- DirectorJohn LasseterAsh BrannonLee UnkrichStarsTom HanksTim AllenJoan CusackWhen Woody is stolen by a toy collector, Buzz and his friends set out on a rescue mission to save Woody before he becomes a museum toy property with his roundup gang Jessie, Prospector, and Bullseye. What can I say about this film? While Toy Story 3 is still a fantastic film, I love this one more! It has a fantastic cast, a great story, some of the funniest moments ever made, and it was the introduction to the one girl who would change my life forever...
Jessie, the Yodeling Cowgirl
If you want to know why, I have 4 words for you: When She Loved Me. Before she came along, shows such as Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Inspector Gadget were my kind of shows, not that girly crap like Sailor Moon. That all changed when this scene came along! Holy CRAP!! I've never cared so much for a girl before, let alone a fictional one. Since then, even though I didn't know at the time, all the other shows that would later enter my life (Dave the Barbarian, Ben 10, Cardcaptor Sakura, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and yes, even Sailor Moon) would serve as an opportunity to find a female character to love and wait for an episode for that character to shine. All because of that one song, and that one sequence that made me care so much for that lovely beautiful cowgirl doll. - DirectorEdgar WrightStarsMichael CeraMary Elizabeth WinsteadKieran CulkinIn a magically realistic version of Toronto, a young man must defeat his new girlfriend's seven evil exes one by one in order to win her heart. This was a tough one to decide. With Scott, it's the best comedy graphic novel adaptation. With Speed Racer, it's the best anime adaptation. With Gadget 2, it's the best cartoon adaptation. With The Three Stooges, it the best classic adaptation. So to organize them was really tough, but in the end, I had to make Scott Pilgrim #2 simply because it's both visually amazing and hilarious. Kieran Culkin was the scene stealer in this film. He was brilliant.
- DirectorLana WachowskiLilly WachowskiStarsEmile HirschMatthew FoxChristina RicciYoung driver, Speed Racer, aspires to be champion of the racing world with the help of his family and his high-tech Mach 5 automobile.Don't get me wrong. Putting this behind Scott Pilgrim doesn't change the fact that I still love this movie. Speed Racer is the perfect example of how a live action cartoon movie should be done. Actors who look and sound like their characters, a story that fits well with the continuity of the show, and visuals that match those of the cartoon (the speed lines)! Seriously, I'm so mad that this didn't do well at the box office, and you only have yourself to blame for that!
- DirectorBobby FarrellyPeter FarrellyStarsSean HayesChris DiamantopoulosWill SassoWhile trying to save their childhood orphanage, Moe, Larry, and Curly inadvertently stumble into a murder plot and wind up starring in a reality television show.I know what you're thinking: how can a movie like this with stupid humour and stupid slapstick make it to your top 10? Simple. I KNOW about The Three Stooges. Unlike some people who seems to think Jersey Shore is the best thing ever, I know about the classics from back when, and as a result, I truly admired what was achieved with this film. A wonderful and hilarious tribute to one of the greatest comedy trios of all time. Not to mention seeing the Jersey Shore cast get the CRAP beaten out of them by Moe!
- DirectorAlex ZammStarsFrench StewartElaine HendrixTony MartinInspector Gadget returns in this sequel to the 1999 hit. A glitched Gadget once again must fight his arch nemesis, Claw, with the aid of a female Gadget: G2.THIS is how the first Inspector Gadget movie should've been done. Just like Steve Carell in Get Smart, French Stewart did Gadget right. He really got into the character of the bumbling inspector and (unlike Matthew Broderick's version, no offence to Matthew) played him as dim-witted as the cartoon character himself. I also thought Caitlin Wachs did a better job of playing Penny.
- DirectorDean DeBloisChris SandersStarsJay BaruchelGerard ButlerChristopher Mintz-PlasseA hapless young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself, and learns there may be more to the creatures than he assumed.Other than Wallace & Gromit, this is the only DreamWorks movie that I really loved. DreamWorks have been doing pop culture joke movies for too long. This was a breath of fresh air for them. The flying sequence were amazing, especially in 3D, and even though the character and story tropes have been done before, they are used differently enough to make you appreciate them better. Plus, Astrid was awesome!
- DirectorPeter SegalStarsSteve CarellAnne HathawayAlan ArkinMaxwell Smart, a highly intellectual but bumbling spy working for the CONTROL agency, is tasked with preventing a terrorist attack from rival spy agency KAOS.This is the TV adaptation I was waiting for. Steve Carell is perfect for the role of Maxwell Smart. He played him as a smart agent who doesn't always think before he leaps and plays it very well. Anne Hathaway was wonderful as Agent 99. Plus, how often do you get to see a TV theme song and intro sequence done right in a movie? This movie did it right, and I loved it.
- DirectorSusan StromanStarsNathan LaneMatthew BroderickUma ThurmanAfter putting together another Broadway flop, down-on-his-luck producer Max Bialystock teams up with timid accountant Leo Bloom in a get-rich-quick scheme to put on the world's worst show.Everyone has a favourite movie musical. I have The Producers. Mel Brooks has always been one of my favourite funny men in the movie business, and this musical is a great example of another of his talents: songwriting. Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick are brilliant together as Max and Leo, and whether you like him or not, Will Ferrell as Franz played the German soldier brilliantly! 'Stand still! How can I shoot you if you keep moving?!?'
- DirectorMel BrooksStarsCary ElwesRichard LewisRoger ReesA spoof of Robin Hood in general, and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991) in particular. The first Mel Brooks film I ever saw, and he's been one of my favourite funny men since. But there's a reason for that. There are some great lines, hilarious characters (especially that of Blinkin), and great songs as well.
- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsSimon PeggNick FrostMartin FreemanAn overachieving London police sergeant is transferred to a village where the easygoing officers object to his fervor for regulations, all while a string of grisly murders strikes the town. This cop parody showcases Simon Pegg and Nick Frost at their brilliant best. What's great is that even though it's a comedy, there are some great action sequences, and the mystery really works well. The supporting cast work great as well.
