- DirectorLenny AbrahamsonStarsBrie LarsonJacob TremblaySean BridgersA little boy is held captive in a room with his mother since his birth, so he has never known the world outside.Imagine your whole life inside a 10 x 10 foot room, where the only connection to the outside world is a small roof skylight and a TV, how would you stop yourself from going completely mad ? and thats just for starters ! Brie Larson puts in a stunning performance as the mother (Ma) of 5 year old Jack who was born in captivity following his mums kidnapping 2 years before he was born. Young Jack brilliantly played by Jacob Tremblay only knows inside the "Room" to be real and everything on TV is just make believe. Ma is the sex slave of Old Nick the kidnapper who provides everything to keep them alive in his garden shed converted to their prison cell. Ma does what she thinks best by Jack and tries to normalise this small world with stories and games. But following Jack's 5th birthday Ma tells Jack about the reality of their lives and is determined to make a break for freedom and concocts a plan to escape. When Jack encounters the outside world for the first time everything is so overwhelming he can barely believe his eyes. The comparison of Room to the outside world is beautifuly conveyed through Jacks thoughts. This all goes towards making this a truly affecting movie and at times difficult to watch without a tear in your eye. Not for everyone but incredibly breathtaking for people who like an emotional rollercoaster of a journey of discovery.
- DirectorGeorge MillerStarsTom HardyCharlize TheronNicholas HoultIn a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a woman rebels against a tyrannical ruler in search for her homeland with the aid of a group of female prisoners, a psychotic worshiper and a drifter named Max.With a budget of nearly £100,000,000 (or should I say nearly £100,000,000 more than the original 1979 Mad Max) you would expect this to be pretty good ?! so just as well its absolutely fantastically brilliant (and barking mad) then. Tom Hardy is becoming one of my favourite actors, he is so versatile. Charlize Theron is brilliant as usual! Nicholas Hoult (yes you might say I recognise him from something) shows he has come a long way since About A Boy and there's a great bunch of baddies. The assortment of vehicles are the real stars though, they have taken the cut and shunt to a whole new level ! wacky racers look like normal cars in comparison !. I think the 3D effects were pretty good too, not overdone and well worth seeing in this format. Doesn't really compare to the first Mad Max which looks quite dated and cheap now but does resemble the better MM Road Warrior. So if you looking for nearly 2 hours of action packed fun set in a deserted dystopian future you must go see this. Defo one for the Blu Ray list this crimbo. My new favourite of the year so far.
Update - So good in fact that I have now seen it 3 times already and enjoyed it more the second time, 3rd time in 2D not so much so if you get a chance to see it in 3D go for it !!
Further update since getting the 3D blu ray for Christmas (thanks mum, couldn't wait opened it early) it is still brilliant on the small screen at home ! - DirectorRidley ScottStarsMatt DamonJessica ChastainKristen WiigAn astronaut becomes stranded on Mars after his team assume him dead, and must rely on his ingenuity to find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive and can survive until a potential rescue. It was good to see Matt Damon in a space suit again , he was so good in Interstellar ! and here again he delivers another stunning performance. It's also nice to see that Ridley Scott has is mojo back, maybe he should stick to Sci-Fi more often. The film is full of stunning scenery , Mars looks so believable and in 3D you feel as if you are there. Matt's character Watney is very likeable due to the fact that he has great humour in spite of the fact he has been abandoned alone on Mars. Being an astronaut / botanist turns out to be his good fortune and helps him to survive longer than expected millions of miles away from earth. The rescue mission team played out by some great supporting acts including Jeff Daniels , Kristen Wiig and Sean Bean even just adds to the overall strength of this movie. The special effects team did a brilliant job too, although I can't believe the budget was just over $100 000 000, surely this cost a lot more than that !? The story is of course the heart of this movie , human beings will always try to save / rescue their fellow man, (with my cynical head on I doubt this to be true when it costs billions of dollars.) but putting that to one side will make this movie experience all the more enjoyable. This is great sci-fi adventure with laughs, so the fact that it is 135 minutes long will go unnoticed. Another must see (again) and hopefully the BluRay release will give us lots of extras.OK I've pre-ordered the BluRay something I rarely do. Just for good measure I went to see this again in January 2016 and enjoyed it so much that I promoted it to my second favourite film of 2015.
