There may not be a front-runner following Wednesday's semi-finals on The X Factor, but there does seem to be a weakest link. Barring an early Mayan apocalypse, we all know that Tate Stevens and Carly Rose Sonenclar will make it to the X Factor finale, so there's not much to discuss there. The real race is between Simon Cowell's two remaining groups, Emblem3 and Fifth Harmony, as there's seemingly room for only one of them.
The thing is, we won't actually know who's bringing up the rear after this next elimination because the leaderboard is now officially in "blackout" mode, meaning they won't be revealing how the numbers shake out in...

Since Tate Stevens jumped back to the top of the rankings last week on "The X Factor," he seems in prime position to make it to next week's finals. But as we've seen throughout the season, it's not always easy to predict which acts will survive the weekly results shows.
Stevens wowed all four judges with his performance of Clay Walker's love song "Fall" -- which he dedicated to his wife less than one week after celebrating their 15th anniversary together -- but Britney Spears felt like Stevens' freewheeling first song, Craig Morgan's "Bonfire," wasn't his best.
"That's fine, let her do it," Stevens says in a post-show interview about Spears' comments. "Drink a little haterade every once in awhile, that's fine. I don't think [what Spears said] was really that bad. She didn't think it was my best performance, so it's fine. I take 'em, and I use what I can out of each criticism.

Tonight, 911 hotlines across the nation experienced system overloads as L.A. Reid committed first-degree blasphemy on The X Factor, lying to boy band Emblem3 that “you actually are teen heartthrobs like the Beatles.”
At the exact same moment, John Lennon and George Harrison pressed the “auto rotation” buttons in their graves (sponsored by Pepsi, Verizon wireless and Sony X Headphones). Hey, if Britney Spears doesn’t need to write her own critiques, why should two dearly departed members of the planet’s all-time most influential rock band have to spin themselves around when their names get taken in vain on Fox’s second-tier reality singing competition?...

Newspaper comic strip "Funky Winkerbean" is set to mark its 40th anniversary in groundbreaking style: by featuring a story arc about a gay couple planning to attend their high school prom together, and the consequences that ensue.
Beginning Monday April 30, "Winkerbean" cartoonist Tom Batiuk's storyline will depict the fictional Westview High School's debate over the same-sex couple's plan to attend the dance, "with one side demanding acceptance and the other side expressing intolerance," according to an email statement.
Batiuk says he was inspired by witnessing current high school students' attitudes towards the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (Lgbt) community. "As I sit in on the classes at my old high school, I see how the younger generation's attitude towards gays is more open and accepting than that of their predecessors," Batiuk, whose strip has also touched on teen pregnancy, suicide, cancer and alcoholism among other hot-button issues since it began running in 1972, said.

Washington -- Celebrities including Alec Baldwin visited Capitol Hill Tuesday to shine their spotlight on federal funding for the arts.
Baldwin and others including actors Hill Harper, Melina Kanakaredes, Tiffani Thiessen and singers Ben Folds and Clay Walker are part of the artistic delegation for Americans for the Arts. The nonprofit organization works to advance arts and arts education across the country.
Baldwin told a news conference that the arts stimulate children's education.
With about $147 million in federal funding for the National Endowment for the Arts this year, the group hopes to increase funding to $155 million next year.
Folds, who met with Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., to press for funding, credited art programs at public schools for his success today. The musician said the arts provide children with a "well-balanced curriculum."...

Washington -- Alec Baldwin reminded Washington journalists on Monday that he's one of the sharpest politically minded actors in Hollywood during an hourlong speech at the National Press Club. In the world of reality television, Survivor is known as the show where contestants go to “outwit, outlast, and outplay.” But that wouldn’t seem like such a bad motto for the current season of The Bachelor. On Monday night’s installment, set in scenic Park City, Utah, Ben’s tongue made alliances with five other women’s tongues (Rachel, Kacie B, Courntey, Nicki, and Jennifer); a group date found an octet of bachelorettes fly-fishing for their survival; and two future spinsters had their love-torches brutally snuffed. Let’s recap the action:

This week’s road trip took us to the home of Michelle Money and Bentley: Park City, Utah. We stayed at the Canyons resort, which has a beautiful Waldorf Astoria hotel and spa. If you get the opportunity, it’s well worth checking out this property, and Park City itself is incredible, especially the time of year we were there. As you could see, the trees had just changed and the scenery was breathtaking.
Rachel received the first one-on-one date, and although it got off to an upbeat start in a chopper, it was a rough ride in many ways.

The "Bachelor" girls pack up and head for a resort in Park City, Utah. The first one-on-one date is for Rachel, the blonde with the nose stud. Kacie's a sad panda about the other girls getting dates. She says the thought of Ben spending a whole day with someone else drives her crazy. She wants the experience to be over and the two of them just doing normal stuff together, like going to the grocery store.
I love you, Kacie, I really do - but did you not understand how this show works? Also, even if you're dating, he might spend time with other people. Stop sounding like a crazy girl who wants to kidnap him and make a doll out of his hair or something.
Rachel's Date
They leave on a helicopter and the girls freak out. Uh, was there a production assistant just off-screen poking at them with an electrified cattle prod?...

Check out these preview pictures from next Monday's (Jan. 23) episode of "The Bachelor." Ben takes Jennifer (the redhead whom he has dubbed the "best kisser" in the house) on a solo date for some adventure.

Lowering themselves into the dark abyss, they drop to the water and reunite for a kiss. Later that night, the couple enjoy a romantic rain-soaked outdoor dinner and a then a real treat: a private concert by country music superstar Clay Walker."
Fun stuff. Do you think Jennifer will get a rose on the date? We think she probably will. Ben seems to dig her and she's very bubbly and fun. She was definitely not one of the girls going postal over Shawntel, which we think is a huge indicator...

The highly-anticipated gay wedding issue of Archie Comics has finally been revealed.
The January issue's cover illustration shows Kevin Keller, Riverdale's first openly gay character who is also an active U.S. military officer, tying the knot with his African-American partner, Clay Walker. ComicsAlliance reported in October that the story of the couple's meeting, said to take place in a military hospital, "obviously deals with ['Don't Ask, Don't Tell'] but it doesn't spell it out for the reader," and may be revealed in flashback, according to Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater.
When the miniseries was announced in 2010, author Dan Parent told the Associated Press, "The world of Riverdale has to reflect contemporary culture and to show it is an accepting, diverse place. And that's why Kevin is important, to show that everybody is welcome in this all-American town we've embraced for over 70 years." Parent was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for creating the character.
