George Tomasini has been something of an unsung hero in the editing business. He was for several years under contract to Paramount, before joining Alfred Hitchcock to collaborate on nine projects, beginning with Rear Window (1954). This partnership was to span a ten-year period, ending in Tomasini's premature death from a massive heart attack at the age of 55. Hitch's subsequent films never again enjoyed the same level of artistic success. While Tomasini may not have had the same creative freedom in selecting his own shots as other editors, he nonetheless became highly intuitive about the director's wishes. Tomasini was a master of time and space in editing to heighten suspense and determine mood. Much of Hitch's best films were strongly driven by editing, in particular Vertigo (1958), North by Northwest (1959), Psycho (1960) and The Birds (1963) (another classic, the sub-Hitchcockian thriller Cape Fear (1962) also falls into this category, though directed by J. Lee Thompson).

After leaving school, Richard joined the ABC in Sydney with hopes of emulating his father, Jack Bruce, who worked as a cinematographer in Hollywood for Cecil B. De Mille and the Famous Lansky Players. However, the only opening at the time was in editing. He fell in love with the craft and spent 15 years with the ABC working on various current affairs and other programs before getting into drama. He left the ABC to work on the feature "Goodbye Paradise" before going on to "Careful He Might Hear You" and Kennedy Miller's "The Dismissal" and "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome". It was through George Miller's studio film "The Witches of Eastwick that Richard was introduced to Hollywood. He again worked for Miller on his 1992 film "Lorenzo's Oil". Richard got the job on "Shawshank Redemption" over 30 of Hollywood's best editors because the producer had a similar background (at the BBC) and took a liking to him. In June/July 1996 Richard visited Australia for the first time in four years and during that time spoke at a seminar at the Australian Film Television and Radio School entitled Frame By Frame, where he took the audience cut by cut through every aspect of the production of "Seven". He was also interviewed for the ABC- TV program "Review". Richard was also nominated for the Eddies (American Cinema Editor's Awards) for his work on "Shawshank" and "Seven" and in 1997 Richard was invited to become a member of the American Cinema Editors. In 1998 he received his third Oscar nomination for his work on "Air Force One", a fact which attracted considerable attention by the Australian TV and press. However, although it was hoped he would be third time lucky, the Oscar went to the blockbuster of the year Titanic. In 2001 he was again nominated by the Americian Cinema Editor's for his work on "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone .Se7en

Fitzgerald" in the 12 February 1960 episode of The Twilight Zone (1959), episode The Purple Testament (1960).
Reynolds also had a close relationship with Jack Webb. He had the lead role in Pete Kelly's Blues (1959), and had a memorable guest spot as "Sgt. William Riddle" on Dragnet 1967 (1967). His last role was on the Webb-produced series, Project U.F.O. (1978). His greatest success was as "Special Agent Tom Colby" (1967-1973) on The F.B.I. (1965).Godfather

John Gilbert was born into a show-business family - his father was a comic with the Pringle Stock Company. By 1915 John was an extra with Thomas H. Ince's company and a lead player by 1917. In those days he was assistant director, actor or screenwriter. He also tried his hand at directing. By 1919 he was being noticed in films and getting better roles. In 1921 he signed a three-year contract with Fox Films. His popularity continued to soar and he was turning from villain to leading man. In 1924 he signed with MGM which put him into His Hour (1924). In 1925 he appeared in the very successful The Big Parade (1925) and was, by now, as popular as Rudolph Valentino. Lillian Gish, who had a new contract with MGM, picked Gilbert to co-star with her in La Bohème (1926). With the death of Valentino, his only competition, John was on top of the world. Then came Greta Garbo, who starred with him in Love (1927), Flesh and the Devil (1926) and A Woman of Affairs (1928). The screen chemistry between these two was incredible and led to a torrid off-screen affair. The studio publicity department worked overtime to publicize the romance between the two, but when it came time to marry, John was left at the altar. His performances after that were devoid of the sparkle that he once had and he began to drink heavily. Added to that, the whole industry was moving towards sound, and while his voice was not as bad as some had thought, it did not match the image that he portrayed on the screen. Even his characters had changed, in such films as Redemption (1930) and Way for a Sailor (1930). He was no longer the person that bad things happened to, but he now was the cause of bad things which happen. MGM did little to help John adjust to the new sound medium, as studio chief Louis B. Mayer and Gilbert had a fierce and nasty confrontation over Garbo. John was still under contract to MGM for a very large salary, but the money meant little to him. His contract ran out in 1933 after he appeared in Fast Workers (1933) as a riveter.
Garbo tried to restore some of his image when she insisted that he play opposite her in Queen Christina (1933), but by then it was too late. He appeared in only one more film and died of a heart attack in January 1936.Hacksaw Ridge
