"Jurassic Park" is a movie that needs no introduction. One of the finest moments in the career of one of cinema's most celebrated filmmakers, Steven Spielberg's adaptation of Michael Crichton's novel of the same name remains one of the most important blockbusters of all time. It was one of the biggest box office hits ever when it was released, but also a movie that shaped the landscape of blockbuster filmmaking for decades to come. It was a hulking cinematic achievement and one that left some battle scars along the way.

For various reasons, including the difficulty of keeping up with the demanding nature of the industry, several Hollywood child actors like Ariana Richards have disappeared from the limelight. While some abandoned the profession because of the inability to transition to adult roles, others choose to settle for an ordinary life away from public attention or simply pursue another interest. The latter is perhaps true for Richards, who was once named among VH1’s 100 greatest kid stars of all time. Beginning her career at age seven as a ballerina in a television commercial, the Healdsburg, California native’s acting debut came in...

Ten years ago, Steven Spielberg‘s classic dinosaur movie Jurassic Park was given the 3D treatment for a twentieth anniversary theatrical re-release. Now the 3D version of Jurassic Park is set to return to theatres for the film’s thirtieth anniversary. The folks at ComicBook.com noticed that tickets for Jurassic Park 3D screenings are already available for purchase on the Regal Movies website.
Here’s how Regal promotes the re-release: “Experience one of the biggest films in motion picture history with director Steven Spielberg’s ultimate thrill ride, Jurassic Park. Featuring Academy Award-winning visual effects and groundbreaking filmmaking that has been hailed as ‘a triumph of special effects artistry’, this epic film is sheer movie-making magic that was 65 million years in the making. Jurassic Park takes you to an amazing theme park on a remote island where dinosaurs once again roam the earth and five people must battle to survive among the prehistoric predators.

After closing out May with the first half of our dino double feature in Tammy and the T-Rex, we’re kicking off June (and concluding the double feature) with a look at Steven Spielberg‘s 1993 classic Jurassic Park!
In the film, wealthy businessman John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) and a team of genetic scientists have created a wildlife park filled with dinosaurs. When industrial sabotage leads to a catastrophic shutdown of the park’s power facilities and security precautions, a small group of visitors, including Hammond’s grandchildren (Ariana Richards and Joseph Mazello), paleontologist Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and paleobotanist Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), struggle to survive and escape the now perilous island.

When Universal Pictures released the classic creature feature Tremors (watch it Here) back in 1990, they decided to market it with poster art that brings to mind the iconic poster for Universal’s 1975 release Jaws. But before they made that choice, they had hired famed artist Drew Struzan – whose work includes the posters for Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, and Star Wars films, among many others – come up with a couple poster ideas. Yesterday, Struzan took to social media to share a look at a couple of his unused Tremors poster concepts… and you can check them out in this embed:

A new episode of the Revisited video series has just arrived online, and in this one we’re looking back at one of my personal all-time favorite movies, the 1990 creature feature Tremors (watch it Here)! To find out what we had to say about Tremors, check out the video embedded above.
Directed by Ron Underwood from a screenplay by Brent Maddock and S. S. Wilson (who also share story credit with Underwood), Tremors has the following synopsis: Handymen Val McKee and Earl Bassett are tired of their dull lives in the small desert town of Perfection, Nevada. But just as the two try to skip town, they happen upon a series of mysterious deaths and a concerned seismologist studying unnatural readings below the ground. With the help of an eccentric couple, the group fights for survival against giant, worm-like monsters hungry for human flesh.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Steven Spielberg's modern classic blockbuster "Jurassic Park." In honor of the milestone anniversary, Universal will be celebrating the original dinosaur adventure all year long, including a bunch of new merchandise for fans to collect.
Perhaps the most exciting reveal so far is a batch of new "Jurassic Park" Lego sets that finally deliver perfectly sized building brick versions of the Jurassic Park Jeep and Ford Explorer from the doomed theme park. But of course, it wouldn't be a proper "Jurassic Park" Lego collection without a batch of dinosaurs and minifigures for all the important characters from the beloved movie. There are also crucial details for fans to enjoy, such as the Barbasol shaving cream can be used to smuggle dinosaur DNA and the "one big pile of s***" that Ian Malcolm wryly comments upon while checking on a sick Triceratops.

