Alan Merrill was the singer and songwriter of the original version of the 1975 Arrows version of the classic song "I love rock n roll." The song has since been covered by Joan Jett and Britney Spears. Alan Merrill started his career as a foreign domestic pop-star in the Japanese market, and was based in Tokyo. He was the first foreign artist to break into the Japan rock scene successfully, having hit records both solo, and with his bands Vodka Collins, and The Lead. He worked in Japan from 1968 until 1973, when he left Tokyo to try for a shot at stardom in the UK. He formed a hit band (The Arrows) in England and was in the BBC top ten charts within six months of arriving there. Alan Merrill's band The Arrows had a popular weekly television series in the UK, 1976-77 on the Granada-ITV network. He also had several hit singles with the band and was the lead singer. Merrill has written songs for artists such as Lou Rawls, Rick Derringer, Freddie Scott, Joan Jett, Britney Spears, Runner, 5ive, and of course, The Arrows. The acting came about when Merrill was asked to write a theme song for the pilot film of Encyclopedia Brown, which he did. A song called "Who Done It?". The producer was so impressed with him that he asked Merrill to act in the pilot feature length film "Encycopedia Brown (Case of the missing time capsule)" and he agreed. The pilot aired on HBO almost 200 times, and was a success, launching the series. The People magazine review said that Merrill was one of the best actors in the production. Alan Merrill continued to make fun, energetic rock 'n roll records.- Writer

For one tough cookie who achieved major cult stardom with her hard-bitten blonde looks and "Perfect Vixen" tag, Ann Savage in real life was a lovely, spirited, gentle-looking lady. She may have peaked only briefly in 1940s Hollywood low-budgeters, but she made the most of it during that fairly short tenure. Out of the dozens of movies under her belt, one film part shot her to femme fatale infamy and, to this day, remains her biggest claim to fame. It took only four (some accounts say six) days to shoot, but Detour (1945) stands out as one of the best examples of surreal film noir, and the unforgettable dialogue and riveting teaming of Ann and sulky co-star Tom Neal are the primary reasons for its enduring fame.
An only child, Ann was born Bernice Maxine Lyon in Columbia, South Carolina, on February 19, 1921. Her father was a US Army officer and the family traveled with him to his various duty stations, including Dallas and New Orleans, until settling in Jacksonville, Florida. He died when she was only four years old. Ann's mother, a jewelry buyer, took the two of them to Los Angeles before Ann was 10 years old. Appearing in local theater productions, the young girl trained at Max Reinhardt's acting school. The school's manager happened to be Bert D'Armand, who later became her agent. They married in 1945.
She changed her name to "Ann Savage" before even stepping onto a sound stage and it was a workshop production of "Golden Boy" that led to her initially signing up at Columbia Pictures. The first glimpse of Ann came as an extra in MGM's The Great Waltz (1938) and she gradually earned on-camera experience in unbilled parts in such war-era movies as The More the Merrier (1943) and Murder in Times Square (1943). She rose to featured and co-star status in such lightweight Columbia films as Two Señoritas from Chicago (1943), Footlight Glamour (1943) and Saddles and Sagebrush (1943).
Although Ann played devilish dames in The Unwritten Code (1944), Apology for Murder (1945) and The Last Crooked Mile (1946), it was venomous Vera, the blackmailing, tough-talking, cigarette-dangling, good-for-nothing who bullies hapless wanna-be tough-guy musician (Tom Neal) into her schemes in Detour (1945) that truly summed up her "bad girl" charisma. At the inducement of Columbia Pictures honcho Harry Cohn, Savage and Neal made four films together (the last being "Detour"). The other three were Klondike Kate (1943), Two-Man Submarine (1944) and The Unwritten Code (1944) (the two would reunite years later in a 1955 TV episode of the series Gang Busters (1952)).
