Antonio Banderas, one of Spain's most famous faces, was a soccer player until breaking his foot at the age of fourteen; he is now an international movie star known for playing Zorro in the eponymous movie series.
He was born José Antonio Domínguez Banderas on August 10, 1960, in Málaga, Andalusia, Spain. His father, Jose Dominguez, was a policeman in the Spanish civil guards. His mother, Doña Ana Banderas Gallego, was a school teacher. Young Banderas was brought up a Roman Catholic. He wanted to play soccer professionally and made much success playing for his school team until the age of 14, albeit his dream ended when he broke his foot. At that time, he developed a passion for theatre after seeing the stage production of "Hair". Banderas began his acting studies at the School of Dramatic Arts in Málaga, and made his acting debut at a small theatre in Málaga. He was arrested by the Spanish police for performance in a play by Bertolt Brecht, because of political censorship under the rule of General Francisco Franco. Banderas spent a whole night at the police station, he had three or four such arrests while he was working with a small theatre troupe that toured all over Spain and was giving performances in small town theatres and on the street.
In 1979, at age 19, he moved to Madrid in pursuit of an acting career. Being a struggling young actor, he also worked as a waiter and took small modeling jobs. At that time, he joined the troupe at the National Theatre of Spain, becoming the youngest member of the company. Banderas' stage performances caught the attention of movie director Pedro Almodóvar, who cast the young actor in his movie debut Labyrinth of Passion (1982). Banderas and Almodovar joined forces in making innovative and sexually provocative movies during the 1980s. In 1984, Banderas made headlines in Spain with his performance as a gay man, making his first male-to-male on-screen kiss in Almodovar's Law of Desire (1987). Banderas' long and fruitful collaboration with Pedro Almodóvar eventually prepared him for international recognition that came with his work in the Academy Award-nominated film Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (1988). In 1991, he appeared as an object of Madonna's affection in Madonna: Truth or Dare (1991).
In 1992, Banderas made his Hollywood debut with The Mambo Kings (1992). Because he did not speak English at that time, his dialogue for the movie was taught to him phonetically. Banderas shot to international fame with his sensitive performance as a lover of Tom Hanks' AIDS-infected lawyer in Philadelphia (1993), then played opposite Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994). Banderas further established himself as one of Hollywood's leading men after co-starring in Evita (1996) opposite Madonna in the title role. In 1998, he won acclaim for his portrayal of Zorro, opposite Anthony Hopkins and Catherine Zeta-Jones, in The Mask of Zorro (1998). For the role as Zorro, Banderas took training with the Olympic national fencing team in Spain, and practiced his moves with real steel swords, then he used the lighter aluminum swords in the movie. He also took a month-long course of horse-riding before the filming. He later returned to the role in The Legend of Zorro (2005). In 1999, Banderas made his directorial debut in Crazy in Alabama (1999), starring his wife, Melanie Griffith. He received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Mexican artist David Alfaro Siqueiros opposite Salma Hayek in Frida (2002). He voiced Puss in Boots in the Shrek franchise.
