- DirectorAlistair HopeStarsAndrea DeckGeorge AntonKezia BurrowsIn this first person survival horror adventure set fifteen years after the events of Alien (1979), Ripley's daughter becomes trapped on an alien-infested space station which holds answers to the mystery of her mother's disappearance.Since we got here, the ship has actually improved in condition, minus some fire damage.
This game marks the first time a company got alien right since 1986. This is the game I wanted back before colonial marines came out, something based on the first film, because it was sickening playing as a colonial marine for 6 different games in a row.
The plot/game-play: Amanda Ripley wants a flight recorder, that is it. The human characters are uninspired, they are killed off as quickly as they appear, and you couldn't care less. The homicidal working Joes are far more interesting beings. The survivors aboard the ship serve little to no purpose, and add little substance to the overall story.
The style of game-play is a breath of fresh air, stealth, survival, and tactics. While they are implemented well enough, it still suffers the genres age old flaw, questionable Ai. It really takes away from the experience when you go up against humans with a flare and win, especially once they start questioning the flare on who's there. The alien Ai also has some problems, I like how it sort of has a mind of it's own when it is tracking you, but that doesn't stop it from being predictable. When you first go up against the alien, it is heart racing and intense, that is until you figure out how to avoid it. I found myself crouch walking through levels without the alien even showing up. Even just quickly analyzing your area, you can tell where the alien can and can't go. That is unless the game decides to spawn the alien right on top of you, or have the alien jump up into the vents, then jump down again, then jump right back up the same vent. Or literally have the alien spawn behind you in a vent, physically push you out, and then kill, all while you're wondering what just happened. This game relies heavily on beginners traps, you have to pay extra attention to what's in front of you to attempt to avoid them. On the final missions they really start to throw them at you. The quest objectives them selves consist of flipping switches, pulling levers, turning stuff on and off, and powering stuff up, yeah sounds gripping.
I advise not using your firearms until near the end of the game, most of the game you can get by just using stealth, maintenance jack, Emps and stun rods. And I recommend you don't even bother using the revolver at all, it is completely worthless. Conserve your flamer fuel by using Molotov's instead. And lastly, the greatest weapon, the motion tracker, never not use it.
Graphics/sound: Surprisingly grade A sound and graphic design, this game replicates alien in tone and atmosphere. But the human characters models look like complete garbage, and really stand out compared to the rest of the beautifully rendered game.
Longevity: I completed the game in around 13 hours, but I had the gift of foresight so that trimmed the time down. The DLC so far has been nothing lasting, you play it once and you're done. The survivor challenges aren't even worth doing since it doesn't add to the experience. I'm a bit sad right now because I want to keep playing this game, but they didn't implement any content to keep you playing. I hate to be saying this but, even a player vs. player multi-player mode featuring the working Joes or alien would have been welcome. But I'm sure there will be more single player DLC, and I look forward to it. - DirectorHideo KojimaStarsDavid HayterSuzetta MiñetJim PiddockIn 1964, a U.S. government operative codenamed "Snake" must infiltrate mountainous Soviet territory to rescue a scientist building a weapon of terrible power.
- StarsShawn FontenoNed LukeSteven OggThree very different criminals team up for a series of heists and walk into some of the most thrilling experiences in the corrupt city of Los Santos.I've been playing GTA for a long time now, they all featured the same format and play style, point a to point b. None of the games raised the bar as high as this game. The biggest improvement is the story, I felt previous games were more enjoyable when you're a blood lust madman, but this games story was addicting unlike any other. I love great stories, and this one is one of the finest of the generation. I'll talk a little about the mechanics, but mostly about the story and characters. The main story will take you around 24 hours to complete, pretty standard. I did it over the weekend, three days of noon till midnight.
