Greta Gerwig is an American actress, playwright, screenwriter, and director. She has collaborated with Noah Baumbach on several films, including Greenberg (2010), Frances Ha (2012), for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination, and Mistress America (2015). Gerwig made her solo directorial debut with the critically acclaimed comedy-drama film Lady Bird (2017), which she also wrote, and has also had starring roles in the films Damsels in Distress (2011), Jackie (2016), and 20th Century Women (2016).
Greta Celeste Gerwig was born in Sacramento, California, to Christine Gerwig (née Sauer), a nurse, and Gordon Gerwig, a financial consultant and computer programmer. She has German, Irish, and English ancestry. Gerwig was raised as a Unitarian Universalist, but also attended an all-girls Catholic school. She has described herself as "an intense child". With an early interest in dance, she intended to get a degree in musical theatre in New York. She graduated from Barnard College in NY, where she studied English and philosophy, instead. Originally intending to become a playwright, after meeting young film director Joe Swanberg, she became the star of a series of intellectual low budget movies made by first-time filmmakers, a trend dubbed "mumblecore".
Gerwig was cast in a minor role in Swanberg's LOL (2006) in 2006, while still studying at Barnard. She then appeared in many of Swanberg's films, and personally co-directed, co-wrote and co-produced one entitled Nights and Weekends (2008). She has worked with good quality directors such as Ti West (The House of the Devil (2009)), Whit Stillman (Damsels in Distress (2011)), or Woody Allen (To Rome with Love (2012)) but success and (international) recognition did not come until Frances Ha (2012), directed by Noah Baumbach, a film she also co-wrote. Both tall and immature, awkward and graceful, blundering and candid, annoying and engaging, Greta has won all hearts in the title role of Frances Ha(liday).
In 2017, she wrote and directed the highly acclaimed, semi-autobiographical teen movie Lady Bird (2017), set in 2002-2003, and starring Saoirse Ronan, Laurie Metcalf, and Timothée Chalamet.
In 2011, Gerwig received an award for Acting from the Athena Film Festival for her artistry as one of Hollywood's definitive screen actresses of her generation.- Actress

Beautiful Anita Page was one of the most famous and popular leading ladies during the last years of the silent screen and the first years of the talkie era. She was best known for starring in The Broadway Melody (1929), the first sound film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. Her leading men included John Gilbert, Clark Gable, Buster Keaton, and Robert Montgomery.
Only in her late teens when stardom beckoned, Anita had a huge following that earned her record amounts of fan mail, but she was seldom given lead roles, most often playing second lead, perhaps due to her youthful inexperience as an actress. She was a charming, much-loved screen personality, but by 1932 MGM seemed to lose interest in her career despite impressive work in such films as Night Court (1932) and Skyscraper Souls (1932), and before the year was out her contract was not renewed. She slipped off into "B" stardom in films at Columbia, Universal, and even more minor studios. She retired from the screen in 1936, making a return 25 years later in The Runaway (1961) with Cesar Romero, and she lived quietly out of the limelight for over half a century. In the 1990s, the now widowed star was rediscovered by the media, which enjoyed her light-humored journeys down memory lane about her career, MGM, the silent and early talkie eras, and the stars she knew, earning the actress a devoted cult of young fans and a few brief appearances in ultra-low-budget films of the 1990s.- Producer

U.S. President Barack Hussein Obama II was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. His mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, was a white American from Wichita, Kansas. His father, Barack Obama Sr., who was black, was from Alego, Kenya. They were both young college students at the University of Hawaii. When his father left for Harvard, his mother and Barack stayed behind, and his father ultimately returned alone to Kenya, where he worked as a government economist. Barack's mother remarried an Indonesian oil manager and moved to Jakarta when Barack was six. He later recounted Indonesia as simultaneously lush and a harrowing exposure to tropical poverty. He returned to Hawaii, where he was brought up largely by his grandparents. The family lived in a small apartment - his grandfather was a furniture salesman and an unsuccessful insurance agent and his grandmother worked in a bank - but Barack managed to get into Punahou School, Hawaii's top prep academy. His father wrote to him regularly but, though he traveled around the world on official business for Kenya, he visited only once, when Barack was ten. Obama attended Columbia University, but found New York's racial tension inescapable. He became a community organizer for a small Chicago church-based group for three years, helping poor South Side residents cope with a wave of plant closings. He then attended Harvard Law School, and in 1990 became the first African-American editor of the Harvard Law Review. He turned down a prestigious judicial clerkship, choosing instead to practice civil-rights law back in Chicago, representing victims of housing and employment discrimination and working on voting-rights legislation. He also began teaching at the University of Chicago Law School, and married Michelle Robinson (now Michelle Obama, a fellow attorney; their daughters are Sasha Obama and Malia Obama. Eventually, he was elected to the Illinois state senate, where his district included both Hyde Park and some of the poorest ghettos on the South Side. In 2004, Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate as a Democrat, representing Illinois, and he gained national attention by giving a rousing and well-received keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention in Boston. In 2008 he ran for President, and despite having only four years of national political experience, he won. In January 2009, he was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States, and the first African-American ever elected to that position. Obama was re-elected to a second term in November 2012 - and was sworn in in January 2013. His presidential term ended in January 2017- Director

Daniel Boyd Payne was born in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; however, he and his family were fortunate to have moved a great deal while growing up. The moves included towns and cities of all shapes and sizes. The travel afforded Dan and his siblings, brother Josh and sister Cathy, to become best of friends. This provided Dan with a sense of resourcefulness and independence that he is proud of to this day. It also helped him discover humor as a great tool to adapt to new surroundings.