A troublesome production doesn't always mean a bad film. Case in point, "Jaws." The 159-day-long shoot went over budget and behind schedule, with many of the problems stemming from the star special effect: "Bruce" the mechanical shark. The making of "Jaws" was so eventful that there have been multiple books and a stage play recounting it. And yet, the film was still, to put it mildly, a success.
The lessons that director Steven Spielberg learned on "Jaws" influenced how he would make "Jurassic Park" almost 20 years later. According to Joseph McBride's "Steven Spielberg: A Biography," the director's goal with "Jurassic Park" was, "to make a good sequel to 'Jaws.' On land." Some unpleasant memories from the "Jaws" shoot even caused Spielberg to scrap a planned set-piece featuring a swimming T. Rex.
The Deleted T. Rex Scene
Compared to Michael Crichton's original novel, Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" is stripped down to the essentials.

“Jurassic World Dominion” features the long-awaited return of Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill, appearing on screen for the first time together since 1993’s “Jurassic Park,” but there’s another franchise O.G. who’s part of the mix — Bd Wong.
Wong’s Dr. Henry Wu has also been a central player in the dinosaur film franchise since its inception, as Jurassic Park’s chief geneticist, the InGen scientist responsible for resurrecting these extinct animals. Memorably, Wu’s explanation for genetically engineering all the dinosaurs to be female (“There’s no unauthorized breeding in Jurassic Park”) elicited the classic response from Goldblum’s chaotician Dr. Ian Malcom, “Life, uh… finds a way.”
After sitting out the two “Jurassic Park” sequels (1997’s “The Lost World” and 2001’s “Jurassic Park III”), Wong returned for “Jurassic World” in 2015, and this time he had the memorable quip: “You didn’t ask for reality; you asked for more teeth!

This 1990 monster romp still feels bright, smart & fresh, a mix of light comedy and old-fashioned scares. The entire show is one long battle against smelly burrowing beasts called ‘Graboids.’ Desert handymen Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward must work hard to avoid taking their place in the Graboid Food Chain. Ambitious it ain’t, but it delivers what monster fans want — gross-out thrills, excellent effects and solid laughs. Arrow’s 4K Ultra HD disc is as sharp as a tack, and a second Blu-ray disc contains an unprecedented volume of featurettes, interviews and production documentation.

Hello again, dear readers! We’re back for another look at this week’s horror and sci-fi home media releases, and there are quite a few titles headed home tomorrow. So, if you have any last-minute shopping you need to get done, there might be something listed here that could be helpful in that regard.
Probably the biggest release of this week is Arrow’s brand new 4K 2-Disc Limited Edition set celebrating one of the best monster movies ever, Tremors, and Warner is showing some love to The Curse of Frankenstein as well. In terms of recent horror, we have a ton of brilliant genre fare to pick from on Tuesday, including The Wolf of Snow Hollow, The Beach House, Don’t Look Back, and The Call, and Full Moon has resurrected Orgy of the Dead as well.

Today officially marked the first day of filming on Jurassic World 3, the hotly anticipated closer to the Jurassic World trilogy that’ll also bring the franchise full circle by getting back the original stars of Jurassic Park. Other than that casting coup, not much else had been known about the sequel before now. However, in announcing the start of the shoot, director Colin Trevorrow has unveiled the official title of the movie – Jurassic World: Dominion.
This afternoon, Trevorrow took to Twitter to share a shot of a clapperboard from the set. As you can see below, it sports the film’s logo, revealing the one-word subtitle of the piece. “Day one #Jurassic World,” is how Trevorrow captioned the image.