The game play: It's pretty much GTA 4 style controls aside from a few innovations. You can actually customize weapons in this game, considering games like "Scarface the world is yours" had this way back when, it's too little too late, but appreciated. The stats boasts for characters is back. The graphics are almost identical to Red Dead Redemption, aside from the facial animations, here they can pull off more realistic expressions. The feature to switch between characters at almost any point is a great new mechanic. Got nothing to do, lets go see what Trevor is up to, oh he's throwing someone off the side of an overpass, cool. I haven't noticed any new cars yet, in fact they took away my favorite car, the black Sabre GT. And finally an open world game that allows property purchase, if you can make the money the business is yours. But 150 million for a golf course is a ridiculous amount to earn. The map is about the same, if not bigger than Red Dead. You spend most of your time just driving though. The game does look beautiful at times, especially when you factor in night time or when it's lightly raining. The game physics are nothing new, but it does frustrate me to unbelievable levels when the cars spin out from hitting a pebble. The animations for Chop, are probably the best for any dog in a video game. The presentation is double that of previous entry's. I'll add some more here when it comes to mind.
The missions: Wow, they really improved the missions ten fold. There some big set piece moments that are great, without distracting you from the game. I can only remember one mission from GTA 4, the bank heist. But here there were at least a dozen. The heist at the bay town, was crazy. Securing a prisoner from atop the FIB headquarters, while switching characters, was a brief but memorable moment. Sometimes it's just the dialogue or actions from the characters can make a mission. My favorite was Family reunion with Michael and his family. But there were a few times it got disturbing. When Trevor is sneaking around The Lost's trailer park killing them, and the whole thunderstorm going on at the time, it's just great. The torture sequence of the prisoner was a bit out of place though.
The characters: I'm just going with the three main protagonists. I liked all three of them, even when Trevor is being a psychopath, it's hard not to like him. Franklin was the most stable out of all of them. Michael seams to have been based off of Michael Madsen, even down to the way he walks. Trevor is the most memorable, one of the best characters in the franchise, even probably best character of the year. He's a madman in ever way shape and form. The banter between M and T is all over the place, one second it's a nice moment, and the next they are at each others throats. The writing is really well done most of the time, but there was a few moments that didn't sit right. I was appalled there was even an option to kill Trevor and Michael.
Now I have only played through the single player missions, so that's all I can say for the game. I haven't done any of the side missions, leisure activities, or even watched TV. That will be added in here once I have completed those. Is it game of the year, well it's a close second to The Last Of Us, both of these had phenomenal stories and characters, but TLOU played my emotions much harder. Anyone that gives this anything lower than a 9 is just kidding themselves, Rock-star put years of hard work into this game, every aspect is top notch, aside from two glitches that required a mission start over. It is by far the best GTA game ever, it raised the bar, and set a new precedent of quality. - DirectorJake RowellSylvain DoreauStarsBrandon RouthBrian BloomJeffrey PierceTen years after a terrible attack that wipes out part of the population, two brothers must rebel against a federation controlled by a psychotic soldier who once was part of the rebellion called "The Ghosts".
- DirectorNeil DruckmannBruce StraleyStarsTroy BakerAshley JohnsonHana HayesIn a hostile, post-pandemic world, Joel and Ellie, brought together by desperate circumstances, must rely on each other to survive a brutal journey across what remains of the United States.****SPOILERS**** The reason I say that is, it feels so real. And it gets real emotions out of you. The game is slow and drawn out, but that only makes it even more intense. I'll get the flaws out of the way first: The A.I. isn't very intelligent, the humans are damn near blind. And the fact that your NPC companions can walk right into an enemy and not alert it sort of kills the immersion for a bit. The challenge almost seems to go away for multiple play-throughs, you can pretty much cheese your way through the game since you know what to do. And aside from the game-play, this game is a masterpiece. The third person doesn't feel the greatest, it's not as fluent as something like Resident evil 5. After two straight years of disappointing video games, this finally gives me more hope.
The story: Man, I don't even know where to start. This is THE most nerve racking game I ever played. It really gets you to invest emotionally into this game. I really wanted Joel and Ellie to make it through the game, the tension of either one of them being killed at any second was unbearable. I didn't even want to finish going through the play-through because of this. I had to go read the plot online just so I could be at ease, and finish it. No other game I have ever played has made me feel this way about it's characters. Joel is the baddest mother f----er since Kratos, when pushed, nothing stands in his way. He is a cold blooded killer, but the only thing that makes him feel normal is Ellie. The dialogue and voice acting is flawless, it feels as natural as acting can get. This really is a game you do not get to have mindless fun, it's all about the story and characters, and how it all works out in the end. The father figure and daughter dynamic really is refreshing. I got teary eyed when Ellie laid down by a sick and injured Joel.