Banderas established himself as internationally known Latin heartthrob with charismatic looks, and was chosen as one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world by People magazine in 1996. He won numerous awards and nominations for his works in film, including three ALMA awards and three Golden Globe nominations, among many other. From 1996 to 2014, Banderas was married to American actress Melanie Griffith and the couple have one daughter, Stella (born 1996). Outside of his acting profession, Banderas has been a passionate soccer fan and a staunch supporter of the Real Madrid Football Club. He shares time between his two residencies, one in the United States, and one in the South of Spain.- Actor

Member of the Spanish comic duo "Cruz y Raya", together with José Mota. They met at the military service in 1985, and after leaving it they decided to go to Madrid in search of adventure, where they started their first show, known as '60 personajes en busca de humor' ('60 characters in search of humor'), imitating many famous people. This first show was very successful and soon they were given the opportunity to act at 'Caribiana', one of the most important night clubs in Madrid, where they were doing their performances until they got a contract with the 'Windsor' hall at the Gran Vía street, where they were acting for two years, until they reached the honor of being the kings of independent humor. Later, they started their radio career, with several programs ('Viva la gente divertida' (Antena 3 channel), Luis del Olmo), or Javier Sardà, who made them known to a big audience). Hugo Stuven gave them the opportunity to make their debut on TV with a slot in the program Raffaella Carrà's program 'Hola Raffaella'. In 1990 they made their debut at cinema with the film Ni se te ocurra... (1991), with a warm reception from the audience. Their next occupation was TV, doing special programs of great success, such as 'Colón Pirata' and 'No Smoking', the latter being nominated for the 'TP de Oro' award as the Best Special Program of 1993. During the summer of that year they had their own program, 'Abierto por vacaciones', which was #1 with audiences during its whole broadcast period. Their first 'hard' test arrived in the 1993's New Year's Eve. The comic duo 'Martes y Trece' decided to rest that year and TVE asked them to do the 1993 New Year's Eve's TV Special. They accepted and made a program named 'Este año, Cruz y Raya ¡Seguro!', after which the famous 12 bell strokes were broadcasted live. From that moment on Cruz y Raya have had their own program on TVE. In 1994 they made the series 'Perdiendo el juicio', 'VayaTele' and also the summer special 'Aquí hemos venido a lo que hemos venido', all of them with great success. From September 1995 until April 1996 they entertained the audience with a 30 minute series filled with sketches mixed with imitations and music events, and this series also reached #1 in audience during Friday nights. This success was unexpected for an only-humor program, and the next year they were back with a second season, with more or less the same format. In 1998, after a well-deserved rest from TV, they were back at TVE with the series 'Este no es el programa de los Viernes', their most successful appearance so far. Their comic phrases started to be heard in people's voice here and there ('Ja me maaten', 'Le quiero, Don Puente'). 1999 watched the appearance of their new success 'Estamos en directo', and at the end of the year they made the TVE 2000 New Year's Eve special: 'En efecto 2000'. This program shared an incredible 50% of the audience. During 2000 they made the series 'cruzyraya.com', in their classic format. At the end of 2000 they made the TVE 2001 New Year's Eve special again, titled this time '2001: Aunque sea en el espacio', which also reached a 50% share. In cinema, they had dubbed several animation films (Goomer (1999), Mulan (1998) (José), or the parrot of 102 Dalmatians (2000) (José, too). Juan made his debut as director with the film ¡Ja me maaten...! (2000), and José performed a little role as a beach watcher in the film _Torrente 2: Misión en Marbella (2001)_, and also a collaboration in the soundtrack. Nowadays they both are preparing several projects on their own, but their separation is very unlikely.- Actor

Miguel Ángel Muñoz belongs to that distinguished group of actors who, without being a member of a family of performers, seemed destined for the stage and show business since birth. He is not the sort of person whose image crystallized at a particular moment in time: he acts, dances, and sings naturally, in a very spontaneously way, as he was born to do. It comes so naturally to him that it is unthinkable that he pursue a different line of work.
These natural talents led him to debut on the silver screen at the age of 9 with a leading role in El palomo cojo, directed by Jaime de Armiñán (who some years earlier came within a hair's breadth of winning the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar for Mi querida señorita). Miguel Ángel's great artistic sensibility and capabilities secured him work in the cinema, theatre, television, dance and the recording industry before he was twenty, and he has enjoying great acclaim throughout the course of his career.
Due to his innate qualities and talents, his track record to date is spectacular. Miguel Ángel Muñoz has proved himself to be an actor with a wide range of registers, who defies typecasting in any genre. He is capable of taking on parts in comedy, drama, humor, tragedy or musicals, be it on film, on stage, or on television. In other words: he is an actor in the broadest sense of the word. Yet one thing about Miguel Ángel Muñoz deserves special emphasis. His natural acting talent has been, and no doubt will continue to be, the key asset in his professional career. His human qualities are impressive, both at a personal level and as demonstrated in his work. We mean not only that he is a tireless worker and a responsible, level-headed person, but also someone with a striking ability to create a magnificent working atmosphere wherever he works.
