- DirectorWes CravenStarsNeve CampbellCourteney CoxDavid ArquetteTwo years after the first series of murders, as Sidney acclimates to college life, someone donning the Ghostface costume begins a new string of killings.JANUARY
8/10. A really entertaining sequel with some great performances. The first film I watched this year, and it was pretty much a banger. The film stuck with me also a lot more than I thought it would and I really loved the clever plot twists. I have to admit, I guessed the killer, but the film still gave me a fresh, sweet plot twist anyway. I wouldn't say it's better than film one (it's certainly gorier and has more tension-building) but it has some very, very memorable parts like the car scene, basically all the Timothy Olyphant scenes and the whole concept of the movie trying to tackle the idea of whether cinema and TV can turn people into monsters or not (I think you have to be sick anyway to commit a horrible crime, I don't think a film would flat-out make you do it and be the number one blame. I also think at the end of the day, we make decisions and if a film influences every decision of yours, you need some help.). But this film was good stuff. Very fluffy. - DirectorWes CravenStarsDavid ArquetteNeve CampbellCourteney CoxWhile Sidney and her friends visit the Hollywood set of Stab 3, the third film based on the Woodsboro murders, another Ghostface killer rises to terrorize them.7/10. A fairly strong sequel, but the characters are all over the place. I think the film was kind of unsettling for the most part, but the entire concept of it being set in Hollywood seemed a bit big for its boots. It's certainly not as awful or abysmal as many people think, but it's also not really that interesting as a sequel or a standalone film and felt a bit like a self-parody at times.
- DirectorJohn HughesStarsAnthony Michael HallIlan Mitchell-SmithKelly LeBrockTwo high-school nerds use a computer program to literally create the perfect woman, who promptly turns their lives upside-down.3/10. John Hughes was a genius, but this film does not really represent his best work. The film is problematic with its plot and scenes, making it more hard to watch than funny or amusing.
P.S.: Whoever made this clearly hasn't "tossed off to any good magazines" recently, to quote the film. - DirectorPaul Thomas AndersonStarsAlana HaimCooper HoffmanSean PennThe story of Alana Kane and Gary Valentine growing up, running around and going through the treacherous navigation of first love in the San Fernando Valley, 1973.4/10: I think this movie is very, very flawed and I think that its flaws are sorta going over a lot of critics' heads. The film starts off pretty decent and I really loved the first half hour, it was gripping to watch. But then, it started to get not only super boring and tedious, but also really problematic. The story just drifts a little and seems to go nowhere, but also I have no idea what this film was tryna achieve in anyway. I think the problematic and disturbing aspect of the entire film overshadowed the rest and like "Weird Science" it was hard to watch, distracting and confusing as to what the filmmakers were thinking when they thought of this.
I also didn't think it was particularly funny as a contribution to the "comedy-drama" genre. All of the jokes seemed tired and overused. Overall, the film was problematic (it seemed like it was glorifying child-adult relationships and seriously trying to condone them in some way which sickened me) but also very overtly long, draggy and drawn out. It was structured pretty badly in my opinion and I think it could've been okay if it A) wasn't problematic B) was about 1hr 40 mins.
P.S.: Bradley Cooper has a very lovely beard very lovely very nice. Had a great time watching with friends, but the film isn't great despite what "critics" say. - DirectorDanny BoyleLoveleen TandanStarsDev PatelFreida PintoSaurabh ShuklaA teenager from the slums of Mumbai becomes a contestant on the show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati?' When interrogated under suspicion of cheating, he revisits his past, revealing how he had all the answers.11/10. This film is great stuff! It's thrilling, emotional and... aha, what do I even say? I didn't want to get off where I was sitting, it was that good.
- DirectorWes CravenStarsHeather LangenkampRobert EnglundJf DavisA demonic force has chosen Freddy Krueger as its portal to the real world. Can Heather Langenkamp play the part of Nancy one last time and trap the evil trying to enter our world?7/10 Ish okay.