I don't think I could write a review about this game with out talking about the ending. SO NOW I AM GOING INTO THE SPOILERS.
THE ENDING- This is a game that gets better, the further you advance. It just keeps building the tension until the final part in the hospital where I couldn't take it anymore. I think Joel made the right decision saving Ellie at the end. It's not just that he found someone to live for again, but the fact that Ellie could live her life. When she first left the Boston quarantine zone, and was in awe about things in the world, it felt like a father teaching a child about the world. It's something both Joel and Ellie needed. And besides, it's been 20 years since the world fell apart. There was no saving humanity, there's no coming back from that. Humans are much more dangerous that the infected ever were. You see this throughout the game. There was no guarantee that the vaccine would work, and if it did, it wouldn't have been used as a weapon. The Fireflies were labelled as terrorists for a reason. Ellies life was much more valuable then what was left of humanity, in Joel's eyes. You have to play the game in order to get the full effect.
I'd go as far to so, this is one of the best story driven games to ever be released. The game is incredibly detailed, even the little touches of dialogue between Joel and Ellie hidden throughout un-triggered events, marks it high on the list of presentation. I hope for more last of us in the future, since it's already sold more than two million copies, it's a sure thing. 10/10 - DirectorHideo KojimaStarsDavid HayterPatric ZimmermanPeter LurieA crack government anti-terrorist squad takes over an obscure Alaskan nuclear disposal facility. However, upon arrival he discovers that the city, its people, and his objective are all not what they seem. It's 6:00am, I stayed up all night in order to get through the game, and it was probably a bad idea. This is what people praise as Game of the year, I will compare it to TLOU in a minute, but first things first.
The game-play is the best in the franchise. The ruins of Columbia look nice. The game kept my interest through most of the game. Oh and the pointless rapture scene was just so cute, even though it was completely out of the blue. But really, the ending is just awe full. Really, I felt depressed after it was over. Was you think about it real hard, you'll understand how poorly it was executed. The whole world jump and time travel was just the most " WTF is this " type of plot device. They may have had a cool idea going on, but it just doesn't work or pay off in the end. Don't get me wrong, most of the game is good, but it's not Game of the year good. Sure it will be nominated, and people on the hype train will do what they do best. At the end of the day, I just want to forget this game, and I probably will. It didn't have any emotion or weight to it, it's just a cool FPS. It just an over done, over complicated let down. As far as a solid and compelling story goes, The last of us destroys this game. Seriously that twist was just so out there.
It's an over rated game, but it is a good over rated game. It never reached Bioshock 1 levels of good though. I'll probably update this at a latter time, when I'm not tired. - DirectorJohan PerssonStarsMalcolm SherwoodPatti TauscherMarc FarlyIn Battlefield 1942, players are dropped into the middle of a World War II battlefield and forced to find a path to victory both for them and for the soldiers on their side.

The atmosphere this time around surpasses the original, it truly does immerse you in this world. I bought this game three times, one for the Xbox and twice for the PS3, one of which was the special edition. Alright time to get started.
The Game: The first thing I noticed right out of the gate is the graphics are much more clear and better done. The story was pretty weak, but the rest of the game more than makes up for it. The game play is much better this time around, it's much more fluent. You can equip a weapon and a plasmid at the same time. I didn't notice a big difference in quality between systems, they are about even. My favourite gun in the game is the shotgun, you can upgrade it with cylinders for rapid firing. The spear gun is also pretty cool, it almost feels like a rifle. The sound track is no where near as good as the one in the first game, which was very disappointing. As i've mentioned the atmosphere surpasses the original, there is one part where you enter a secret facility, it feels so barren, like no one has entered it for a while, it is truly a great feeling moment. The hard difficulty mode was actually pretty easy compared to the first game's hard mode. Finding all of the audio diaries was much easier this time around, I even completed that objective twice. The big sisters are more of a nuisance, but I found a way to help the little sisters without having to fight the big sisters. It's weird to be carrying around a little sister thats looks up to the big daddy, it makes you choose not to harvest them. The level's are expertly designed with plenty of hidden areas to discover. Overall the single player is a great experience.