Ann was one of the more popular WWII pinups. After appearing in a photo layout in "Esquire" magazine in 1944 that was shot by renowned studio photographer George Hurrell Sr., she became a favorite with the troops, making numerous personal appearance tours at various military bases in order to raise war bonds. Freelancing after leaving Columbia, Ann appeared in a host of other second-string pictures, including You Can't Do Without Love (1944), The Spider (1945), The Dark Horse (1946), Renegade Girl (1946), Jungle Flight (1947), Satan's Cradle (1949), Pygmy Island (1950) and Woman They Almost Lynched (1953), which would be her last film for over three decades. While she certainly demonstrated talent and range, she was unable to rise out of the "B" mold. This led her to look at TV for a time in the 1950s as a possible medium, guesting on such shows as The Ford Television Theatre (1952), City Detective (1953), Schlitz Playhouse (1951), Death Valley Days (1952) and Fireside Theatre (1949).
Ann semi-retired in the late 1950s and moved from Hollywood to Manhattan with husband Bert, who by now had traded his agent business for the financing and professional trading world. She occasionally appeared on local TV and in industrial films. The couple traveled extensively until his sudden death in 1969. A grief-stricken Ann returned to Hollywood to be near her mother, sharpened her legal secretarial skills by working as a docket clerk with Bert's attorneys in Los Angeles (Loeb & Loeb) and became an avid speed-rated pilot in her spare hours.
Elsewhere the veteran actress continued to delight her fans with her appearances at "film noir" festivals, nostalgia conventions and special screenings of her work. Refusing to appear in exploitative material, Ann turned down much work. In later years she appeared very sporadically--in the movie Fire with Fire (1986) and an episode of Saved by the Bell (1989). Out of nowhere the resilient octogenarian was cast by Canadian director Guy Maddin, a film noir fan, to play a shrewish mother in the highly acclaimed My Winnipeg (2007), earning "bad girl" raves all over again.
Named an "icon and legend" by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2005, Ann was applauded for her body of work by "Time" Magazine twice in 2007. She died at a Hollywood nursing home at age 87 on Christmas Day in 2008 from complications of multiple strokes.- Aree Davis was born on 19 February 1991 in the USA. She is an actress, known for The Haunted Mansion (2003), Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue (2000) and The Bernie Mac Show (2001).

Benicio Del Toro emerged in the mid-1990s as one of the most watchable and charismatic character actors to come along in years. A favorite of film buffs, Del Toro gained mainstream public attention as the conflicted but basically honest Mexican policeman in Steven Soderbergh's Traffic (2000).
Benicio was born on February 19, 1967 in San Germán, Puerto Rico, the son of lawyer parents Fausta Genoveva Sanchez Rivera and Gustavo Adolfo Del Toro Bermudez. His mother died when he was young, and his father moved the family to a farm in Pennsylvania. A basketball player with an interest in acting, he decided to follow the family way and study business at the University of California in San Diego. A class in acting resulted in his being bitten by the acting bug, and he subsequently dropped out and began studying with legendary acting teacher Stella Adler in Los Angeles and at the Circle in the Square Acting School in New York City. Telling his parents that he was taking courses in business, Del Toro hid his new studies from his family for a little while.
During the late 1980s, he made several television appearances, most notably in an episode of Miami Vice (1984) and in the NBC miniseries Drug Wars: The Camarena Story (1990). Del Toro's big-screen career got off to a slower start, however--his first role was Duke the Dog-Faced Boy in Big Top Pee-wee (1988). However, things looked better when he landed the role of Dario, the vicious henchman in the James Bond film Licence to Kill (1989). Surprising his co-stars at age 21, Del Toro was the youngest actor ever to portray a Bond villain. However, the potential break was spoiled as the picture turned out to be one of the most disappointing Bond films ever; this was lost amid bigger summer competition.
Benicio gave creditable performances in many overlooked films for the next several years, such as The Indian Runner (1991), Christopher Columbus: The Discovery (1992) and Money for Nothing (1993). His roles in Fearless (1993) and China Moon (1994) gained him more critical notices, and 1995 proved to be the first "Year of Benicio" as he gave a memorable performance in Swimming with Sharks (1994) before taking critics and film buffs by storm as the mumbling, mysterious gangster in The Usual Suspects (1995), directed by Bryan Singer. Del Toro won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actor for the role in the Oscar-winning film.
