This beautiful Broadway singer and actress appeared in only one film, portraying the forever-young ice goddess ("she who must be obeyed"), the title character in RKO's 1935 adaptation of H. Rider Haggard's tale, She (1935), opposite Randolph Scott. In the latter 1940s, having entered politics, she would serve two terms in the lower house of the U.S. Congress as a Representative from the state of California. (Her bid in 1950 for a seat in the upper house, the United States Senate, saw defeat at the hands of one Richard Nixon).- Born and raised in northern California, Josie Maran aspired to become a model at a young age. Her father is of Russian Jewish descent, and her mother has Dutch, French, and German ancestry. At the age of 12, while attending a barbecue, a woman asked her to be in a San Francisco fashion show. A modeling agent at the show saw her and encouraged her to begin modeling. This was the foundation that led toward her professional career.
Demand for her has been steady over the years. After an appearance in a Backstreet Boys music video, the growing attention focused on her skyrocketed. Some of her earlier works included American Eagle Outfitters, Allen Allen and Mango. Glamour Magazine gave Josie her first magazine cover and she later graced future covers. She has an impressive resume which includes work for Marie Claire, Guess, and Victoria's Secret. A very popular ongoing gig for her is the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue which has featured her for three years in a row. Her most prestigious professional contract to date is with Maybelline International as their spokesmodel, where she has appeared in numerous ads and commercials. All of them have in common was the fact of sharing scenes with great talents and they carried the films overshadowing the leading and more famous thespians. Hunter's role in The Tree of Life (2011) brought him recognition around the world while playing the tormented Young Jack, the young version of Sean Penn's character in the epic film.
The newcomer was almost the film lead, with moments and sequences that were unforgettable due to his strong, melancholic and multifaceted expressions. A true natural actor, he was discovered in a Texas school and beat more than 10000 candidates. Initially, he was cast in a minor role but during tests with Jessica Chastain and Brad Pitt the chemistry was fully visible and he landed the complex role that would mark his career. He received praise from audiences, some award nominations as breakthrough actor and won the Online Film & Television Association as Best Youth Performer.
Years have passed and still no sight of him on the screen since he's still in school years but he's sure that he wants to pursue an acting career and develop his great potential. - Tania Mallet was born in Blackpool, England. Her English-born mother, Olga Mironoff, was of Russian descent, and had been a beautiful chorus girl. Her father was a successful English car salesman, Henry Mallet. Her parents divorced and Olga remarried, to George Dawson, with whom she had three sons. George turned out to be a non-violent con man who was sent to prison for three years for committing fraud. Her older brother is actress Helen Mirren's father, making Mallet and Mirren first cousins. They grew up together. Helen wrote in her 2007 autobiography that her cousin "survived this extraordinary upbringing and came out miraculously a loyal and generous person." Tania took a course at the Lucy Clayton School of Modelling and started working as a model at just 16 years old.
In 1961, she appeared as herself in the documentary about models in Michael Winner's Girls Girls Girls! (1961). In 1963 she was considered for the role of the lead James Bond girl in From Russia with Love (1963). Although half-Russian, her provincial English accent deemed her unsuitable for the role of the Russian love interest, so she lost the role to Daniela Bianchi. However, the following year she was cast in the next Bond film, Goldfinger (1964) , playing the ill-fated Tilly Masterson. She agreed to appear in "Goldfinger" as an experiment. She was earning £2,000 a week as a model, and after much bargaining managed to secure only £150 a week as her fee for the film. She claimed that she could not afford to continue working as an actress, because she was earning more as a model. She was supporting her mother and putting her half-brothers thru school with her income as a model.
Tania had mixed feelings about her time on "Goldfinger". Filming was fun, but in her personal life her long-time boyfriend had died at the same time. She had no desire to pursue a career as an actress and went back to modeling. Her first marriage ended when she was still young. In 1976, she married her second husband, Simon Radcliffe, a management consultant. She became a stepmother to his children, including publicist Louisa Radcliffe. It was a marriage that lasted 40 years, when her husband died in 2016, leaving her a widow. She enjoyed a warm relationship with Mirren since childhood, as evidenced by the photos of the two smiling cousins in the latter's autobiography. Mallet continued to attend James Bond events and autographed her photographs at these events.