Miguel Ángel Muñoz -having tasted notable success at an early age- has always managed to keep his feet firmly on the ground. He has a sixth sense for detecting tensions common to this line of work and creating harmonious environments as well as developing personal relationships with his colleagues. All of the directors, actors, production teams, etc., that have worked alongside him can vouch for this. We mention this since it is undoubtedly another key aspect in the development of his method of work.
On film he has worked in drama, comedy, terror, epic and even animation dubbing Brad Pitt's voice in DreamWorks' production Sinbad: The Legend of the Seven Seas. He has made appearances in numerous TV series in Spain, in various types of roles, often as the leading man, as in Un Paso Adelante (the series with greatest sales in the history of Spanish television) or El Sindrome de Ulises (The Ulysses' Syndrome), which FOX is preparing to remake for the USA.
His stage roles include the narrator of Mozart's first opera, Bastien und Bastienne at the Teatro Real of Madrid, one of the most prestigious theatres in Europe, and the starring role of Antonio Skármeta's El cartero de Neruda (The Postman), in which he gave an outstanding performance. He has recorded albums that have sold in the thousands both in Spain and abroad, bringing him several Platinum records.
He has performed live music as a special guest at the San Remo Festival, and alongside artists of the stature of Janet Jackson.
More detailed information can be found in his resume.
While he could have carried on with his musical career thanks to the sales of his records throughout Europe and the success of his live performances, instead Miguel Ángel Muñoz has channeled his professional efforts into acting, thus heeding the powerful call he has heard since the days of his youth. After he completing his role in the remake of Ben Hur, directed by Steve Shill (The Tudors, Rome, Dexter), he perfected his already advanced English. This has enabled him to act in both Spanish and English with equal ease, be it in feature films, on stage, or on the small screen.
Miguel Ángel has not stopped working since beginning his career over 20 years ago. Films like No controles directed by Borja Cobeaga (short film nominated for an Oscar), the short film Adios Papá, Adios mama, nominated for the 25th Goya Awards, for which Miguel Ángel received the award for best actor in the Alfas del Pi Festival, or Tension Sexual no Resuelta are among his latest titles in this recent years.
In addition, last years has been especially intense in Miguel Ángel Muñoz's professional career as an actor, as he has been involved in many projects in the field of cinema, TV and theatre, both nationally and internationally. One of these projects has been his role as one of the main characters in What about love, together with Sharon Stone and Andy García. The international film was directed by Klaus Menzel with a script by the Oscar award-winner Douglas Day Stweart (An Officer and a Gentleman).
Furthermore, he has played a leading part in the cast of the successful HBO series Capadocia, first broadcast in Latin America, and nominated for three International Emmy Awards, whose USA broadcast launch will be in September 2013.
In addition to the aforementioned projects, the TV series Infames launched and broadcast in Cadena 3 México and Mundo Fox in the USA also occupies a special place, since it broke all viewer records for the network and sparked sharp controversy by addressing political subjects while a change of government was underway in Mexico. Miguel Ángel Muñoz will also take part in the cast for the film Viral, by Lucas Figueroa - who in 2010 achieved the Guinness World Record for directing and producing the most acclaimed short film in history, Por qué hay cosas que nunca se olvidan. Miguel Ángel is also part of the cast of the feature film Al final todos mueren (Eventually they all die), a project sponsored and coordinated by Javier Fesser.
His last series "Sin Identidad" (2014-2015) has been one of the most successful projects in the Spanish and Italian TV in the last years.
As the culmination of a brilliant career, Miguel Ángel Muñoz stars in the film "Hablar" directed by Joaquin Oristrell. This "one shot film" was presented in the 18th Malaga Film Festival receiving the best price from the young jury and Miguel's performance was acclaimed by the critic. In the more than 20 years of his professional career, Miguel Ángel Muñoz has been, and continues to be involved in an ongoing learning process, and he never ceases to grow as an actor: he placed himself in the hands of the master Juan Carlos Corazza in Madrid, he trained in Integrative Psychology in the S.A.T. Program in Argentina with Claudio Naranjo and subsequently studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Los Angeles. In 2015 he finished the Hoffman Process with Luis Fernando Camara.- Actor

Born in the city of Madrid , capital of Spain. He is the son of two entrepreneurs, the second of four children. His father started working at the age of thirteen and from there, he built a remarkably successful textile company in the center of the capital with his mother.