Dan is a man of great stature and presence standing 6' 4" and weighing nearly 230 pounds. Despite being built for sports, education has always ranked highly for Dan who was an excellent student. He earned Honor Roll in Matriculation throughout high school years and was awarded scholarships to universities across Canada. Eventually settling at the University of Calgary, Dan embarked on his first career path as an athlete, playing volleyball for the U of C Dinosaurs. Sport at this level enabled him to travel Canada extensively and nurture a love for his country; as well as get bitten by the travel bug. The volleyball career was very successful and came to an end with a stint as a professional in Holland. During his years at university, Dan says he truly learned the most about himself and found great satisfaction dealing with people including coaching volleyball camps for special needs children.
Dan then moved from Holland to Australia for 4 years to join his brother Josh, whom he considers his 'life mentor'. Australia is where he became a professional photographer and reawakened his love of the creative arts. Photography quickly became an excellent 'side job' while he and his brother actively began pursuing his own path to their childhood dream of acting. This path actually began with stand up comedy and performing in shows co-written and co-directed by him and his brother! Inspired by his entrepreneurial-minded brother and ever-growing love of all things creative, Dan chose to take the next step. He chose to venture to London, England while his brother remained in Oz.
The UK marked the start of the traditional agent and audition trail for Dan and the beginning of the tremendous learning process involved with the entertainment industry. While in London, Dan continued to study acting as well as perform on stage and in film. David Raksin's father Isidore, who both conducted and owned a music store, taught his son to play piano as well as woodwind instruments at an early age. He eventually studied music with Arnold Schönberg, but became by-and-large a self-taught multi-instrumentalist (organ and percussion), as well as composer and arranger for radio and for his own jazz/dance combo which he led at the age of 12 ! In between classes at the University of Pennsylvania, he often worked gigs and jam sessions, playing clarinet. After graduation, he joined Benny Goodman for a while and then got his major break when the conductor Al Goodman bought his arrangement for 'I Got Rhythm'. Goodman pianist and famous wit, Oscar Levant, was impressed and recommended David to his lifelong friend George Gershwin, who in turn helped him to get a job with the publishing company Harms/Chappell.
At the behest of Alfred Newman, who was in charge of the 20th Century Fox music department, David was invited to Hollywood in 1935. His first assignment was as arranger (in conjunction with Edward B. Powell) of the musical score for the Charles Chaplin film Modern Times (1936), but the collaboration with the famous comedian was not an entirely happy experience. At one stage, David was fired after making a stand on improvements to the score, which Chaplin did not appreciate. He was reinstated only due to Alfred Newman's intercession but, ultimately, never received due credit for his input. Many of his other early Hollywood orchestrations suffered a similar fate. For several years, David worked on a variety of second features, often horror films, but occasionally broke out of the mold, as with the 'Polka Dot Ballet' written for The Gang's All Here (1943). The big career-changing breakthrough happened in 1944, when both Alfred Newman and Bernard Herrmann refused to score the Otto Preminger movie Laura (1944). Newman was already overloaded with assignments, and, in any case, rumours persisted at the studio, that this was the type of film unlikely to enhance a composer's reputation. Johnny Mercer and David Raksin eventually landed the job, the former writing the lyrics and David composing the score with the central theme being the romantic ballad 'Laura'.
