It's The Simpsons (1989) 30th anniversary! Starting on The Tracey Ullman Show (1987) as a series of short animated skits, creator Matt Groening managed to green light a prime time animated series based on his dysfunctional family with the first episode airing on December 17th 1989. The Simpsons (1989) became a cultural phenomenon throughout the 1990s, and still manages to air on television, holding the position as the longest running prime time comedy and animated series!