After finishing school, he decided to enroll in a degree in Sociology at the University Complutense of Madrid, to please a part of his family that frowned upon his dream of being part of such an unstable world. It didn't take too long for him to get into the university theatre group, where he met his soon to be mentor, Antonio Malonda. After two years and several theatrical productions, Malonda urges Gil to audition for the RESAD (Royal Consevatory of Dramatic Art of Madrid). One of 50 chosen from over 1700 applicants, Gil began his first year at the RESAD combining it with his third and final year of Sociology.
In 1997 Gil made his debut in the film "Resultado Final", directed by Juan Antonio Bardem (Honorary Goya winner).
In his second to last year at the RESAD, Gil was chosen by David Ottone, director of Yllana, a theatre company specializing in physical slapstick humor. Interested by the impressive academic results of the actor in the conservatory, Yllana, along with Gil, began a close collaboration that started with a two year tour in more than 20 countries around the world.
Gil then decided to leave the road to try his luck in television and landed a role in the TV show "Hospital Central" (2002/04). At the same time he was hired by the National Theater Company (Centro Dramático Nacional) for plays such as: "The Visit" by Dürrenmatt, "Story of a Stairway" by Antonio Buero Vallejo and many classic works including "Justice Without Revenge" by Lope de Vega.
His career really started to take off when he encarnated the legendary character of "Don Juan Tenorio" by Zorrilla at the Festival of Alcala de Henares before crowds of 40,000 spectators per show.
Success followed in 2005 when he played the lead in the hilarious comedy "Monty Python's Flying Circus", touring all of Spain. He was cast simultaneously in the TV show "Noche H" in which he played an eccentric journalist. There he had the opportunity to act alongside celebrities such as Tim Robbins, Penélope Cruz, Bruce Willis, Hilary Swank, Pedro Almodóvar, Steve Martin and Ralph Fiennes.
In the following years he played all kinds of characters in TV shows and in films including: Cuéntame Cómo Pasó (2006), Muchachada Nui (2007/08), La Tira (2008/09), Spanish Movie (2009), La que se Avecina (2010), Los Quién (2011) and Felipe y Letizia (2011), to name a few. In the latter film he starred as Felipe de Borbón and became the first actor ever to portray the Prince of Spain.
During these years he combined his work in film and television with theater and was involved in over a dozen productions, including Monty Python's musical, Spamalot, where he played several characters and was awarded the 2009 "Grand Vía" for Best Actor in a Musical Comedy.
In 2012 Fernando was selected by the Fundación Siglo de Oro Company to encarnate Henry VIII in The Shakespeare Globe to Globe Festival in London. This made Gil the first spanish actor ever to play a main character in The Globe Theatre. He received great reviews in leading newspapers such as The Guardian, where they praised his truthfulness on stage.
He has also portrayed another king, this time starring as the actual King of Spain, Juan Carlos I de Borbón, in the upcoming TV Movie "El Rey" (Tele 5).
He was awarded with the "Biznaga de Plata" for Best Supporting Actor at the 2013 Malaga Film Festival for his most recent film "Casting" by Jorge Naranjo.
Gil is presently shooting for the TV show "El Principe", where he plays a secret agent who is investigating a terrorist cell in Marocco. It is due to be released in 2014.
He recently returned from Los Angeles (California) where he performed Henry VIII at The Broad Stage in Santa Monica, garnering great reviews in newspapers such as the LA Times. There he met a renowned Hollywood agent who now manages Fernando Gil's career in the United States.
He has produced, directed and written many short films, for which he also composed and recorded the music, being an avid guitar player. Now aged twenty-three, Juan José is still present on the Spanish screens and is on the way for a long career.