- DirectorBrad BirdStarsGeorge ClooneyBritt RobertsonHugh LaurieBound by a shared destiny, a teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor embark on a mission to unearth the secrets of a place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory. From the trailer you might be expecting something awesome, unfortunately what we get falls a bit short. Ok George Clooney is in it so its not all bad news, but the story is a bit confusing for me, was it trying to encourage optimism too much or creativity too little?. Who is this film aimed at ? I can't imagine it will make sense to young children and there isn't enough action in it for teenagers or old gits like me even. Tomorrowland could be one of those films that would have benefitted from 3D because then they might have added more action especially in the tomorrowland sequences. Don't get me wrong I did enjoy this film but at just over 2 hours it was too long and lacked substance. There was a notable good performance from young Raffey Cassidy so watch out for her.
- DirectorBen PalmerStarsLake BellRory KinnearKen StottA single woman takes the place of a stranger's blind date and finds the perfect man for her.As British RomComs go it aint bad, best since Love Rosie anyway. Simon Pegg is getting on a bit now for romcoms but does a good job in this blind-date second time rounder. At least I got to see it ! Pegg's last 2 films didn't even get a showing at my local cinemas ! Anyhow it's not quite love at first site, it takes all day to click. Lake Bell is the quirky match and is convincing as an English singleton, not quite Bridget Jones but funnier. Ok it is fairly formulaic stuff but does have some great LOL gags along the way, well there were a couple of people watching that made quite a lot of noise throughout, not quite necessary but they must have enjoyed it more than me. (a 7.4 rounded up to 8 ! because that's what I'm like)
- DirectorPeyton ReedStarsPaul RuddMichael DouglasCorey StollArmed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, cat burglar Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, pull off a plan that will save the world. Not quite up to par for Marvel movies but I guess they had a small budget ? although to be honest the Marvel franchise is getting a bit boring anyway isn't it? or is it just me getting tired of all that characterless action?. They seem to have tried to add more humour in this one but again it is quite a comical concept to start with so most gags are just silly. I would say this is just for the die hard fans who will just eat up anything Marvel churns out from their movie mince machine.
- DirectorTerry JonesStarsSimon PeggKate BeckinsaleSanjeev BhaskarA group of eccentric aliens confers a human being with the power to do absolutely anything, as an experiment.Simon Pegg is a busy man these days working on the big budget action blockbusters like Star Trek and Mission Impossible franchises , but he also stars in some great British comedies too, this being one of them. The big surprise for me is that yet again this Pegg film is not being shown at my local cinema , (what's going on Cineworld ?) that's 4 films in a row now!. How are they going to get bums on seats if they don't put it in more screens? It is a shame because this is quite good and very funny in places, ok. still not quite up to the hey day of the superb films with Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shawn of the Dead and Paul) but still well worth going to see if you want a good laugh. The fact that this has a Monty Python element or 2 or 3 or more does seem to help here , not just directed by Terry Jones but with voice performances from John Cleese, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones too. Another great voice performance from the late Robin Williams just for good measure. The monty python crew are aliens from outer space who give Neil (Pegg) the ability to do absolutely anything, a bit like Morgan Freeman's God in Jim Carrey's Bruce Almighty he has to prove himself worthy of that immense power and likewise he doesn't get it right on many occasions. The romantic interest , yes they had to throw that in too comes from Kate Beckinsale a bit of a mismatch but that's typical ?! anyway from one disaster to another Neil eventually gets the hang of all that power and puts it to good use (or not?) with hilarious consequences. There's a sprinkling of british comedy actors popping up here and there and even a couple of scenes with Professor Brian Cox (as himself) which just adds a little bit more to the comedy pot. The last 15 minutes of the film tails off a bit because Neil doesn't make so many mistakes but you would expect that anyway. Well worth going to see, the audience in the cinema was well and truly laughing out loud for this one.
- DirectorJohn Erick DowdleStarsLake BellPierce BrosnanOwen WilsonIn their new overseas home, an American family soon finds themselves caught in the middle of a coup, and they frantically look for a safe escape from an environment where foreigners are being immediately executed.
- DirectorNima NourizadehStarsJesse EisenbergKristen StewartConnie BrittonA stoner - who is in fact a government agent - is marked as a liability and targeted for extermination. But he's too well-trained and too high for them to handle.
