Reese Witherspoon, Paul Feig, Jackie Hoffman and Christopher Meloni are among the Hollywood notables paying tribute to Raquel Welch, who died at age 82.
Welch’s management confirmed her death to The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday. The star was known for such film roles in the 1960s and ’70s as Fantastic Voyage, One Million Years B.C., Bedazzled, Kansas City Bomber and The Three Musketeers.

On July 17, 1987, director Paul Verhoeven’s Robocop hit theaters. The Orion Pictures sci-fi actioner went on to gross 53 million that summer and launched a franchise. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review is below:
It’s 1991 and Detroit needs a new sheriff. Even a Magnum-shooting muscleman won’t do. Motown’s taken its murder capital reputation seriously, and things are now way out of control. Normal cops can’t handle it. The new gun brought to town is large, metal, computerized and impregnable … It’s part man/part machine and Robocop can wipe out all in its path.
Similarly, this well-crafted, science-fiction actioner should wipe up massive body counts at the box office for Orion. While those whose tastes don’t include the spectacle of large machines noisily blasting at each other are not likely to be enticed by Robocop, this shocked look at...

Robert Altman’s ‘The Player’ Is a Death-of-Hollywood Thriller That Reconnects You to Movies (Column)
If you’ve never seen Robert Altman’s “The Player,” it would be hard, offhand, to think of a great movie that’s more fun or one that gives you a headier buzz. But even if you have seen Altman’s virtuoso inside-Hollywood satire-that’s-not-really-a-satire, you should see it again, because it’s one of those Altman films that keeps on giving — and there’s a way that it speaks to aspects of our current moment with surprising force. It’s a comedy of starstruck corruption that’s really about how Americans learned to stop worrying and love the dark side.
I hadn’t seen “The Player” since it came out, in 1992, and though it was my favorite film of that year, watching it again this weekend I was shocked to see what a thriller it is. As in: edge-of-your-seat, suck-in-your-breath, Omg-did-that-just-happen? suspenseful. (There’s a faxed message that will make your heart stop.

All 15 seasons of “The Apprentice” franchise, NBC’s quasi-reality TV show that catapulted Donald Trump to national fame, are now available to binge-watch online — for free.
Tubi inked a licensing pact for the show with MGM Television, giving the ad-supported VOD provider exclusive streaming rights to all 192 episodes. Tubi on Monday (May 6) is launching the full set, which includes the original Trump-fronted “The Apprentice” (6 seasons) and follow-on “Celebrity Apprentice” (8 seasons) as well as the single season of “The New Celebrity Apprentice” hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
It’s the first time that full seasons of “The Apprentice” and its offshoots have become available on any streaming service, although the show has been available on DVD. MGM, which is one of Tubi’s strategic investors, has previously licensed other titles to the startup. The studio owns the rights to “The Apprentice,” created by Mark Burnett, who is now chairman of MGM’s worldwide television group.

Emmy-winning entertainment news journalist Leeza Gibbons listed a residential compound she and husband Steve Fenton used as shared office space in a fashionable neighborhood of West Hollywood, Calif., with an asking price of $3.795 million. The former “Entertainment Tonight” host and 2015 winner of “The Celebrity Apprentice” purchased the property in 2011 for $1.199 million and the many-gabled, somewhat Tudor-ish main house, behind a charming, vine-draped vintage brick and white picket fence, has three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms in a bit more than 2,000-square feet. A separate and self-contained guesthouse, where Gibbons’ elder adult son once lived, offers another bedroom and bathroom.

It makes sense that former Entertainment Tonight and Leeza host Leeza Gibbons launched a new yoga video series. After building her dream home in Beverly Hills with her business partner and husband, Steven Fenton, a few years ago, she found she needed some tranquility! "We drove ourselves crazy looking at land and teardowns for 18 months, and then we were in construction for another 18 months," Leeza, 60, exclusively told Closer Weekly in a new interview. "We learned a lot of patience." And when they saw the completed five-bedroom, six-bath home, it was all worth it. "To us, it feels like a warm, casually traditional, Cape Cod-inspired home on a tree-lined street," Leeza said. (Photo Credit: Closer Weekly) After she and Steven, 48, bought the place four years ago, "we lovingly restored it from the studs up," she revealed. "We kept the basic footprint, but opened the entry and extended the house toward the...

Amber Heard was honored at the fourth annual Unite4:Humanity gala on Friday for her humanitarian work with the American Civil Liberties Union (Aclu) — but had to leave the event before accepting the award.
The 30-year-old actress walked the red carpet at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel earlier in the night, posing for photographers in a pair of black pants and a white blouse with a black bow.
Inside the dining room of the hotel, she sat at a table with friends Cara Delevingne, photographer iO Tillett Wright and sister Whitney Heard – but appeared to be visibly upset about something.

"I looked at American society in a kind of dazed way when I was doing RoboCop," director Paul Verhoeven told Den of Geek UK a few years ago. Back in the mid-80s, when he was better known for his Dutch films like Soldier Of Orange and The Fourth Man, Verhoeven was still getting used to the pace and tone of American culture - and his outsider status arguably fed into the wry, spikily satirical edge in all three sci-fi films he made while in Hollywood.

Donald Trump made two big announcements during The Celebrity Apprentice season 7 finale. At the end of the night, he declared Leeza Gibbons the winner over Geraldo Rivera, but he also revealed that the show is being renewed for a 15th season (which will be the eighth celebrity edition).
The Apprentice returned this year after an almost two-year absence from the NBC schedule. Low ratings were likely to blame for the long delay, but the network did renew the series, so it was only a matter of time before the show would return. NBC ended up airing season 8 in The Voice timeslot between seasons of the singing competition show, and aired two episodes back to back every week so that it would conclude in time for The Voice premiere.
