Dolly Ki Doli follows hot on the heels of the success of Khoobsurat. In light of Sonam Kapoor delivering one of her most charming performances to date in the Disney rom-com, it is hard not to have reasonable expectations from Dolly Ki Doli. Furthermore, it is an interesting venture from Arbaaz Khan Productions, whose prior releases were the testosterone-filled Dabangg franchise.
Dolly Ki Doli, directorial debut of Abhishek Dogra, also stars Rajkumar Rao (Shahid, Kai Po Che and Queen), Pulkit Samrat (Fukrey) and Varun Sharma (Fukrey) in pivotal roles. The duo of Sajid-Wajid, unsurprisingly, have been engaged to deliver the film’s soundtrack with featured vocal artists consisting of Sunidhi Chauhan (‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ – Tees Maar Khan), Mamta Sharma (‘Munni Badnaam’ – Dabangg), Rahet Fateh Ali Khan (‘Tere Mast Mast Do Nain’ – Dabangg) and Divya Kumar (‘Shake Your Bootiya’ – Finding Fanny).

Tevar is the fourth remake of 2003 Telugu blockbuster Okkadu originally starring Mahesh Babu, Bhumika Chawla and Prakash Raj. Arjun Kapoor (2 States), Sonakshi Sinah (Lootera) and Manoj Bajpai (Rajneeti) take on the respective pivotal roles for the Hindi remake under the banner of Sanjay Kapoor Entertainment Pvt Ltd.
It features music by Sajid-Wajid (Wanted, Dabangg) and lyrics by Kausar Munir with the vocal talents of Shafqat Amanat Ali (‘Manchala’ – Hasse Toh Phasse), Shruti Hasan (‘Alvida’ – D-Day), Ritu Pathak (‘Jalebi Bai’ – Double Dhamaal) amongst others.
Superman introduces our larger than life protagonist with much fan fare that is not far from typical. It is a decent enough number but suffers from two drawbacks. Daawat-e-Ishq not only features the brand new jodi of Aditya Roy Kapoor (Aashiqui 2) and Parineeti Chopra (Ishaqzaade) but sees Sajid-Wajid (Dabangg) composing their first Yash Raj venture. Needless to say, music enthusiasts are curious to see what is in stock for us from this unlikely merger.
Daawat-e-Ishq’s songs have been penned by Kausar Munir while vocalists featured on the soundtrack include Sonu Nigam (‘Abhi Mujhme Kahin’ – Agneepath), Javed Ali (‘Tera Deedar Hai’ – Jannat 2), Sunidhi Chauhan (‘Sheila Ki Jawaani’ – Tees Maar Khan), Shreya Ghoshal (‘Chikni Chameli’ – Agneepath), Shalmali Kholgade (‘Pareshaan’ – Ishaqzaade) and Wajid (‘Jalwa’ – Wanted).
The title track opens the soundtrack and is an energetic qawaali/electronica by Javed Ali and Sunidhi Chauhan. Ali and Chauhan make a brilliant pair and complement the lyrical back and forth well. Munir’s expert grasp of Urdu is only surpassed by his impressive culinary innuendos. All in all, a powerful start to the soundtrack.

Film: "Jai Ho"; Composers: Sajid-Wajid, Amal Malik and Devi Sri Prasad; Singers: Wajid, Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal, Shabab Sabri, Himesh Reshammiya, Keerthi Sagathia, Palak Muchhal, Altamash Faridi, Armaan Malik, Bhaven Dhanak, Brijesh Shandilya, Ujjayinee and Amal Malik; Rating **
Salman Khan-starrer "Jai Ho" is an action-drama directed by Sohail Khan. It is said to be the biggest opener of 2014. Only time will tell if the viewers hail the movie or not.
The album has nine tracks, including two remixes, but the composers' efforts are nothing to write home about.
The album starts with "Baki sab first class hai", sung by Wajid. The song is good and relatable, but it's more like a speech given during a rally - the only difference.