- DirectorBrian HelgelandStarsTom HardyEmily BrowningTaron EgertonIdentical twin gangsters Ronald and Reginald Kray terrorize London during the 1960s.Tom Hardy - you are the man ! is there nothing this man can't do ?! He usually puts in a great performance but here he doubles up and gives two.! The film is not necessarily what you might expect , its not an out and out gangster movie although there are several bloody brutal scenes that are not for the squeamish , its equally a romantic drama in the foreground and the gangster stuff alongside. I am not sure a full biography of the Krays is needed the early years have been well covered in other films. This focuses on the years where Reggie is in a relationship with Francis Shea, very well played by Aussie Emily Browning. The courtship started when Frances was just 16 and eventually led to marriage which turns bad. This film doesn't show too much (enough ?) of the dark side of Frances life or Reggie's behaviour as the violent and abusive husband. The violence is limited to the main crimes which led to the Krays convictions. There are some really good supporting actors doing a good job as 1960s Londoners. As someone born in London, I would have expected a bit more cockney slang, maybe the script was edited to avoid confusion with the uninitiated.? Well worth going to see , providing you don't mind a bit of bad language and bloody violence.
- DirectorBaltasar KormákurStarsJason ClarkeAng Phula SherpaThomas M. WrightOn May 10, 1996, mountain guides Rob Hall and Scott Fischer combine their expedition teams for a final ascent to the summit of Mount Everest. With little warning, a storm strikes the mountain and the climbers must now battle to survive.I went to see this not knowing it was a true story or that it was a reboot of the film Into Thin Air, I prefer not to have seen any trailers for films to avoid any preconceived ideas as what to expect. That said I found this to be rather slow and annoying because I thought surely people wouldn't really be this stupid. This story highlights the problem of overcrowding on Everest and turning it into a rich mans playground, Tourism in it's most extreme !?. This film follows the tragic episode in May 1996 when things went wrong. Ok at the end I found out it was a true story and still didn't have much sympathy for those who had perished , I did however feel sorry for the family of those who had died because they had to suffer the lose of their loved ones who selfishly lived out their dreams. This aspect of the film sadly wasn't shown enough in my opinion and to be honest we didn't get enough of the climbers drive to do these things either. The cinematography was probably the best aspect of this film, the characterisation seemed shallow in comparison to the majesty of the mountain and the domination of the elements. In 3D this made more sense than other recent 3D films , you really need the depth of 3D to feel you are in the tent, out on the mountain or in the blizzard and for me that's what made this more watchable. Jason Clarke puts in the only real standout performance with others only having smaller roles it is difficult to rate them which was a shame because it would have been nice to see more of Jake Gyllenhaal and Kiera Knightley. if you like extreme adventure films or mountaineering you will probably enjoy this more than I did either way where something warm to avoid the chills.
- DirectorDenis VilleneuveStarsEmily BluntJosh BrolinBenicio Del ToroAn idealistic FBI agent is enlisted by a government task force to aid in the escalating war against drugs at the border area between the U.S. and Mexico. If you are looking for a tense dark thriller, then look no further. This film is full of tension doesn't pull any punches with its hard hitting drama. Benicio Del Toro is the Sicario (Hitman Alajendro) working with a covert task force enpowered to do what it takes to tackle the drug trafficking blood letting on the US Mexican border led by Josh Brolin (Matt Graver) who gives his best performance I can remember, they enlist a FBI agent Kate (Emily Blunt) who has just had a taste of the drugs war where some of her team were killed and wants in on the action to make a difference. These 3 characters are completely different, Kate is the do it by the book element Matt is lets get it done whatever it takes and Alajendro is the dark mysterious hitman out for revenge. The tension between them and the shared enemy will have you on the edge of your seat for the full 2 hours, although you are in constant anticipation of what's coming next it still comes as a surprise, you just cant predict what will happen next. All of this is set with a backdrop of some great aerial footage and dark and moody music just to add to the tension.
