Lionsgate may have pushed the release date of The Crow remake back from June 7th to August 23rd yesterday, but they still promoted the film during their panel at CinemaCon today, showing attendees a new trailer. We don’t know when that trailer is going to be making its way online, but JoBlo’s own Lance Vlcek was in attendance and reports that the new trailer reveals more about the film’s story.
Writing from the panel, Lance said attendees were told this version of The Crow is “a complete re-imagining that is not meant to compete with the original. The Lionsgate rep made mention how the original graphic novel is different than the beloved movie and made a point that the trailer was divisive, but they want to tell this story for a new generation.” As for what was shown in the new trailer, Lance writes, “An afterlife way-station...

Bill Skarsgård is bringing “The Crow” back to life, literally. The breakout “It” star leads the new reimagining of the graphic novel that was infamously brought to the big screen in 1994. Bruce Lee’s son Brandon Lee originally played the lead role of Eric Draven, a man who comes back from the dead to take revenge on the man who murdered him and his fiancée. Lee was killed on set during the final days of production when a prop gun fired.
“The Crow” has been set for various remakes over the past 30 years, with Mark Wahlberg, Jason Momoa, Bradley Cooper, James McAvoy, Tom Hiddleston, and Skarsgård’s own brother Alexander Skarsgård all previously attached to different iterations.
Now, with director Rupert Sanders at the helm, Skarsgård is taking on playing rockstar Draven who is killed alongside his lover Shelly (FKA Twigs) by her ex (Danny Huston). Draven sets out to...

The exclusive first look at Bill Skarsgård as Eric Draven / The Crow in the eponymous supernatural superhero film has been unveiled, and the similarities of his get-up to that of a separate live-action iteration of another comic-book character haven’t gone unnoticed. After years of finding its way through development limbo, The Crow (2024) is set to be a reboot.

Helmed by Rupert Sanders and starring singer-songwriter FKA Twigs alongside Skarsgård, fans have long wondered if this modern-day big-screen rendition of the character will live up to Brandon Lee’s 1994 film, which was a cult classic and remained largely unrivaled by the three other films that followed it.
The first few reactions to the latest unveiling have suggested that Skarsgård’s metamorphosis into the anti-hero parallels Jared Leto’s Joker in the catastrophic Suicide Squad (2016). The resemblance is quite uncanny.

AMC unveiled the first scene from the much-anticipated upcoming second season of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire during their New York Comic Con panel and then – fortunately – made it available online. The nearly four-minute scene shows Santiago (Ben Daniels) guiding a group that includes Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) and Claudia (now played by Delainey Hayles) to a mansion. After using his particular set of skills to determine the layout and the number of humans inside, Santiago and most of the group enter to feast on the unsuspecting occupants.
However, Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Armand (Assad Zaman) remain outside, flirting and getting to know each other.
Not shown but also returning for season two are Sam Reid as Lestat and Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy
Season one premiered on October 2, 2022 and wrapped up on November 6, 2022. Season two is currently shooting in Prague and is targeting a 2024 premiere.

Chicago – I’ll never forget the moment I became a fan of Ralph Fiennes. It was while watching the behind-the-scenes documentary on the “Prince of Egypt” DVD. He was voicing the scene where his character, Ramses, shouts at Moses across the Red Sea. As he stood next to the mic, Fiennes’ entire body underwent a transformation, as if he were summoning a storm that coursed through his veins. He then let out the sort of howl that could easily part water.
The sheer largeness and theatricality of some Fiennes performances can easily drift into hamminess (as in the final act of “Deathly Hallows: Part 2”), but in his directorial debut, the actor strikes the perfect balance between prideful indignation and wounded strength, with a few bursts of blood-curdling ferocity. After taking on the titular tragic hero of “Coriolanus” onstage, Fiennes reprises the role in an ambitious modernization of Shakespeare’s under-appreciated masterwork.

Chicago – Though Chicago’s John Cusack is perhaps best known for his beloved roles as a down-to-earth charmer in “Say Anything” and “High Fidelity,” he’s no stranger to exploring the troubling depths of darkness. He’s engaged the dangerous obsessions of his neurotic puppeteer in Spike Jonze’s “Being John Malkovich” or the horrific visions of his paranormal writer in Mikael Håfström’s “1408”.
In James McTeigue’s period thriller, “The Raven,” Cusack tackles perhaps his darkest role to date: the legendary poet and writer, Edgar Allan Poe. The film blends history and fiction a la “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” as Poe hunts down a serial killer whose crimes are modeled after the author’s goriest tales. During an April press conference at Chicago’s C2E2 convention, Cusack said that he admired Poe for being a “highbrow guy” who somehow managed to “write pulp Saturday afternoon thrillers” as well...

“Nature teaches beasts to know their friends”. Coriolanus (Act II, Scene I)
In Ralph Fiennes’ directorial debut, watch the UK trailer for Coriolanus starring Fiennes, Gerard Butler, Vanessa Redgrave, James Nesbitt, Jessica Chastain and Brian Cox. The film showed In Competition at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival earlier this year.
As to Coriolanus’ Academy Awards hopes, Anne Thompson of indieWIRE recently wrote, “Vanessa Redgrave, as his Machiavellian mother Volumnia, could win the Oscar for best supporting actress. She is extraordinary as a naturally beautiful older woman who is powerful yet maternal, wicked yet loving, logical yet insane.”
Based on William Shakespeare’s tragedy, The Weinstein Company will release the film in the U.S. on December 2, 2011.

Chicago – Nothing like a summer surprise at the movies to make the season a little more tolerable. Selena Gomez and the ubiquitous Leighton Meester take a sumptuous trip and brings us along in “Monte Carlo.”
Rating: 4.0/5.0
Using the old “Prince and the Pauper” theme, Monte Carlo creates a bubbly, amusing film with the old stagecraft of mistaken identity and the multiple slamming doors that result. It also is a pretty decent travelogue, going from the sights of Paris to the titular city of Monte Carlo in expressive and awe-inspiring shots. It seems everyone had a great time on their working vacation.
Grace (Selena Gomez) is a dreamer, looking the shake the dust off the small-time Texas town she is currently residing in. Her mother Pam (Andie McDowell) is remarried and Grace has a shaky relationship with her stepsister, Meg (Leighton Meester). But two things are coming up roses for Grace,...

It’s an all-too-familiar tale: Small-town girl on the cusp of adulthood decides to take a trip to some fabulous place where she can find herself. Grace (Gomez) has just graduated from high school ready to ditch her boring waitressing job in Texas and hop a plane to Paris with her best friend Emma (Katie Cassidy of TV’s “Melrose Place”). You probably know that I'm not usually one for this sort of thing, but in this case I'm a fan of Cusack, Poe, Gleeson... and this is a pretty cool picture.
If you haven't heard of this one at all, The Raven (working title) is coming out in the early part of next year, and it stars John Cusack as Edgar Allen Poe - serial killer hunter... or something.
Check out the scoop on the film below, what there is of it, and check out Cusack looking very... well, you tell me.
In this gritty thriller, Edgar Allen Poe (John Cusack, Being John Malkovich) joins forces with a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans, Immortals) to hunt down a mad serial killer who’s using Poe’s own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders. Directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta), the film also stars Alice Eve...