The multi-player: I don't have much to say other than I didn't like it, I felt they could have left it out and put more stuff into the single player. Overall it's forgettable.
Minerva's Den: If you liked the main single player then I recommend getting this, it's a good addition. Just don't expect a good end boss, you can beat him pretty quickly.
The verdict: The game is fun and well worth your time and money, the single player has great replay value, but skip the online mode. - DirectorMathijs de JongeJim SonzeroStarsBrian CoxRay WinstoneMalcolm McDowellFollowing the events after Killzone 2 (2009), Visari, the leader of the Helghast is dead, but the war is far from over. The game play is pretty much the same, but this time it feels much more fluent. The characters each have their own personality, but I really got annoyed with Scooter and Claptrap this time around. Not to mention you never get a break from Handsome Jack, his character is meant to be annoying, but I don't know if they meant it for some of the other characters. I like that they changed the designs of the guns, much more variety than the first game. It was cool to see the first group of vault hunters again. The music is also really good, I especially love the song "Ice", every time I hear it I start getting pumped up. The graphics are better, they look much more clear, but it also has some load in times and the frame rate tends to drop at some points in the game. There is some glitches as well, some of them even screwed up a mission, I had to restart the game. The levelling up system is extremely fun and feels really rewarding. So far this is the only game I got this year and I'm glad I did get it. I did find the second play through mode made things much, much harder, it actually got me angry but the game is too good for me to be put off.
August 20, 2013. Update It's been a long time coming that I wanted to update this review. I've been playing the hell out of this game the last week. Leveling up the Mechromancer I just purchased. The true vault hunter mode just frustrated me with the one shot and I'm done garbage. The Assassin obviously wasn't the best character to try and get to level 50, well I made it to level 42. Any way, the Mechromancer just makes the game much more enjoyable, the deathtrap destroys everything, she is a much better class. That and I've found much better loot this time around. I realized the only difficulty this game offers is enemies that one shot you, it's just plain annoying. 2012 was a pretty crappy year for video games, so this easily takes game of the year for me. There's six characters to play as, so that's 6 play-throughs worth of replay value. I haven't even touched the DLC yet. So this game is on terms with Fallout, for bang for your buck.

This review will contain my thoughts, experiences, memories, and moments of the game. This game kept me going through my depression. Let's get this started.
I remember the day I bought this game, I put it in and played it for an hour, with my consensus being it sucked. But I found my self transported into this world, I couldn't stop playing it, within four days I had already played it for 44 hours. I was terrible at it, I didn't understand how everything worked, but in time I mastered it several times over. On my ps3 I completed it four times, three of those runs were 140 hours plus, the last one was just to get the trophies. On my Xbox 360 I have a 320 hour play through, pretty much a 100 percent completion, including all the DLC. The 320 hour play through took place over a summer break (yes thats all I did), it was the best summer of my life, just thinking about it makes me smile and feel nostalgic.
The game: I used to be a master for knowledge on this game, I was up to date on everything. I haven't played it in about three years and I unfortunately have lost my great knowledge of this game. It's a RPG, and thats exactly what I did, I would spend countless hours in my homes, and bunkers, hell I even had two vacation homes. I would just sit in my house and listen to Three Dog on the radio, with Dogmeat( an actual dog), my robotic butler, and Sergent RL3( a mister gusty bot). There is over a 150 locations for you to discover, each of them offering a new experience. Roaming through a super-mutant infested D.C. has never been so fun. And on top of that there is a whole another world under the city in the metro system. But of course the city only takes up 35 percent of the map, so you have an entire wasteland to explore. Once you get a hang of this game it becomes incredibly easy, I found myself stock piled with a thousand Stim-packs, and tens of thousands of rounds of ammo. I collected most of the unique guns, and have found all of the Fat-man launchers scattered about. In time you will have collected all of the bobble heads, just don't miss the medical one on James desk. The sound track is one of the best I have ever heard in a video game, it makes you feel at home out in the waste land.