Jai Ho sees Sohail Khan return to directing after Maine Dil Tujhko Diya (2002), his debut film as an actor. Jai Ho is yet another remake of a Telugu hit, Stalin, starring Chiranjeevi and Trisha. Sohali’s version stars Salman Khan, Tabu and Danny Denzongpa in pivotal roles.
Music has been composed by Sajid-Wajid (Dabangg franchise) and Amal Malik with Devi Sri Prasad as guest composer. Vocal talents consist of Wajid, Shreya Ghoshal, Shaan, Palak Mucchal and Himesh Reshammiya amongst others. The album features 9 tracks including 3 remixes.
Baaki Sab First Class is a satirical number sung by Wajid. The lyrics (Sajid, Irfan Kamal, Danish Sabri) are impressive however the repetitive dhol beats gets old quickly and Wajid’s rendition, while decent, suffers from a serious case of been-there-done-that. The remix of the track is equally unremarkable.

The masala-quotient in Tigmanshu Dhulia's Bullett Raja has gone up, A new mast-mast massy song 'Jai Govinda Jai Gopala' sung by Wajid, one of the composer duo Sajid-Wajid, has been added on at the last minute to the film. The last-minute inclusion of the song led to a critical final-hour delay in the dispatch of prints to overseas and non-overseas centers which had the producers Fox Star biting their nails in suspense.
But Tigmanshu was adamant.
When asked why he insisted on the last-minute inclusion of a song, the director said, "It has been added to the end-credits. We all felt that the song's presence would create an impact during the film's final phase of closure. The song had already been recorded. But we hadn't used it. I felt it fitted in at the end. Although not nearly as breathtaking, Rangrezz would probably fall into the same category of films he directed as Aakrosh and Tezz, showing the serious/realistic cinema side of him. A remake from Tamil, it stars Jackky Bhagnani, Priya Anand, Vijay Verma and Amitosh Nagpal in lead roles. The original film, Naadodigal, has been remade into 4 other languages since its release in 2009. But the key here is whether Rangrezz will see the same success.
Now, we have seen our fair share of movies in Hindi cinema that depict love birds and the selfless friends that help them succeed in their love story. Yet, have we ever seen what happens to...

Film: "Rangrezz"; Music Directors: Sajid-Wajid, Sundar C Babu; Lyricist: Sameer; Singers: Hiral Brahmbhatt, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Wajid, Sukhvinder Singh, Shankar Mahadevan; Rating: *** and a half
A love story with a twist, "Rangrezz" belts out music with three songs by Sajid-Wajid and the other two composed by South Indian composer Sundar C Babu, the man behind the original Tamil film "Naadodigal" of which "Rangrezz" is a remake.
"Dil ko aaya sukoon" opens the album and gives you the intensely romantic feel of "Dabangg" tracks, obviously due to Sajid-Wajid connection. This one is a great melody hummed by the virtuoso Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who is accompanied by Hiral Brahmbhatt. Their voices blend well and the track is one.

There is never a dull moment if it’s a David Dhawan film!
After receiving a spectacular response on ‘Har Ek Friend Kamina Hota Hai’ and ‘Early Morning’, the team of Chasme Baddoor releases yet another fun-filled track Ishq Mohallah. The newly released song is surely going to get the audiences grooving to the upbeat track. Sung by Wajid and Mika Singh, Ishq Mohallah. fits perfectly to
their ‘kamina’ theme.
The song features the lead trio Ali Zafar, Siddharth and Divyendu Sharma along with the lovely Taapsee Pannu. Ishq Mohallah has all the actors grooving to the tunes and flaunting some really crazy moves. The song has an instant connect with the audiences and is certainly one of the songs that can get anyone to dance. Neelesh Misra’s lyrics are wacky and catchy which makes the song a cut above the rest. The fun song starts with Jai aka...

David Dhawan is coming up with "Chashme Buddoor" remake and he has roped in Sajid-Wajid to compose music for the new version. The duo has tried to reproduce the spunk of the 1980s!
"Har ek friend kameena hota hai" is a satirical take on the popular mobile network jingle that states the exact opposite about friends. In the track, Sonu Nigam's voice is a refreshing change. It feels.

