It never fails.
Whenever Dirty Jobs goes off the air for a few months, people start to wonder if the show has been canceled. Rumors begin to swirl, and questions about the show's future fill my inbox. Over the years it's been my pleasure to assure anxious fans that Dirty Jobs is coming back for another season. And indeed, we always have. Alas, this year, I'm afraid I cannot dispel the rumors. A few weeks ago, I was officially informed that Dirty Jobs had entered into a new phase. One I like to call, "permanent hiatus." Or in the more popular industry vernacular, canceled.
My first instinct was to immediately pass the news on to you, but frankly, it's taken me a few weeks to digest. Dirty Jobs is a very personal show, and it's difficult for me to imagine a future that does not involve exploding toilets, venomous snakes,...

I'll take any excuse I can get to hang out with Mike Rowe. Sure he's on a hit TV show, has a deep, velvety voice and is often described as "ruggedly handsome," but he's also hilarious and a genuinely good guy. Pretty much what you see on TV is what you get with Mike.
As 'Dirty Jobs' returns with new episodes (Tues., Oct. 19, 9Pm Et on Discovery), Mike talks about working his way up -- to the sewer -- and reminisces about his glamorous Discovery Channel beginnings on a little travel show called 'Romantic Escapes.' He then explains why deep down, he doesn't like people (he kids, he kids!), and tells me why they'll never run out of 'Dirty Jobs.'
We also dish about most popular episodes, an upcoming manscaping segment with producer and regular target Dave Barsky...

Baby animals, poopy pouches, exotic nursing alternatives and protecting oneself from Lemur attacks is in store for fans of Mike Rowe, the resident stud of Discovery who rolls up his sleeves and gets the job done, whatever the task. Rowe celebrates the everyday worker, unglamorous, unsung and usually underpaid. Discovery's "Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe" is back with all new episodes, beginning Tuesday, October 19th at 9pm Et/Pt. Nanny time for Mike as he visits a Texas ranch that harbors and breeds exotic animal species, Mike cleans the pen of ring-tailed lemurs (suffering a bite), potty trains baby kangaroos and clips the claws of a bearcat. Meanwhile, producer/camera man Dave Barsky learns what camel milk tastes like, and...

Mike Rowe has performed 279 truly icky jobs since launching his hit Discovery Channel show Dirty Jobs eight years ago - but no task has been quite so intimate as learning to wax his friend's chest. The man who gets waxed is Dave Barsky. He's the show's lead cameraman and actually (sort of) came up with the idea for the segment, which will air on the show's new season, debuting Oct. 19. Barsky "pointed out there was a salon on the island [where we were filming another segment]," says Rowe, who ribbed his pal about wanting a pedicure. "Someone at some point said [to Barsky], 'You're a hairy little son of a gun.