The glitches: Here is some problems I came across. 1. You can survive jumping off of Tenpenny tower. 2. I once swam through the air in a sewer. 3. The game sky will turn into an LSD mind-trip. 4. I got outside of the map and literally walked through an invisible city. 5. I got into the blocked off Jefferson memorial and took Autmums uniform and gun. There are many more to experience.
The verdict: I wish this would have allowed me to give a full review of all the DLC, but the word limit wouldn't allow for it. To sum it up, The Pitt and Point Lookout are the best ones. This is and forever will be my favourite game of all time, it is an experience like no other. This game deserves to have the title " Best game of all time". It gave me memories I will never forget, and it helped me through a tough time in my life, I recommend it to anyone who will dedicate a large chunk of time to it. The Xbox 360 version worked the best for me, so I say get the game of the year edition.

I could write paragraphs and paragraphs about the fallout games, but a thousands words will do for now. Fallout 3 is the best game I have ever played, meaning I had some serious hype for this. It was not better than Fallout 3, even though it improved a lot of things, it was still an amazing experience. Spoiler free, even though there are no spoilers to be had in this game, so don't think anything I say is one.
The Game: I came into this game acting like the grand master, my knowledge served me well, but the game mechanics have been changed. At first it was incredibly hard, to the point where I didn't feel like playing anymore, but there was no chance of that. In the end you can become even more powerful than you could imagine, the weapons and their mods could change any battle, those statistic enhancement implants were great to. I have pretty much completed this game, I'm level 50, I got the platinum trophy, and have done so much that my PS3 can't even run this game properly anymore. Why is it that the PS3 version of these games always suck, I had to develop a tactic to keep this game running properly, for the sake of the word limit, I can't explain how. My total play time came up to around a 150 hours, nothing compared to the some 750 hours I spent on Fallout 3. The waste land is now even more hostile, those annoying Cazadors will beat your ass. Now they have death-claws that are as big as a two story house, that can be solved if you know the right tactics. I did like the option of choosing which side I could fight with, I liked the wild card one the best, like the game says "no gods and no masters", just the courier and an independent New Vegas. I didn't care for the NCR or Cesar's legion, I suggest going in alone or with Mr. House, those are the only worth while endings, mainly you could destroy both sides commanding officers, if you already didn't kill Cesar when you preform brain surgery on him. Remember what Vegas looked like in the trailer, well it's actually nothing like that, it was a major let down. The amount of side quests have been doubled, so you rarely will have nothing to do. I really enjoyed the parts with the Enclave and Brotherhood of steel, it's really cool to get the Enclave Tesla armour. The guns are much better done this time, you get more variety and they all feel great to use. I suggest getting the regular sniper rifle, once you completely upgrade it you can solve any problem you encounter, and do so silenced and stealthily. I was a little disappointed that you can't buy property, but I ended up seizing control of Mr.Houses casino tower, now I have property where all of my companions can live with me, note it never feels crowded. There are plenty of locations to discover, each has some weight or value. You can even find yourself having 3000 plus Stim-packs and 100s of thousands of dollars. Make sure you get the perk that allows for strange events to occur so you get get rare loot or even a diamond encrusted Pip-boy. Note the hardcore mode isn't very challenging once you know what you are doing, I completed the game in 8 or so hours on hardcore mode, so don't be discouraged by it. I could go on for longer, but I still have to talk about the DLC, so thats all I can share about the standard game.
DLC: Considering how great Fallout 3's DLC was, I had high hopes for this game. The first one, Dead Money was actually pretty challenging, and only recommended to people who are looking for a challenge. Overall it wasn't very good. Honest Hearts was more of what you would expect, open world. It was alright. Old World Blues, this is the one you defiantly have to get, it offers the most content and is very well done, highly recommended. I bought the lonesome road, but as i've said the game won't work anymore, it must have not been made to allow you to complete everything. The gun runners pack is also a good buy if you want some new guns, buy it early so that you can make use of it.
I wish I could have talked about this more, but it is what it is. It's a great game, recommended to those who have the time and patience. So I can thoroughly speak for each version. Hands down the best version is the PC, but this was back when I was a PC gamer, and was used to the mouse and keyboard. The Xbox and ps3 versions are pretty similar, but the ps3 doesn't come with trophies. I do prefer controllers over keyboards just because it allows for easy use of the buttons. If I had to compare it to another game, it would be similar to Brothers in arms, minus the weapons sway. To this day, I still consider this game to be one of the best first person shooters of this generation.