Staying true to his independent roots, he next gave a charismatic turn as cold-blooded gangster Gaspare Spoglia in The Funeral (1996) directed by Abel Ferrara. He also appeared as Benny Dalmau in Basquiat (1996), directed by artist friend Julian Schnabel. That year also marked his first truly commercial film, as he played cocky Spanish baseball star Juan Primo in The Fan (1996), which starred Robert De Niro. Del Toro took his first leading man role in Excess Baggage (1997), starring and produced by Alicia Silverstone. Hand-picked by Silverstone, Del Toro's performance was pretty much the only thing critics praised about the film, and showed the level of consciousness he was beginning to have in the minds of film fans.
He took a leading role with his good friend Johnny Depp in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998), co-written and directed by the legendary Terry Gilliam. Gaining 40 pounds for the role of Dr. Gonzo, the drug-addicted lawyer to sportswriter Raoul Duke, Benicio immersed himself totally in the role. Using his method acting training so far as to burn himself with cigarettes for a scene, this was a trying time for Del Toro. The harsh critical reviews proved tough on him, as he felt he had given his all for the role and been dismissed. Many saw the crazed, psychotic performance as a confirmation of the rumors and overall weirdness that people seemed to place on Del Toro.
Taking a short break after the ordeal, 2000 proved to be the second "Year of Benicio". He first appeared in The Way of the Gun (2000), directed by friend and writer Christopher McQuarrie. Then he went to work for actor's director Steven Soderbergh in Traffic (2000). A complex and graphic film, this nonetheless became a widespread success and Oscar winner. His role as conflicted Mexican policeman Javier Rodriguez functions as the movie's real heart amid an all-star ensemble cast, and many praised this as the year's best performance, a sentiment validated by a Screen Actor's Guild Award for "Best Actor". He also gave a notable performance in Snatch (2000) directed by Guy Ritchie, which was released several weeks later, and The Pledge (2001) directed by Sean Penn. Possessing sleepy good looks reminiscent of James Dean or Marlon Brando, Del Toro has often jokingly been referred to as the "Spanish Brad Pitt".
With his newfound celebrity, Del Toro has become a sort of heartthrob, being voted one of People magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" as well as "Most Eligible Bachelors." A favorite of film fans for years for his diverse and "cool guy" gangster roles, he has become a mainstream favorite, respected for his acting skills and choices. So far very careful in his projects and who he works with, Del Toro can boast an impressive resume of films alongside some of the most influential and talented people in the film business.- Actor

She was devoted to my father and to the enormous circle of students and collaborators who were considered her chosen family. The stanza is from Seamus Heaney's poem, Clearances. He was an actor, known for Ghostbusters (1984), Ghostbusters II (1989) and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994). He was married to Carol Grant. - David (pronounced "Dah-Veed") Albert Mazouz is an actor, writer, and producer who graduated from Stanford University in 2023, where he studied Economics and Psychology. He is best known for his role as Bruce Wayne on FOX's Gotham and since the show's end, he has continued to act in theater and film, as well as produce.
David was born to a Tunisian father and a Greek mother. He has American and Spanish citizenship. His maternal grandparents were Holocaust survivors.
David began his acting career in commercials at the age of 7 after attending acting classes with his older sister. Spotted there by an agent, he began auditioning and fell in love with entertaining. He was born and raised in Los Angeles.
He landed his first film shortly after in a film directed by Edoardo Ponti. He began booking guest star roles for television, working with James Burrows and Randall Einhorn at the age of 9. He landed the role of Jake Bohm on FOX's Touch alongside Kiefer Sutherland, the only other cast member to appear in all 26 episodes. Kiefer was a kind and generous mentor for him, teaching him not only about the craft of acting but about the industry, as well. At the age of 13, he booked FOX's Gotham, where he played a young Bruce Wayne from the time of his parent's murder to becoming Batman. Alongside Bruce, David grew up on screen as he was 18 when the show ended. Living in New York as a teenager to shoot Gotham was trying at times as he was away from his school friends and the other half of his family, but since David is most passionate about work, he was ready to do school remotely. He managed juggling two completely different worlds effortlessly, and traveled back and forth to each coast regularly.
