In his latest interview/podcast, host Stuart Wright talks with Toby Tobias about his directorial feature debut Blood Orange that stars rock legend Iggy Pop, alongside Kacey Barnfield and Ben Lamb.
In a stunning modern Spanish Villa lives Bill (Iggy Pop) an aging, half-blind rock star with his young, very beautiful and sexually promiscuous wife Isabelle (Kacey Barnfield). Into their Ibizan paradise comes Lucas (Ben Lamb), an ex-lover looking for revenge. Lucas wants his inheritance back; he believes she stole it from him, but Isabelle will give him nothing. Bill asks Lucas to stay and to make peace with Isabelle, but really he has another agenda – he has a plan… Meanwhile, Lucas is already torn up inside with the desire for revenge, and when he sees how Isabelle is having one of her flings with David their Spanish ‘pool boy’ he sees an opportunity to turn the tables and things spiral dangerously out of control.

If you like the sight of Iggy’s naked torso, this is the film for you. Unfortunately it also shows up his limitations as an actor
After Iggy Pop’s triumphant gigs in London last month, the mania continues with this curio, an erotic thriller, featuring him in his first leading role. If you’re the sort of person who can never get enough of this wonderfully grizzled, whip-lean 69-year-old’s naked torso, this will hold you over, at least until Gimme Danger, the Jim Jarmusch-directed documentary about Pop gets its UK release. Unfortunately, it also demonstrates his pronounced limitations as an actor, even when playing a variant on himself. Pop’s Bill is an ageing rock star, twisted with spinal trouble and nearly blind, but seemingly happily married to sexy widow Isabelle, played by Kacey Clarke. Free spirit that he is, Bill doesn’t mind if Isabelle occasionally...

The Battle of the Somme marked one of the bloodiest battles in human history wounding and killing over 1,000,000 German and Allied soldiers. Now a century later, a documentary team – led by filmmaker Marcus Singh and Emma Washington have travelled to the site to film a TV ratings smash hit, unveiling the mysteries that led to its horrific outcome. However what they unearth is far worse than they could have imagined – an army of the undead and a brand new war. World War Dead: Rise of the Fallen chronicles a terrifying new battle between the living and the dead… and there can only be one winner.

Flim The Movie is a very clever, very funny mockumentary. It was a surprise hit at Raindance Film Festival 2014 and despite a low budget and miniscule marketing spend found itself nominated for a British Independent Film Award alongside big hitters like Calvary and The Imitation Game. The story centres around a hapless, wannabe Bollywood director called Ravi (played by Raffaello Degruttola). He claims to have made at least one short film back in India and has come to the UK to make his first feature film. Capturing this is the Nick Broomfield-cum-Louis Theroux documentarian Scott (played by Steven Waddington).
As well as star in it, Degruttola produced and directed it.

Let’s be brutally honest, I absolutely detest the “football hooligan” sub-genre of British cinema, a genre which has – for reasons I personally can’t fathom – flourished on DVD here in the UK in recent years.
Now that may sound strange given that I’m more than happy to sit through sleazy, near-the-knuckle horror and exploitation flicks (some of which would turn people’s stomachs) but there’s just something about the genre and seeing grown men beat the living hell out of each other on film in the name of a “sport”, that puts me right off. Especially when that’s the Only selling point of a movie! Which is why you’ve never seen a review of such a film from me – not...

Everyone has their own views on who are the most attractive women in the world and it is a topic nobody will categorically agree on. Just look at FHM’s Sexiest 100 for 2012: they had Tulisa in first position which barely anybody agreed with. Objectifying women is a taboo for some so any feminism should be left at the door before taking a glance at this list.
Being regarded as sexy is subjective and how do you really define what makes a person sexy? And what difference is there between ‘sexy’ and ‘hot’? I have simplified things: if their appearance, aura and/or personality fit the bill, they are sexy, even if it would be more apt to describe them as ‘cute’ or ‘beautiful’.
Trying to select a top 50 is a lot like being a kid in a candy shop, and unfortunately there are many, many attractive women I have...

Poor Alice. Will her epic war with the undead and the corrupt Umbrella Corporation ever end?
We kind of hope not, 'cause that would mean no more "Resident Evil" movies. Alice (Milla Jovovich) returns in the fifth(!) chapter, "Resident Evil: Retribution," in theaters this Friday. Her journey has been long, hard and more complicated than you might imagine; as such, we thought a refresher course of sorts was in order before you check out her latest battle against the victims — and creators — of that damn T-virus.
So, join us through the many levels — er, installments — of the movie series based on Capcom's iconic survival horror video games.

