Stars: Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Donald Glover, Chevy Chase

Votes: 293,062

If you are going to look at one item on this list then please let this be it. This is the funniest TV show I have ever seen, honestly. I don't think I've ever laughed so much, and every episode seems to get better. You probably think I'm exaggerating...I'm really not. I am completely obsessed with this show and, frankly, its hard not to be when even the worst episode is better than the best episode of any other sitcom on TV... #sixseasonsandamovie

2. Teen Wolf (2011–2017)

Votes: 163,033

This show is addictive and compelling. Despite what you may think Teen Wolf is quite brilliant and very clever, with its dark tone and oft-times witty dialogue showcasing its intelligence and durability. Its one of those that will suck you in and not let go and though it may not appeal to older audience members I kid-you-not when I say that this show is deserving of the title "great".

TV-MA | 28 min | Comedy, Drama

A comedy about the experiences of a group of girls in their early 20s.

Stars: Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Adam Driver

Votes: 77,765

I'd heard about this alot before I decided to give it a try for myself, and obviously when a programme is hyped up as much as this one had been, your going to go in with some preconcieved notions. You expect to be either completely disappointed or completely blown-away-impressed. With this show it was the latter. If you have reservations for the same reasons I did, then just ignore them and watch this. Its real, and its brilliant. Lena Dunham is a revelation, and she knows it. This programme escapes all, or most, anyway, of the TV-cliches. Those it doesn't are because the cliche is real, and that seems to be Dunhams goal - depicting reality for a disillusioned and totally economically screwed generation. When I was trying to think of a comparison, the only thing that came to mind is Sex and the City. This might put some people off, but it shouldn't. Yeah, there is sex. Its real. Yeah, there are stereotypes. Thats real too. As you can tell, this programme is just REAL.

10. True Blood (2008–2014)

Votes: 259,883

11. The Mentalist (2008–2015)

TV-14 | 43 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery

A famous "psychic" outs himself as a fake, and starts working as a consultant for the California Bureau of Investigation so he can find "Red John", the madman who killed his wife and daughter.

Stars: Simon Baker, Robin Tunney, Tim Kang, Owain Yeoman

Votes: 200,269

This show is incredibly addictive, largely in part to the fantastic lead actor Simon Baker. The show itself is very interesting and even though each episode usually deals with a new homicidal case, the show ultimately centers around Red John - the elusive serial killer who murdered Patrick Jane's (Simon Baker) family. This stops the show from becoming stale and makes it different from other crime TV shows because it has an emotional center. I've blabbed on a bit, basically...please watch.

12. New Girl (2011–2018)

TV-14 | 22 min | Comedy, Romance

After a bad break-up, Jess, an offbeat young woman, moves into an apartment loft with three single men. Although they find her behavior very unusual, the men support her - most of the time.

Stars: Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Hannah Simone

Votes: 245,221

I don't think it would be possible for a person to not have heard of this show, so I'll just let its general popularity speak for itself.

13. Once Upon a Time (2011–2018)

TV-PG | 60 min | Adventure, Fantasy, Romance

A young woman with a troubled past is drawn to a small town in Maine where fairy tales are to be believed.

Stars: Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Robert Carlyle

Votes: 236,865

14. Awkward. (2011–2016)

TV-14 | 22 min | Comedy, Drama, Romance

Stars: Ashley Rickards, Beau Mirchoff, Jillian Rose Reed, Brett Davern

Votes: 45,801

I'm not sure how popular or well-known this show is, but don't let the high school setting fool you. This show is hilarious and yes, kinda awkward. But that's kinda the point...

15. Misfits (2009–2013)

TV-MA | 60 min | Comedy, Drama, Fantasy

A group of young offenders doing community service gets struck by lightning during a storm and start to develop superpowers.

Stars: Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Joe Gilgun, Iwan Rheon, Lauren Socha

Votes: 107,210

This is a masterpiece. I mean don't go expecting some Spielberg-esque creation, but this show is just so cool and hilarious. I expected it to be a bit 'chavvy', but it really isn't. Just watch it!

16. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990–1996)

TV-PG | 22 min | Comedy

A streetwise, poor young man from Philadelphia is sent by his mother to live with his aunt, uncle and cousins in their Bel-Air mansion.

Stars: Will Smith, James Avery, Alfonso Ribeiro, Tatyana Ali

Votes: 144,516

Well come on, you can't have a 'Great TV Shows' list without having this on can you! Pure 90s classic - it will never die.

17. Gilmore Girls (2000–2007)

A dramedy centering around the relationship between a thirtysomething single mother and her teen daughter living in Stars Hollow, Connecticut.

So this show is kinda very different to everything I have listed thus far, but really...this show is just brilliant. Honestly one of my favourites.

18. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003)

A young woman, destined to slay vampires, demons and other infernal creatures, deals with her life fighting evil, with the help of her friends.

Stars: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, Anthony Head

Votes: 159,523

Another 90s staple - what can I say? I'm 90s born and bred, this show was literally apart of my childhood.

19. Freaks and Geeks (1999–2000)

TV-14 | 45 min | Comedy, Drama

A high school mathlete starts hanging out with a group of burnouts while her younger brother navigates his freshman year.

Stars: Linda Cardellini, John Francis Daley, James Franco, Samm Levine

Votes: 153,097

It beats me why they would ever cancel this show. The cast is just stellar (I mean almost every single one of them is huge right now, that speaks for itself right?) and the characters themselves are hilarious. The title pretty much speaks for itself - and is just another great aspect of a lost TV gem.

20. Pushing Daisies (2007–2009)

TV-PG | 44 min | Comedy, Drama, Fantasy

A pastry chef with the power to bring dead people back to life solves murder mysteries with his resurrected childhood sweetheart, a cynical private investigator, and a lovesick waitress.

Stars: Lee Pace, Anna Friel, Chi McBride, Jim Dale

Votes: 59,517

I cannot stress enough the irritation I feel at great TV shows getting cancelled. Here's another victim. A real shame because this show was just quirky and really enjoyable!

21. The Newsroom (2012–2014)

TV-MA | 60 min | Drama

A newsroom undergoes some changes in its workings and morals as a new team is brought in, bringing unexpected results for its existing news anchor.

Stars: Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, John Gallagher Jr., Alison Pill

Votes: 124,504

A refreshing show that looks at the state of America and its people from the perspective of a busy and hilariously hectic Newsroom. The characters are refreshingly believeable and interesting and I particularly enjoy the sparring matches between characters which each episode brings anew. This is clever, and you don't see much of the clever/funny combo on TV these days...

22. Pretty Little Liars (2010–2017)

TV-14 | 44 min | Drama, Mystery, Romance

Four friends band together against an anonymous foe who threatens to reveal their darkest secrets, while also investigating the disappearance of their best friend.

Stars: Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell

Votes: 178,182

Okay, so I know this is quite far removed from the other shows I have listed but I have to admit to being kind of hooked by this show, despite all of the teenage cliches and romantic clinches the main characters find themselves in. If you look past all of that though you've got a show with a mystery thats actually seriously hard to make sense of. The creators know how to send the audience off on a wild goose chase, and its very entertaining. Call it a guilty pleasure if you want, but you never know, you might give it a chance and see why I've enjoyed it thus far...