This evocative, wonderfully haunting piece of music has since become one of the most often recorded in history and the only song Cole Porter admitted to being jealous of not having composed himself. It was also one of Frank Sinatra's personal favorites. However, the 'Laura' theme might have been stillborn if Preminger had gone with Gershwin's 'Summertime' or Duke Ellington's 'Sophisticated Lady', as he had intended to do at first. David stood his ground with the director (as he had previously with Chaplin and would later do with Alfred Hitchcock), arguing that these pieces were unsuitable for the film because "of the accretion of ideas and associations that a song already so well known would evoke in the audience". While he would always have his fair share of detractors, who thought his music too complex or too avant-garde, David Raksin was now on his way to becoming a significant film composer in Hollywood. His next memorable achievements were the score for the lavish costume drama Forever Amber (1947), with yet another haunting melodic leitmotif; the off-beat, almost expressionistic Force of Evil (1948), particularly the finale; the stirring theme for the all-star movie The Bad and the Beautiful (1952). Later noteworthy efforts included Carrie (1952), Separate Tables (1958) and Two Weeks in Another Town (1962).
What set David Raksin apart from other film composers was his unmitigated willingness to experiment, to be creatively different. In so doing, he enhanced the impact of, and, in the long run, the reputation of many a motion picture. David also composed for the small screen (for instance, the theme for Ben Casey (1961)) and for the stage ('Volpone', 'Mother Courage', 'The Prodigal'). When not writing music or conducting, he lectured in music theory and technique at the University of Southern California and at UCLA (1958-2003). He served eight terms as president of the Composers & Lyricists Guild of America. He was awarded the Golden Soundtrack Award in 1992 by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.- Producer

Georgina Hale was an accomplished stage actress who made many memorable forays in cinema, most notably in the films of Ken Russell, especially her performance as Alma Mahler, in a wonderful and visually rich biopic on composer Mahler (1974) which she won a BAFTA (British Academy Award) for. Two other standout performances were in Russell's notorious The Devils (1971) and the Twiggy musical "The Boyfriend" in which she played Fay, camping it up, in a backstage lesbian sub plot. She made in-joke cameos in two further Russell films: Lisztomania (1975) and Valentino (1977).
Unfortunately, roles dwindled after her BAFTA win, for some reason, and she made some bad movie choices such as The World Is Full of Married Men (1979) (the film version of Jackie Collins)'s novel of the same name) and McVicar (1980), as well as the occasional stunner such as Butley (1974), written by playwright Simon Gray.
She appeared in many of Gray's stage plays (many were filmed for British television with her in starring roles) and she continued to work in British theatre. She made many guest appearances in UK television series including: Upstairs, Downstairs (1971), The Protectors (1972), Lady Killers (1980), Minder (1979), Boon (1986), One Foot in the Grave (1990), Murder Most Horrid (1991), The Vicar of Dibley (1994), three episodes of Doctor Who (1963) and many many others. She starred in two television series: Budgie (1971) (a successful series in the 1970s) and, in the early 1990s, a cult children's series based around a witch-like figure called "T. Bag".
Most recently, she had appeared in a comic role in Preaching to the Perverted (1997) in which her character pointed out that sometimes one has to debase one's self to further one's career. This film may not further her career (at age 55, she did a Sharon Stone under-table leg trick) but it added to her growing reputation as one of the UK's favorite cult actresses.- Director

Talented singer and wonderful serious and comic actor. Gidi's father died when he was very young, which made his mother move from place to place, so he lived in different places in Israel. He wanted to go into a combat unit in the Israeli army but because of his asthma he eventually got into the Israeli army singing troupe where he did a lot of memoribal prefomances with many other famous to be Israeli actors and singers. Gidi eventually formed a band with famous Israeli musicians such as Dani Sanderson, Efraim Shamir andand Yoni Rechter. The band was called "Kaveret" (meaning "beehive" in Hebrew) and became one of the most popular Israeli bands in the 1970's. Later he formed a band called "Gazoz" (meaning "soft drink" in Hebrew) which only lasted two albums, but which was a very popular and remembered one. Later Gidi joined the "Zehu Zeh" (meaning "that's it" in Hebrew) group, which included Monny Moshonov and Shlomo Bar-Abba. In 1994 he left "Zehu Zeh" (Though kept in good contact with his fellow "Zehu Zeh"ians) for his own host show called "Lilah Gov". In 1995 the TV broadcasters wanted to take "Lilah Gov" off the air, but had to cancel that Idea, due to several thousand autographs of protesting fans. One notable film Gidi was in was "The Troupe" (1977), where he portrayed a soldier in the Israeli army singing Troupe. It was more of a biography of the life of an Israeli soldier in the Israeli army singing troupe.- Guillermo Enrique Hudson is known for Allá lejos y hace tiempo (1969), Allá lejos y hace tiempo (1978) and The London Sparrow.