Colin Trevorrow has been playing a long game with the Jurassic World franchise. By reintroducing B.D Wong’s Henry Wu in the first World and then having Jeff Goldblum cameo as Ian Malcolm in Fallen Kingdom, he’s teased audiences for a full-on crossover between the casts of Jurassic Park and the modern movies, and that’s exactly what we’re going to get in Jurassic World 3. Yes, Goldblum’s back again, but so is Sam Neill’s Alan Grant and Laura Dern’s Ellie Sattler.

Steven Spielberg is the most famous filmmaker in the world, so it was only a matter of time before his lengthy filmography was scrutinized by 21st century standards. The Bechdel test was going to find him eventually.
The Bechdel test — coined by graphic novelist Alison Bechdel, it calls for a movie to have at least two named woman characters, who speak to each other about something other than a man — has its flaws, but it’s a simple, quantifiable way to measure whether a movie’s portrayal of women is credible. It’s not an issue that would have come up for Spielberg when he launched his career nearly 50 years ago, but times have changed.

The 1990 cult classic monster movie Tremors has spawned four sequels (with another on the way) but are they any good?
This article contains spoilers for the assorted Tremors movies.
You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who hates Tremors. In fact, while I was watching these sequels I ran a quick poll online asking people to choose their favourite 90s monster movie and Tremors won in an absolute landslide – leaving even the much-beloved Gremlins 2 in the dust.
The original cost a rather humble $11 million to make and made $5 million profit at the box office. Not a huge amount, but its subsequent popularity on home release and TV means that, 26 years later, we’ve just received word that a sixth instalment has gone into production. It seems the Tremors love is still very much alive and kicking (or should that be ‘squirming’?).

But what about the sci-fi films of the 1990s that failed to make even close to the same cultural and financial impact of those big hitters? These are the films this list is devoted to - the flops, the straight-to-video releases, the low-budget and critically-derided. Jurassic World is shattering box office records across the globe, but what happened to the stars of the movie that kick-started it all? Steven Spielberg's 1993 classic Jurassic Park was flawlessly cast, mixing well-known stars and fresh faces in a perfect blockbuster thrill-ride.
With Jurassic World overhauling its stars entirely (just two remain from the original), we take a look back to find out what the stars of Jurassic Park are doing now...
Sam Neill
Already a well-known star when he appeared in Jurassic Park, Neill won himself a fresh fanbase playing Alan Grant, a palaeontologist invited to see John Hammond's breathtaking park up close.
A one-time contender to play James Bond, Neill's early credits include espionage series Reilly: Ace of Spies, Dead Calm and The Hunt for Red October. In the years after Jurassic Park he notched up roles in Event Horizon, The Tudors and Peaky Blinders. Neill...

It doesn't matter how many times you watch Jurassic Park (thanks, ITV2!), Steven Spielberg's '90s dinosaur classic still has the ability to conjure up feelings of awe and wonder.
22 years on from Jurassic Park's original release - and with sequel Jurassic World in cinemas now - we go back to where it all began to pick out the best moments from the trailblazing blockbuster.
1. "Welcome to Jurassic Park!"
Spielberg keeps Jurassic Park's big dino reveal under wraps so that the lead characters - Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) - discover the prehistoric characters as the audience does. "Welcome to Jurassic Park!" Richard Attentborough's John Hammond exclaims as we watch a pair of Brontosauri striding majestically through a lake.
2. "I'm simply saying that life finds a way."

There’s arguably as much expectations to be found in the kids of “Jurassic World” (read our review) as your latest comic book franchise lead. First cemented by Joseph Mazzello and Ariana Richards in Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park,” the character types are essential, serving as the audience portal to the wonder and terror of the latest dinosaur outbreak. In “Jurassic World” director Colin Trevorrow’s latest installment, which also stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Jake Johnson, that responsibility falls to young actors Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson. My journey with Jurassic Park has its ups and downs. I was just a shade over 16-years-old when the film hit theaters in 1993 and my interest in the movie was sparked by having read Michael Crichton's novel from which it was based. To ask me now, I couldn't detail the differences versus the book and the film (though this video helps with that) other than to remember the book featured a lot more dinosaurs and was a bit more mature than Steven Spielberg's adaptation, from a screenplay co-written by Crichton and David Koepp (Angels & Demons, Spider-Man). So, that summer in June, myself and three friends ventured into the theater to see dinosaurs come to life and that's what we got. Perhaps it was my age, perhaps it was having read the books, but I remember being vaguely underwhelmed, though at the same time I remember pretending I had...

