Apple TV+’s post-apocalyptic science fiction series Silo (read our 8/10 review Here) is based on a series of stories written by author Hugh Howey. It started with a short story called Wool, and at one point the plan was to call the Apple TV+ series Wool as well. And it looks like Apple TV+ is interesting in bringing some of those stories to the screen, because Deadline reports they have officially ordered Silo season 2!

Two months before she reunites with Tom Cruise for another daring spy adventure, Rebecca Ferguson is leading a thriller of her own. The “Mission: Impossible” and “Dune” actor stars in the new trailer for “Silo,” a sci-fi drama series, released by Apple TV+ on Thursday.
The show is based on a series of science fiction novels by author Hugh Howey, which includes three books: “Wool,” “Shift,” and “Dust.” “Silo” is set in a dystopian future where all of humanity lives in the titular enclave, a subterranean city of mysterious origins. According to the leaders of the Silo, the 10,000 residents are the last of humanity, and the outside world is now toxic for human life. Ferguson plays Juliette, an engineer for the Silo who begins questioning the reality of her civilization following the death of a loved one, and embarks on a quest to discover the reality of life beyond the city.

Author Hugh Howey began his Silo series of post-apocalyptic science fiction stories in 2011, and attempts to bring those stories to the screen have been coming and going since 2012. Ridley Scott and Steve Zaillian were going to produce a film adaptation for 20th Century Fox. Latoya Morgan was developing a Silo series for AMC. But a decade down the line, it’s Apple TV+ that has successfully managed to get a Silo series into production. The first two episodes of the series will premiere on May 5th, with the remaining episodes to be released on a weekly basis every Friday. After Greg Berlanti and Geoff Johns, few creative types have had as big an influence over the current state of superhero TV than Brian Michael Bendis. Netflix's current line of Marvel Comics shows may as well be called the Bendis Cinematic Universe, since in the comics he co-created Jessica Jones, promoted Luke Cage from Marvel's C-list into the vital character he is today, and wrote one of the definitive modern Daredevil runs. (He also put Iron Fist into the Avengers, though it remains to be seen what comics influences his upcoming Netflix show will draw upon.) He's also co-creator of Powers, a comic about human cops who investigate murders tied to superheroes and villains, and an executive producer of the TV version, which is in the midst of its second season on the PlayStation Network. And during an appearance at the Atx Television Festival earlier this month, Bendis let slip...

Since John Pope first appeared on “Falling Skies” in the series’ second episode, he has been one of the TNT show’s most fun and fascinating characters to watch. In an alien invasion apocalypse, he’s the bad boy looking out for number one, a cynical nuisance, a thorn in Tom Mason’s side. But he’s also been a vital member of the 2nd Mass, loyal to his gang, a badass alien killer, and he even has his heart of gold moments. He’s sometimes an anti-hero character we love to hate — whenever he’s causing trouble within the 2nd Mass as if a war against aliens isn’t trouble enough — but he also comes to reveal struggles and a past that makes him rather relatable. Played by Colin Cunningham, Pope got a love interest in season 4. Sara (Mira Sorvino) has changed Pope, and that’s clearer than ever in the most recent episodes.

Unlike the 2nd Mass, which over the years has been led into battle by and large by history prof-turned-resistance leader Tom Mason, TNT’s Falling Skies has not enjoyed the best continuity of leadership.

More casting news has arrived for the Sony PlayStation Network adaptation of the Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming-created comic series Powers as Sharlto Copley and Michelle Forbes have signed on for active duty!

We've known that Brian Michael Bendis' Powers was coming to the PlayStation Network for a while, and now we finally have our first casting announcement. According to Deadline, Susan Heyward (The Following) will play Deena Pilgrim; who's described as "equal parts beauty and sarcasm, a wunderkind detective with edgy style". In the comics she partners up with Christian Walker -- who used to be a Power himself -- but no word on who'll be playing him yet. We do have a couple of supporting roles though: Adam Godley (Breaking Bad) will play Captain Cross, head of the Powers division of the police department, and Max Fowler (The Killing) will play the son of Walker’s deceased partner, who was murdered by a power. Bendis, Oeming and Michael Dinner will executive produce the show, with Huston and Remi Aubuchon (Falling Skies).

This edition of my Notebook is open wide to a pair of returning shows, one show on hiatus until next summer and one show that is bringing The Hunger Games into your living room.
Indeed, scroll down now for some scoop on Breaking Bad, Falling Skies and more...
Breaking Bad Yep, the final eight episodes start airing this Sunday – I’ve seen Sunday’s episode and it does Not disappoint – but in talking to star Betsy Brandt about her new gig on The Michael J Fox Show, I couldn’t help but ask her if she would miss her AMC character, Marie. As her eyes welled up with tears, she told me:
“I miss her…I don’t want to be sappy Suzie. I shouldn’t call it a once in a lifetime experience because most actors are never going to be on TV on a show like that and I’m so grateful,...

Falling Skies Episode 310
“Brazil”
Written By: Remi Aubuchon
Directed By: Greg Beeman
Original Airdate: 4 August 2013
In This Episode...
Weaver, Pope, Anthony, and Lyle board a train (!) headed for Chicago. Lourdes is chained up and along for the ride. The goal is to use Lourdes as bait to draw Karen and her forces to Chicago. Tom and the rest of the army, along with Cochise, have the weapon out on a barge in Boston. They take aim, and fire. The Volm weapon sucks out a bit of the grid, turns it into energy, and blasts at the massive tower in the distance. They hit one leg of the tower; it will take ten minutes for the weapon to recharge. They don’t have ten minutes - ships are flying towards them now. The crew shoots them all down pretty easily. The tower collapses under its own weight - it crumbles into ruins,...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read on if you have not yet watched last night’s Falling Skies season finale, as the following discussion centers on events from the episode.
Season 3 has been quite the roller coaster ride for this TNT drama. With storylines coming to a head and one evil character getting killed, the finale left us with lots of places to go in the fourth season.
So there was nobody better to talk with about what happened and where we’re headed than outgoing Executive Producer/Showrunner Remi Aubuchon and star Noah Wyle, who answered all the tough questions about the finale’s many epic moments. Scroll down for an exclusive Q&A...
TV Fanatic: Will the Tom/Cochise relationship continue into the next season?
Remi Aubuchon: I can’t speak for David [Eick, the new showrunner for Season 4] because I haven’t been involved in the fourth season, but it was certainly our...

Review Ron Hogan 5 Aug 2013 - 07:00
Falling Skies ends season 3 with an uncharacteristically downbeat episode that although solid, lacked the stuff of a great season finale...
This review contains spoilers.
3.10 Brazil
Falling Skies apparently saved up a big portion of its special effects budget for the final episode, which features multiple Beamer ships, a mega-mech, an Espheni transport ship, the long-awaited unveiling of the Volm super weapon, multiple members of the Volm race, and the Volm transport ship that has been one of humanity's last, best hopes for winning the war against the alien invaders with a minimum amount of messy bloodshed. Well, human bloodshed, that is.
For all its failings, Falling Skies has been very optimistic. For every bad moment near the close of an episode, there's been some sort of redemption by the end of the hour. Each season, we've had some sort of big cliffhanger to carry...