She died on March 30, 2019 at the age of 77 from undisclosed causes. A day later, Mirren publicly posted a loving tribute, calling Tania a "kind and generous" person and a "great optimist". - Born Clay O'Brien Cooper on May 6, 1961, and best-known as the pint- sized "Hardy Fimps" in the western coming-of-age film, The Cowboys (1972); Clay O'Brien became a favorite with John Wayne, who appreciated a real cowboy when he met one. Remaining pint-sized for several years, Clay could be found in pleasant but typical Disneyesque fare throughout the 1970's before he left acting and returned to cowboying full-time, where his undisputed talent truly lies. Clay has the respect of cowboys everywhere, holding more Team-Roping championships than anyone and is the holder of Seven World titles in Team-Roping. Clay's rodeo achievements are impressive by any standard and this mini-bio can not even begin to cover them. Standing a respectable 6 feet, Clay and his wife, Beth, have two daughters, Bailey and Quinn.
- Renée Jeanne or Maria Falconetti, born in Pantin (not in Sermano, Corsica, as many film dictionaries wrongly attest) on July 21, 1892 and died in Buenos Aires on December 12, 1946, is a French actress of theater and cinema. Joining the troupe of the Odeon theater in 1916, she made her debut in "l'Arlésienne", and played the heroines of Saint-Georges de Bouhélier "The Life of a Woman", 1919. She made a short passage at the Comédie Française (1924-1925), where she plays Rosine among others in "La Dame aux camélias" and "Lorenzaccio". His last role before a long stay in South America will be that of Andromache in "The Trojan War will not happen", Jean Giraudoux. She remains world famous for having embodied in the cinema the main role of "The Passion of Joan of Arc" by Carl Theodor Dreyer.

Matthew Garber was a British child actor. Both of his parents were theatrical actors, but neither was particularly famous.
In 1963, Garber came to the attention of actor Roy Dotrice (father of Karen Dotrice) who was seeking potential child actors. Roy recommended Garber to the casting department of the Disney company, where young Garber's "artful dodges, like squinting, screwing up his nose, and brushing his hair back with one hand" were thought likely to make him stand out. He was cast in the film "The Three Lives of Thomasina" (1963), as the character Geordie McNab, a playmate to the Scottish girl Mary MacDhui (played by Karen Dotrice).
Garber next received a bigger role as the character Michael Banks in "Mary Poppins" (1964), one of the two charges of the protagonist nanny. Jane Banks, Michael's sister, was played by Karen Dotrice. The film was the greatest hit of Garber's career and is the role for which he is most remembered.
In 1967, Garber had his third and last film role, as the character Rodney Winthrop in "The Gnome-Mobile". In the film, Rodney and his sister Elizabeth Winthrop (played by Karen Dotrice) are trying to prolong the life of a 943-year-old gnome, who has lost the will to survive.
Following his brief film career, Garber returned to his school studies. He attended first St Paul's Primary School in Winchmore Hill, and then Highgate School in Highgate, North London. He graduated in 1972.
In 1976-1977, Garber was in India and contracted hepatitis. He returned to London in June 1977, seeking better medical treatment. It was too late as the disease had infected his pancreas. He died soon after, the official cause being hemorrhagic necrotizing pancreatitis. He was only 21-years-old. He was single and had no known children.
Garber's remains were cremated at St. Marylebone Crematorium, in East Finchley, London. Both of his parents died within a decade following his death. But she persevered through her injuries to graduate with her class in 1994. Never a shy one, she posed for Playboy for the first time at the young age of 20, quickly thereafter moving on to her first acting gig, working with Woody Allen as a featured extra in "Deconstructing Harry," which granted her a coveted Screen Actors Guild card in 1997. She then decided it was time to drive cross country in her silver bullet (aka- her tiny silver Honda Prelude), to create her new life in California in August of 1997. Since arriving in Hollywood, she has had the great privilege of working with many talented directors throughout the years, including Joel Schumacher, Ron Howard, Michael Bay, Joe Johnston, Gregory Poirier, Malcolm Venville and many others. Beautiful, sunny, and engaging blonde actress Heather Menzies was born on December 3, 1949 in Toronto, Canada. Her family moved to the United States when Heather was eleven. She graduated from Hollywood High School and subsequently attended the Falcon Studio's University of the Arts in Hollywood. Heather made a strong and promising film debut as Louisa von Trapp in the delightful classic musical The Sound of Music (1965). Menzies also appeared with The Sound of Music (1965) star Julie Andrews in the epic drama Hawaii (1966). After initially establishing herself as an innocent ingénue in the 1960s, Heather reinvented herself with a much sexier image in the 1970s. She did a nude pictorial for the August 1973 issue of "Playboy." Heather gave an extremely sweet and appealing performance as mad scientist Strother Martin's lovely and loyal daughter in the enjoyably oddball horror feature Sssssss (1973). Menzies was likewise quite spirited and personable as a feisty skip tracer in the terrific fright film cult favorite Piranha (1978).