Humorist and actor, popularly known as Tip. When he was 8 years old he moved to Madrid with his family, and in 1939 he started to attend secondary school, which didn't finish. In 1942 and 1943 he attended the Escuela de Cerámica where he studied cabinetmaking, ceramics and amateur theatre, with the intention of entering the Fine Arts School, and at that time he decided to become an actor. He acted as a trainee in 1944 at the María Guerrero theatre, and made his debut with the play 'De lo pintado a lo vivo'. Later, as a professional, he did all along Andalusia with the María Noé theatre company. In 1945 he entered Radio Madrid, where he made his radio debut in a children's program playing a character named 'Don Poeto Primavero de Quintillas'. He stayed in that radio station for 14 consecutive years, during which he formed with Joaquín Portillo Flores (Joaquín Portillo 'Top') the comic duo 'Tip y Top', which became very popular in Spain. They both together, apart from their radio appearances, worked in theatre and night clubs, wrote a book and made three films: Tres eran tres (1954), _Fierecilla domada, La (1955)_ and Tarde de toros (1956). In 1961 the couple broke off. Tip went on alone and started to work on TV with the program 'Las Zapatiestas'. In the early 60s, he started to work sporadically together with José Luis Coll, and finally they formed the comic duo 'Tip y Coll'. Since 1967 they worked together in many shows. At that time they made a film, La garbanza negra, que en paz descanse... (1972), where the clothing they used (formal, a top hat for Tip and a bowler hat for Coll) became their trademark since that moment on. They worked in night clubs, theatres and radio. In the beginning of 1969 they presented the TV program 'Galas del sábado'. Yet in the early 70s they had more than 15 films made, and presented their daily show at the Top-Less night club during at least 8 years. They also worked in the TV program '625 líneas', directed by José Antonio Plaza, where their sketches were frequently censored. After a poll made in 1979 by the 'Blanco y Negro' magazine, they appeared at the first place in the 'Top humorists of the year' list, followed by Antonio Mingote and Antonio Fraguas 'Forges'. Later, they continued their shows in nightclubs all over Madrid and Barcelona. In the 80s, Tip entered the radio program 'Protagonistas' (directed by Luis del Olmo) on the COPE station, and later the program 'Debate sobre el estado de la nación' on Onda Cero. Together with other participants from this latter program and simultaneously, he started his participation on 3 November 1993 in the weekly TV program 'Este país necesita un repaso' (directed by José Luis Coll) on the Tele 5 channel. In September 1997 he was hired by Onda Cero as a collaborator in the program 'La brújula', directed and presented by Concha García Campoy, where he had a section called 'Cuentos infantiles para personas de cierta edad'. After 15 years staying on the air with the program 'Debate sobre el estado de la nación', in September 1998 Luis del Olmo announced that the program would finish due to a disease suffered by Tip: a throat tumor. Among others, Luis Sánchez Polack has got the Pueblo journal's popularity award, the Ondas award and one of the Year's Protagonists' Awards given by the Onda Rambla de Barcelona station. He's been nominated a Honorary Member in many associations and circles. At the cabinet on 13 May 1994 he was given the Gold Medal for the Merit at Work. He also wrote several books, among which stand out 'Cantares del Mío Tip' (1980), 'Santos varones' (1995) and, together with Coll, 'Tipicoll spanish'. He also partipated in the TV programs La casa de los Martínez (1967) and "El último café". Some films to mention: Mónica Stop (1969), De cuerpo presente (1967), Dame un poco de amooor...! (1968), Urtain, el rey de la selva... o así (1970), El cronicón (1970).- Actor

Prolific, versatile, and ubiquitous character actor Aldo Sambrell was featured in over 140 international motion pictures in a remarkably long, varied, and illustrious career that spanned four and a half decades. Swarthy and burly, usually sporting a thick mustache, and often projecting an air of quiet oily menace, Sambrell was frequently cast in colorful supporting parts as hateful villains and lethal gunslingers in numerous Italian spaghetti Westerns. Sambrell was born Alfredo Sanchez Brell on February 23, 1931 in Madrid, Spain. His family fled Spain because of the Spanish Civil War and he was raised in Mexico. While in Mexico Aldo played professional soccer in the Mexican leagues in Pueblo and Monterrey. After beginning his career in the entertainment industry