If there was one thing that was going to tempt movie-goers into cinemas for some mid-budget vampire action in 2003, it was probably Bill Nighy as a vampire overlord. Or, was it the marketing campaign featuring a leather clad Kate Beckinsale? I’ll let you decide… The early noughties had already brought some decent vampire action, before we were subjected to the shimmering embarrassment to the genre that was the Twilight saga. We were also just a few short years away from seeing some proper kick-ass, sexy vampire action on the small screen with Hbc’s excellent True Blood series. The vampire genre was starting to show some signs of a re-awakening, and films such as the fun but flawed Queen of the Damned from 2002 and, of course, the awesome Blade series, were leading the bloodsucking way.
Vampires have always been a popular form of escapism for audiences and they’re still massively popular now.

Miranda Bailey has five rules, and we have all those great callbacks to make us nostalgic.
Who wasn't smiling from ear to ear after Grey's Anatomy Season 20 Episode 1 concluded with Bailey uttering her iconic intro words?
Grey's Anatomy is back, baby! And we're breaking into the 20th season with Meredith Grey and a lot of drama.
The premiere picked up where Grey's Anatomy Season 19 Episode 20 left off, with Teddy fighting for her life and all hell breaking loose because of the interns' actions.
And the M.V.P. of that debacle had to be Nick. Scott Speedman and his roguish good looks were back for the premiere, to a girl's delight because no one could express the level of exasperation with M.A.G.Y.K., the sequel, like Nick.

In her Season 20 preview for Deadline, new Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Meg Marinis called it “back to basics,” and the season premiere, which she wrote, offered just that. In a return to Grey’s early years, the episode ended with Bailey retaking charge of the surgical interns.
The opener started with the interns facing the music after getting themselves in trouble with questionable medical decisions in the Season 19 finale and Nick posing a question to them, “Which one of you am I firing?”
Banned from any doctor duties, the group find themselves in the middle of the action anyway. Simone and Lucas end up in the back of an ambulance trying to stabilize a patient with Bailey and Meredith’s directions while their parked vehicle is being hit by a wayward self-driving car every couple of minutes. (It is unclear why the ambulance was not moved away from the crashing car.

Note: This story contains spoilers from the “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 20 premiere.
“Grey’s Anatomy” hit the reset button in the aftermath of its traumatic Season 19 finale, including the exit of one of their own. By the end of the Season 20 premiere, Dr. Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman) announced he’d be leaving Grey Sloan Memorial to reunite with Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) at her new home in Boston.
His last move as residency director was passing the torch to the now Catherine Fox award-winning Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson), effectively bringing the series back to basics with her taking charge of teaching the hospital’s latest class of interns.
“I feel like if anyone can bring these interns back from what just happened, it’s the person who helped create doctors like Meredith Grey and Cristina Yang and Alex Karev,” showrunner Meg Marinis told TheWrap. “Bailey doesn’t always get the credit that she deserves.

Grey’s Anatomy is headed into its 20th season, and that big milestone is front and center in the series’ official poster, which features cast members arranged around the number 20. Like last year’s official cast photo, this year’s poster includes the main cast, plus recurring guest stars Debbie Allen (who is also Grey’s executive producer/director) and Scott Speedman. Naturally, the three remaining original cast members, Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr., are most prominent.(As Deadline reported in our Season 20 preview, Pompeo, who is an executive producer, will continue to get top billing. Let’s rewind the clock to 2008, when Brian Bertino’s The Strangers first crept into our collective nightmares. The setup was deceptively simple: Kristen (Liv Tyler) and James (Scott Speedman) anticipated nothing more than a serene weekend at a secluded family vacation home. However, serenity was the last thing they found. Their ordeal began with an unsettling visit from a mysterious woman at the door. The real horror,...

What do you do when they come for you? Beloved horror franchise “The Strangers” is getting a revamp, courtesy of prequel “The Strangers: Chapter 1” starring “Riverdale” alum Madelaine Petsch. Two more sequels are due later this year, all from “Die Hard 2” and “Cliffhanger” director Renny Harlin.
In this first film, Petsch stars as a young woman who is trying to start a new life with her fiancé. Yet, during a road trip stop in a remote vacation rental in the woods, the couple become the prey of a mysterious gang of masked strangers who attack without warning or reason. Froy Gutierrez, Gabriel Basso, and Ema Horvath co-star.
Sure, it may sound like a run-of-the-mill slasher, but “The Strangers” franchise has a haunting allure, thanks to its creation by filmmaker Bryan Bertino. The director has a “story by” credit for “Chapter 1,” which is helmed by Harlin and written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland.

