Fans will be getting more of All American than previously expected, but exactly how much more? Well, that depends. The CW show is currently airing its sixth season, and the network has decided to add two more episodes to the season order, notching up to 15 episodes from the original 13 planned, per Deadline. The beloved sports drama is one of the few scripted series left on the struggling network, but the future of the show beyond Season 6 is currently in question (along with its spinoff All American: Homecoming as both shows are currently on the bubble). The trade reports that the extended length of this season is possibly meant to give more room to wrap up the storylines of exiting characters Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) and Jordan Baker (Michael Evans Behling), who are heading for the NFL draft in the events of the series. In a separate report from Deadline, the...

Exclusive: This is a rare occurrence in the current strike-impacted broadcast season — a scripted series getting an order for additional episodes. According to sources, the CW’s flagship drama All American is having its current sixth season extended from 13 episode to 15 episodes.
All American’s first five seasons have ranged between 16-20 episodes. With the series picking up just over a year after the end of Season 5, there is a lot of unpack, and the extra episodes would allow to better flesh out the story and build toward a satisfying conclusion.
It also would allow fans to stay in the current world longer as All American‘s characters are preparing for major life changes, with series protagonist Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) and potentially Jordan Baker (Michael Evans Behling) headed to the NFL draft.

[This story contains spoilers from the season six premiere of All American, “Things Done Changed.”]
After nearly a yearlong gap since its season five finale, All American made its season six premiere on The CW on Monday night.
The sports drama that is centered around football player Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) — which has followed the star wide receiver and his friends from his days at Crenshaw High up through his freshman year at the fictitious Golden Angeles University last season — will mark 100 episodes on May 27. It’s a milestone Ezra says came as a shock to him, like many others in the series.
“When I was cast, that was a surprise. When the pilot got picked up, that was a surprise. I didn’t expect any of it,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “It took me two seasons to give up my apartment in London. I just thought, ‘They’re going to send me back.’”

“Welcome home.”
Those were the two words that All American star Bre-z used to describe the CW series’ upcoming sixth season. New episodes are right around the corner, with the Season 6 premiere set for April 1, and audiences will pick up with the characters more than a year after they last saw them.
Season 5 ended on a bit of tumultuous note for many of the characters. Spencer (Daniel Ezra) and Olivia (Samantha Logan) were finally able to reconnect just as Liv was leaving to spend what everyone thought would be three months in London for an internship. Turns out, it was a bit longer than that.
Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) proposed to Layla (Greta Onieogou). Asher (Cody Christian) began preparing to have a baby. Patience (Chelsea Tavares) was stabbed outside the Baker home, unaware that Coop (Bre-z) was on her way there to confess she still had feelings she wanted to explore.

Since The Crown launched on Netflix in 2016, it’s become a monumental hit, including being the first show to win all seven major drama category awards during the 2021 Emmys. And now it’s back for its fifth, and penultimate, series.
There’s a particular buzz around this latest season of this fictional dramatisation of the life of Queen Elizabeth II: not only is there a major cast change for the second time, it will also be the first time a new series airs since the deaths of Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip.
Season five will cover the 1990s, arguably one of the royal family’s most difficult decades. They endured a major fire at Windsor Castle, the messy public breakdown of Charles and Diana’s marriage, and the leadup to the tragedy of Diana’s death in a car crash in Paris.

The CW is plotting a spinoff of its football-themed high school drama series All American, Deadline has confirmed. We hear the project is still in the dealmaking stages.
If all elements come together, we hear the idea is for the spinoff to center on the character of Simone Hicks, played by Geffri Maya. As first reported by TV Line, the potential spinoff would be introduced in an episode of All American‘s upcoming third season. It would revolve around Simone as she attends a historically Black college. Simone, a Beverly High senior, is the girlfriend of Jordan Baker (Michael Evans Behling).
Reps for The CW and Warner Bros declined comment The two companies also are working a potential spinoff of Black Lightning, which will originate as a backdoor pilot on the mothership series.
Season 2 of All American found Spencer James (Daniel Ezra), now a football state champion, with a tough decision to make.

Emma Corrin is one of the breakout stars of The Crown's fourth season, but her time as Princess Diana is over as quickly as it began. In season five, a different actress will be joining the cast to play the late Princess of Wales for the remainder of the show, and that actress is Elizabeth Debicki. While you might not recognize Debicki's name right off the bat, you've definitely seen her in one of her many previous roles!

