- Baker started as a newspaper reporter in Brooklyn and Manhattan before entering films in 1914. He wrote a number of screenplays for comedian John Bunny and also wrote for Fox, Universal and Warner Bros., studios under the name of Leslie S. Barrows. Baker died following brain surgery.
