodon.(14-08) (H). With its massive plothole to then propel this just about okay film to the level of summer creature-feature can work. Humour and suspense win this over. Worth a second look.
- DirectorGenndy TartakovskyStarsAdam SandlerAndy SambergSelena GomezCount Dracula and company participate in a cruise for sea-loving monsters, unaware that their boat is being commandeered by the monster-hating Van Helsing family.(15-08) (C) (wL). Kids will love it, give it a try...

- DirectorAaron HorvathPeter Rida MichailStarsGreg CipesScott MenvilleKhary PaytonA villain's maniacal plan for world domination sidetracks five teenage superheroes who dream of Hollywood stardom.(17-08) (L) (wL). Borderline puerile and childish but it, somehow, gets away with it, just.

- DirectorSpike LeeStarsJohn David WashingtonAdam DriverLaura HarrierRon Stallworth, an African American police officer from Colorado Springs, Colorado, successfully infiltrates the local Ku Klux Klan branch aided by a Jewish surrogate who eventually becomes its leader. Based on actual events.(09-09-(H). Mr. Lee has just entered the room, things are about to get interesting.
- DirectorShane BlackStarsBoyd HolbrookTrevante RhodesJacob TremblayWhen a young boy accidentally triggers the universe's most lethal hunters' return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled scientist can prevent the end of the human race.(15-09) (K). Surely the biggest disappointment of the year so far. What was expected to be a well deserved add-on to the Predator franchise simply, and quickly, turn's itself into a tangible bore fest.
A family affair rather than bug hunt sytle narritive that failed to transcend into any high interest or valve. Dull, boring and simply easily very forgettable. Major disappointment. - DirectorJames MarshStarsMichael CaineFrancesca AnnisOlivia Le AndersenA true crime movie about a crew of retired crooks who pull off a major heist in London's jewelry district. What starts off as their last criminal hurrah, quickly turns into a brutal nightmare due to greed.(18-09) (H). This Working Title (via NBCUniversal) production contains a thoroughbred of English aristocracy. A simple production to witness but an extremely interesting production too. A very British film, concerning cast, location, narrative and culture, very much worth a look for those with an interest of the full English. Very good.
- DirectorEli RothStarsJack BlackCate BlanchettOwen VaccaroA young orphan named Lewis Barnavelt aids his magical uncle in locating a clock with the power to bring about the end of the world.(24-09) (L). - DirectorRuben FleischerStarsTom HardyMichelle WilliamsRiz AhmedA failed reporter is bonded to an alien entity, one of many symbiotes who have invaded Earth. But the being takes a liking to Earth and decides to protect it.(03-10) (K). To put it simply; this shambles of a movie is a dreadful example of tedium, simplicity and nausea. This project fulfils the whim of those who are so very easily entertained. I'm embarrassed to admit I seen this rubbish.
- DirectorJohn CarpenterStarsDonald PleasenceJamie Lee CurtisTony MoranFifteen years after murdering his sister on Halloween night 1963, Michael Myers escapes from a mental hospital and returns to the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois to kill again.(10-10) (H).
