Seymour Wishman, a longtime producer, writer, legal expert and president of First Run Features, died on Jan. 29 at a family home in Bridgewater, Conn., his daughter Samantha confirmed to Variety. He was 79.
Over the past 38 years, Wishman had served as president of First Run Features. During his time at the N.Y.-based independent film distribution company, Wishman brought Michael Apted’s “28 Up” (and later the entire “Up” series) to the United States and helped Ross McElwee finish and release “Sherman’s March” — as well as McElwee’s other films, including “Bright Leaves” and “Six O’Clock News.” Wishman also released Spike Lee’s “Joe’s Bed-Stuy Barbershop: We Cut Heads” (the director’s first feature film and his graduate school thesis), Cheryl Dunye’s “The Watermelon Woman,” Jan Svankmajer’s “Alice” and many other independent pictures.

As HBO begins releasing more materials for Succession Season 3, our anticipation is growing.
The latest trailer also includes our first look at new guest stars and finally offers some of the signature comedy fans have come to love.
This is going to be good!
As the entire Roy dynasty begins to crumble (and Kendall (Jeremy Strong) is the top trending topic, even inching out tater tots, everything we love about this effed-up family is heightened.
This time around, the Roys are dragging some new people into their nightmare, played by Alexander Skarsgard, Adrien Brody, and Hope Davis.
We've got Brody's Josh Aronson as a billionaire activist who seems blown away by the Roy family antics. "I thought my family was fucked up. This is next level," Josh says incredulously.
He's going to need to be on his A-game, as the billionaire activist is a key player as the battle for ownership of Waystar intensifies.

When Jon Bon Jovi was asked to appear in New York City at the Christmas Tree Lighting in Rockefeller Center on Wednesday night, he shared the moment with the men and women of the military by performance of his song, “Unbroken,” from the documentary “To Be of Service.”
While acknowledging that appearing at a tree lighting isn’t something he would ordinarily do, the opportunity to shine a light on veterans who are struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder — as well as the service dogs that are the central theme of the documentary, which was directed and produced by Academy Award-nominated director Josh Aronson — was too important to pass up.
“It’s much bigger and more important than giving presents, when you think about all the men and women who are abroad or who are gone,” Bon Jovi tells Variety over the phone from his home. “At this time of the year,...

"I looked at him, and he ran to me. That's when everything started to get a lot better." First Run Features has debuted an official trailer for an indie documentary titled To Be of Service, the latest doggie doc to arrive this year. From experienced doc director Josh Aronson, To Be of Service explores the remarkable life changes resulting from the introduction of trained service dogs into the lives of military veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Not all war veterans can get this kind of help, but for the lucky ones who are paired up with a service dog, the unconditional love and support offered by these highly trained canines become the bedrock for them to re-engage with the outside world and to learn to feel again. The film profiles these veterans and their service dogs: Greg Kolodziejczyk and Valor, Sylvia Bowersox and Timothy, Tom Moody and Mako, Brandon Lewis and Booth,...

The story of one of the greatest orchestras in the world, born out of one of the worst tragedies of the 20th century, the holocaust. Josh Aronson.s latest film is the story of Bronislaw Huberman.s founding of the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra. Not only did he found the orchestra during a period of unmatched social and political upheaval, he saved the lives of a thousand Jews in doing it. Born in Poland on 1882, Huberman was a violin prodigy who played for Brahms at age twelve. Young Huberman was driven by his father to be the greatest violinist in the world, as much to provide for his family as to benefit humankind. When his father died, the now internationally famous musician...