I do enjoy using the squad commands, it adds more strategy to the game. I love the selection of weapons at your disposal, it has some of my favourite weapons. I've played through the entire single player twice, it doesn't have much replay value there. The terrorist hunt missions are my favourite, I played it more than the story mode. It simple, customize your load out and difficulty, pick a map, and eliminate all enemies. These can be a lot of fun, but do offer quite a bit of challenge. One wrong move, and it's back to the start. I only played a little bit of the multiplayer, it's pretty standard, but requires more of a strategy and team work. The graphics looked good way back when, but don't hold up as well.

I have some pretty big issues with this game, mainly with the fact that it feels like we got only half of a game. The racing multi-player was just a dumb idea, I didn't even bother touching it. The co-op was not fun at all. The multi-player could have been something like the last of us multi-player, since both games revolve around scavenging and crafting supplies. Seriously, this whole game seems to be designed around racing cars around, almost like the FPS elements were an afterthought. I would have preferred more explorable areas and missions. When you break it down, the map is incredibly small. There is no reward for exploring, mainly for the lack of anything to explore. The graphics really aren't that great compared to other 2011 games.
Gameplay: I played through the story twice, first on normal, and finished on Nightmare the second time. After those back to back playthroughs, I haven't touched it since. The first play-through offered a challenge, but it's all smoke and mirrors. The game is incredibly easy, the first play-through took me 12 hours to complete. My nightmare play-through took around 8, if my memory serves me correct. Seriously, I don't think I died once on Nightmare difficulty. The game is a joke if you can master it after one just one play-through. Compare it to Fallout 3, something I played through 4 times, and accumulated 750 hours of play time, just to master it to the point where you know every single detail about the game.

The game play was a little sluggish, but then again it was the first game in the series. I'm going to state some of the experiences you will have in this game, as well as my opinions.
The Game: I own this game for the PS3, Xbox 360, and the PC. The PC version was the weakest experience, the controls in this game are much more suited to a console. The game play is in it's early stages, but it is playable, just not as refined as the later games. The graphics are great and enhance the atmosphere. The main weapon of choice is the plasma cutter, it really is the only gun you need, except the flamethrower which I use to kill the brutes. You want a tip, shoot the brute in the face with the plasma cutter, it will shield itself in a ball so you go up behind it and barbecue it with the flamethrower. It's the most effective way I have killing the brutes, I don't think i've ever heard anyone mention that tactic. The atmosphere is dark and disturbing, it is accompanied by the creaking of the ship and the odd noise in the background. You always have to stay on constant alert, you aren't safe any where. This game is very terrifying, it will make you want to quit, but I was so in to it I couldn't stop playing it, I had to see what was going to happen next. To sum it up, if you want a heart-attack play this game, some parts of the game had me screaming in excitement and terror. Movies mostly rely on jump scares, same with some games, those are cheap attempts at being scary, but here you will be scared throughout the duration. This game also features an immense amount of disturbing moments, some are gruesome and others more subtle. Here is one example, the beginning of chapter ten starts off with you entering this lobby area with only the glow of candles to light the room, there are many dead bodies with their faces wrapped up, there is also a lullaby playing in the back ground. If you just stop and take it in for a second it quite a gruesome scene. The Necromorphs are very grotesque, the screeches they make are chilling enough, especially when you hear that they are in the same area as you and you have to find them quick. This game is incredibly graphic, some of the ways the Necromorphs kill you are disgusting, one of them literally knocks your head off and attach's itself in your neck stump and takes control of your body. This game is not for the faint of heart.
This game is the pure essence of horror, it is terrifying, thrilling, and shocking, it is better than most horror movies, and is easily the scariest horror game ever made. Highly recommended if you can handle the gruelling moments this game has to offer. - DirectorMathijs de JongeStarsCorey JohnsonLucy Newman-WilliamsAngus WrightWar between the Helghast and the ISA has escalated, and the ISA has decided to use Mercenaries as a last resort, to finish the war.