Great performance from all 3 although maybe Blunt had a tough job keeping up with the other 2. Possibly the best cop/ drug war thriller of the year, well worth going to see. - DirectorRobert ZemeckisStarsJoseph Gordon-LevittCharlotte Le BonBen KingsleyIn 1974, high-wire artist Philippe Petit recruits a team of people to help him realize his dream: to walk the immense void between the World Trade Center towers.I heard it was good in 3D, so caught the last afternoon showing at my second nearest cinema, once again my local Cineworld didn't bother to show it at all ! another case of them missing out on a brilliant movie experience. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is superb as the Frenchman Philippe Petit and is fast becoming one of my favourite actors, he even narrates the story from the top of the statue of Liberty. The film is 2 hours long but is so well paced and so gripping you wouldn't notice. There is a good buildup and background on the early days of Philippe and his exploits as a street performer and learning the high wire secrets from a master wireman (Ben Kingsley) in the circus. The tension is heightened to an ever increasing level when the action gets to New York, you are not just on the edge of your seat , you are on the edge of the world trade centre ! and yes the 3D effects are well worthwhile ! Another outstanding biopic, with some great performances from accomplices. Catch it while you can it is a must see in 3D in my book.
- DirectorColin TrevorrowStarsChris PrattBryce Dallas HowardTy SimpkinsA new theme park, built on the original site of Jurassic Park, creates a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur, the Indominus Rex, which escapes containment and goes on a killing spree.I was surprised to hear this movie was coming to the big screen considering how disappointing the last outing Jurassic Park 3 was.
My recommendation is that if you haven't seen any of the original 3 movies (unlikely but possible ?) don't be tempted to now, watch this and it will be all the more enjoyable, well they say ignorance is bliss !
Of course you probably have seen the original and best film from 1993 and even the still very enjoyable JP2 of 1997 which this film compares favourably to. It is leaps and bounds better than JP3 of 2001 which was inevitable because that film was scraping the barrel for ideas. The CGI has improved quite a bit and that is where the money has been spent I guess (another £100 000 000 film !) with the added bonus of 3D which I thought was really good. Ok the story is obviously predictable , we aren't expecting all the dinosaurs to stay in their pens and behave themselves are we !? The newish ideas come in the form that we have trained the dinos to be more entertaining a bit like sea-world and for that extra wow factor that is of course needed we have a new chimera of a dinosaur in Indominus-rex a real badass monster who inevitably runs amok. There are some funny and romantic moments dropped in here and there and of course the baddies in the background with their own agendas for the dinosaurs. Chris Pratt shows us again how entertaining he can be as the action hero and will obviously be doing more comedy action in future. BD Wong is again the scientist from the original 1993 film, it would have been nice to see Sam Neil but you can't have everything ,maybe JP3 scared him or should I say scarred him ? Anyway ,if you want to see an action packed entertaining big blockbuster of a movie go and see Mad Max Fury Road, if you want to see an entertaining action movie about dinosaurs , Jurassic World is a good option. - DirectorAlan TaylorStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerJason ClarkeEmilia ClarkeWhen John Connor, leader of the human resistance, sends Sgt. Kyle Reese back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor and safeguard the future, an unexpected turn of events creates a fractured timeline.Bare in mind I am a little bit biased, being a big ; Terminator , Arnie and SciFi Fan. So with 3 ticks before the start it can only get better right ?! too right, ok its sort of a reboot rather than a sequel/prequel or straight update copy of the original but there are a few early sequences that add nostalgia from the first films just to fool you. From then on there are more twists than a scrap yard. Arnie shows up in several incarnations and is at he's best yet with a new word and smile that just cracked me up, he was definitely back !! Sarah Connor is played by the lovely Emilia Clarke who is new to me and does a much better job than the original Linda Hamilton as far as I am concerned anyway. Jai Courtney is also a much better Kyle Reese. So with all the upgrades in acting performances and 3D special effects it is as good as T2 if not better ?! There is a bit of a brain bender in all of the time travel concepts but I think its best not to dwell on that too much and just accept this Science FICTION element will always be hard to believe and is pointless trying to unravel it as a plot hole or 2. Just go with it and it is a very entertaining action packed movie.
- DirectorGuy RitchieStarsHenry CavillArmie HammerAlicia VikanderIn the early 1960s, CIA agent Napoleon Solo and KGB operative Illya Kuryakin participate in a joint mission against a mysterious criminal organization, which is working to proliferate nuclear weapons. It's a Guy Ritchie film , alright !? Great fun, great action and a great cast with a superb script. This is so slick, so amusing and so good I can't understand why it has had such a short run at my local Cinema, I would have liked to see it again but circumstances didn't allow unfortunately ! If you are old enough to remember the original Man from UNCLE you wont be disappointed with this much needed reboot.