*full disclosure: American World Pictures provided a screener of this film for review.
Director: Steven R. Monroe.
Writers: Raul Inglis and Rafael Jordan.
Cast: Tahmoh Penikett, Michael Worth and Kacey Barnfield.
SyFy Channel should consider rebranding. They do a better job with the fantasy films they choose than the science fiction and terror products combined. Jabberwock is a simple tongue-in-cheek tale that plays with Lewis Carroll’s nonsense poem, but spells the monster’s name without the y.
Either there were copyright issues that the film's producers could not wrangle, or they were simply trying to be original. To loosely base the monster on the design by artist John Tenniel gives this film a continuity that is much appreciated. Not every detail, like the creature’s long antennae, canonical beard and broad buckteeth are recreated, but any avid arts aficionado will recognize the silhouette.

This weekend’s Jabberwock gives the Syfy creature feature treatment to the insect-headed dragon of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Syfy has posted two clips from the medieval monster movie from I Spit on Your Grave remake director Steven R. Monroe.
Jabberwock stars Michael Worth (“Acapulco H.E.A.T.”, Sasquatch Mountain), Tahmoh Penikett (“Battlestar Galactica”, Trick ‘r Treat), and Kacey Barnfield (Resident Evil: Afterlife, Lake Placid 3). Rafael Jordan (Frost Giant, Yeti: Curse of the Snow Demon) and Raul Inglis (Sand Serpents, Goblin) handled the scripting duties.
Here’s a rather spoiler-y synopsis for Jabberwock courtesy of the film’s distributors at American World Pictures that was clearly written by someone who confused the concept of synopsis with treatment. Whoever wrote it also doesn’t have much need for silly things like paragraphs. Believe me, when I start giving grammar lessons, you've got problems.

SyFy might be slashing and burning their lineup of science-fiction serials (buh-bye Eureka and Sgu), but they're still going strong with their creature features. Over the years, the Maneater Series has brought us such treasures as Yeti, Wyvern, Behemoth, Ferocious Planet, Hybrid, Carny, and many more. Is it the best science-fiction has to offer? Actor Abraham Benrubi takes the lead in the David Arquette helmed horror effort 'Glutton'. The new psychological thriller which revolves around a 1200-pound man (played by Benrubi) will be Arquette's second go at directing within the genre following his 2006 serial killer effort 'The Tripper'. Over the weekend the new movie received a couple of interesting cast additions in the form of David's sister Patricia Arquette and rising star Kacey Barnfield ('Jabberwocky'). This won't be the first time David has directed his sister having helmed a few episodes of Patricia's hit series 'Medium' in the past. Kacey (below), star of 'Lake Placid 3' and 'Resident Evil: Afterlife', will be joining the project when the production begins shooting next month in Canada....

Much like the Baldwins, the Carradines, the Coppolas, the Cusacks and the Wayans, the Arquette family is well established in the acting world. From David to Patricia to Alexis to Richmond to Rosanna, they've all had at least some success in the movie industry and while their stars aren't as bright as they once were, they still get work on a regular basis and occasionally get to work together. Case in point, Variety is reporting that David Arquette has cast his sister Patricia in his newest directorial effort. Titled Glutton, the film is a psychological thriller about a 1,200-pound man, played by Abraham Benrubi. Patricia will be playing the man's sister and caretaker while Kacey Barnfield, who is also a new addition to the cast, will play the man's friend and blind neighbor. The project won't be David's first time directing his sister, as he also helmed three episodes of...

Nothing wrong with a bit of nepotism. David Arquette has cast his sister, Patricia, in his sophomore directing effort, Glutton . Patricia hasn't starred in a feature since 2006; most of her time has been dedicated to Medium . Kacey Barnfield is also joining the cast of the thriller led by actor Abraham Benrubi. Barnfield had a part in Resident Evil: Afterlife . Shooting begins next month in Canada. Benrubi plays a 1200-pound man who is forced out of his bed by a stranger who says the man's sister has been kidnapped. He can only save her if he "sheds" his excess weight.

It comes as no surprise that the trailer for Rhi Entertainment's Roadkill would quickly pop up online once Syfy announced the Stephen Rea-starring monster movie's April 23rd premiere date. More surprising is that this Syfy movie about hit & run, gypsy curses, and a giant bird of prey doesn't look too shabby.
Kate and her brother, Joel, have gathered their five best friends for a scenic Rv road trip to their high school reunion. But their cross-country adventure is about to take an unexpected turn for the worst when an ancient curse takes wing by way of a massive creature. It’s called the Simuroc, and this gigantic bird of prey has found the perfect, helpless quarry in Kate and company. Stranded in the backwoods of the predator’s territory, there’s little chance for escape.
I really don't think the title Roadkill suits a movie with a premise like that.