However, Jai and Omi face a clash when they both fall for Seema (Panu) and try their best to woo her. The music has been composed by Sajid-Wajid. In the past, the dynamic duo has given us soundtracks like Dabangg 2 (2012) and Teri Meri Kahaani (2012). The lyrics are written by Jalees Sherwani, Neelesh Misra and Kausar Muni. Firstly, I cannot convey my utmost excitement for Sajid Khan’s remake of Himmatwala, whether it was the exciting promos that promised a more energized Ajay Devgn or Tamannah Bhatia making her Bollywood debut. However, I did approach with trepidation when the first promos of the iconic Nainon Mein Sapna, which seemed like a by-the-numbers recreation of the multicolored sets or the lack of dance moves in Devgn and Bhatia. Yet it was the music that hooked us all in from the addictive “Tha Thaiya Ta Thaiya ho” and that Sajid and Wajid hadn’t added any overt flourishes to that iconic melody. This album is tons of fun, yet upon Khan’s insistence that they not stray too far from the source material, Sajid and Wajid play it a little safe. What we can appreciate is the ambition of the songs by using artists from the Laximant Pyarelal, Bappi Lahiri...

Looking back at 2012 song-ically, it certainly was a year of cool sounds, new voices, groovy and groovin’ beats and over all some killer tracks. Many of the songs brought a new vibe to the music of the movies, songs flavored with new influences, and songs that we never would have thought we would hear in a Bollywood flick. There were classic beats that got us up and dancing not to mention the grooves of today that got us to move to the music. We met some new singers we can’t wait to hear more of and some of our favorites blew us away with outstanding vocals. 2012 was full of surprises and we enjoyed so many of them, 50 in fact and every single note! As always we loved these songs when they first came out but once we saw them in the movie we loved them even more! Check out...

After Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardaar have battled it out theatres, we can now shift gears and return to that ‘other’ hugely awaited gem Dabangg 2! The anticipation has always been there, but the promotions have been lying low until the teaser trailer and “Dagabaaz Re” were released last week. Our lovable rogue Chulbul Pandey is back, fighting off more villains and romancing his wife Rajo (Sonakshi Sinha). The promos have increasingly been impressive, with Sajid and Wajid back as music directors for this huge film. When Dabangg to came out, it was hailed as a gamechanger, because it brought back that 80s masala revival and a rustic and desi sound that has made its way on nearly every album since. Thus, Dabangg 2 is keenly awaited on all counts, and Sajid and Wajid pitch in a good effort with this album.

Salman Khan has shot another item song, this one called 'Pandeyji Ceetee Maare' for Dabangg 2. It is sung by composer Wajid from the Sajid-Wajid duo.
This one would have the gorgeous Malaika Arora-Khan joining in with Salman.
Says Arbaaz, "We have already shot the Pandeyji number. It's choreographed by Chinni Prakash. Yes, Malaika makes an appearance with Salman. We thought it would be a nice reference back to the 'Munni' number from Dabangg. I don't know how you define an item song. If it's just a catchy number then we've three item songs in Dabangg 2. If it's a big-name actress making a guest appearance to dance, then Kareena's 'Fevicol' number is the only item song."
Arbaaz says he has almost completed the entire shooting of Dabangg 2. "I've a couple of songs, and that's it. There's only ten days of shooting left. We had to make sure...

The first half of 2012 has featured some of the best soundtracks in quite some time, with music directors creating innovative songs that kept us hooked. However, even though we may love gems like Gangs of Wasseypur or From Sydney with Love, and biggies like Cocktail and Rowdy Rathore, the lineup for late 2012 looks just as promising. Fall 2012 is definitely Khan season, with Shah Rukh’s untitled film with Yash Chopra, Aamir’s home production of Talaash, and Salman’s humongously awaited sequel to Dabangg all being released. Despite this, the latter part of the year is going to have a gratifying number of heroines dominating: Sridevi, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee and Preity Zinta each have their films releasing during September and October. Vanessa and I had such a lively conversation on what’s got us excited for the rest of 2012. Here’s some of the soundtracks we cannot wait to hear!

The forthcoming Yash Raj Films venture, Ek Tha Tiger has created Indian Cinema history with the overwhelming excitement surrounding its release. Ek Tha Tiger sees the newly crowned king of the box-office, Salman Khan, join forces with Bollywood mogul Yash Raj Films, under the direction of Kabir Khan (New York).
Khan’s prior box-office smashers, namely, Wanted, Dabangg, Ready and Bodyguard have music to match (critical analysis aside). Vocal talents comprise of Wajid (‘Jalwa’ – Wanted), Shreya Ghosal (‘Tere Meri’ – Bodyguard), K.K ( Desi Boys – Title Track, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan – Title Track), Sukhwinder Singh (Dabangg – Title Track, Singham – Title Track) and Mohit Chauhan (‘Saada Haq’ – Rockstar) amongst others. Naturally, three remixes by Joshilay fill this short album.