On television, Heather achieved her greatest fame as scantily clad fugitive Jessica in the short-lived, but still popular Logan's Run (1977) science fiction TV series. Among the numerous TV shows Menzies did guest spots on are The Farmer's Daughter (1963), Dragnet 1967 (1967), Marcus Welby, M.D. (1969), The Love Boat (1977), T.J. Hooker (1982), Bonanza (1959), S.W.A.T. (1975), and Love, American Style (1969). Heather appeared with her late actor husband Robert Urich on several occasions: She acted in three episodes of Vega$ (1978) and one episode of Spenser: For Hire (1985), plus had a small role in the offbeat science fiction mystery thriller Endangered Species (1982). Moreover, Menzies first met Urich on the set of a TV commercial they acted in together. An ovarian cancer survivor, Heather resided in Los Angeles with her three children and worked for the Urich Fund for Sarcoma Research at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center. Menzies died from brain cancer at age 68 on December 24, 2017.- Warm, charming leading lady of 1940s films, Jacqueline White was under contract to both MGM (which wasted her in mostly unbilled bits) and then RKO, where she appeared in two classics--Crossfire (1947) and The Narrow Margin (1952). RKO used her as a second lead in A pictures and leading roles in Bs.
She retired in 1950 upon her marriage to Bruce Anderson and they relocated to Wyoming, where her husband started an oil business. When she returned to Los Angeles for the birth of her first child, she was spotted in the RKO commissary visiting friends by director Richard Fleischer and producer Stanley Rubin, who offered her a co-starring role in "The Narrow Margin". The film, widely acknowledged to be one of the classics of "film noir", sat on the RKO shelf for two years while studio boss Howard Hughes considered whether to extensively edit it or re-shoot it as an "A" with Robert Mitchum and Jane Russell. Eventually, selected scenes were reshot and added in December 1951, nearly a year after the film had originally wrapped--she was flown out from her home in Casper, Wyoming, for these added scenes--and the film was, thankfully, spared any more of Hughes' "improvements". It was released mostly intact due to director Fleischer's striking a deal with Hughes to release the picture without further changes in return for Fleischer's reshooting the end of His Kind of Woman (1951).
Long retired from the film industry, Jacqueline has recently begun appearing at film festivals and conventions. - Actress

Their father, Billy Bush, is an actor who starred in films such as "Five Easy Pieces" (1970), "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" (1974), and "Tom Horn" (1980)"; he was billed as Billy Green Bush in those films. The twins have a brother, Clay. He was seen occasionally on "Little House on the Prairie". Their mother was Carole Kay Bush.
Lindsay and Sidney had their first break sharing the role of Jill Hayden in the 1973 television film "Sunshine" with Cliff DeYoung. After the film wrapped, Michael Landon was casting for his series called "Little House on the Prairie" (based on the series of books by Laura Ingalls Wilder). The Director of "Sunshine", Joseph Sargent, recommended the twins for the role of the youngest daughter Carrie Ingalls. Finally, Landon met them and signed them immediately.
On March 30, 1974 the pilot of "Little House" premiered on NBC, and it was a hit. Six months after the success of the pilot, it had turned into a weekly series. The series premiered on September 11, 1974, and it was a hit as well. In the series, they are billed as Lindsay Sidney Greenbush. The first season, ended with the show at #13 in the ratings. In its second season, the show was in danger of getting the ax because it slipped out of the top 30. Attempting to save the show, NBC moved it from Wednesday to Monday night. By the end of its third season, the show was at #16.
The Carrie character was limited, and fans of the series wanted to see more of her. On December 18, 1978 the fans' wish came true: they get to see the twins alongside one another in an episode called "The Godsister", in which a heartsick Carrie feels lonely after her Pa goes away to work for a month. Carrie creates an imaginary friend, Alyssa, to heal her heartache. The twins switched roles for those characters as well. From seasons 4-7, the show hovered inside the top 20.
