I am one of those people that grew up with DreamWorks more so then Disney. I love Disney, don't get me wrong, but DreamWorks is a company I personally have a unique feeling towards. They have given me movie experiences that I will never forget, delivering films of many kinds of variety. DreamWorks is a major competitor to Disney, and may be the greatest competitor to Disney ever. They have managed to beat Disney at their own game on more then one occasion. To pay respect, here are my 10 favorite animated films made by the one and only DreamWorks Animation. Come fly with me! Enjoy!

- DirectorDean DeBloisChris SandersStarsJay BaruchelGerard ButlerChristopher Mintz-PlasseA hapless young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself, and learns there may be more to the creatures than he assumed. Here it is, my favorite film made by DreamWorks. It's kind of a no-brainer. Regarded as DreamWorks best film overall this offers everything you could want in a film. Not just animation, but movies in general. This film gives many live-action films a run for it's money. What stands out? Well...Toothless!!!! He is the reason I care so much about this franchise. I have gotten so deeply invested in him that he himself made me fall in love with this film. Forget the other characters, Toothless alone makes this my number one film by DreamWorks. Also the amazing music by John Powell is absolutely breathtaking and epic. Oh I have one thing to say to the Oscars for not giving him the award. (Clears throat) #@$% you!!!!! (Calms down) No matter, I still love this film no matter what. How to Train Your Dragon is the best film by DreamWorks! I love Toothless, and I love this film + tenfold. Oh yeah! Come fly with me!!!!!!!
- DirectorDean DeBloisStarsJay BaruchelCate BlanchettGerard ButlerWhen Hiccup and Toothless discover an ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. Can we just say that HTTYD has a world of it's own? No film by DreamWorks can't possibly touch the magnitude of this franchise. How to Train Your Dragon 2 is what I'd expect from a sequel plus tenfold. Where do I begin with this? This film is as close to perfect as you'll get. First of all the thing that stands out the most is breathtaking animation on the characters and the environment. Secondly, the character relationships are genuine, especially Toothless and Hiccup. But for me what I love most about this is Toothless himself. What a magnificent dragon! They put him more on display and show his prowess and mass as a character and his abilities. Abilities we never knew until now. I couldn't imagine this franchise without him. In fact, he's the reason why this works, if Toothless was some other dragon it may not have worked. But because he is so darn awesome, and adorable he makes the franchise more then what it could have been. I can't wait to see what Toothless has to offer as the franchise goes on.
- DirectorChris MillerStarsAntonio BanderasSalma HayekZach GalifianakisAn outlaw cat, his childhood egg-friend, and a seductive thief kitty set out in search for the eggs of the fabled Golden Goose to clear his name, restore his lost honor, and regain the trust of his mother and town. After Chris Miller's failure to direct Shrek the Third he returns to show he can direct a solid film. I was floored when I heard DreamWorks was making a spin-off of Puss in Boots. So when the film finally hit theaters I was excited and what I got was exactly what I paid to see. A dark, gritty, western-like film with a lot of dramatic scenes. Unlike Shrek, this isn't as funny, but more, like I said, dark, gritty, and a massive risk taker. I love this film.
- DirectorAndrew AdamsonKelly AsburyConrad VernonStarsMike MyersEddie MurphyCameron DiazShrek and Fiona travel to the Kingdom of Far Far Away, where Fiona's parents are King and Queen, to celebrate their marriage. When they arrive, they find they are not as welcome as they thought they would be.This isn't just one of the best animated films of all time, but one of the best comedies of all time. A film that takes a hilarious shot at some of our favorite fairytales like Cinderella, Snow White, and many more outrageously funny puns. But where there is the funny it also has the adventurous and dramatic moments as well making this a film with ogre-like layers.
- DirectorMark OsborneJohn StevensonStarsJack BlackIan McShaneAngelina JolieTo everyone's surprise, including his own, Po, an overweight, clumsy panda, is chosen as protector of the Valley of Peace. His suitability will soon be tested as the valley's arch-enemy is on his way.Kung Fu Panda is a perfect example of "don't judge a book (movie) by it's cover." When this was coming out, people were saying it was going to be horrible, and what was DreamWorks thinking? But now we can look back and say, "Good job, DreamWorks!" This is one kick-ass film if there ever was one. I like this movie strictly for the characters. Po is a very relatable main character, Tigress is a total badass with an interesting character trait, she's also mysterious in her past life. Shifu is a fun, funny, and enjoyable character masterly voiced by Dustin Hoffman. Great film!
- DirectorAndrew AdamsonVicky JensonStarsMike MyersEddie MurphyCameron DiazA mean lord exiles fairytale creatures to the swamp of a grumpy ogre, who must go on a quest and rescue a princess for the lord in order to get his land back. The film that built DreamWorks into a major competitor. I love this film, as I never seen an animated film like it with humor I'd never expect from an animated film and just an all-around great film.
- DirectorJennifer Yuh NelsonStarsJack BlackAngelina JolieJackie ChanPo and his friends fight to stop a peacock villain from conquering China with a deadly new weapon, but first the Dragon Warrior must come to terms with his past.No kung Fu movie before or after it has floored me more then this one. Action...action...action, and really witty dialog make this a must watch for any movie fan. I am a huge fan of this franchise for a good reasons. Po, Tigress, and Shifu are the greatest characters in the whole entire thing.
- DirectorEric DarnellTim JohnsonLawrence GutermanStarsWoody AllenSharon StoneGene HackmanA rather neurotic ant tries to break from his totalitarian society while trying to win the affection of the princess he loves.A big bang theory of a movie that launched DreamWorks into the studio we know and love today. Antz is a complex film with stunning animation especially for a new company. But this would only be the beginning of DreamWorks success.
- DirectorEric DarnellTom McGrathConrad VernonStarsBen StillerJada Pinkett SmithChris RockThe Madagascar animals join a struggling European circus to get back to New York, but find themselves being pursued by a psychotic animal-control officer. The Madagascar franchise never really grabbed me, until the third film came along. While the previous two were serviceable and somewhat funny, this one is engaging, funny, and really clever. Its rare to see a franchise get better as it goes on. The new characters are great like Gia, Vitaly, and Stefan. Keep it up DreamWorks.
- DirectorBrenda ChapmanSteve HicknerSimon WellsStarsVal KilmerRalph FiennesMichelle PfeifferEgyptian Prince Moses learns of his identity as a Hebrew and his destiny to become the chosen deliverer of his people.DreamWorks' best hand-drawn film, and my favorite of the collection of hand-drawn films by DreamWorks. Only the company's second film in existence and this really showed what DreamWorks is capable of. A very mature, and beautiful telling of the classic Moses story. This movie should be considered a classic itself, because it deserves that.