Elizabeth Debicki can keep a secret.
Maybe it comes from her stint in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where she made a memorable appearance as a gold-painted alien in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.” Or from dabbling in the world of espionage in AMC’s adaptation of John le Carré’s spy thriller “The Night Manager.” Maybe it’s her elegant appearance, which might be why she is frequently cast as cool and aloof figures, something that started with her breakthrough roles as the alluring but deceptive Jordan Baker in “The Great Gatsby” and a stylish villain in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” But to hear the Australian actor tell it, convincing the world she’s an enigma is her greatest performance yet. “One time, Isabella Rossellini said I was mysterious, and it basically made my life because I’ve always wanted to be mysterious!” Debicki says with a laugh. “The truth is,...

Several of the most prominent stars in the National Football League posted a video demanding the league condemn racism and admit it was wrong to silence protesting players.
The video comes after the death of George Floyd, who died after a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck for several minutes, after Floyd repeatedly said he couldn’t breathe. Organizations around the country, including the NFL, shared statements of support after Floyd’s death.
However, some people viewed the NFL’s statement as insincere, after quarterback Colin Kaepernick faced backlash for kneeling during football games to protest police brutality and the oppression of Black rights.
“It’s been 10 days since George Floyd was brutally murdered. How many times do we need to ask you to listen to your players? What will it take? For one of us to be murdered by police brutality? What if I was George Floyd?” the players ask in the video.

Something Derivative This Way Comes: The Pierce Bros. More Wicker than Wicked in Witchy Thriller
The dead aren’t so much evil in The Wretched, the highly polished sophomore effort from directing brothers Brett and Drew T. Pierce, as they are covetous of pricey lakeshore property. Or so one could assume for the motivation of the witches lurking in the woods from the duo who last tackled zombies with their 2011 debut Deadheads.
A highly derivative narrative seems even more deadened thanks to their switch to a teenage boy’s perspective, but some impressive visuals are sometimes enough to distract from the predictable proceedings.…...

It's not that far from Indiana to Beverly Hills.
That's what Michael Evans Behling, who has portrayed Jordan Baker on The CW drama All American for the past two seasons, discovered when he went west.
Michael, who turns 24 in early March, grew up in rural Indiana on 10 acres where he tended to the family garden, land, and chicken coop. It was there where he developed his love of nature.
So how did country boy Michael ever learn to relate to the entitled Jordan?
In a recent phone interview from Los Angeles, Michael pointed to two similarities: a competitive mindset and a mixed-race identity.
Jordan is the starting quarterback on his father Billy's Beverly High football team. Michael was a multi-sport star in high school who went on to compete in track for two years at Indiana State University.

In 1994, when Edward Albee’s “Three Tall Women” had back-to-back premieres Off Broadway and on the West End, people close to both productions said that in London the play had been turned into “the Maggie Smith show.” I didn’t see it on the West End, but I did see the New York staging with Jordan Baker, Marian Seldes and Myra Carter in the role of A, the cantankerous old woman also played by Smith. Off Broadway it was very much an ensemble. “Three Tall Women” opened Thursday on Broadway, finally, at the Golden Theatre, and 81-year-old Oscar winner Glenda Jackson...

Former SNL cast member Chris Parnell has a new TV gig: He’ll co-star in the untitled CBS comedy pilot starring Damon Wayans Jr., our sister site Deadline is reporting.
Wayans (New Girl, Happy Endings) stars as one half of a boring married couple whose lives get a jolt when a young pop star moves in with them. Parnell will play Wayne, the pop star’s slick, money-hungry agent.
Parnell currently recurs as Dean Parker on Freeform’s black-ish spinoff grown-ish. In addition to his eight years on SNL, Parnell has had memorable runs on 30 Rock, Archer and Suburgatory.

“Can’t repeat the past? Why, of course you can… of course you can.”
If Jay Gatsby had been born 80 or 90 years later, he could easily have run a movie studio instead of running booze — after all, repeating the past seems to be all that Hollywood really does these days. Of course, the film industry has always sustained itself by transfiguring history into images and then embalming them as culture (that business approach is baked into the medium itself, which allows artists to paint with time as vividly as they might with color), but there’s a vast difference between revisiting our memories and resigning to them; there’s a vast difference between looking at a green light across a misty harbor, and being so mesmerized by the promise of its fading emerald glow that it obscures the possibility of all other futures.
