Jay-Z and Nas took a lot of heavy shots at each during their famous battle. Their feud caught major mainstream attention, with even a few stars sharing their feelings on the matter. One of those stars was Rosie Perez, who sided with Nas in their rap war.
What Rosie Perez had to say about Jay-Z during his battle with Nas Jay-Z | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Jay-Z and Nas’ former rivalry took a turn for the worst as their competition continued. Hip hop fans might remember Jay-Z attacking Nas first on the record “The Takeover,” where he criticized numerous rappers in the industry. Nas would retaliate with “Ether,” which many believed was the better diss record between the two.
But those weren’t the only diss records exchanged by the two veteran emcees. Jay-Z would answer Nas’ “Ether” with the much more personal diss track “Supa Ugly.” On that record, Jay-Z claimed...

Chris Pine, Cynthia Erivo, Kieran Culkin, Sharon Stone and Rosie Perez celebrated Jeff Bridges’ seven-decade career at the 49th annual Chaplin Awards Gala in New York City on Monday night. But the Big Lebowski star almost chose a different career path.
During his acceptance speech for the Film at Lincoln Center‘s prestigious honor, the True Grit star shared that he originally “resisted” the idea of pursuing acting full-time for a few different reasons.
“It made me nervous, anxious, and I had other things I wanted to do,” he told the full auditorium at Alice Tully Hall. “I was very much into music. I loved ceramics, painting, and who wants to do what their parents do anyway?”
He recalled his father, actor Lloyd Bridges, explaining to him that he could do all of those things in this career path and use them all to some degree, which was one of the beauties of the job.

Rosie Perez is crediting former co-star Jeff Bridges for her casting in “Fearless” (1993). Perez says the studio “had a problem” with their on-screen “interracial relationship,” but that Bridges went “to bat” for her.
“Fearless” was distributed by Warner Bros. It centered on Bridges’ character Max Klein surviving a plane crash and connecting with his fellow survivor (Perez). Isabella Rossellini and John Turturro co-starred.
“Early in my career, I had auditioned for ‘Fearless,’ directed by Peter Weir. Although I knew I nailed it, they could see I was really, really, extremely nervous, so I wasn’t really sure,” Perez said during the 2024 Chaplin Award Tribute gala honoring Bridges. “I was extremely surprised to get a callback – surprised because I also knew the studio didn’t want me for the role. Then they said for round two that they wanted me to meet with Jeff Bridges. Holy shit! That’s Jeff Bridges!

Jeff Bridges isn’t like other leading men. So goes the tale for over 50 years and 70 films. Where other actors of his generation—Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson—brought volume and bravado, Bridges excelled in the shadows. A charming pretty boy turned weary and soulful iconoclast, his characters have never been showy. As The Dude in “The Big Lebowski” or Bad Blake in “Crazy Heart,” he’s moved into his roles and lived in them—“enough,” as one critic wrote as early as 1973, “to make a picture worth seeing.”
“I’m not sure what to make of all that,” Bridges told Variety at Film at Lincoln Center Monday evening, where the actor received the prestigious Chaplin Award. “It’s shocking for myself to think about how many films I’ve done,” he said. “Each film is like a little lifetime. I was a reluctant actor at first. It took many...

We caught up with Marielle Heller on the carpet, whose long-awaited “Nightbitch,” based on Rachel Yoder’s fall 2021 debut novel of the same name, will finally release December 6, 2024. “The truth is, it got delayed because of the strike, which is fine, we needed to strike,” Heller told IndieWire.
“It was an important thing, but it’s hard to wait. It’s hard to be done with a movie and not have it come out,” Heller continued. “I don’t think I’m supposed to say something like this, but it’s kind of like having creative blue balls. We want...

At the top of the hour, just Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin sat at the show’s Hot Topics table, with Sara Haines clearly M.I.A. His supporting cast in The Matrix included Carrie-Anne Moss, Laurence Fishburne, and Hugo Weaving. Together, they delivered a movie that influenced a generation of filmmaking and holds up 25 years later. The Matrix may have been a surprise then, but now it’s no wonder the cast remains active in movies and TV.

The Flight Attendant will not be returning for a third season. The show, which was originally set as a limited series, aired two seasons on Max, with the second season ending in May 2022.
The move follows comments from star and executive producer Kaley Cuoco after the second season that the “plane had landed.” “I just kind of feel like we just ended,” she told People at the time.
The first season, which premiered in November 2020, followed Cuoco’s alcoholic, globe-trotting flight attendant Cassie Bowden who became embroiled in an espionage plot following her affair with a first class passenger, who winds up murdered after their night together.
The second season saw Bowden return with a fresh start in Los Angeles, sober and moonlighting as a CIA asset in her spare time. But when an overseas assignment leads her to inadvertently witness a murder, she becomes entangled in another international intrigue.

Nearly 10 years after first finding herself in hot water for comments about Latinos on The View, Kelly Osbourne is elaborating on her regret about the incident.
“I was a really broken, scared person,” Osbourne told Rolling Stone this week, referring to herself at the time of the 2015 backlash. “After that event, it kind of kickstarted me taking a long, hard look at myself.”
Osbourne’s comments came about during her stint as a guest host on The View, when she questioned the former president’s immigration ban by asking, “If you kick every Latino out of this country, then who is going to be cleaning your toilet, Donald Trump?”
At the time, The View co-host Rosie Perez responded by saying that “Latinos are not only — ” before Osbourne added, “I didn’t mean it like that. Come on! I would never mean it like that! I’m not part of this argument.