At Stanford, David performed in five plays and musicals, including an adaptation of Henry IV. He produced and acted in a production of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot. He also acted in and produced short films in his time at Stanford. - Actress

In the 1960s and 1970s, Dick Emery was one of the most successful comics on the box. He was voted BBC TV Personality of the Year, thanks to creations such as his toothy vicar, sex-starved spinster Hettie, crusty old Lampwick, outrageously camp Clarence, who coined the phrase: "Hallo honky tonks". Perhaps the most memorable of all was Mandy, a busty middle-aged woman whose repressed nature was usually betrayed by a sudden affectionate slap and a cry of: "Ooh, you are awful. But I like you!".
While his creations left millions howling, in private Emery was a man with a terrible fear of failure. He was often sick before performances and would sleep to escape stage nerves prior to a performance. Bob Monkhouse once incurred his wrath by accidentally waking him before a Royal Variety Performance. Emery exploded in a torrent of abuse as Monkhouse recalled in his book 'Over the Limit'. Emery used to spend hours in analysis, was hypnotised, tried many sedatives and drugs to cure his tension - though the pills scared him as much as the fear of failure.
He once told friend and co-star Roy Kinnear: "I don't just envy the confidence that other comics seem to have, I resent it. I hate them for it, just like my dad did. If there's such a thing as a chip off the old block, it's on my shoulder."
Emery married five times and left his last wife to live with a showgirl 30 years younger than him. His BBC show was axed after 12 years in 1979 and he died four years later.- Actor

Dwight Henry was born on 19 February 1963 in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. He is an actor and producer, known for Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012), 12 Years a Slave (2013) and Sexual Healing.- Born in East Los Angeles, Eduardo's multicultural experience of being raised in a predominantly Asian and Latino community shapes his aesthetic influences as a designer and lifestyle expert.
Throughout his life, he assisted his father in raising and pruning Bonsai. This hobby gave him a deep appreciation for shape, texture and clean lines. His strong connection to his Mexican heritage gives him a love of rich, vibrant colors and rhythm in the garden.
Before breaking ground as a star designer on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Eduardo was an accomplished keyboardist and percussionist. He was one of the youngest musicians to be scouted and selected to perform with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of ten. But Eduardo's passion for the arts extends beyond playing music. While studying theatre arts at UCLA, he produced several hit musical theatre and comedy revues that toured throughout the U.S. Shortly thereafter, he headed south to Latin America, where he found fame as a star of music, television and videos. He starred in several worldwide-syndicated telenovelas (soap operas), including "Sentimientos Ajenos," "La Jaula de Oro" and Acapulco Cuerpo y Alma."
During his time in Mexico, Eduardo also found time to produce music and videos. His production company worked with music producer Benny Rietveld of Carlos Santana fame and Mexican superstars Luis Miguel and Pilar Montenegro. Eduardo's partnership with BMG Latin produced his first solo album, "La Pasión," for which he was nominated for Premio Lo Nuestro's Artist of the Year, alongside Gloria Estefan and Ricky Martin. His representation of the United States at the International Music Festival at Viña Del Mar, Chile brought his appeal to a worldwide audience. Soon, Elle, Harper's Bazaar and Somos magazines featured the charming and down to earth Eduardo as one of Latin America's most eligible and gorgeous bachelors.
Over the last few years, Eduardo has transferred his experience in musical composition and television production into the world of design. "Whether it be in a concert or in a flower garden or a Great Room, the importance of harmony in composition is universal," explains Eduardo. As a co-star of ABC's hit TV show Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Eduardo's compositions are on display for 15 million people a week to view. In addition to his monthly column that he authored in People en Español and AOL LATINO, appearances on Good Morning America, his countless newspaper and magazine articles including being named one of the 50 Most Beautiful, by People en Espanol and among the 100 Most Influential Hispanics in America by Hispanic Magazine, Eduardo has become a respected and coveted voice in the Hispanic and other English language markets. Eduardo has been a spokesperson for companies such as Ford and Sears. Their close relationship with Extreme Makeover Home Edition made him a natural choice. As of May 2009 Eduardo has signed on as the spokesperson for DIRECTV mas! Further, Harper Collins imprint, RAYO published Eduardo's first book in April, 2007 titled Home Sense in both English and Spanish, worldwide. Home Sense was also awarded the Best Self-Help Book at the 2008 International Latino Book Awards. His second book, Extreme Entertaining Made Simple, was published by the Penguin Group in the fall of 2008, and focused on entertaining for the senses and is one of the few lifestyle entertainment titles to include a CD of originally composed and licensed music, befitting various events.
