Rahul Bose, who last featured in the film Dil Dhadkne Do, has been missing from the Bollywood circuit, but now we hear that the actor is all set to return to films with his second directorial venture. In fact, Bose will be bringing the story of Malavath Poorna, the youngest girl to scale the fearsome Mount Everest, in his first home production. The film will apparently follow the story of Poorna, a poor adivasi girl from Telengana who created history on May 25, 2014, by becoming the youngest girl in the world to scale the Mount Everest. She was just 13 when she pitched the Indian flag at 6 am, followed by Sadanapalli Anand, another 17-year-old tribal student from the remote Khammam district, a couple of hours later. Both were students of the Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Schools, mentored by its secretary Dr Rs Praveen Kumar whose character will be played by Rahul.

Mani Ratnam's 1988 melodrama Tamil melodrama Agni Natchathiram is now being remade into Hindi by one of his most ardent disciples Bejoy Nambiar. Nambiar has been closely associated with Mani Ratnam and has assisted him on several of his films. When Bejoy made his directorial debut with Shaitaan, Mani Ratnam went out of his way to support his protege. It therefore comes as no surprise to know that Bejoy will now remake a Mani Ratnam film. However the fact that Agni Natchathiram has already been re-made into Hindi does make Bejoy's aspirations somewhat redundant. Mani's film was remade in 1992 as Vansh with Siddharth Ray and Sudesh Berry cast as two warring step brothers. The film directed by action director Pappu Varma was a stunted stilted stiff and vapid remake of Mani's film. It bombed. Bejoy's film will star Harshvardhan Rane and Vicky Kaushal as the step brothers. When I asked...

One of the consequences of love is “heart break.”
Perhaps enivitable, but as the wise words advise: it is better to have loved and lost than not loved at all.

With everyone involved in Raanjhanaa heaping praise on everyone involved, the expectiation are mounting quite high. The music by A.R.Rahman hasn’t helped with each song as its released taking over the charts. So how does Raanjhanaa stand out from all the other love stories B-town produces? The cast says its much more than that.
“It’s political, philosophical, comical, dramatic and most of all, relatable. And therein lies its strength” Abhay Deol says when speaking about the film with Times of India. Leading lady Sonam Kapoor is presently working on Nupur Asthana’s untitled next, calls it a “small-town film with a big heart” while costar Dhanush says the film became a journey for him. But for the main man behind the film, director Anand L Rai, says he had his reasons for making this film.

Raj Nidimoru and Krishna Dk have been trailblazers for quite a while on the film scene. Widening the scope of the crossover market with their debut Flavours, to their sleeper hit with Shor in the City, the duo are now taking up the zombie film and their most genre-oriented film to date with Go Goa Gone. Following three slackers on their journey for the best party in Goa, and throwing zombies and the gun-toting Boris into the mix, Go Goa Gone looks to be a hilarious ride. The film is produced by Saif Ali Khan’s Illuminati Films and stars Kunal Khemu, Vir Das, Anand Tiwari, Puja Gupta, and Khan as the wacky Russian, Boris. We caught up with Raj, who took the time out from editing, and promotions to chat about his and Dk’s creative process, the zombie genre, and the music.

A comedy. A horror-thriller. An action-adventure. Go Goa Gone is all of these rolled into one! A unique combination of fear and funny makes this film a one-of-a-kind genre bender – A Zombie Comedy, or Zomcom! It’s no mean feat to match steps to a song that has been immortalised by Madhuri Dixit-Nene. But looks like Rohan Sippy was confident of being able to pull it through. The director has revived Madhuri’s iconic Dhak Dhak song in his upcoming film Nautanki Saala, with the three actresses – Evelyn Sharma, Pooja Salvi and Gaelyn Mendonca.
Says Pooja, “I’m a big Madhuri fan and her Dhak Dhak is among the best songs ever choreographed. It was a dream to dance to its remixed version.” While Gaelyn accepts that she had to “work very, very hard to get the moves right, Evelyn adds, “I became nervous when I heard that we were going to perform to Dhak Dhak. Who can have the audacity and courage to dance to a number that Madhuri Dixit has immortalised on screen! But Rohan said that since we are all newcomers, there would not be much comparison.

The makers of the movie Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai will be using lyrics written by the late lyricist Anand Bakshi in their film. Producer Ashim Samantha has acquired the rights of the lyrics from Anand Bakshi's sons to compose these songs. Anand Bakshi has been associated with the industry for almost 40 years and contributed to more than 4000 songs. He has written the lyrics for films like Bobby, Amar Akbar Anthony, Sholay, Kati Patang, Ddlj, Dil To Paagal Hai and Taal to name a few. Music director Anu Malik says, "I was working on the music of Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai when Ashim came up to me and asked me to read a few lyrics. I loved it immediately. The music duo brothers Anand-Milind are back! They were successful award winning music-directors throughout the eighties and nineties, having composed for around 200 Bollywood films. Remembered for hit soundtracks such as Qayamat se qayamat tai, Dil and Beta, amongst many others, the duo have contributed to film successes for all three of the top Khans and also had a successful partnership with Govinda and David Dhawan.
However, the duo could not really make a successful transition into the 21st century, with no memorable soundtracks in the last decade. They are now back with the film Yeh Khula Aasmaan, which is due for release on 25th May. The film is inspired by a true story and portrays the extremely challenging phase of an Iit-aspirant young boy on the verge of succumbing to academic failures, and highlights the value of strong familial systems to help nurse bruised young minds.

