My Favourite TV Series

This show is perfect. It's one of the few shows that manages to be both highly engaging and intelligent throughout. It appeals to fans of mindless blood and gore, fans of intricate writing and direction, and everyone in between. Of course a lot of the credit goes to the source material, but the adaptation has been almost flawless thus far.

Season 4>1>3>2

How someone can make a show that is simultaneously a soap opera, mystery, horror, thriller, drama and comedy without butchering any of those aspects is beyond me. Even ignoring the fact that modern TV wouldn't exist as it does today if Lynch and Frost never created this short-lived series, this show is perfect until about halfway through Season 2. Even so, it continues to be great until the haunting final scene.

Season 1>2

I need to rewatch this. I never cried to a film or TV show until I watched Six Feet Under's finale, and I have never felt so close to a group of characters since or before watching this show. Watching this series was a deep and life-altering experience that everyone reading this should take part in.

Season 5>1>2>3>4

It really upsets me that this show was cancelled. The juxtaposition of good and evil along with Ben Hawkins's and Brother Justin's gradual transition toward each extreme made this show unlike any other. Their respective actors played their parts perfectly and there were a bunch of other memorable characters too, from Samson (my current DP) to Jonesy and Sofie. Now I'm feeling the urge to watch this again too.

Season 2>1

While it's not my favourite show (though it's obviously not far from it), The Wire is in my opinion the greatest. Even through the occasionally unintelligible Baltimore street accents, I often forgot that this was an American drama. I was so used to everything being spelt out for me that The Wire made me view every series differently. After watching it, I had to take a break from watching TV for a while because everything felt bad and over-dramatised in comparison.

Season 4>2>3>1>5

This show made me realise that there are quality TV shows outside of the US and UK. Its characters, production value, acting and themes are all comparable to those of a HBO drama. I also found the plot very intriguing and I'm really looking forward to the upcoming seasons.

It might not have the same production value as some of the other shows on this list, but this is by far the funniest piece of visual media I've ever had the pleasure of watching. I couldn't put it any lower on the list than this.

I don't watch many scripted comedy shows, but this is by far the funniest of the ones I've seen. The hilarious characters and the situations they put themselves in are what make this show great.

Admittedly, some of the writing in this show is pretty average. I still enjoy watching it though, and the quality has definitely gone up again in Seasons 4 and 5 after the soap opera snorefest that was Season 2.

I really like the premise of this show along with the visual and auditory direction. Some parts feel a little bit corny and contrived, but I enjoyed watching it anyway. I look forward to HBO's remake.

Great show with great characters but some inconsistent and occasionally sloppy writing. Having said that, it's really fun to watch if you're not the type of person who is always subconsciously looking for flaws.

I feel like I appreciated this show more than I enjoyed it. Shame it was cancelled.

Great show, but I feel like the fact that it was cancelled makes people view it differently to how it would be viewed otherwise. It's probably a little overrated as a result.