Bollywood music composers singing their own tunes is now passe. Music composers are now singing other composers' tunes. Vishal Dadlani sang for composer Vishal Bhardwaj in Kaminey and for Abhishek-Akshay in Vicky Donor. Now we hear Wajid of the Sajid-Wajid team is all set to sing songs by other composers. Apparently, after his vocals in the chartbuster 'Chinta Ta Ta' and 'Mukhtasar' in Rowdy Rathore and Teri Meri Kahaani, Wajid is seriously interested in pursuing the singing offers. We hear he has received singing offers from a nearly a dozen composers. And Wajid is all set to take up at last half of these offers. Says the composer-singer, "Yes, I am about to branch out as an independent singer. After 'Chinta Ta Ta' and 'Mukhtasar' there have been many tempting offers. I am taking up some of these. The thing is, my brother and I are very busy with composition.

Beyond its starring cast of Preity Zinta, newcomer Rhehan, Isabelle Adjani, and a special appearance by Salman Khan, not much is known about this upcoming Bollywood film, but its first poster has been released, and gives a rather nice idea of the romance we can expect.
Directed by Prem Soni, the film is due out in India later this year, with Zinta herself serving as producer.
According to BollySpice, who have the first look at this poster, the award-winning Saroj Khan (Agneepath, Agent Vinod) has choreographed a number in the film, and brothers Sajid and Wajid Ali, a.k.a. Sajid-Wajid (Rowdy Rahore, Wanted), are behind the music.
Though the plot remains under wraps, the time-stamps on the poster would suggest that the film takes place over one long evening (and well into the early hours of the morning), which is often a great set-up for a film when it’s done well.

Mumbai, May 21: Composer Wajid of the famous Sajid-Wajid duo reveals that originally he had composed "Mukhtasar" for his album but decided to use it in "Teri Meri Kahaani" as the situation in the film was apt for it.

Kunal Kohli’s new film Teri Meri Kahaani looks to be a bit of throwback to the 90s love sagas with modern twists, similar to Love Aaj Kal‘s multiple love stories over different eras. Kohli started off so well with Hum Tum and Fanaa but really fizzled out after Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic, so he has a lot banking on Teri Meri Kahaani. He definitely has a sizzling leading couple with Shahid Kapur and Priyanka Chopra falling in love in 1910, 1960, and 2012. Admittedly, the promos felt a bit meh, but it was the catchy Mukhtasar that perhaps got you excited for the soundtrack. This time Kohli has gone to Sajid and Wajid to create a new chartbuster of an album, and perhaps testing their musical strengths away from the hero camps of Salman, and Akshay Kumar.

Not only are fans eagerly awaiting to see the Priyanka Chopra- Shahid Kapoor starrer Teri Meri Kahaani, we are also really excited to hear the full Ost that Sajid-Wajid has composed for the romantic film. So far the two songs we have been treated to ‘Mukhtasar’ and ‘Humse Pyar Kar Le Tu’ have been huge hits. What else do Sajid and Wajid have in store for us? Well, it seems we will find out because the music release could be happening very soon. One cool thing we have learned is that there is a song that really touched star Shahid Kapoor.

Sajid and Wajid are definitely becoming the go-to composers for the latest trend of masala film music with a South Indian twist. Whether the duo often succeeds in this genre is up for debate, but the Rowdy Rathore soundtrack comes with mammoth expectations. If the Housefull 2 and Tezz soundtracks were a bit lacklustre, then the duo has a lot more to prove in their usual comfort zone. The film features a return for director-choreographer Prabhu Deva since his last hit Wanted. This time Akshay Kumar takes over the masala hero duties and Sonakshi Sinha making more of an impact since her debut in Dabangg. Truly the spirit of the 90s is back with this loud and catchy album, which may divide the listeners with its gleeful use of every drum imaginable!
