- DirectorDean DeBloisChris SandersStarsJay BaruchelGerard ButlerChristopher Mintz-PlasseA hapless young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself, and learns there may be more to the creatures than he assumed. Not all kid films are humorous and silly. This one is mature and gratifying with one of the greatest bonds since E.T. The relationship between the boy and this amazing crowd pleasing dragon is so strong I've never seen any other friendship stronger then this one. Originally, How to Train Your Dragon was meant to be a stand alone film but because of the Toothless's soaring popularity, a franchise was inevitable. Generally he is the biggest reason why this is such a good film for anybody. Toothless doesn't act stupid, or immature like some other characters, otherwise offers a charming personality that I'd say anybody can tolerate and more.
- DirectorRoger AllersRob MinkoffStarsMatthew BroderickJeremy IronsJames Earl JonesLion prince Simba and his father are targeted by his bitter uncle, who wants to ascend the throne himself.Kids and adults generally like this for the same reason. The music, the characters, the story, and the lesson involved within. A film that will awe inspire children as they age and appreciate this for the more mature meanings of the film. For an adult who may have never seen this and ends up watching it will also find enjoyment and may realize that this isn't just another animated film, it offers something more then fuzzy animals on screen.
Besides, who doesn't like the Lion King? - DirectorDean DeBloisStarsJay BaruchelCate BlanchettGerard ButlerWhen Hiccup and Toothless discover an ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. In my opinion, the best animated sequels ever. Why? It is a coming-of-age story about growing up and maturing while still providing and caring for the ones you love. Also it acknowledges the value of friendship and that you will do anything to save a friend from danger. This film is fit for anyone and everyone. Kids and adults will get a real kick out of Toothless in this one. Watch it, you won't regret it.
- DirectorJohn LasseterStarsTom HanksTim AllenDon RicklesA cowboy doll is profoundly threatened and jealous when a new spaceman action figure supplants him as top toy in a boy's bedroom. For kids its the fact that toys come to life. For adults, it's the story and the meaningful moments throughout. Kids will also like the humor too.
- DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsHenry ThomasDrew BarrymorePeter CoyoteA troubled child summons the courage to help a friendly alien escape from Earth and return to his home planet.I count this as a kid movie. But a very adult, kids movie.
- DirectorJon FavreauStarsNeel SethiBill MurrayBen KingsleyAfter a threat from the tiger Shere Khan forces him to flee the jungle, a man-cub named Mowgli embarks on a journey of self discovery with the help of panther Bagheera and free-spirited bear Baloo. The Jungle Book offers a much more mature approach then the animated film. But still is safe for the entire family. It's scary at times (mainly due to Shere Khan), and it has some intense action. But if your kids saw How to Train Your Dragon 2, then they will be just fine.
All the characters are great Bagheera is breathtaking, Baloo is silly, Shere Khan is awesome and scary like a good villain should be. It's an all-rounded great film. - DirectorAndrew StantonLee UnkrichStarsAlbert BrooksEllen DeGeneresAlexander GouldAfter his son is captured in the Great Barrier Reef and taken to Sydney, a timid clownfish sets out on a journey to bring him home.More of a father-son film for fathers and sons. But mothers can enjoy this too.
- DirectorLee UnkrichStarsTom HanksTim AllenJoan CusackThe toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college, and it's up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren't abandoned and to return home. One of the best animated sequels of all time with non-stop twist and turns that will keep the kids and adults on the edge of their seats.
- DirectorByron HowardRich MooreJared BushStarsGinnifer GoodwinJason BatemanIdris ElbaIn a city of anthropomorphic animals, a rookie bunny cop and a cynical con artist fox must work together to uncover a conspiracy.A very unique interpretation of animals living in a city while still having the same animal qualities and behaviors as if they were in the wild. The film handles many mature lessons about acceptance of one's differences, something I think any child should learn. In this film its prey vs. predator in a way you wouldn't expect. Disney again gives us something kids and adults can enjoy and them some.
- DirectorPete DocterRonnie Del CarmenStarsAmy PoehlerBill HaderLewis BlackAfter young Riley is uprooted from her Midwest life and moved to San Francisco, her emotions - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness - conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house, and school.Emotions run the screen in this family pleasing adventure into the mind a girl going through the normal stages of a child's life including moving to a new area, and being a new student at school. This film brilliantly shows what it looks like inside your head, and makes you think that it does happen. The characters are colorful inside and out, as they each have there own emotion to control. The family will have fun with this one along with learning about the value of family, and friends.
- DirectorBrad BirdStarsEli MarienthalHarry Connick Jr.Jennifer AnistonA young boy befriends a giant robot from outer space that a paranoid government agent wants to destroy.A very emotionally grabbing classic. Kids will enjoy it as much as adults will. These last three films and the ones after have to do with being friends with something you'd never expect. As friendships come from the most unexpected and unusual places. Don't judge others based on their own way of doing things. That's what this film teaches. I recommend this film to anyone.
- DirectorAndrew AdamsonKelly AsburyConrad VernonStarsMike MyersEddie MurphyCameron DiazShrek and Fiona travel to the Kingdom of Far Far Away, where Fiona's parents are King and Queen, to celebrate their marriage. When they arrive, they find they are not as welcome as they thought they would be.This movie is extremely kid friendly while offering jokes and references adults will get a kick out of. You can't go wrong with fairies, princesses, princes, and.....ogres, talking/fighting cats, and annoying talking donkeys?
- DirectorDon BluthStarsPat HingleGabriel DamonHelen ShaverAn orphaned brontosaurus teams up with other young dinosaurs in order to reunite with their families in a valley.Unlike the films following, this theatrical release has a surprising amount of heart and emotion that might make even the toughest man cry. - DirectorJean-Jacques AnnaudStarsGuy PearceFreddie HighmoreJean-Claude DreyfusTwo tigers are separated as cubs and taken into captivity, only to be reunited years later as enemies by an explorer who inadvertently forces them to fight each other. An underestimated film about tigers that try to find a place to call home, after a series of events throughout their lives. Adults will love the story and very important message. And kids will enjoy the tigers, and the important message as well.