When not working on television, writing books, designing, or producing music, Eduardo works with several charities, including The Alumi Media Group. ALUMI is a Non-profit group he founded benefiting children in underserved communities by sharing with them alternative education theories through the media. - Eloy Azorín was born on February 19, 1977, in Madrid. He is the humourist Eloy Arenas's son. Thanks to him, he knows the show business from the inside out. His first appearance in cinema was as the main character of Como un relámpago (1996) where he shared credits with Santiago Ramos and Assumpta Serna, directed by Miguel Hermoso. This was the confirmation that he didn't want to do anything but act. He joined the school of Dramatic Art, auditioning with a monologue written by his father. Later on, in 1998, he appeared in the film Atómica (1998) written and directed by Alfonso Albacete and David Menkes, where he interpreted a small role. But he became really well-known with the multi-awarded All About My Mother (1999), of Pedro Almodóvar, starring as Cecilia Roth's son. He ignored during the ten days of shooting that All About My Mother (1999) would turn the world, monopolizing the attention of all media and the best prizes in the film industry. The surprise came with the Oscar. Since then, his work has multiplied. Cuba (2002), Besos para todos (2000), Aunque tú no lo sepas (2000) and Mad Love (2001) (still in production) are the titles that take his name in 2000. It is Besos para todos (2000) his last great success. Next to Emma Suárez, he stars as a student that discovers the mysteries of love and sex in a grey and multicolored Spain in the 1960s. These lines only describe the beginning of a promising career.

He was born as Johann Hölzel in Vienna, but was mostly called "Hans". Very young, he was considered as a new Mozart and decided to have a musical career. He started playing the bass guitar in local bands such as "Drahdiwaberl" or "The Hallucination Company". Around that time he changed his name to Falco, fascinated by the German ski jumper Falko Weisspflog. However, he felt that playing in these bands couldn't give him the success he wanted to have, even if the single "Ganz Wien" ("All of Vienna"), dealing with the local drug scene, was a huge success. His first solo album, "Einzelhaft" (solitary confinement) was a huge success (more than seven million copies were sold), and the single "Der Kommissar" (The Commissar) was a success, too. The next album "Junge Roemer" (Young Romans) was quite a flop since it was too refined, too far ahead of its time, to be a hit with the masses, thought appreciated by many critics. His third album, "Falco 3", and the single "Rock me Amadeus" went number 1 in Austria, Germany, England, South Africa, Canada in end of 1985. And when Falco thought he was at the top, his song "Rock Me Amadeus" hit #1 on the Billboard 100 on the 29 march 1986 and stayed there for four weeks. The other single of Falco 3, "Jeanny" was a success too but was banned from numerous radio stations due to its controversial lyrics, which could be interpreted as romanticizing of rape and murder. The next album "Emotional", 1986 was quite a success with the singles "Emotinal", "The sound of musik" and "Coming Home (Jeanny part 2)". Then he made some less recognized albums between 1986 and 1992, due to problems with his wife (marriage problems, divorce, finding out later that his daughter Katharina was not actually his), and drug problems. The he made a comeback in 1992 with the album "Nachtflug" ("Night Flight"), the single "Titanic" when number one in Austria for 17 weeks. In 1993, he made a big concert for the Donauinselfest (Danube Island Festival) in Vienna, under the pouring rain, more than 110,000 people went there for Falco's probably best concert. In 1995, he released the single "Mutter, Der Mann Mit Dem Koks ist Da" ("Mother, the man with the Coke is There"), which was successful, particularly in Germany. In 1996, he moved to the Dominican Republic for two reasons: he didn't like the penetrating and indiscreet media in Austria and couldn't stand the cold winters any more. In 1996 too, he released his last single, "Naked". In the summer 1997, Falco worked on a new, and as it turned out, final, album which was quite finished at the end of 1997, next to release under the title "Egoisten", but the perfectionist Falco wanted to drop what was quite a finished album. The 6th February 1998 at 4.40PM, a bus, driving too fast, ran into his Mitsubishi Pajero as he was going out of a parking lot, and unfortunately he died. The album was released posthumously as "Out of the Dark". A last album was released in 1999 "Verdammt Wir Leben Noch" ("Damn, we're still alive"), with songs that were dropped by Falco, and a best of was released, "The final curtain - the ultimate best of Falco". Falco's tombstone was inaugurated on the 2nd of September in Vienna.- Actress

Fay Eunice McKenzie was born February 19, 1918 into a show business family where she was the youngest of two sisters and an actress cousin, and made her screen debut at only ten weeks old in "Station Content" (1918) in which she was carried in the arms of Gloria Swanson. Her parents, Eva & Bob "Pops" McKenzie were already veteran performers and apparently wanted their daughter to get an early start in films. She nearly stole the show from Oliver Hardy as "the baby" in the Alice Howell short "Distilled Love" (filmed in 1918 but released two years later). By the time she was six, Fay was considered an old hand, having played diverse parts in her father's stock company. Among her early films was the 1924 Photoplay Medal Winner, "The Dramatic Life of Abraham Lincoln."