It has plenty of everything and easily competes with Bond or Mission Impossible. In fact I like Henry Cavill in this role, why the doubters ? and of course I am a big fan of Alicia Vikander who shines again, i'm not too familiar with Armie Hammer but he bounced off Henry really well so in hope there's going to be a sequel ! Another must see.!! - DirectorWes BallStarsDylan O'BrienKaya ScodelarioThomas Brodie-SangsterAfter having escaped the Maze, the Gladers now face a new set of challenges on the open roads of a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles.Let the games begin ! just kidding, it's nothing like the Hunger Games, for a start this does not have such a hefty wages bill. As sequels go this is one of those rare occasions where it gets better second time out. I enjoyed the first film in spite of some minor teething flaws , this time there are still some flaws but with the addition of the Cranks , Zombie like humans it gets a bonus point from me. Obviously the Gladers haven't found a safe haven and now need to run through the desert zone, hence the title, we gain a few new characters, who can they trust ? who is WCKD ? ok you too might guess but this doesn't spoil it for me. I think the use of lesser known actors is an advantage because although there is a leader of the gang in Thomas you pay attention to the rest of the gang and deservedly so because they all put in good performances. The budget must have gone up quite a bit because there is more of a blockbuster feel about it, the city scape is although not very original looking still evident of the extra effort that went into the making of this film. I watched this film in 3D and even in Screen 1, I was the only person enjoying this movie, maybe the advertising budget was too low? There aren't a lot of big action sequences so it just goes to show you don't have to spend over £100 000 000 to make a dystopian sci fi thriller. I liked it and can't wait for the conclusion in part 3 , worthy of a 2 parter ? they wouldn't do that ? surely not.
- DirectorAlejandro G. IñárrituStarsLeonardo DiCaprioTom HardyWill PoulterA frontiersman on a fur trading expedition in the 1820s fights for survival after being mauled by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team.It has been difficult not to know much about this movie , there has been so much publicity and hype with award nominations etc., Starring 2 of my favourite actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy it was always going to be a must see anyway, both put in fantastic performances. With director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu at the helm it was also odds on to be a winner. Inspired by true events this is an epic tale of survival and redemption that will have you glued to your seat for 2 and 1/2 hours. If Leonardo DiCaprio doesn't get the oscar for best actor it will be another serious error from the judges as far as DiCaprio is concerned, Tom Hardy also puts in another great performance and is worthy of another oscar. The cinematography is simply breathtakingly superb and it is clear that a lot of effort went into the making of this big screen epic. The makeup is really impressive, especially the scars on DiCaprio following the bear attack. Possibly/probably the best film of the year ?, who can tell this early in the movie calendar, it is sure going to take something special to beat it. I am looking forward to seeing it again next week. Just as good the second time and I noticed the music more which is brilliant too.
- DirectorPaul SoletStarsKeir GilchristStella MaeveMaestro HarrellA 17-year-old is on house arrest for the summer while his mother is away on business. A horrifying incident occurs leaving an ominous presence in the house.
- DirectorSimon CurtisStarsHelen MirrenRyan ReynoldsDaniel BrühlMaria Altmann, an octogenarian Jewish refugee, takes on the Austrian government to recover artwork she believes rightfully belongs to her family.Helen Mirren shines as brightly has the Klimt painting of the title.
There are great supporting performances from Ryan Reynolds and Daniel Bruhl. This true story highlights the shameful cooperation between Austria and the Nazis during the second world war, where so many jews had their property stolen as here the Klimt paintings of the Bloch-Bauher family. Mirren plays Maria, a surviving member of the family who takes on the Austrian government to claim back her property in the restitution legal battle of 2000-2006. There are flashbacks to some good and bad times before the second world war but only some references of the holocaust. This is about the eventual justice that Maria Altmann gets and highlights that this is still just the tip of the iceberg. Well worth going to see. - DirectorBill CondonStarsIan McKellenLaura LinneyHiroyuki SanadaAn aged, retired Sherlock Holmes deals with dementia, as he tries to remember his final case, and a mysterious woman, whose memory haunts him. He also befriends a fan, the young son of his housekeeper, who wants him to work again. As Sherlock Holmes films go this will stand out as the most original.