And much to our delight, Meredith Grey is back!
ABC has released photos of Grey's Anatomy Season 20 Episode 1, and we can't wait to figure out everything that the season premiere will throw our way.
One of the most exciting things we notice immediately is that Ellen Pompeo and Scott Speedman will be guest-starring in the premiere.
The happy couple professed their love to one another and returned to Boston to continue with their lives.
But that doesn't mean they didn't have unfinished business at Grey Sloan Memorial.
As we know, Meredith Grey is still an authoritative figure at the hospital, especially regarding the intern program.

Scott Speedman has won over Grey's Anatomy fans with his performance as Dr. Nick Marsh.
But he might soon be facing much gorier medical emergencies in a new and very different role.
Variety reported today that Speedman has been cast in a lead role on the upcoming Peacock horror series Teacup.
The show is based on a beloved novel by Robert McCammon that's not for the faint of heart.
While the book takes place in Texas, the series follows “a disparate group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive.”
Speedman will be playing the role of James Chenoweth, alongside Yvonne Strahovski, who will star as his wife, Maggie Chenoweth.
Teacup comes courtesy of Atomic Monsters, the production company founded by James Wan, the director responsible for the Saw and Conjuring franchises.
So yeah, squeamish Grey's fans might want to skip this one.

When it comes to ABC’s latest teaser for Grey’s Anatomy Season 20, we can’t help but notice how much Ellen Pompeo‘s Dr. Meredith Grey gets the focus despite her transition to a guest starring role. The previous season saw Meredith relocating to Boston, but as the teaser indicates, she will be popping in and out of Seattle and be back at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in at least a few episodes. The teaser above begins with Meredith questioning Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) about “how long do I have to wait,” although we don’t quite know what she’s waiting for. We also see Bailey tell Meredith that the interns are facing a few challenges, and Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman) makes a return to Grey Sloan, threatening to fire a few following the Season 19 finale, where Meredith and he confessed to each other in Boston. And, of course,...

Milo Ventimiglia was just 19 years old and starting out in Hollywood when he was cast as a gay teen in the 1996 short, “Must Be the Music.” You’d think his team would have advised him not to play queer, but Ventimiglia says he received nothing but support to sign on.
“I played a gay teenager who is going out with his friends, meets a guy but his buddy’s best friend is already kind of sweet on that guy,” Ventimiglia remembered. “Then he ends up giving them a ride home and he gets the guys number. It was a very sweet story.”
The short was produced by Gus Van Sant.
“That’s the great thing about being an actor,” the “This Is Us” star said at the Film Independent Spirit Awards on Sunday. “You play a lot of different roles. You represent a lot of roles. You represent a lot of stories.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 20 is on its way with several new changes, including the shift of Ellen Pompeo‘s Meredith Grey from series regular to recurring, as well as the return of Jessica Capshaw as Dr. Arizona Robbins. As recently confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, Pompeo is only expected to appear in four episodes during the season. So of course, many are speculating that some Meredith storylines will be dropped in this strikes-shortened, 10-episode season. Although ABC says she may appear in more installments, reps have declined to comment further, fueling the speculation. No matter what, some things need to be addressed about the titular Dr. Grey in the future this season, and these are the three most pressing. Is Nick Marsh the Next Great Romance for Meredith? The last we saw of Scott Speedman’s Nick Marsh, he was in Boston reuniting with Meredith for the first time in a while.

When Grey’s Anatomy burst onto the scene and washed over the competition in 2005, Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith Grey was front and center.
That all changed in 2023 when the original star departed as a series regular, dropping down to a recurring status.
As promotional material for Grey’s Anatomy Season 20 has trickled out, Meredith has been heavily featured in scenes that highlight her return to Seattle.
Beyond that, there was no confirmation of how long Pompeo would be on-screen.
Until now.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the beloved actress will appear in at least four episodes of the strike-shortened season.
Could Ellen Pompeo return for more episodes of Grey’s Anatomy Season 20?
Four episodes of a 10-episode season isn’t bad, but the outlet notes that Pompeo may appear in more than that.
At the time of her departure, Pompeo was set to produce and star in a limited series for Hulu.

It may be difficult to think of a film series that is more aesthetically dated than the "Underworld" movies, and I include certain century-old silent movies in that statement. The first "Underworld" film was released in the fall of 2003, and it was infused with all the genre trappings of its era. The long black leather coats, the blue-tinted photography, the use of slow-motion, and the stoic-yet-capable badass heroes all reek of post-"Matrix" malaise, appealing only to young people who were 16 in September of 2003. What's more, the film's soundtrack featured some terrible metal tunes that old-world metalheads found to be shrill and whiny. Sorry, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, and The Icarus Line.
The premise of "Underworld" sounds fun on paper, but the bleak, steely tone of the movie made the movie less-than-fun to watch. For centuries, vampires and werewolves — called Lycans — have been at war, killing each other out of sight from the human world.