A native of Hollywood, she got most of her schooling on movie sets including the famous Little Red Schoolhouse at MGM. Her classmates included Betty Grable, Ann Rutherford and June Storey. As a teenager in the early 1930's Fay appeared in a number of low budget westerns with Wally Wales and Buddy Roosevelt as well as the all-star MGM musical "Student Tour" (1934). In 1937 she starred in the cult propaganda film about the dangers of marijuana entitled "Assassin of Youth". She also had a small part in the 1939 classic "Gunga Din". Her first Broadway venture was at age 17 and in 1940 she appeared as Miss Hollywood in "Meet the People", a popular review of that season starring Jack Gilford and Jack Albertson.
But she is probably best remembered for her work with Gene Autry at Republic Studios, where she was the feminine interest in "Down Mexico Way" (1941), "Sierra Sue" (1941), "Home in Wyomin'" (1942), "Heart of the Rio Grande" (1942) and "Cowboy Serenade" (1942). Finally getting the leading lady roles she deserved, the raven-haired beauty was an immediate hit with audiences. In 1942 Republic co-starred her with Don 'Red' Barry in the war-time flag waver, "Remember Pearl Harbor!" During WWII she toured with the Hollywood Victory Caravan and appeared in dozens of USO shows with various show biz legends including Frank Sinatra, Phil Silvers and Desi Arnaz. At the same time she could be heard on radio in "Pabst's Blue Ribbon Town" starring Groucho Marx. Featured film roles continued to come her way with Universal's "The Singing Sheriff" (1944), Warner Bros' "Night and Day" (1946) and "Murder in the Music Hall" (1946), the latter filmed at her home studio of Republic.
In 1946 she married the dark, husky actor Steve Cochran, but their union was short lived and they divorced two years later. She went back to Broadway to appear opposite comedian Bert Lahr (best known as The Cowardly Lion in "The Wizard of Oz") in the 1946 revival of "Burlesque." During the 1950's she studied with Sanford Meisner and at The Actor's Studio with Lee Strasberg in NYC. She was seen to favorable advantage on a number of TV shows including "The Millionaire" (1959), "Mr. Lucky" (1960), "Bonanza" (1961), and "Experiment in Terror" (1962).
She also appeared in a number of films for close friend and director Blake Edwards, including "Breakfast at Tiffany's" (1961) as the party guest laughing in the mirror, "The Party" (1968) and "S.O.B." (1981). She was especially proud of "The Party" with Peter Sellers and agreed to play the cameo role of Alice Clutterbuck (the hostess of the party) because the script was co-written by her husband, Tom Waldman. She and Waldman married in 1949 and had two children Tom Jr. and Madora. Waldman Sr. passed away in 1985. Her older sister Ella "Lolly" McKenzie was also an actress and was married to well-known comedian Billy Gilbert. Her other sister Ida Mae McKenzie started in silent films as well and went on to work behind the scenes of popular game shows including the original "Hollywood Squares".