Rather than another demonstration of the master of perception we have a charming portrait of an aged Holmes suffering from memory problems. Holmes is trying to write up his last case of 35 years earlier and we get flashbacks rather than a complete mystery solved. Ian McKellen is outstanding as Holmes in both ages, he is so brilliant at performing with his whole body and is so convincing with the little twitch here and stumble there. This is truly an Oscar nomination performance for Ian and maybe 3rd time lucky for a win this time ? Mr Holmes shares the screen with a boy called Roger a marvellous young actor in Milo Parker (reminded me of a young Thomas Brodie-Sangster) another rising star ? Other great supporting roles / performances from Laura Linney and Hiroyuki Sanada go towards making this a must see film for the summer. - DirectorPete DocterRonnie Del CarmenStarsAmy PoehlerBill HaderLewis BlackAfter young Riley is uprooted from her Midwest life and moved to San Francisco, her emotions - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness - conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house, and school.
- DirectorJustin KurzelStarsMichael FassbenderMarion CotillardJack MadiganMacbeth, the Thane of Glamis, receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife, Macbeth murders his king and takes the throne for himself.
- DirectorJames WanStarsVin DieselPaul WalkerDwayne JohnsonDeckard Shaw seeks revenge against Dominic Toretto and his family for his comatose brother. It could only get better when Jason Statham turns up ! and as an added bonus we get Kurt Russell too , a sure recipe for success.
The car chases are more extreme than ever ,the stunts are even more impossible but still look somehow almost believable and fights are as silly as ever, doesn't anyone ever get a bloody nose or a black eye , not in this crew ! even bullets are no more than an annoying splinters. This is so over the top you just can't help but love it. Ends with a nice tribute to Paul Walker ,RIP. The end of an era. - DirectorAnna BodenRyan FleckStarsBen MendelsohnRyan ReynoldsYvonne LandryDown on his luck and facing financial hardship, Gerry teams up with younger charismatic poker player, Curtis, in an attempt to change his luck. The two set off on a road trip through the South with visions of winning back what's been lost.
- DirectorNeill BlomkampStarsSharlto CopleyDev PatelHugh JackmanIn the near future, crime is patrolled by a mechanized police force. When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself.Another SciFi from the South African Blomkamp and his crew although its really good, its not that original compared to District 9. Its not much like AI or Short Circuit but due to the level of violence and bad language it does resemble Robocop somewhat although Robo engineer Hugh Jackman's hair is a bit distracting as is his mercurial character. What really lets it down for me is the poor acting of Ninja and Yolandi which is a shame because the rest of the cast are on the whole pretty good. Maybe Blomkamp needs to be more focussed on talent instead of local availability. That said, I still gave it an 8 but it could have been better.
- DirectorTodd HaynesStarsCate BlanchettRooney MaraSarah PaulsonAn aspiring photographer develops an intimate relationship with an older woman in 1950s New York.Cate Blanchett is my favourite actress and this film highlights why, she is so versatile she seems to be so convincing in whatever role she has. Here she plays the well to do senior lesbian in a strange romance with a young shop worker coming to terms with her sexuality during the 1950s. Not a film I would normally consider going to the cinema to see, but Blanchett is too good to miss and is well supported by the lovely Rooney Mara. This film is not just about 2 great acting performances, the cinematography is more noticeably brilliant too, due to the fantastic close ups and shooting through windows etc that just add another dimension to this beautiful story of a veiled romance. Superb and justified in all the award nominations it already has and will likely win.
- DirectorDamien ChazelleStarsMiles TellerJ.K. SimmonsMelissa BenoistA promising young drummer enrolls at a cut-throat music conservatory where his dreams of greatness are mentored by an instructor who will stop at nothing to realize a student's potential. An amazing film about extreme dedication to a goal, the blood sweat and tears!! I am not a big fan of jazz music but this movie may have started a conversion. The lead performances are as good if not better than as you may of heard. Although I wouldn't put this at the top of my list for best film awards only because I preferred Birdman and Gone Girl. However Miles Teller is definitely one to watch for the future. I didn't get a chance to see this again because once again it wasn't shown at my local cinema.
- DirectorFouad MikatiStarsRosamund PikeShiloh FernandezNick NolteA nurse living in small town goes on a blind date with a man who is not the person he says he is.
