Favourite movies and shows for kids! (under 13)
by oninagiinochi | created - 2 months ago | updated - 1 week ago | PublicWhen it comes to what's suitable for kids, I think most things are actually fine, unless they glorify violence, drugs, and swearing. Even if I think a movie would be beyond a kid's understanding because it's too philosophical or uses a lot of difficult words and ideas beyond their grade level, if they're interested then it's worth it for them to check it out anyways, as I did with a lot of my favourite movies that I first saw as a kid.
I have a more European or Eastern sensibility rather than Western or North American. If it's too violent, it has to be for a good reason and not just entertainment. I mean, even when it comes to martial arts - for me the appeal has never been about the violence or power fantasy, it's about the ART and the philosophies behind it. It's about using powers we all have responsibly. What I'd show a kid would be the same thing I'd find suitable for myself as an adult, unless it shows some realistic traumatic realities like what happens in the reality of wars... that kind of thing is better left to older kids (teenaged), as important and educational as they are to see.
These are all movies and shows that either I've loved since I was a kid and still love, or that I wish I had seen as a kid. If I ever have kids, I'd love to show these to them! In the title I put the age of 13, but while I think most of these are ok for any age, some are better for the wee double digits.
Right now I'm just adding them as they come to my mind, I may order them later.