McKenzie traveled extensively as a Christian Science Practitioner, lecturing all over the country and in Europe. In 2012 she received the Career Achievement Award at the Cinecon Classic Film Festival and in 2017 she was on-hand to present some of her family's home movies at the TCM Film Festival (those films are now housed the Academy Film Archive in Hollywood). During the summer of 2018 she made a cameo appearance alongside her son Tom as Mrs. Van Proosdy in the film "Kill A Better Mousetrap". Her performance marks the first century-spanning career in motion picture history. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of April 16th at the age of 101. She is survived by her son, actor Tom Waldman, Jr., daughter Madora McKenzie Kibbe and her two grandchildren.- Director

Spending too much time in soccer games at school, his low academic performance forced his mother to send him to 'La Prensa' newspaper in order to get more responsibility with a part-time job. Every afternoon after school classes he went to the office until late at night. Since then, journalism became a passion for him.
In 1982 he was admitted to study at PUCP (Universidad Católica del Perú) with the determination to become a lawyer and then a politician, but the Soccer World Cup in Spain was taking place and got his attention and he was absent from classes because he wanted to watch every game. After four years of mediocre studies he left the college.
His first TV appearance occurred in 1983 during the municipal elections nationwide, interviewing candidates and politicians. That job was boring for him, so he began a successful career as a late show host interviewing flamboyant and celebrity personalities.
Bayly's first Late Show, '1990 en America', got the attention of TV audiences and critics; the next year he hosted a copy of David Letterman's Late Show - 'Que hay de nuevo?', which was ranked as the most popular TV Show.
His novels are also popular and 'No se lo digas a Nadie' (Don't tell Anyone) inspired a screenplay in 1998 directed by Francisco Lombardi and starring Santiago Magil and Christian Meier. He wrote five more novels, all of them with smart arguments about politics criticism, sexual freedom and friendship.
Bayly made Late Shows abroad in CBS Network Latin America and Telemundo Network during six years. After the president of Peru, Alberto Fujimori, ran away to Japan (after a ten-years term in government) in order to avoid an imminent trial for charges of corruption; independent news media got over their difficult situation and Bayly hosted a new TV program 'Francotirador, El' as a political journalist, interviewing candidates for the new Presidential Elections. In that program, he bothered several 'respected' personalities with his political opinions and finally he had to quit from that. Inspired by that experience Jaime wrote a book with the same title. - Actress

Bloom was an imposingly massive 7 foot 4 inch tall giant who was born on February 19, 1944 and grew up both in and around Los Angeles, CA. He originally worked as an accountant until he was convinced to take up acting in 1971 by the legendary Grade Z schlock/exploitation/drive-in filmmaker Al Adamson. Bloom made his film debut as the Frankenstein Monster in the hilariously horrible horror film Dracula vs. Frankenstein (1971). He also appeared in supporting roles in the films Brain of Blood (1971) and Angels' Wild Women (1971) for Adamson as well, playing a hulking warrior and a motorcycle gang member, respectively.
Among Bloom's more memorable film roles are a gentle and dim-witted behemoth of a handyman who has the head of a vicious killer grafted onto his body in the deliciously cheesy horror film The Incredible 2-Headed Transplant (1971), a murderous alien who terrorizes Los Angeles in the not-half-bad horror/sci-fi film The Dark (1979), the intimidating bodyguard of an Indian pimp in the hilariously raunchy and raucous film Bachelor Party (1984), a cannibal hillbilly named the Reaper in the terrible horror film The Hills Have Eyes Part II (1984), and an enormous antagonistic alien who fights with Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) in the science fiction film Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991).