During the show's success, the twins (along with co-stars Melissa Gilbert and Melissa Sue Anderson) built a fan base across the country.
For the ninth season, Michael Landon decided to take "Little House" in a new direction, and the show was re-tooled as "Little House: A New Beginning". The twins' absence was explained by having the Ingalls family (except Laura) move to Burr Oak, Iowa, to build a much better life.
After the sisters' departure from "Little House" in 1982, Lindsay guest starred in "Matt Houston" in 1983. She portrayed a victim of abuse. Lindsay went to audition for the part of Dorothy Gale in "Return To Oz". Unfortunately, the producers passed on her because she was considered too old. Sidney starred as Amy McVickers on "Hillie and Hambone" in 1984 with the late Alan Hale.
Outside "Little House", the twins appeared in magazines, commercials, etc. In 1978, the twins wrote to Amy Carter, whose father was president at the time. Carter wrote back, expressing her desire to have them visit the White House, and off they went. Amy told them that "Little House" was her favorite show, so the twins gave her a gift: a portrait of the cast.
They decided to continue with their high-school studies and graduated in 1988 at Santa Monica High School. Rachel Lindsay studied theater arts at both Santa Monica High School and Moorpark College, graduating with a BS in Accountancy from California State Lutheran University.

- Relatively new to Hollywood, handsome Robert Francis was a rising young actor and deemed California's "Golden Boy" on the verge of 1950's cinematic stardom, when on July 31 , 1955, he, along with two others, perished in a private plane crash just after takeoff in Burbank, California.
Robert Charles Francis was born on February 26, 1930, in Glendale, California, where his parents ran a family pharmacy. Growing up he showed early interests in art and in sports, particularly skiing. As a teen he attended Pasadena City College from 1946 to 1948 after completing the tenth grade at Wilson Junior High School. He graduated with a "junior college degree.
The teenager had major designs on becoming an Olympic skier (he was taught by his older brother and the young boy was a ski shop operator at one point). Fate stepped in, however, when he was spotted by a Hollywood talent scout while sunning near the Santa Monica pier. Told his handsome, likable, all-American looks could make a cinematic impression, he decided to take a chance and began signed up for acting classes.
A three-year stint in the U.S. Army (1950-1953) interrupted this progress but, following his discharge, he attended the Batomi Schneider Drama Workshop (Ms. Schneider was a Universal drama coach). Max Arnow, head talent at Columbia, took a liking to Robert and managed to set up a screen test for studio head Harry Cohn who was looking for fresh talent for an upcoming film The Caine Mutiny (1954). Though his inexperience showed through in the test, Robert's courteous but quiet intensity and manly inner rebellion sparked an certain interest in Cohn and the young man was signed to a contract.
Not only did Columbia give Robert the prime role of Ensign Willie Keith in The Caine Mutiny (1954), Bob held his own alongside a formidable group of male stalwarts including Humphrey Bogart, José Ferrer, Van Johnson and Fred MacMurray. His scenes also included a romantic subplot opposite dark-haired beauty May Wynn, who took her stage moniker from the character she played in this film. Robert, sporting the 1950s brush-cut standard of the day, was voted one of Screen World's "Promising Personalities of 1954" upon the successful release of the movie.
Clean-cut and athletic, the young actor continued to show exceptional poise and restraint in his next three co-leads as well, finding a strong niche as odd-man-out military types. Capitalizing on his promising debut, Robert was top-billed in the western They Rode West (1954) as a cavalry captain who bucks against the system and his captain Philip Carey as he selflessly tends to Indians during a malaria epidemic . His co-star, again, was Ms. Wynn again as well as the lovely Donna Reed.
Top-billed as well in his third film, The Bamboo Prison (1954), which was similar but not quite up to the Oscar-winning standards of Stalag 17 (1953) as it reveals the brutalities of POW life, Robert plays a Korean War POW sergeant who attempts to extract valuable information from his captors. He co-stars opposite Brian Keith, as a fellow POW corporal, who initially thinks (as do the other American POWs) that Robert is a traitor for "cooperating" with the enemy.
Robert's fourth and final film was a third-billed part as an ill-fated West Point cadet in the sentimental John Ford bio-drama The Long Gray Line (1955) starring Tyrone Power as a legendary Irish-born West Point sergeant and Maureen O'Hara his altruistic wife. The picture did well.
