- DirectorDavid CronenbergStarsJames WoodsDebbie HarrySonja SmitsA programmer at a Toronto TV station that specializes in adult entertainment searches for the producers of a dangerous and bizarre broadcast. While I think overall concept of the movie was good (the evils of television/the media, how it can take over someone's life, etc.), I thought it was poorly executed. The writing could have been much better. There was also considerable room for improvement in the filming style as well.
- DirectorNick HurranStarsBrittany MurphyRon LivingstonHolly HunterA woman snoops through her boyfriend's palm pilot and reveals his former girlfriends, which causes her to question why they're still listed in his little black book.I mean no disrespect to the late Brittany Murphy, but this movie was so bad I walked out of the theater.
- DirectorHoward DeutchStarsMolly RingwaldJon CryerHarry Dean StantonA poor girl must choose between the affections of dating her childhood sweetheart or a rich but sensitive playboy. It's the classic tale of a desperate girl with no confidence getting tangled up with two popular jerks who, for some reason, are both in love with her. Meanwhile, she constantly steps on her best friend's feet and uses people. I never have been a Molly Ringwald fan and probably never will be.
- DirectorNick MooreStarsEmma RobertsAidan QuinnNatasha RichardsonA rebellious Malibu princess is shipped off to a strict English boarding school by her father.I honestly have no idea what possessed me to watch this movie. I guess it was because it was the only thing on TV late at night, so I decided to try it. I can't stand Emma Roberts as an actress. She comes off as both lifeless and hostile onscreen, and this was no exception.
- DirectorAnne FletcherStarsKatherine HeiglJames MarsdenMalin AkermanAfter serving as a bridesmaid 27 times, a young woman wrestles with the idea of standing by her sister's side as her sibling marries the man she's secretly in love with.Normally, I'm a big James Marsden fan, so I'm just going to pretend he was never associated with this film. This film basically revolves around Katherine Heigl, who is portraying yet another weak woman who feels like she needs a man to survive. What's the twist? She ends up with a DIFFERENT man.
- DirectorJared HessStarsJon HederEfren RamirezJon GriesA listless and alienated teenager decides to help his new friend win the class presidency in their small western high school, while he must deal with his bizarre family life back home. What was this movie even about?
- DirectorBaz LuhrmannStarsLeonardo DiCaprioClaire DanesJohn LeguizamoShakespeare's famous play is updated to the hip modern suburb of Verona still retaining its original dialogue. Why anyone would take Shakespeare's beautiful classic and try to "modernize" it just baffles me. If you want a REAL Romeo and Juliet, watch the 1960s version.
- DirectorPaul FeigStarsKristen WiigMaya RudolphRose ByrneCompetition between the maid of honor and a bridesmaid, over who is the bride's best friend, threatens to upend the life of an out-of-work pastry chef. The writing was weak and the characters were weaker. Melissa McCarthy (who was fantastic in this) and Maya Rudolph were the only good things about this movie, but even they couldn't save this train wreck.
- DirectorMark RosmanStarsHilary DuffHeather LocklearAria WallaceA lonely mother begins receiving romantic e-mails from a secret admirer, unaware that this perfect man is really a creation of her daughter who is trying to cheer her up.The title alone makes me want to gag. Desperate women search for a man to make them feel better about their lame lives.
- DirectorWayne WangStarsJennifer LopezRalph FiennesNatasha RichardsonA Senatorial candidate falls for a hotel maid, thinking she is a socialite, when he sees her trying on a wealthy woman's dress.See #9.
- DirectorPhil LordChristopher MillerStarsJonah HillChanning TatumIce CubeA pair of underachieving cops are sent back to a local high school to blend in and bring down a synthetic drug ring.I tend to like slapstick comedy, but this was just over-the-top and stupid.
- DirectorDennis FallonStarsPeter CoyoteJason LondonVivien CardoneWhen Belle, struggling with the loss of her mom, is sent to live with her grandfather, she soon becomes the savior of all living things! An old race horse and Atticus the dog change Belle's life, and in turn the life of those who love her.Summary : Everyone dies. The end.
- DirectorAnne FletcherStarsSandra BullockRyan ReynoldsMary SteenburgenA pushy boss forces her young assistant to marry her in order to keep her visa status in the U.S. and avoid deportation to Canada.I respect Ryan Reynolds as an actor and love Sandra Bullock, but this film lacked life. Betty White was good for some laughs, but overall this film was just boring.