Bloom continued working throughout the 1980s and early 1990s playing tall, hulking thugs or seedy criminals in minor to small roles in films and TV series until health problems led to his semi-retirement in the mid-1990s. Being a giant, he suffered from acromegaly for his entire life, which took a toll on his health and led to an enlarged heart, among other physical problems. John Bloom died of heart failure on January 15, 1999 at the age of 54. - Director

Born in New York and raised in Queens, John Frankenheimer wanted to become a professional tennis player. He loved movies and his favorite actor was Robert Mitchum. He decided he wanted to be an actor but then he applied for and was accepted in the Motion Picture Squadron of the Air Force where he realized his natural talent to handle a camera. After his military discharge he began a TV career in 1953 convincing CBS to hire him as an assistant director, which consisted mainly working as a cameraman at that time. He eventually started to direct the show he was working on as an assistant director. Frankenheimer still didn't want to direct films. He liked to direct live television, and he would have continued to do it if the profession itself hadn't cease to exist. He first turned to the big screen with The Young Stranger (1957) which he hated to do because he thought he didn't understand movies and wasn't used to work with only one camera. Disappointed his with first feature film experience he returned to his successful television career directing a total of 152 live television shows between 1954 and 1960. He took another chance to move to the cinema industry, working with Burt Lancaster in The Young Savages (1961) ending up becoming a successful filmmaker best known by expressing on films his views on important social and philosophical topics.- Amazingly talented child star Jon Whiteley was born Jon James Lamont Whiteley on February 19, 1945 in Monymusk, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and put together an enviable, albeit brief, career in 1950s film drama. This precocious talent started things off winningly at age six by earning first prize for verse-speaking at the Aberdeen Music Festival when he was only 6. A BBC radio "Children's Hour" producer in Scotland visited the Monymusk Primary School, where his father was headteacher, to record the children's various talents. Little Jon's recitation of Edward Lear's nonsense poem "The Owl and the Pussycat" brought him to the attention of a talent scout, who successfully screen-tested him for a co-starring role in the suspenser The Stranger in Between (1952) in which he plays a young runaway abducted and subsequently befriended by fugitive Dirk Bogarde.
Although this intriguingly slim-eyed, offbeat-looking, tousled blond appeared in only five films during his brief reign, he made an award-winning impression. His astonishingly natural performance as Harry in only his second film The Little Kidnappers (1953) so captivated critics that he and fellow child co-star Vincent Winter were awarded an honorary, miniature "Juvenile Oscar" at the Academy Awards ceremony of 1954. In this touching drama, the two boys play orphaned brothers who secretly adopt an abandoned baby after their grandfather's refusal to allow them to keep a pet dog.
Other superb portrayals came Jon's way as Fritz Lang's young protagonist John Mohune in Moonfleet (1955) opposite Stewart Granger, and in The Weapon (1956) as a lad who accidentally shoots his friend with a gun used long ago in a murder. Jon also scored in The Spanish Gardener (1956) as the lonely son of a British consul living in Madrid who finds solace with (again) Dirk Bogarde as the title character. Following a tiny spat of TV appearances, his career ended as quickly as it began and he focused on schooling.
Jon studied at Inverurie Academy and Atlantic College at St Donat's Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan, earning a degree in modern history from Pembroke College, Oxford, then an MA and a doctorate in the subject after writing a thesis on 19th-century French painting. At the University of Oxford, he began his new career in 1976 as assistant curator of Christ Church Picture Gallery. Two years later, he moved to the Ashmolean Museum, the Oxford University's home of art and archaeology, as an assistant keeper of the Department of Western Art, becoming its senior curator in 1993.
A respected art historian, Dr. Whitely authored and co-authored several books on artists including Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, Pierre Puvis de Chavannes and Claude Lorrain. He published a book on the Ashmolean's Stringed Instruments in 2009. Married in 1972 to a fellow art historian, Linda Whiteley, the couple had two children, William and Flora. He was made a chevalier (knight) of the French Order of Arts and Letters in May, 2009. Jon died at age 75 on May 16, 2020, in Oxford. - Writer

Marvin's military decorations include the Purple Heart Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon. Tall, distinguished, aristocratic Louis Calhern seemed to be the poster boy for old-money, upper-crust urban society, but he was actually born Carl Vogt, to middle-class parents in New York City. His family moved to St. Louis when he was a child, and it was while playing football in high school there that he was spotted by a representative of a touring acting troupe and hired as an actor. He returned to New York to work in the theater, but his career was interrupted by military service in France in World War I. He returned to the stage after the war, and eventually broke into films. Although his regal bearing would seem to pigeonhole him in aristocratic parts in serious drama, he proved to be a very versatile actor, as much at home playing a comic foil to The Marx Brothers in Duck Soup (1933) as he was as Buffalo Bill to Betty Hutton's Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun (1950) or, most memorably, the lawyer involved with the criminal gang in The Asphalt Jungle (1950). Married four times, he was in Tokyo, Japan, filming The Teahouse of the August Moon (1956) when he suffered a fatal heart attack.- Actor
