Razer and Aya are the main couple of "Green Lantern: The Animated Series". Razer was a member of the Red Lanterns following the death of his beloved wife, Ilana until he turned against them and Aya is an artificial intelligence that served as the navigation computer on the Interceptor space ship.
Both Razer and Aya were members of Hal Jordan’s team as they traveled throughout Frontier Space to stop the Red Lanterns from conquering the galaxy. Originally, Razer did not really care for Aya, only seeing her as a robot and machine, but gradually throughout their adventures together, Razer and Aya started to grow closer and came to greatly care for one another, often saving each other in dangerous situations. Throughout the series, Razer and Aya’s influence on one another helped them to grow. Razer came to trust and care for his new friends and became a loyal and reliable teammate while Aya grew into her own person, developing her own feelings and emotions.
Eventually, Razer and Aya began to develop romantic feelings for each other until they came to realize they had fallen deeply in love with each other. Razer came to the realize his true feelings for Aya through the help of former enemies turned allies, the Star Sapphires when their portal transported him to Aya as the portal reunites those with their one true loves. In order to better understand his feelings, Razer spent time with the Blue Lanterns following the end of the Red Lantern War until he reunited with his friends and joined them in fighting their newest enemy, the Anti Monitor and the Manhunters. However, Razer started to become unsure and conflicted with his feelings for Aya. Razer was unsure if a relationship between him and Aya was possible since she was a robot and also feared he would forget about Ilana.
However, Razer slowly came to realize despite what he thought, he could not ignore his love for Aya as it grew stronger the closer they are together and gradually as it become more obvious to everyone around them. Eventually, Razer finally began to confront his feelings and almost kissed Aya while visiting his home world until they were interrupted. During a battle with the Anti-Monitor, Aya sacrificed herself to save Razer, causing her to become greatly injured and died, but not before Razer finally declared his love for her. Razer becomes depressed and heartbroken following Aya’s passing until it’s revealed she survived and they are reunited. However, shocked by the discovery of her survival, Razer believed his declaration of love was in the spur of the moment and takes back his confession. Heartbroken, Aya shuts down her emotions to destroy the Anti-Monitor, but in the process causes her to become corrupted and takes over its body and the Manhunters and aims to destroy all emotion in the universe.
Razer becomes guilt ridden over Aya’s corruption, blaming himself for what happened to her, but is determined to save her in any way possible and is no longer afraid in admitting his true feelings for her. However, when Aya becomes a more dangerous threat to the universe, everyone is faced with the prospect of harming or possibly killing Aya, but Razer outright refuses for her to be hurt in any way possible, knowing there is still a chance for her to be saved. Unfortunately, when Aya gains the power to time travel, planing to stop emotion and therefore life and creation, Razer begins to lose hope and believes she cannot be saved. Razer is later tasked in stopping Aya for good, but at the last moment he is unable to do so and is fatally wounded, causing Aya to finally realize the error of her ways. Aya manages to save Razer and they finally and officially declare their love once and for all. Unfortunately, Aya sacrifices herself to stop the Manhunters for good and disappears in Razer’s arms. By the end of the series, however, believing that Aya is still alive, Razer decides to travel alone into space to find her and is soon followed by a Blue Lantern ring.