- DirectorMichael BayStarsShia LaBeoufMegan FoxJosh DuhamelSam Witwicky leaves the Autobots behind for a normal life. But when his mind is filled with cryptic symbols, the Decepticons target him and he is dragged back into the Transformers' war.The graphics were good, but other than that, this movie was terrible. It pains me to even have a Transformers movie on the list because I am such a fan and have been since I was a little kid.
- DirectorDito MontielStarsChanning TatumTerrence HowardLuis GuzmánIn New York City, a young counterfeiter is introduced to the world of underground street fighting by a seasoned scam artist, who becomes his manager on the bare-knuckling brawling circuit.Did Channing Tatum look good in this film? Yes.
Was there anything else good in this film? No. - DirectorSam RaimiStarsTobey MaguireKirsten DunstTopher GraceA strange black entity from another world bonds with Peter Parker and causes inner turmoil as he contends with new villains, temptations, and revenge.Spiderman randomly becomes an emo kid who can't think for himself because he's overcome by fabric.
- DirectorMarc ForsterStarsWill FerrellEmma ThompsonDustin HoffmanI.R.S. auditor Harold Crick suddenly finds his mundane Chicago life to be the subject of narration only he can hear: narration that begins to affect his entire existence, from his work to his love life to his death. This movie had a TON of potential, but fell painfully short of my expectations.
- DirectorJonathan LiebesmanStarsAaron EckhartMichelle RodriguezBridget MoynahanA squad of U.S. Marines becomes the last line of defense against a global invasion.Summary : A lot of things blow up and die as aliens attack for some unknown reason.
- DirectorTim StoryStarsIoan GruffuddMichael ChiklisChris EvansA group of astronauts gain superpowers after a cosmic radiation exposure and must use them to oppose the plans of their enemy, Doctor Victor Von Doom.A.K.A. The Fantastic Bore
- DirectorPitofStarsHalle BerrySharon StoneBenjamin BrattA shy woman, endowed with the speed, reflexes, and senses of a cat, walks a thin line between criminal and hero, even as a detective doggedly pursues her, fascinated by both of her personas.Maybe it's because I've always despised Catwoman in general, but this movie was just bad. I love Halle Berry in other movies, though.
- DirectorDwight H. LittleStarsJon FooKelly OvertonCary-Hiroyuki TagawaJin Kazama witnesses the death of his mother Jun by Tekken in the slums known as Anvil. After finding a Tekken ID he decides to seek out vengeance for his mother's death. With all due respect to the martial artists and stuntmen in this film - who were fantastic - I have to wonder if the writers/director have ever even played a Tekken game in their lives. This was a movie that had characters who coincidentally had the same names as Tekken characters, but this was not Tekken.
- DirectorJames BridgesStarsJohn TravoltaDebra WingerScott GlennBud is a young man from the country who learns about life and love in a Houston bar.I never did understand why they got such a city boy to portray Bud, but then again, I guess it can work (Matt Damon was WONDERFUL in All the Pretty Horses). This movie has no purpose whatsoever other than following two mediocre people doing nothing with their lives except getting involved in drama.
- DirectorBrian De PalmaStarsSissy SpacekPiper LaurieAmy IrvingCarrie White, a shy, friendless teenage girl who is sheltered by her domineering, religious mother, unleashes her telekinetic powers after being humiliated by her classmates at her senior prom.It wasn't scary, it was just frustrating. Sissy Spacek was great, but the writing was atrocious.
- DirectorJohn G. AvildsenStarsRalph MacchioPat MoritaRobyn LivelyOstracised villain John Kreese attempts to gain revenge on Daniel and Miyagi, with the help of a Vietnam War comrade, the wealthy owner of a toxic waste disposal business.Having mysteriously lost all progress that Daniel-san and Mr. Miyagi made in the first two films, this third installment's sole purpose is to milk more money from the popular 1980s franchise.
- DirectorM. Night ShyamalanStarsNoah RingerNicola Peltz BeckhamJackson RathboneAang, a young successor to a long line of Avatars, must master all four elements and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water Tribes and the Earth Kingdom. The reason this is #25 on the list is because I almost didn't add it to the list. Before you ask, here's why : I am a HUGE fan of the series. Seriously, I am one of the biggest Avatards you'll ever meet. This film was really nothing like the series, but there were still some good elements. The music by James Newton Howard was lovely, as was the scenery shown in the film. Shyamalan lost a lot of what was important in the series when trying to adapt this to film. He should never have tried to take up the role as the director, and he certainly shouldn't have written the script. Someone should have given Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko free reign, as well as their original creative team. THEY are the ones who made Avatar successful.