Jeff Gordon was born in 1971 in Vallejo, California, just miles away from the Speedway in Sonoma. He started racing with Go-Carts and Sprint Cars and worked his way up to the NASCAR's Busch Series and then landed a few races in 1992. Gordon's first NASCAR race came when NASCAR Legend Richard Petty was going through his last. Gordon learned quickly and won his first NASCAR Championship in 1995, barely beating out Dale Earnhardt in the Points Standings. Since his Debut in 1992, Gordon has won 3 NASCAR Championships and 55 Races, clearly shooting past Lee Petty and Rusty Wallace in the All-Time Wins Category. Jeff Gordon is seen as one of NASCAR's best and brightest young stars.
In 2005, Gordon suffered his worst season since his rookie year in 1993. Gordon missed out for the Chase for the Nextel Cup, and finishes 11th in points, and finishing outside the top 10 in points since he finished 14th in his rookie year of 1993. Jeff did win 4 races this year. Those races were Daytona, Martinsville, Talladega, and the other Martinsville race. No one saw Gordon's bad season coming, after winning his 3rd Daytona 500, and winning 3 of the first 9 races of the season. After the 3rd win at Talladega, he went 16 races without a top 5 finish, a very uncharacteristic Gordon. Gordon had a crew chief swap when the 10 race Chase began, when Robbie Loomis left the team, and 26 year old Steve Letarte took over. Jeff did manage to get back on track somewhat, and won at Martinsville later in the year, and finished 2nd, 14th, and 9th in the 3 last 3 races following the long overdue visit to victory lane. Jeff at the end of 2005 has a total of 70 career wins.In 2004, Jeff Gordon finished 3rd place in NASCAR Nextel Cup points, behind Kurt Busch, and teammate Jimmie Johnson. Jeff racked up 5 wins that season, bringing his career total to 66. Those 5 wins were at Talladega, California, Martinsville, Daytona, and the other Martinsvile race. In 2003, he became the first driver in Winston Cup history to host Saturday Night Live.
At the end of the 2002 racing season, Jeff ended up in 4th place in the NASCAR Winston Cup points standings. In 2002, Jeff and teammate Jimmie Johnson competed and won in the Race of Champions in Grand Canaria, Spain. In 2001, he became the first driver to win at Kansas Speedway and he won it again in 2002 becoming the only driver to win at Kansas. At the end of the 2002 racing season, Jeff has racked up 61 Winston Cup races. His 3 wins in 2002 were at Bristol, Darlington, and Kansas. He also had 3 poles. As of 2003, Jeff continues to co-own the # 48 race team of Jimmie Johnson. Has won 4 Winston Cup Championships: 1995, 1997, 1998, and 2001 becoming the youngest driver to win than many. With his first championship in 1995, Jeff became the youngest driver at the age of 24 to win a Winston Cup title.
In 1998, he tied a record by winning 13 races in a same season and by winning 4 races in a row. Won 2 Daytona 500s in 1997 and 1999. Became the youngest driver to win the Daytona 500. Won 3 Brickyard 400s including the inaugural one in 1994 and his second one in 1998 and his 3rd one in 2001 making him the first driver to win it more than twice.- Actress

His full name was Joseph Alexander Caesar Herstall Vincent Calleja - but he was better known as Joseph or Joe Calleia, one of Hollywood's most recognized bad guys. But Calleia's roots and talents ran much deeper than character actor. He was Maltese, born on that barren but historically important island of Malta between Italy and Africa in the Mediterranean. The Maltese culture was a crossroads of peoples (partially Arabic) but as intrepid fisherman, navigators, and warriors-as they proved to the 16th century Turks - it was a proud one. But it could not hold Calleia, who, blessed with a good singing voice and a talent for composing, joined a harmonica band that left for the Continent in 1914. This was a Europe feeling the initial blows of World War I, and Calleia's band toured the length and breadth of it in music halls and cafes. He went to Paris and eventually came to London to perform some concert singing engagements. And from there the lure of the New World brought him to New York by 1926.