Immediately after viewing it fans started to predict what might be in store for the fourth installment, and it.s now been suggested that the original Tyrannosaurus Rex from Steven Spielberg.s 1993 extravaganza will still be wreaking havoc. When the list of dinosaurs in Jurassic World was originally announced, most fans were instantly drawn to the T-Rex. However not many would have thought that the same T-Rex from Jurassic Park would still be walking around Isla Nublar. Alexi, and Joseph Mazzello.s Timothy at the conclusion of Jurassic Park is still alive and biting. But what could...

Not even two dodgy sequels and 21 years passing can erase the magic of the very first time you watched Jurassic Park.
The Steven Spielberg dino adventure brought gasps from audiences - young and old - when it premiered around the world in 1993. Even today, a couple of seconds of that classic score can give you tingles and take you back to first time you saw The Park.
Like all great films, everything felt and looked like it slotted together perfectly. But that wasn't necessarily the case, as there were plenty of other big-name stars who so very nearly got the lead roles.
1. Harrison Ford was nearly... Dr Alan Grant
If it wasn't already greedy enough that Harrison Ford had landed himself awesome cool roles in two of the biggest movie franchises of all time - Star Wars and Indiana Jones - he could have almost have added a third dino-sized...

It still amazes me how well the VFX in Jurassic Park holds up after all these years. Industrial Light and Magic is the team that amazingly brought the dinosaurs to life on the big screen. We have a fascinating featurette that you need to watch that focuses on bringing the live-action elements together with the VFX elements. It's really cool to get a before and after look at all the movie magic that had to happen to bring this classic film to life for us.
Here's a little trivia that gives some backstory on what Steven Spielberg needed to do to make this movie work.
Steven Spielberg didn’t want people to be constantly reminded that what they’re seeing is CGI, but real, full-blooded dinosaurs, starting with the Brachiosaur scene, where Spielberg was keen on the dinosaur interacting with the background, and would offer suggestions to the animators on how to make it better.

One of the most memorable nail-biting scenes in Steven Spielberg's classic Jurassic Park arrives near the climax, when a pair of deadly velociraptors stalk two children (Ariana Richards & Joseph Mazzello) through the park's massive kitchen. Since the film's release in 1993, dinosaur experts have revised their concept of the ancient predators; fossil evidence of feathered raptors suggests they might have resembled monstrous birds. While that might have made the scene play out quite a bit differently, they probably never imagined anything quite like this: Bangkok, Thailand-based production company We Are Camera Studio recently unveiled an awesome parody of that iconic scene... in which the raptors are digitally replaced with giant (but totally adorable) cats. The studio's YouTube clip has gone viral since it first surfaced last week (along with multiple riffs on a loop of Jeff Goldblum's character laughing), and as of this writing, it's approaching one million views.

With the 3D re-release for the 20th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s original 1993 classic earlier this year, there has finally been some real development on a potential fourth Jurassic Park film. Hollywood loves hackers. They’re an easy plot fix. Need some passwords? Get the hacker! Want an eye in the sky? Get the hacker! Gotta diffuse a bomb? Get. The. Hacker.
Look, I get it. When the hero inevitably runs into a dead end, I’m willing to suspend my disbelief and accept that a fictional hacker can solve everything. But it’s not 1995 anymore; computers are not relatively new inventions (and not everything you need is in them), so over time, these hacker scenes have only become more tedious than revolutionary.
Let’s start with the latest hacking-as-a-plot-point offender: this summer’s Elysium.

Chances are that you’ve already seen Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park.
