- CreatorSanto CilauroTom GleisnerRob SitchStarsLachy HulmeDavid JamesNeil MelvilleMockumentary that follows the daily situations in which the staff from the Australian Prime Minister find themselves. If you like the Thick of it of VEEP, you will love this. It isn't from the same team as those but it has a similar premise. It is a very well written piece of comedy and I can't recommend it enough.
- CreatorSanto CilauroTom GleisnerJane KennedyStarsRob SitchJane KennedyTiriel MoraBased on the making of a fictitious Australian CURRENT AFFAIRS show, Frontline blends invented events with REAL LIFE events. A true reflection of THE TIMES we live in.The Australians do satire almost as well as the English! Think Larry Sanders or Drop the Dead Donkey, frontline follows the employees of a current affairs show backstage, on air and through their private lives.
- CreatorRob CarltonRussell SmythAlex WeinressStarsRob CarltonRebecca MasseyDarren GilshenanThe comedic adventures of a grandiose, self-described documentary filmmaker who, in reality, runs a two-bit video production company.A hidden gem of a sitcom. Very funny, well written with well developed characters. It follows the lives of a small production company who specialise in making documentaries. Currently only Series 1 is available on DVD but you can get series two through iTunes (Australian).
- CreatorJohn ClarkeRoss StevensonStarsJohn ClarkeBryan DaweGina RileyMockumentary about the organisation of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. The inspiration behind the British sitcom twenty twelve, although they won't admit it! A mocumentary which documents the run up to the Sydney Olympics. A great piece of satire.
- CreatorRobyn ButlerWayne HopeStarsRobyn ButlerRoz HammondHeidi ArenaWhat happens when you put a Catholic bigot with a panic disorder in charge of a library?Could easily have missed the mark, but doesn't. No means the greatest sitcom ever but it is funny and well worth a look. Set in a struggling library.
- CreatorGina RileyJane TurnerStarsJane TurnerGina RileyGlenn RobbinsA mother, her daughter, and their respective "hunks of spunk" negotiate life in suburban Australia.Struggles to maintain its brilliance towards the end and is slightly confused as to whether it's a mocumentary or not. Even though, it's a good concept and has a lot more highs than it does lows. Kel is the standout character.
- StarsGlenn RobbinsHermann IbergTom MartinSlapstick mockumentary about an enthusiastic Aussie wildlife expert, Russell Coight, whose haphazard and inept adventuring style ensures that he is a danger to anything and anyone he meets, not to mention himself.Parody of the survivalist programs which were popular back in the 90s. Can be a bit silly at times, and relies on an overuse of similar jokes. Good though.
- CreatorAmanda BrotchieAdam ZwarStarsAdam ZwarPaul DennyBeth BuchananThe turbulent life of a hapless newspaper journalist.I have only watched a couple so far but so far so good. I was expecting a satirical look at the world of newspapers but instead, is a well written sitcom.
- CreatorRobyn ButlerWayne HopeGary McCaffrieStarsKim GyngellWayne HopeIan BlissA smarmy, debt riddled, borderline con-artist teams up with a chronically depressed acclaimed journalist to try and keep his head above water.Again, I have only seen a couple of episodes so far but it has a fair few laugh out loud moments. I can certainly recommend.
- StarsAnne CharlestonMichael CatonRyan JohnsonA working-class Australian couple, named Dossa and Joe, start marriage guidance sessions after Joe retiresNot strictly Australian as it was written by Caroline Aherne, but set in Australia and comprised of Australian actors. Brilliant and understated comedy. As you would expect from Caroline. Please email me for DVD details.
- CreatorJason GannTony RogersAdam ZwarStarsJason GannAdam ZwarCindy WaddinghamA depressed man is the only one who can see his girlfriend's dog as a full-grown man in a dog suit.A lot darker, and funnier (in my opinion) than the American remake.