It was a natural enough transition for a talented singing performer to acting. Calleia did his first play on Broadway in an original drama suitably called "Broadway" for a long run from late 1926 early 1928. This was the first of seven plays he did into early 1935. He took a double role as actor and stage manager for the 1930-31 run of "Grand Hotel". He received good reviews (once called him a "bright light" on Broadway) and later recalled that his treading the boards were his best years as an actor. By 1931 he had yet another course to steer. Hollywood had noticed him, for his constrained intensity as an actor was matched by a singular visage - heavy-lidded eyes and dark features that gave him a disquieting and menacing appearance. Yet the sometime telltale lilt in his voice betrayed the fine singer. He had just enough accent to make him Latin or Greek or Middle Eastern - or indigenous sorts. Of course, his look meant early heavy roles as he went under contract to MGM, doing his first two films in that year of 1931.
By 1935 his looks landed him the role of Sonny Black, a mob boss with many facets, and with a characteristic clenched-teeth delivery, Calleia acquitted himself in fine fashion. Through the 1930s he was pretty much typed-cast as a mobster-with variations. Always with the lean and hungry look, he was a club owner in After the Thin Man (1936) and played a government cop in the atmospheric Algiers (1938). He even had time to help write a screenplay for the film Robin Hood of El Dorado (1936) with veteran Warner Baxter. Calleia ended the decade with roles at opposite ends of the character acting spectrum-somewhat center stage as a priest in the sometimes heavy-handed Full Confession (1939) and most memorable as Vasquez, the brought-to-justice criminal on the ill-fated DC-3 that crash lands in headhunter-infested Amazon highlands in Five Came Back (1939). This is a classic adventure drama -- remade with Rod Steiger -- with a great supporting cast that included everyone's favorite wisecracking redhead, Lucille Ball.
Into the 1940s, Calleia was cast in more ethnic roles - particularly as Hispanics of various sorts. But his roles were memorable nonetheless, as El Sordo in For Whom the Bell Tolls (1943) and Rodriguez in The Cross of Lorraine (1943). But two roles stand out. His Buldeo in the Alexander Korda classic production of The Jungle Book (1942) was a personal favorite, a double role, as trouble-making villager and the selfsame man now old and wise telling the story to the village children as narrator. The makeup is so good-and Calleia enjoyed character makeup-that most viewers are surprised when the old man reveals his identity. More mainstream Hollywood was his intriguing role as Detective Obregon in Gilda (1946). He's the good guy-right? - but he comes off so sly with his sidelong looks and the way he bates the principals - Glenn Ford and Rita Hayworth - that you just don't know. In the end he has the task, like the chorus in a Shakespearean play, to explain and summarize-perhaps not the best means of getting to the point - but that was the director's choice. His secondary parts receded a bit into the later 1940s and further into the 1950s with Calleia typed to retrace former roles but giving them new nuance just the same. He has little more than a cameo as Indian chief Cuyloga-Native American chiefs being the lot of no few elder actors in 1950s Hollywood - in the otherwise worthwhile Disney adaptation of The Light in the Forest (1958). Calleia ventured into the TV briefly about that time.
But also from that year was another of his favorite roles. Without doubt Touch of Evil (1958) is one of the strangest of Orson Welles later efforts as director/star. It borders on the uneven but is so off-the-wall that one cannot help watching and thoroughly enjoying all the antics of Welles still brilliant film techniques: shadow and light, wild camera angles, gringos playing Mexicans-Charlton Heston is a wow and stained darker than necessary-and over-the-top performances with veteran dramatis personae like Marlene Dietrich, Akim Tamiroff, Calleia, of course, and Welles himself looking like a police captain from skid row and using that funny character voice of his that pops up in his films as an aside. Calleia, with white hair, is tired old cop Sergeant Menzies, long associate of Welles' seedy character. Doing what he has always done, covering up and running interference, in the end Menzies has to face the truth about his crooked captain. Calleia enjoyed the role as going so against his usual type - showing a man harried by his past and haunted by dirty secrets - vulnerable - and very human. It's a great part.
By 1963 Calleia walked away - or, that is - sailed away from Hollywood. He returned to his native Malta for a well deserved retirement. The Maltese had followed the career of their native son, and he had made several visits during his film career. Not surprisingly his biggest fan club was right at home. He was a kind and generous man and very appreciative of his fans wherever they were - quick to read all their letters and quick to send autographed pictures. It was strictly tongue-in-cheek when he supposedly quipped: "Everyone recognizes my face, but no one knows my name." After his passing, the government of the island state of Malta issued two commemorative stamps (1997) to honor him. A bust was erected before the house in which he was born as a further memorial to this Maltese VIP who had made good.- Actor

Jang Keun Suk was born in Danyang County, Chungcheongbuk Province, South Korea. He was born on the 4th day of the 8th month of the Lunar Calendar in 1987 (the year of the rabbit), making his Gregorian calendar birth date 26 September 1987. He is an only child.