While Columbia was keen on propelling Robert to top-grade stardom, Robert was showing a strong, keen interest in aviation. At one point, this ill-fated passion put him into contact with eccentric producer/director/aviator billionaire Howard Hughes and the two men frequently went flying together, with young Francis often at the controls of Hughes' planes
Just two weeks before Robert was to start filming a loan-out picture, MGM's romantic western Tribute to a Bad Man (1956) starring James Cagney, Robert decided to pilot a Beechcraft Bonanza owned by friend and fellow actor Joe Kirkwood Jr.. Also on board would be Kirkwood's business partner, the Hollywood agent George Irving Meyer, 38, an experienced WW II pilot, and his lady friend, aspiring actress Audrey Ann Schneider (aka Ann Russell), 24. Immediately following their shaky takeoff from Lockheed Air Terminal in Burbank, the plane's engine sputtered and lost power. Francis, a still relatively inexperienced pilot, managed to avoid a crowd at nearby Valhalla Cemetery, and crashed into a parking lot where it burst into flames, killing all three instantly.
The 25-year-old actor was survived by his parents, James William and Lillian Warnock Francis, and an older brother and sister (Bill, Lillian). He was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Actor Don Dubbins was recast in the Cagney film. A tragic ending for such a promising young man who had a major career cruelly taken from him. - Christopher Olsen was born on 19 September 1946 in Los Angeles, California, USA. The story goes that 19-year-old Colleen Miller was fishing in the California mountains when a resort photographer recruited her to pose with a prize trout; a movie scout saw the picture in print, and Colleen wound up with a small role in The Las Vegas Story (1952). A more noticeable role in Man Crazy (1953) brought the brunette beauty a contract at Universal, where she quickly became a second-rank star in westerns and film-noir. Her best notices were for Playgirl (1954), Four Guns to the Border (1954) and Man in the Shadow (1957), gaining critical praise for her fine natural talent and carefree sensuality. She retired in 1958 (except for one B-western in 1963) for a domestic life with her husband and 2 children. After her 1975 divorce she reportedly considered resuming her career, but has made no more films to date. In 1976 she married Walter Ralphs of the Ralphs Grocery chain and remained married to him till his death in 2010.- Sara Lane's relatively brief fling with show biz began in 1966 when she was cast as the orphaned Wyoming frontier girl Elizabeth Grainger in the long-running NBC western series The Virginian (1962). Opposite her co-stars James Drury and Doug McClure, she went on to feature in some 105 episodes until the penultimate season concluded in 1970.
Blonde and blue-eyed, she was born Susan Russell Lane in New York, the oldest of three siblings, to Broadway and screen actors Rusty Lane and Sara Anderson. As a nine months-old toddler, she appeared in an advertisement for a brand of soap and in an educational film about 'bathing babies'. The family later relocated to California where Sara attended Santa Monica High School, and, aged 12, made a TV commercial for vitamin pills. Producer/director William Castle noticed her picture in a newspaper covering her participation as a semi-finalist in a Miss Los Angeles Teen beauty contest. This led to a successful audition and a featured role (as one of two teenage telephone pranksters who get more than they bargained for) in the Joan Crawford thriller I Saw What You Did (1965).
Sara's approach to acting as a profession was reticent. She persisted in order to, in her own words, earn enough money to keep "making clothes, making jewelry, and raising quarter horses" (she owned two). In 1966, she was signed by the future head of Universal TV, Frank Price, to play the female lead in season five of The Virginian. Her casting for the role was aided by her skills as an equestrian. In fact, her experience on horseback allowed her to perform many of her own stunts.
In the mid-70s, Sara appeared (now billed as Russell Lane) in several low budget productions that are best forgotten. After retiring from film work in 1977, Sara and her husband were co-founders seven years later of the Havens Winery in Napa Valley, which, over time, acquired a solid reputation for producing red wine blends. In 2010, the business was acquired by the Smith-Anderson Wine Group.
Susan Russell Lane died from breast cancer on March 3 2023 and was survived by her husband of 43 years Jon Scott and her two children. - Actress

Vitina was born Dolores Vitina Marcus in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, of Sicilian and Hungarian parentage to Frank Marcus and his wife Rose. In her teens, she studied ballet, learned to play the violin and worked briefly as a model for the Huntington Hartford Agency. At the age of 17, she began taking classes at Lee Strasberg's Actor's Studio. Adopting the first name of her Sicilian grandmother, she made her screen debut as Dolores Vitina, one of sixteen female dancers comprising The June Taylor Dancers, featured weekly on The Jackie Gleason Show (1952). Her motion picture debut followed soon after in the crime drama Never Love a Stranger (1958).