- DirectorRichard KellyStarsJake GyllenhaalJena MaloneMary McDonnellAfter narrowly escaping a bizarre accident, a troubled teenager is plagued by visions of a man in a large rabbit suit who manipulates him to commit a series of crimes.FEBRUARY
11/10. One of my favourite films of all time. Just amazing. 'Nuff said. REWATCH
I love Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal as individuals I take no sides in the argument is that like being a half-human? - DirectorM. Night ShyamalanStarsBruce WillisHaley Joel OsmentToni ColletteMalcolm Crowe, a child psychologist, starts treating a young boy, Cole, who encounters dead people and convinces him to help them. In turn, Cole helps Malcolm reconcile with his estranged wife.10/10. I see dead movies and this is not one of them. REWATCH
- DirectorWes CravenStarsNeve CampbellCourteney CoxDavid ArquetteTen years have passed, and Sidney Prescott, who has put herself back together thanks in part to her writing, is visited by the Ghostface Killer.9/10 Great film! This film had so much more substance to it than I expected, honestly. This film is really interesting and packed with twists and action.
P.S.: How the hell is this film rated 15 in the UK compared to the 18-rated 90s-00s films??????? - DirectorTodd SolondzStarsShirley HendersonAllison JanneyAlly SheedyFriends, family, and lovers struggle to find love, forgiveness, and meaning in an almost war-torn world riddled with comedy and pathos.10/10 This film deals with a few themes, and very well. The director Todd Solondz is really skilled at making typically uninteresting situations intriguing. It's disturbing and unsettling, but memorable. Also the actor behind Timmy is probably the best child performance I have ever seen or at least one of them.
P.S.: To Timmy Maplewood: keep the bowl cut ma G - DirectorJean-Pierre JeunetStarsAudrey TautouMathieu KassovitzRufusDespite being caught in her imaginative world, Amelie, a young waitress, decides to help people find happiness. Her quest to spread joy leads her on a journey where she finds true love.10/10 how many people are watching this right now
- DirectorSaul BassStarsNigel DavenportMichael MurphyLynne FrederickSuddenly, desert ants form a group intelligence and wage war on the humans. It's up to a couple of scientists and a girl to stop them6/10 This film was okay. Cruel, but it had lots of interesting imagery altho a missed opportunity lot of the scenes depicting the humans without a doubt, but at least I've finally watched this! I'd heard of this film when I was about 10.
- DirectorRobert EnriquezStarsDeborah PuetteNavid NegahbanVachik MangassarianWhen a desperate Grace (Deborah Puette) walks into the Queen of Persia Gold Emporium, all she wants is to get in and out with some badly needed cash and a shred of her dignity intact. Things do not look promising when she comes up against Ehsan ('Homeland's Navid Negahban), a man with troubles of his own who reluctantly works the store's counter under his father's controlling gaze. A short film about hope told in English and Farsi, 'Cash for Gold' delicately examines the economic and ethnic tensions America grapples with today through the lens of two unlikely allies and the split-second decision that will turn their brief encounter into something neither of them will ever forget.7/10. A pretty okay short film about kindness :).
- DirectorAneil KariaStarsCarl PrekoppBelal SabirLeon UngRiz and his family are in the middle of a typical family day in their house, whilst a far right march plays out on the telly in the background, which eventually arrives at their front door, leading to a devastating outcome.10/10. This short film blew me away. Riz Ahmed is a genius. Like, literally, when I first started watching this I thought it was kind of okay, and then the intensity kicked in and I was shocked so much that it actually made me enjoy the first few minutes. If a film can make you appreciate parts of it that you previously didn't enjoy or think were significant... wow. That is one good film... and it's not even feature length!
- DirectorJon HurwitzHayden SchlossbergStarsJason BiggsAlyson HanniganSeann William ScottJim, Michelle, Stifler, and their friends reunite in East Great Falls, Michigan for their high school reunion.7/10. Excluding the problematic and disturbing parts and despite the franchise's criticism, I've always enjoyed the American Pie movies with Jim and all that and altho this film isn't Oscar-worthy, it made me laugh a LOT more than I expected.