At the age of five, he was discovered by a talent agent who advised his parents to allow him to try modeling. He began as a catalog model and through the years has represented various companies: Coca-Cola, Daewoo, Kellogg's, Samsung YEPP, and SK Telecom to name but a few.
In 1997, Jang Keun Suk made his acting debut when he appeared on the HBS sitcom "Selling Happiness." He was then cast in the 1998 drama "Hug." In 2001, he was cast in the SBS drama "Ladies of the Palace" and in the MBC drama "The Story of Four Sisters." In 2002, he appeared in SBS's The Great Ambition (2002), "High School Season 3," "Orange" and the short film "Lucky Ten."
While in middle school, Jang was greatly inspired by the Japanese pop singer Ken Hirai and the Japanese rock band 'L'Arc-en-Ciel', and decided to pursue his career as a singer. He joined a music class and began to teach himself Japanese. Jang then moved to New Zealand to attend Nelson College to formally learn both Japanese and English. He returned to South Korea in 2003 for a role in the popular MBC sitcom "Nonstop 4." The success and popularity of the previous three seasons was an extra burden on Jang to perform. He began to believe he was a terrible actor and his confidence hit rock bottom. At this point, he devoted himself to becoming a better actor.
Between the years of 2003 to 2009, Jang would take part in 26 different projects. He portrayed an orphaned boy living with his grandfather in the 2003 short film "The Owl Museum" as well as voicing the character of "Jim Hawkins" in Disney's 2003 Korean dubbed version of Treasure Planet (2002). From there he did musical theatre with "Theseus" [2004] and "Hercules" [2005]. His 2005 portrayal of the president's son in the Korean drama Lovers in Prague (2005) became a hit and he made it to the cinema screen in the Japanese horror film One Missed Call 3: Final (2006). Because he was fluent in Japanese, communicating with co-workers and directors was no problem. He was cast in the role of a young deaf man and studied sign language for three months prior to filming. His next role was back on the small screen with the historical drama Hwang Jin Yi (2006). Jang's performance gained the attention of many female fans, and his popularity began to rise. He also appeared in the 2006 Tooniverse comedy series Alien Sam (2006) as "Alexander/Bong Sam", an alien prince that becomes a teacher after his ship crashes on Earth.
The following year, 2007, Jang would co-host the SBS weekly live music show "Inkigayo" with Kim Heechul and host variety program "X-Boyfriend." It was at this time he was cast in the rock music-themed film The Happy Life (2007). His portrayal of Hyun-Joon allowed him to show off his masculine charms, as well as display his skills as a singer.
2008 would turn out to be a busy year for the actor. He was cast as Park Won Jae in the feature film Kidarida michyeo (2008), and in the role of Lee Chang Hwi in the KBS historical drama Hong Gil Dong, the Hero (2008). He would go on to appear in two more feature films, Do Re Mi Fa So La Si Do (2008) and Baby and I (2008), take on another voice acting role as the lead in the animated film "Niko and the Way to the Stars," the Korean dubbed version of The Flight Before Christmas (2008), as well as the MBC drama Betoben baireoseu (2008) before the year was over.
In 2009, Jang landed the role of Robert J. Pearson, a Korean-American accused of murder, in Where the Truth Lies (2009). Jang spoke English for 99% of the film and was praised by Beyond Hollywood for having performed very well. Later that year, in You Are Beautiful (2009), he played the role of Hwang Tae Kyung, leader of rock band A.N.Jell, who falls in love with a female band member played by Park Shin-hye masquerading as a man on behalf of her brother. The show, which also starred Hong-ki Lee and Jung Yong-hwa, quickly thrust Jang into the limelight and became a hit in other Asian countries as well. His prickly character became the object of millions of fans' fantasies.
Jang starred opposite Moon Geun-young in the popular 2010 romantic comedy series Mary Stayed Out All Night (2010), as indie rock musician Kang Moo Kyul. In 2011 he took the lead role and participated in writing the screenplay and choosing filming locations for the direct to DVD short film "Budapest Diary." He also co-starred in You're My Pet (2011) with Kim Ha-neul, a film about a younger man becoming the "pet" of a career woman.
