- Between 1924 and 1945, worked for RCA Victor as director of their light music division. Prolific composer and recording artist with more than 50 chart topping hits, including "Rio Rita", "Me and My Shadow" and "Pagan Love Song". Active in radio for CBS and NBC in the 1930's and,again, during the 1950's. Founded the Nathaniel Shilkret Music Company in 1940. Composed and recorded classical and jazz music, including "Concerto for Trombone" for Tommy Dorsey. Inductee in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
- Multi-instrumentalist (clarinettist and pianist), a child prodigy from the age of five, also composer and conductor. Played with the New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and subsequently led various 'hot' jazz bands in the 1920's and early 30's. Conducted Paul Whiteman's orchestra on Victor's electrical re-recording of Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" before Paul Whiteman. One of his early studio ensembles, the All Star Orchestra, included in its line-up such future luminaries as Joe Venuti, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw and Glenn Miller.
