In the hopes of secretly convincing his father to allow him to marry Tuptim, Chulalongkorn reveals his wish to marry someone for love instead of his father choosing his bride, but to no avail. Eventually, Tuptim discovers the truth of Chulalongkorn’s true identity and is heartbroken, believing they can never be together. However, unknown to Chulalongkorn and Tuptim, they are being watched by Master Little, the assistant to the Prime Minister, Kralahome who secretly plots to overthrow the king and rule Siam himself. When Master Little informs Kralahome of their relationship, he plans to use their love to his advantage. During the royal banquet, Kralahome insists Chulalongkorn present the royal pendant since only members of the royal family are permitted to wear it, but the king is shocked to learn his son has given it to someone else. Tuptim is dragged by the royal guards and presented to the king, exposing Chulalongkorn and Tuptim’s love for each other.

Chulalongkorn manages to free himself and Tuptim and they manage to sneak away. Devastated by all the trouble she’s caused him, Tuptim urges Chulalongkorn to return, believing she has only brought disgrace to him. Chulalongkorn assures Tuptim that she brought him true love and is willing to give up his title and royalty to be with her.
Chulalongkorn and Tuptim decide to run away together and with help from Anna’s son, Louis and their animals friends, they manage to escape the palace and travel into the jungle to leave Siam. However, Kralahome plots to kill the young lovers as the final push that will help him take over Siam once and for all and uses his powers to lure them to into his trap at the dangerous Valley of the Elephants. Tuptim falls off a bridge into the raging river and Chulalongkorn dives in after to rescue her, but the river is too strong and Chulalongkorn is unable to reach her.