In 2012 Jang took on dual roles in KBS2's melodrama series Love Rain (2012) opposite Im Yoon-ah. He then starred in KBS2's 2013 drama Pretty Boy (2013), another drama based on a Japanese manga, opposite IU and Lee Jang-woo. The son of Swedish actress Viveca Lindfors and American director Don Siegel, actor Kristoffer Tabori was born in the wealthy area of Malibu on August 4, 1952, and appeared in one of his mother's films Weddings and Babies (1958) as a youngster. His parents divorced when he was barely a year old and his mother subsequently married Hungarian writer/director George Tabori. Kristoffer would use the name "Tabori" for his own.
Kristoffer started making the theater rounds in the late 60s, taking his first official stage bow with "The Merchant of Venice" at the Berkshire Theatre Festival in 1966. In 1968, the teenager appeared off-Broadway with his mother at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in the Bertolt Brecht play 'The Guns of Carrar," which was translated by stepfather George. After a role in "A Cry of Players" that same year, he made his 1969 Broadway debut in "The Penny Wars" and followed this immediately with a part in "Henry V" starring Len Cariou. Earlier in 1970, Kristoffer was presented with the Theatre World Award for his excellent work in "How Much, How Much?"
Tabori's stage success led to progressive strides in '70s film wherein he became a product of his generation playing lean. long-haired hippies and liberal thinker types. In unbilled movie bits as a late teen (including a flower child in the musical Sweet Charity (1969)), the nascent actor also made an unbilled appearance in his father's cop action drama Coogan's Bluff (1968), one of several projects that had Don Siegel directing Clint Eastwood.
Kristoffer earned strong reviews for his very first film lead in Making It (1971) as a sex-obsessed 17-year-old who suffers a heavy, traumatic experience with his mother, played by Joyce Van Patten. While this opened doors for major roles in such offbeat films as The Sidelong Glances of a Pigeon Kicker (1970) and Journey Through Rosebud (1972), it did not pave the way to movie stardom. He started impressing on the smaller screen instead with quality TV-movies including A Memory of Two Mondays (1971), The Glass House (1972), QB VII (1974), The Lady's Not for Burning (1974), Seventh Avenue (1977), Rappaccini's Daughter (1980), London Embassy (1987), The Hound of the Baskervilles (1988) and Marilyn & Bobby: Her Final Affair (1993).
Kristoffer also racked up dozens of guest appearances on such popular TV programs as "Medical Center," "Marcus Welby," "Owen Marshall," "Cannon," "The Rookies," "Baretta," "The Rockford Files," "Trapper John," "The Facts of Life," "The (New) Twilight Zone," "21 Jump Street," "Designing Women," "Quantum Leap," "Jake and the Fatman," "Matlock" and "Murder, She Wrote." He also played a regular part as a doctor on the dramatic series Chicago Story (1982).
In the mid 1970s and into the next decade, Kristoffer turned more and more to the stage, joining, at various times, the Arena Stage theater company in Washington, D.C., Southern California's South Coast Repertory and appearing at the National Shakespeare Festival. He embellished his impressive theatre resumé with roles in "Dream of a Blacklisted Actor," "Hamlet" (title role), "Habeas Corpus" (a replacement on Broadway), "Romeo and Juliet," "Henry IV, Part I," "The Wager," "Scribes," "St. Joan," "The Trouble with Europe," "Measure for Measure" and "Boy Meets Girl." In 1980, he appeared on stage with his mother in "An Evening with Viveca Lindfors and Kristoffer Tabori."
In the 1990s, Tabori focused on directing, predominantly on TV, helming episodes for such series as "Picket Fences," "Chicago Hope," "Providence" and "Judging Amy." Shortly before his mother's death in 1995, he appeared as her son in the film Last Summer in the Hamptons (1995). Kristofffer has also lent his crisp voice to scores of video games that focused on the "Battlestar Galactica" and "Star Wars" target area.
Kristoffer married British actress Judy Geeson in 1984, appearing on stage together in "The Common Pursuit" (1986) before divorcing in 1989.- Kym Johnson Herjavec was born on 4 August 1976 in Sydney, Australia. Rachel Meghan Markle is an US-born member of the British royal family and a former film and television actress.
Meghan Markle was born on August 4, 1981 and raised in Los Angeles, California, and is of mixed-race heritage. During her studies at Northwestern University, she began to play small roles in television series and films. From 2011 to 2017, she played her best-known role, Rachel Zane, on the legal drama series Suits. As an outspoken feminist, Markle has addressed issues of gender inequality, and her lifestyle website, The Tig, featured a column profiling influential women. Her humanitarian work in the 2010s saw her represent international charity organizations. She has also received recognition for her fashion and style, releasing a clothing line in 2016.