In the wake of the strikes and due to their popularity with stars and viewers, we expect a lot more limited series as time goes on. The talent they attract promises us the very best of the entertainment world at every level.
But all the news today isn't by way of a limited series. One of TV's hottest programs just cast one of its most significant franchise characters.

When you think about it, "Frasier" is one of the most unlikely success stories in TV history. Running from 1993 to 2004, the show is one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time and has recently returned some 20 years after it went off-air for a revival series currently streaming on Paramount+.
But a lot had to happen in order for this impressive multi-decade run to pan out. After the show on which Frasier Crane first debuted, "Cheers," almost crashed and burned during its first season, it went on to become the most celebrated sitcom of the '80s and still enjoys a legacy as one of the finest TV shows ever. In season 3 of the series, we were introduced to Dr. Crane for the first time. "Frasier" had a bevy of guest stars throughout its original eleven-season run, but you might not recognize some of them on first watch. That's because many of the most famous actors to appear on the beloved sitcom did so in voice only, calling into psychologist Frasier Crane's (Kelsey Grammer) Seattle radio show for all manner of life advice. Casting a celebrity who viewers never actually see felt like a new gimmick when the series first premiered, and it's frankly still a rarity now.
In an oral history of the series published by Vanity Fair in 2018, series co-creators Peter Casey and David Lee, casting director Jeff Greenberg, and director Jimmy Burrows talked about how the call-in guest stars idea originated, who showed up on the other end of the line, and which celebrities turned "Frasier" down. "Early on, someone suggested getting guest voices," Casey recalled. "Kelsey agreed, as long as they weren't goofy calls.

Actor Rosie Perez once teamed up with Alien filmmaker Ridley Scott in the 2013 ensemble piece The Counselor. Perez played a roughed up prisoner in the feature, which meant she had to begrudgingly downplay her good looks to fit the role.
Ridley Scott made Rosie Perez take off her make-up for ‘The Counselor’
The Counselor was a 2013 Scott picture starring Michael Fassbender as a successful lawyer who ends up involved in the world of underground crime. In case you’ve somehow forgotten how much middle school sucks, the trailer for the seventh season of Big Mouth is a fine reminder. There are guys having aggro freakouts in gym class, people’s crushes getting interested in other students, and, maybe worst of all, one student (John Mulaney’s character, Andrew Glouberman) is honored with the superlative “grossest human.”
“Yeah, I think it’s a compliment,” a gross monster tells him, as a quick flashback shows him groping a female student, maybe by accident. “You’re the G.

Spike Lee Reflects On 9/11 At TIFF, Shows Episode From HBO Docuseries ‘NYC Epicenters 9/11-2021 1/2’
When Spike Lee was asked by TIFF to head to the festival, he was fully aware on what date he’d be there — that being Sept. 11.
So he did the right thing.
“It didn’t take me long to think about what I wanted to show,” said the Oscar-winning BlacKkKlansman filmmaker.
And in a proper reflection on the day when New York City’s World Trade Center towers were destroyed in a terrorist attack, Lee decided to show off to the crowd here at the Glenn Gould Theatre an episode of his 2021 HBO docuseries, NYC Epicenters 9/11 to 2021 ½, which dives into the similarities and differences between Sept. 11 and the Covid crisis in New York City two decades later.
The episode begins with a Port Authority video about the construction of the edifice in the late 1960s and a placard shortly thereafter reading that 60 people died during the building of the 1,360-plus-foot towers.

With six Oscar nominations under his belt, Australian-born director Peter Weir has firmly established himself as one of our most respected filmmakers thanks to a number of visually striking, narratively ambitious movies. But how many of his titles remain classics? Let’s take a look back at all 13 of his movies, ranked worst to best.
Born in 1944, Weir helped usher in the Australian New Wave of cinema with “Picnic at Hanging Rock” (1975), “The Last Wave” (1977), “Gallipoli” (1981) and “The Year of Living Dangerously” (1983). He brought his unique brand of filmmaking to Hollywood with the romantic mystery “Witness” (1985), which brought him his first Oscar nomination for Best Director. He earned a subsequent bid in the category for the inspirational teacher drama “Dead Poets Society” (1989), competing once again for the media satire “The Truman Show” (1998) and the swashbuckling epic “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World” (2003), for which he also contended in Best Picture.

Julio Torres dared Hollywood studios Friday to “massively reinvent the way that they do business” and to do “the unthinkable: paying their CEOs just slightly less than obscene amounts of money.”
“Enough is enough with the greed,” he said while picketing in New York City, flanked by several recognizable stars, among them Susan Sarandon, Rosie Perez, Ariana DeBose and Wilson Cruz.
Torres — a former writer for “Saturday Night Live,” writer and star of HBO’s “Los Espookys” and writer, director and star of A24’s upcoming “Problemista” — spoke for five minutes to a cheering crowd about joining the masses across industries in the coined “Hot Strike Summer,” his experience moving to the United States from El Salvador during the Occupy Wall Street movement and the parallels he sees therein.
He also emphasized his hope that Hollywood studios will begin doing more than just lip service to the so-called American Dream...