A behind the scenes look into the contemporary world of Bollywood movies and Bollywood stars. What?s hot, what?s not; how things work and who are the people pushing the buttons that make it work.–Udita Jhunjhunwala
The last few years have seen a surge in independent films with modest budgets and actors, as opposed to stars, in their cast making waves in Bollywood. Examples would stretch back to Khosla Ka Ghosla and forwards to Love, Sex Aur Dhokha, Udaan and last month?s release Shor in the City.
Shor in the City
The constrained budget of these films leaves limited resources for publicity and promotions. The producers certainly do not have surplus funds to ?buy? media and thereby influence public opinion. Over the last few years the trend has been for the directors and producers of these films to host multiple private screenings of their films weeks before release.

The award for most 'Underrated Actor' over and over again has been given to Aftab Shivdasani by fans and admirers. He was a Rgv debutant who wooed the ladies with Mast and later went onto impress the critics with Kasoor. However, what poor Aftab could never do is win the box office lotto! While the actor was part of some hits such as Masti and Awara Paagal Deewana, he's yet to have a solid blockbuster he can call his own.

A.R. Rahman brought Indian music to the ears and hearts of millions in the west with the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack but has proved he's so much more than just "Jai Ho" on his 16-city world tour, Jai Ho The Journey Home. After an unfortunate accident that caused Rahman's summer show in Toronto to be rescheduled, the Acc finally hosted this musical legend on Sunday night with thousands of fans singing along to hits from Indian films like Lagaan, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Dil Se, Rang De Basanti, Roja and of course, Slumdog Millionaire. Joined by dozens of dancers, singers and musicians on stage, Rahman offered the crowd a dazzling performance to compliment music that spanned a handful of decades and genres in a single night. The dynamic stage set evoked a golden palace, with a pair of movable staircases lifting the performers above the crowd. Just as often,...

Those in the know have been buzzing about Yeasayer's Odd Blood for months now, ever since the Brooklyn avant-pop aesthetes released the first single, a delightfully loopy slab of weirdness called "Ambling Alp."
Since then, both the band and the album have slowly started picking up accolades (we highlighted them last month during MTV News' Rock Week), and now, it's not inconceivable to think that Blood might be this year's version of Merriweather Post Pavilion, the Animal Collective effort that was already being hailed "The Best Album of 2009" from the day it was released in January.

Apart from being a gifted actor, Mayank Anand is also a commendable writer whose upcoming debut novel, Love from the Sidelines, is all set to hit the stores. But not many people know that this blue-eyed boy of the small screen also has an artistic side! He devotes time regularly to his paintings and one of his gorgeous paintings now adorns the cover page of his book.
“Yes, I painted it while I was writing the book,” Mayank remembers fondly. “It has all the emotions that the book has. I didn’t plan to put it on the cover. It’s only when the book was.

Exposure has become a norm in Bollywood. Rani Mukharji in Dil Bole Hadippa, Priyanka Chopra in Dostana, Kareena Kapoor in Kambaqt Ishq, Minisha Lamba in Kidnap…. The list of bikini wearers goes on. Earlier models like Milind Soman and Madhu Sapre, too, had taken a bolder step.
They had shot without clothes with only a python wrapped around their body. This means that models have already been a step ahead of Bollywood in glamour and exposure.
Keeping this tradition alive, Shaurya Chauhaan and Bunny Anand, too have shot for an ad. And it’s hotter and steamier than the bikini babes..

Like Short Kut, another film is the subject matter of a court case for the same reason– its title. Rahat Kazmi’s Dekh Bhai Dekh was scheduled for release last Friday week, but it had to be postponed as Anand Mahendroo, maker of the TV serial of the same name, sought a stay on its release as he objected to the title. Now Kazmi’s film has been retitled Dekh Re Dekh and it will finally release tomorrow.
The matter was in the Delhi high court and was heard on 8th July when the film’s producers asked for time to prove that the title was theirs. The confusion.

Popular TV series Dekh Bhai Dekh maker Anand Mahendroo, who was about to begin shooting for the film version of Dekh Bhai Dekh, is now left fuming over the release of Rahat Kazmi’s black comedy thriller by the same title.
Mahendroo had registered the title a year ago but claims that some mischief has taken place and it has landed with Rahat Kazmi who is making a comedy starring stars such as Gracy Singh, Manish Koirala’s brother Siddharth, Vijay Raaz and Raghuveer Yadav. This film is about to release in mid- June. Mahendroo plans to begin the shoot of his film too around that time but he is not at all happy with the title dilemma. He states that his Dekh Bhai Dekh is synonymous with Shekhar Suman and Farida Jalal and any another.