From 2011 until their 2014 divorce, Markle was married to actor and producer Trevor Engelson. In 2017, she announced her engagement to Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, and moved to London. She consequently retired from acting, closed her social-media accounts, and started undertaking public engagements on behalf of the British royal family. Following their wedding on May 19, 2018, Markle received the title of Duchess of Sussex. After her and Harry's departure as working members of the Royal family, they no longer use their HRH titles in a professional capacity.
Rachel Meghan Markle was born on August 4, 1981, in Los Angeles, California, at West Park Hospital in Canoga Park. Her mother, Doria Loyce (Ragland), a social worker and yoga instructor, is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and lives in View Park Windsor Hills, California. Markle has often described a very close friendship with her mother. Her father, Thomas Wayne Markle, who lives in Rosarito, Mexico, is a retired Emmy Award winning television director of photography and lighting director, whose profession resulted in his young daughter often visiting the set of "Married...with Children." Markle's parents divorced when she was six years old. She has two older paternal half-siblings, Thomas Markle Jr. and Samantha Markle, from whom she is reportedly estranged.
Describing her heritage in a 2015 essay for Elle, Markle states that her "dad is Caucasian and my mom is African American. I'm half black and half white ... While my mixed heritage may have created a gray area surrounding my self identification, keeping me with a foot on both sides of the fence, I have come to embrace that. To say who I am, to share where I'm from, to voice my pride in being a strong, confident mixed race woman." Her father's roots include German, English, Irish, and Scottish. Her mother has family lines in Tennessee and Georgia.
Markle grew up in Hollywood. She was educated at private schools, beginning at age two at Hollywood Little Red Schoolhouse. Markle attended Immaculate Heart High School, a girls' Catholic private school in Los Angeles, but was raised as a Protestant. She then attended Northwestern University, where she joined Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, and participated in community service and charity projects. While at Northwestern, her uncle obtained an internship for her at the American embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Markle studied for a semester in Madrid, Spain. Markle graduated from Northwestern's School of Communication in 2003 with a bachelor's degree and a double major in theater and international studies.
Markle worked as a freelance calligrapher to support herself between early acting jobs. Her first onscreen appearance was a small role as a nurse in an episode of the daytime soap opera General Hospital (1963), where her father was lighting director. Early in her career, Markle had small guest roles on the television shows Century City (2004), The War at Home (2005), and CSI: NY (2004). She also took on several contract acting and modeling jobs, including a stint as a "briefcase girl" on the US game show Deal or No Deal (2005). She appeared in Fox's series Fringe (2008) as Junior Agent Amy Jessup in the first two episodes of its second season. Markle had some difficulty getting roles early in her career. In 2015, she wrote: "Being 'ethnically ambiguous', as I was pegged in the industry, meant I could audition for virtually any role. Sadly, it didn't matter: I wasn't black enough for the black roles and I wasn't white enough for the white ones, leaving me somewhere in the middle as the ethnic chameleon who couldn't book a job."
In July 2011, Markle joined the cast of the USA Network show Suits (2011), playing Rachel Zane. The character began as a paralegal and eventually became an attorney. She completed work on the seventh season in late 2017. According to a critique in The Irish Times, Markle deftly and actively re-positioned her character from ingenue to moral conscience and gave viewers the unique portrayal of a daughter, whose African American father is in a position to help her career and advance her strong desire to break several racial and gender "glass ceilings". She appeared in two 2010 films, Get Him to the Greek (2010) and Remember Me (2010), and one 2011 film, Horrible Bosses (2011). She also appeared in episodes of Cuts (2005); Love, Inc. (2005); 90210 (2008); Knight Rider (2008); Without a Trace (2002); The League (2009); and Castle (2009).
From 2014 to 2017, Markle was founder and editor in chief of lifestyle website The Tig. She derived the name from Tignanello red wine. One of The Tig's features was Tig Talk, a column that profiled women including Jessica Alba, Gail Simmons, Ella Woodward, Daphne Oz, Elizabeth Hurley, Lauren Bush Lauren, Ivanka Trump, Dianna Agron, and Jessica Stam. In April 2017, she closed The Tig. Markle developed an adept and polished social media presence at the time of its closing, her Instagram account had 1.9 million followers. In January 2018, Markle deleted her social media accounts and, in a statement issued by Kensington Palace, thanked "everyone who has followed her social media accounts over the years".
Since her marriage with Prince Harry of Wales, the Duke of Sussex, Markle is known as HRH Meghan Duchess of Sussex, Countess of Dumbarton and Baroness Kilkeel.- Actress
