Jean Grey and Scott Summers are the main couple of "X-Men: Evolution". Since before the beginning of the series, Jean and Scott were the first recruits of the X-Men, both having known each other for longest and are best friends. Whenever Scott tends to be too serious, Jean is the only one who helps him to lighten up and have fun while also serving as the voice of reason for him. Scott is also the only person who realizes right away if something is bothering Jean and does his best to help her in any way possible. Scott is soon revealed to secretly be in love with Jean, but is too shy and nervous to confess his true feelings for her and is upset and jealous that she is dating his rival, Duncan Matthews.
However, it's eventually revealed the feelings are mutual. Despite her relationship with Duncan, Jean is secretly revealed to be in love with Scott, but also has difficulty admitting how she truly feels about him and gets jealous whenever other girls get close to him. Jean later becomes jealous and uncomfortable when Scott begins dating Tayrn, one of her friends from school. Although, they both struggle in confessing their feelings, everyone is highly well aware of their growing romance between them. Jean and Scott's friendship and relationship continues to grow stronger as the series progresses and at one point, they both establish a strong psychic bond and connection when Scott helps Jean when her powers grow too much for her to control. The feelings between them deepen after this incident and throughout the second season, they both attempt to confess their feelings several times, but remain unable while growing more jealous of their relationships with Duncan and Tayrn.
By season 3, Jean and Scott become closer than ever after mutants are exposed to the public, leaning on each other for support and both end their relationships with Duncan and Tayrn for good. Eventually, they both finally gain the courage to confess their feelings until they are interrupted when Scott must go to retrieve his brother until its revealed to be a trap set by Mystique. Due to the psychic bond created between them in the past, Jean senses Scott is in danger and rescues him and at long last, Jean and Scott finally become a couple. Although they were both shy to reveal their newly formed romantic relationship, they both establish a strong and committed romance through the rest of the series.