Between 1959 and 1970, Vitina appeared in many a classic TV show, her exotic, sultry looks ideally suited for casting as Native Americans: in Have Gun - Will Travel (1957) (as Della White Cloud, an Apache princess), in Death Valley Days (1952), Rawhide (1959), Gunsmoke (1955) and in The Virginian (1962). As a 'female Tarzan', she captured Napoleon Solo (Robert Vaughn) in an episode of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (1964), set in Africa. As Kublai Khan's daughter, she was wooed by James Darren in The Time Tunnel (1966). After her introduction to producer Irwin Allen, sometime around 1959 or 1960, Vitina was often featured in Allen's fantasy or science fiction-themed productions. Her characters were regularly menaced by dinosaurs, phantoms and giant spiders, painted gold, or, more famously, green. Stranger still, was her romantic pursuit of the nefarious and cowardly Dr. Zachary Smith (Jonathan Harris) in the Lost in Space (1965) episode 'The Girl from the Green Dimension'. Her role as Athena, aka 'The Green Lady', has remained the one for which she is most fondly remembered and is also her own personal favorite.
After her retirement from acting in 1970, Vitina moved to Las Vegas. She worked for some time as a cocktail waitress before becoming a real estate broker under her married name Vitina Graham.- Actress

Born in Santa Monica, California, in 1945, Richard Eyer was the kid with the clean-cut, all-American look who won a number of "personality contests" and other competitions before he made his film debut in the early 1950s. Mainstream audiences may remember Eyer best as the youngster who runs "afowl" of the nipping goose in director William Wyler's Friendly Persuasion (1956), while sci-fi fans will recall that he had star billing and the title role in The Invisible Boy (1957), producer Nicholas Nayfack's independently-made follow-up to MGM's popular Forbidden Planet (1956). Eyer now lives in a small town East of California's Sierra Nevada Mountains and teaches elementary school.- Actress

As the only girl in a family of four children, Tracy Needham found that her height gave her a leg up whenever she would play football with the boys. I grew up being very competitive with guys", says Needham, who is 5'11". "I was always jumping into football games and wanted to be treated equally and not have boys take it easy on me because I was a girl. But I usually ended up with my nose bloody". Needham was born on a March 28 in Dallas, Texas, where her father was a home builder. When she was 8, the Needhams moved to Denver, and her father's work dictated that the family move back and forth between the two cities. Needham was fully grown by the eighth grade, and later, when she took to heart a high-school theater director's snippy advice that she was too tall to appear on stage, she worked on the technical crew instead. After her high-school graduation, Needham traveled through Europe and Australia. In 1988, she went to Los Angeles to study acting and audition for roles. She made her TV acting debut on Jake and the Fatman (1987). After a few more acting classes, she landed the part of "Paige Thatcher", the big sister on Life Goes On (1989) (1989-93), beginning in the series's second season. Life Goes On (1989), I learned for the first time how to hit a mark, developed confidence, and became comfortable with myself," she says.- Actress

- Handsome second lead actor, briefly under contract to Universal-International in the mid-1950s. He was born John Papiro of Italian ancestry on 23 February 1934 to Guido and Frances M. Papiro in Los Angeles, California. Following a stint in the army, Papiro adopted the stage moniker Race Gentry (purportedly because he liked fast cars) and embarked on a brief acting career on screen. He made his debut as the younger version of gunslinger John Wesley Hardin (the older played by Rock Hudson) in the heavily romanticized western The Lawless Breed (1952). In another tepid horse opera, Black Horse Canyon (1954), he joined forces with fellow rancher Joel McCrea , competing with a neighbouring rival over the possession of a wild black stallion. Gentry also popped up in a couple of war pictures before devoting his energy to acting on the small screen. His motion picture swansong was Thunder in Carolina (1960), as a cocky young stock car racer mentored by veteran driver Rory Calhoun. For this effort, he changed his name again -- to John Gentry (not to be confused with the British racing engineer of that name). After a few more guest roles on TV, Gentry departed the scene in 1966 to be heard from no more.