- DirectorTrey ParkerStarsTrey ParkerMatt StoneApril StewartWhat happened to the children who lived through the Pandemic? Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny survived, but will never be the same Post-COVID.MARCH
8/10 I watched this on the bus on the way back from London, and it was so great! I like South Park and think it can be funny, but this is a whole 'nother level of quality, it genuinely made me feel emotion as well as the usual deeply dark Trey Park and Matt Stone humour.
P.S.: Get Towelie in the sequel O_o - DirectorMatt ReevesStarsRobert PattinsonZoë KravitzJeffrey WrightWhen a sadistic serial killer begins murdering key political figures in Gotham, The Batman is forced to investigate the city's hidden corruption and question his family's involvement.10/10. This is the best superhero film ever in my opinion. It has a disturbing sense of realism, yeah, but it's also just an amazing addition to the slowly-dying superhero genre. The superhero genre is becoming more and more unoriginal, but this film is just so sweet and so fresh. I loved every second of this gritty, interesting piece of art and the music really added to it.
But what I loved most is that this film feels like a genuine movie. It doesn't mess about trying to be a crowd-pleaser with big action scenes all the time, it just attempts to be a decent movie.
P.S.: Robert Pattison rocks as an emo anime Bruce Wayne man thing, and the rest of the cast are super great too :). - DirectorSeverin FialaVeronika FranzStarsLukas SchwarzElias SchwarzSusanne WuestTwin boys move to a new house with their mother after she has face-changing cosmetic surgery, but under the bandages is someone the boys don't recognize.10/10. "Goodnight Mommy" had so many clever plot twists, it honestly took me back. It was, however, extremely disgusting and hard to watch. But then again, horror is supposed to make you want to look away and feel icky.
If you're gonna watch this film, be warned, it is absolutely vile in scenes but is a genuinely clever movie.
P.S.: I really need to watch some PG movies this year. - DirectorJonathan DemmeStarsDavid ByrneBernie WorrellAlex WeirConsidered by critics as the greatest concert film of all time, the live performance was shot over the course of three nights at Hollywood's Pantages Theater in December of 1983 and features Talking Heads' most memorable songs.8/10 A concert movie and I love it! The intro is easily one of the most epic moments of music history. I wore a suit once like David Byrne's cuz it was so big, haha.
P.S. This is a disco, this is a party. - DirectorTodd SolondzStarsHeather MatarazzoChristina BrucatoVictoria DavisAn awkward seventh-grader struggles to cope with inattentive parents, snobbish class-mates, a smart older brother, an attractive younger sister and her own insecurities in suburban New Jersey.9/10 duh
- DirectorMichael LehmannStarsWinona RyderChristian SlaterShannen DohertyAt Westerburg High where cliques rule, jocks dominate and all the popular girls are named Heather, it's going to take a Veronica and mysterious new kid to give teen angst a body count.11/10 the plot did not make my balls blue but apart from that this is arguably arguably one the best films ever made
- DirectorDavid CronenbergStarsJames WoodsDebbie HarrySonja SmitsA programmer at a Toronto TV station that specializes in adult entertainment searches for the producers of a dangerous and bizarre broadcast.APRIL
8/10 - Blondie isn't really blonde anymore - DirectorPenelope SpheerisStarsMike MyersDana CarveyRob LoweTwo slacker friends try to promote their public-access cable show.8/10 finally I watched a nice film.
- DirectorTrey ParkerStarsTrey ParkerMatt StoneMary Kay BergmanWhen Stan Marsh and his friends go see an R-rated movie, they start cursing and their parents think that Canada is to blame.9/10 I really loved this film not only cuz I thought it was just hilarious but because the comedy carries a message and this film wasn't afraid to take comedy to the next level. I love south park, but sometimes the show feels like it's being either too tame or too much. This, however, was a great combination and a joy to watch.
- DirectorJames WanStarsPatrick WilsonVera FarmigaRon LivingstonParanormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren work to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse.REWATCH 10/10 - James Wan is a lovely chap