as a singer, Sambrell eventually returned to Spain and made his film debut in an uncredited bit role as a Jewish rebel in the biblical epic King of Kings (1961). Aldo appeared in his first spaghetti western in 1963. Sambrell was perhaps best known for his gritty portrayals of scruffy bandit gang members in Sergio Leone's classic spaghetti westerns A Fistful of Dollars (1964), For a Few Dollars More (1965), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) and C'era una volta questo pazzo, pazzo, pazzo West (1973). Sambrell gave a memorably chilling performance as ruthless bandit gang leader Mervyn Duncan in Navajo Joe (1966). He had a rare lead role as voodoo priest Gatenebo in the laughably lousy horror clunker Voodoo Black Exorcist (1974). Among the many directors Aldo worked for are David Lean, Richard Fleischer, John Milius, Sergio Corbucci, Umberto Lenzi, León Klimovsky, Jess Franco, Richard Lester, Jackie Chan, Charlton Heston, Matt Cimber and Enzo G. Castellari. Moreover, Sambrell also wrote, produced and directed a few films. He was married to actress Cándida López. His last film role was as an aging actor in the poignant short Río seco (2006). Aldo died at age 79 on July 10, 2010 in Alicante, Spain after suffering a series of strokes.- Roberto Camardiel was born on 29 November 1917 in Alagón, Zaragoza, Aragón, Spain. Member of the Spanish comic duo "Cruz y Raya", together with Juan Muñoz. They met in military service in 1985, and after leaving it they decided to go to Madrid in search of adventure, where they started their first show, known as '60 personajes en busca de humor' ('60 characters in search of humor'), imitating many famous people. This first show was very successful and soon they were given the opportunity to act at 'Caribiana', one of the most important night clubs in Madrid, where they performed until they got a contract with 'Windsor' hall on Gran Vía street, where they acted for two years, until they reached the honor of being the kings of independent humor. Later, they started their radio career, with several programs ('Viva la gente divertida' (Antena 3 channel), Luis del Olmo), and Javier Sardà, who made them known to a big audience). Hugo Stuven gave them the opportunity to make their debut on TV with a slot in the program _"Pero ¿esto que es?" (1989)_ (TVE channel). After this they got a whole TV program for themselves on channel Tele 5, and finally they went back to TVE with a collaboration in Raffaella Carrà's program 'Hola Raffaella'. In 1990 they made their debut in cinema with the film Ni se te ocurra... (1991), with a warm reception from the audience. Their next occupation was TV, doing special programs such as 'Colón Pirata' and 'No Smoking', the latter being nominated for the 'TP de Oro' award as the Best Special Program of 1993. During the summer of that year they had their own program, "Abierto por vacaciones", which was #1 with audiences during its whole broadcast period. Their first 'hard' test arrived with 1993's New Year's Eve. The comic duo 'Martes y Trece' decided to rest that year and TVE asked them to do the 1993 New Year's Eve's TV Special. They accepted and made a program named 'Este año, Cruz y Raya ¡Seguro!', after which the famous 12 bell strokes were broadcast live. From that moment on Cruz y Raya have always had their own program in TVE. In 1998, after a well-deserved rest from TV, they were back at TVE with the series Este no es el programa de los viernes (1998), their most successful appearance so far. Their comic phrases started to be heard in people's voice here and there ('Ja me maaten', 'Le quiero, Don Puente'). 1999 saw the appearance of their new success Estamos en directo (1999), and at the end of the year they made the TVE 2000 New Year's Eve special: En efecto 2000 (1999). This program shared an incredible 50% of the audience. In 2000 they made the series Cruz y raya.com (2000), in their classic format. At the end of 2000 they made the TVE 2001 New Year's Eve special again, titled this time 2001 aunque sea en el espacio (2000), which also reached a 50% share. In cinema, they had dubbed several animation films (Goomer (1999), Mulan (1998) (José), or the parrot of 102 Dalmatians (2000) (José, too). Juan made his debut as director with the film ¡Ja me maaten...! (2000), and José performed a little role as a beach watcher in the film Torrente 2: Misión en Marbella (2001), and also a collaboration in the soundtrack. Nowadays they both are preparing several projects on their own, but their separation is very unlikely.- Unax Ugalde was born on 27 November 1978 in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Álava, País Vasco, Spain.