If you thought Grey’s Anatomy was losing its luster, the official trailer for Grey’s Anatomy Season 20 will wash away those concerns.
With new episodes set to get underway on Thursday, March 14, at 9/8c, ABC is kicking off the promotional train relatively early.
The first footage teases plenty of big storylines, including Ellen Pompeo’s return as Meredith Grey and the fate of one of Grey Sloane Memorial’s most popular faces.
While it’s unclear how many episodes Pompeo will be back for, it’s interesting that we’re getting so many spoilers about where her storyline will be at.
As you’ll recall, Meredith left Seattle for Boston, but there were still plenty of questions about where she would go next, including her romantic life.
Of course, we’ve watched her relationship with Nick (Scott Speedman) and its ups and downs.

She’s baaack! Ellen Pompeo‘s on-screen status as Meredith Grey in the upcoming 20th season of “Grey’s Anatomy” has remained a mystery … up until now. The actress was always expected to do the voice-over narration for the new episodes, but what about actually appearing on TV’s longest-running primetime medical series ever? Well, the mystery has been solved thanks to ABC’s just-released “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 20 video trailer (watch above).
“How long do I have to wait?” Meredith asks at the start of the 60-second promo. The answer for fans is exactly 43 days, because the first of the 10 new episodes will premiere on Thursday, March 14, 2024. It’s hard to believe Grey’s Anatomy has been on the air for almost 20 years.
As a midseason replacement back in 2005, the show wasn’t expected to break out in the way it has done.
Despite big casting shake-ups, it remains one of ABC’s most popular dramas and will likely be on the air for countless more years.
With Grey’s Anatomy Season 20 just around the corner, it’s time to take a look at everything we know about the milestone season.
We even have an update on Ellen Pompeo’s return as Meredith Grey.
Get all the details below.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 20: when will it premiere?
The medical drama will return from an extended hiatus on Thursday, March 14, at 9/8c.
Unlike previous years, it will air out of 9-1-1, which is moving from Fox.

The horror genre is generally best known for its monsters, ghosts, ghouls, zombies and other weird and wonderful supernatural creatures. Which is great, because we love it all the more for those classic staples. However, some of the most effective horror movies do not rely upon those things, and as playfully gross as they are, they live in the realm of fantasy, so audiences can generally dissociate them from the real world. So, when a horror movie begins and you see the words ‘based upon a true story’, it makes the terror that follows, all the more serious and intense. If you’re one of those people who’s scared easily by horror movies, you can comfort yourself by saying, ‘well, it’s only a movie’, but if you know that what you’re watching actually occurred, then it’s harder to escape from. The genre has many examples of...

Froy Gutierrez (Cruel Summer) and Gabriel Basso (Hillbilly Elegy) also star in the movie, which is being plotted as a trilogy.
The original movie was a home invasion pic that Bryan Bertino wrote and directed in his feature debut, with Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman starring. It was followed up by a sequel in March 2018, The Strangers: Prey at Night. Together they made over $113M at the global box office.

Scott Speedman of The Strangers and Underworld has joined Jurnee Smollett (Birds of Prey) and Isabel May of the Yellowstone prequel series 1883 in the thriller Sunflower – and according to The Hollywood Reporter, Speedman will be playing the villain in the film!
Sunflower will mark the feature directorial debut of writer Misha Green. She and Smollett previously worked together on the TV shows Underground and Lovecraft Country. Green created Underground with Joe Pokaski and developed Lovecraft Country from the Matt Ruff novel. Her first directing credit was on an episode of Lovecraft Country.
After spending more than a decade in development hell, Sunflower is finally moving forward at Lionsgate. The screenplay Green wrote for the film was so highly regarded that it was on the Black List back in 2008. The story follows two young women who are held hostage in a prison-like farmhouse by a deranged college professor. As they struggle to survive,...

“Lovecraft Country” creator Misha Green will be making her feature directorial debut with Lionsgate’s Sunflower, and THR reports that actor Scott Speedman has been tapped to play the film’s villain.
In Sunflower, two women struggle to escape from a deranged college professor who holds them hostage on a remote sunflower farm.
Speedman joins previously announced cast members Jurnee Smollett (“Lovecraft Country”) and Isabel May (“1883”). Smollett and May play the two women attempting to escape the deranged college professor played by Speedman.
Green wrote the script and will also produce alongside Craig J. Flores.
“Everyone at our studio was completely drawn in by the way Misha, Jurnee, and the ‘Lovecraft Country’ team worked so confidently to create a compelling genre series – then subverted the genre and reinvented it through a new lens,” said Nathan Kahane, President of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. “That’s the opportunity with Sunflower. The screenplay is unique,...
