Whilst terminal illness and imminent death might not be the obvious source for a delightful surreal comedy, Yasmin Afifi has built a humorous and affecting world within those parameters in BAFTA nominated short Jellyfish & Lobster. It’s a touching and very personal project created as her graduate film at the National Film and Television School, which follows two non-conformist, unapologetic patients of a care home who refuse to let their illnesses or age define them. One of ten shorts that we highlighted as favourites in our Nfts Graduate Showcase recommendations at the start of the year, Jellyfish & Lobster rides on a surreal Cocoon-esque premise as a swimming pool becomes a vehicle for the anarchic pair to escape their reality and immerse themselves in the draw of past youthful vibrancy. Afifi delicately balances real and magical elements on screen, rendering the well-honed script all the more powerful and recently spoke...

I hate to upset people, but those who longed to see Tony Stark doing a load of laundry in the 2008 film "Iron Man" will not get their wish.
It seems the scene was filmed, but then cut from the film and left on the cutting room floor. It was never included in any of the film's Blu-ray/DVD special features, and it was never screened outside of editing bays and the rooms where producers review dailies. The "Iron Man" laundry scene is, it would appear, lost to time.
To remind readers, the opening of Jon Favreau's "Iron Man" -- a positively quaint film when compared to the groaning machinations of the Marvel Cinematic Universe it spawned -- was about a hotshot inventor and weapons manufacturer named Tony Stark who was kidnapped by Middle Eastern terrorists. The terrorists, led by the gangster Abu Bakkar (Sayed Badreya), had been stealing Stark...

Whoa! This movie has completely caught me off guard and I'm usually up on my movies. Cargo comes from Persona Films and is directed by Yan Vizinberg. The foreign film's cast includes Natasha Rinis, Sayed Badreya and Philip Willingham and tells the story about a "young Russian woman, smuggled into America by human traffickers, and a notorious Egyptian transporter, hired to drive her from the Mexican border to New York City, form an unlikely bond that threatens to derail the traffickers’ plans".
This looks good simply judging by the plot and the cool-ass poster and images they have, looks like this poor girl goes through a lot. Be sure to visit Cargo on Facebook.

Mexico City -- Paramount Pictures Mexico has picked up Mexican distribution rights to Carlos Carrera's thriller "Backyard -- El Traspatio," marking Paramount's first acquisition here since it replaced United International Pictures Mexico last year.
The Indigo Films production, which centers on a homicide investigation in the northern border city of Ciudad Juarez, features Ana de la Reguera, Joaquin Cosio, Sayed Badreya and Jimmy Smits.
Acclaimed Mexican scribe Sabina Berman penned the script for Carrera, who directed Mexico's all-time boxoffice leader, "The Crime of Father Amaro." Berman also is producing "Backyard" with Epigmenio Ibarra of Argos and Isabelle Tardan.
Production wrapped last week and Paramount is looking to release the picture nationwide early next year.
